Representatives of the genus Inula are promising for introduction due to their wide range of uses. So, many species are ornamental plants, promising for introduction, including in urban landscaping. Several species are medicinal plants, and even though recently the chemical composition of certain species of this genus has been studied, it was evident that this work must be continued to maximize the study of the possibilities of this genus. The article discusses the experience of introducing representatives of the genus Inula in the Main Botanical Garden named after N.V. Tsitsin RAS in the aspect of general introduction work both in the gardens of the former USSR, Western Europe, and the USA. The fact states that only natural species found in the natural flora of the USSR prevailed in the botanical gardens of the countries of the former USSR. At the same time, East Asian and Iranian-Turanian species are representatively represents in foreign botanical gardens. For the Russian flora and neighboring countries (within the borders of the former USSR), 33 species have been recorded, of which 15 species have undergone an introduction study at the Russian Academy Science (RAS). For all species studied at the GBS RAS, the flowering time in the conditions of central Russia was analyzed, the possibilities of using it both for decorative and other purposes were indicated. According to literary sources, the analysis of the component composition of raw materials of 16 natural species found within this region was carried out.

In the year 988 Prince Vladimir dramatically baptised his entire nation in the Dnepr River, thereby establishing a new state religion in what is now Ukraine. Fittingly, Kiev (or Kyiv to adopt the Ukrainian spelling) played host in May to a conference on ‘Religious Freedom: Transition and Globalisation’. Convened by the State Committee for Religious Affairs, the conference brought together academics from Western Europe and the USA with civil servants from the emergent democracies of the former USSR.

The article considers the proportions of mutual deliveries of goods in the triangle USA – Western Europe – East Asia in the recent decade. It is shown that the USA remained to be a net importer of industrial products while West European and East Asian countries were the net providers. The US deficit in goods’ trade with China and Germany exceeded the pre-crisis level. Still, the integral trade deficit of the USA remained lower than before the crisis, in particular because of lesser deficit in trade with oil producing countries and Japan. Reduction of China’s and Eurozone countries’ surplus in comparison to 2007-2008 can be explained by the dynamics of their trade with third countries (in particular, with the suppliers of energy resources which the prices turned back to high levels in post-crisis period). The same relate to a lesser extent to Japan which the surplus in trade with the USA did not reach the pre-crisis level. The author concludes that even during crisis and post-crisis periods the changes in balance of payments of the leading suppliers of mechanical engineering goods were mostly determined by their trade with the suppliers of raw materials rather than by the mutual trade.

The paper presents the results of studying the introduction of seven Tanacetum vulgare samples of different geographical origin in the Botanical garden at the Institute of Biology of Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of RAS. In the first year of life the plants of tansy ordinary are in the pregenerative period, from the second year they bloom regularly and bear fruit. It has been established that in the conditions of culture the species are highly resistant and long-lived (more than 12 years). The study of the seasonal development of plants Tanacetum vulgare has showed that all samples retain phenological rhythms peculiar to this species: stretched flowering periods (33-44 days) and fruiting periods (44-52 days). Early and late samples have been identified by the timing of the entry of plants into the flowering phase. The vegetation period from the beginning of vegetation to the formation of mature fruits is 116-138 days. The growth of plants in height (109-131 cm) continues to the phase of mass flowering. The highest average daily growth (2,6-3,6 cm) was observed in the budding phase. Morphological options of generative escape have been studied. It has been revealed that the signs characterizing the flora part of the escape vary in populations at high and very high levels, which indicates the real possibility of improving the population by the method of targeted selection. The productivity and component composition of the essential oil from above-ground phytomass Tanacetum vulgare have been determined. The obtained data indicate the possibility of cultivation of this species in order to obtain high-quality medicinal raw materials. The optimal method of growing plants to create long-term plantations has been revealed.

The creation of promising varieties of medicinal plants with useful properties is an actual direction. The acquisition of new highly productive varieties of medicinal plants and their introduction into the culture are successfully implemented in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, R. Krym. The purpose of this work was to determine the specific features of the essential oil composition of the highly productive varieties Monarda fistulosa L. to determine the prospects of its use in pharmacy and further standardization of raw materials. Essential oil from the aboveground part of Monarda fistulosa L. was obtained by hydrodistillation using the Ginsberg instrument, its content in the raw material reached 2.38% in terms of absolutely dry raw materials. The component composition of essential oil from the aboveground part of the Monarda fistulosa L. was studied by chromatography-mass spectrometry. The presence of 41 components was revealed, 38 of them were identified, the main group being monoterpenes and their derivatives. The highest content of p-cymene, thymol, thymoquinone, thymohydroquinone, carvacrol, γ-terpinene was found in the sample of essential oil. Evaluation of the data of chromatography-mass spectrometry confirms the prospects of using essential oil and Monarda fistulosa L. grass of the assayed variety in pharmaceutical and medical practice as an antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal and immunostimulating agent.

Field peas are mostly used for animal nutrition in the Balkan region and in the countries of the former USSR, while in the countries of Western Europe, Canada, the USA and the Middle East they are mostly used for human nutrition. Over three years (2010-2012), the yield and grain yield components of the most widespread field pea varieties were examined. The lowest number of plants was determined in 'NS Junior' intended for combined use (65 plants/m2), while 'Dukat' and 'Partner' had 88 and 85 plants/m2 on average, respectively. The average stem height was 158 cm for 'NS Junior', and 65 and 70 cm for 'Dukat' and 'Partner', respectively. 'Dukat' (4846 kg/ha) and 'Partner' (4521 kg/ha) had significantly higher grain yields compared with 'NS Junior' (2717 kg/ha). The content of crude protein in the grain was highest in 'NS Junior' (27.6%), while 'Dukat' and 'Partner' had lower contents (23-25%).

Relevance. It is known that peppermint (Mentha х piperita L.) is characterized by significant polymorphism, due to both genetic factors and growing conditions. Cultivated varieties and populations are distinguished by their economically significant characteristics, such as yield, winter hardiness, resistance to diseases, the content and composition of essential oil. Identification of new highly productive varieties and populations of Mentha x piperita L., distinguished by high productivity of essential oil in the Non-chernozem zone of the Russian Federation, as well as identification of morphological features characteristic of highly productive varieties, remains relevant.Methods. The object of the study was plants of 8 varieties of 2 year old plants and samples of Mentha x piperita L. from the collection of the SI Botanical Garden Rostovtsev RGAU-Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryazev and from the collection of the Botanical Garden of All-Russian Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (VILAR), were used as the object of the study. Peppermint leaves (FS.2.5.0029.15 Peppermint leaves) and essential oil (GOST R 53593-2009) are used as herbal medicinal products. Microscopy used Primo Star Carl Zeiss light microscopes and LOMO MIKMED-1. Quantitative determination of the essential oil was carried out by distillation with water vapor, followed by measuring the volume of the resulting oil (GF RF XIV). The oil content was expressed in volumetric-weight percent in terms of dry raw materials.Results. As a result of a comparative study of the epidermal structures of the leaves of plants of 8 varieties of Mentha х piperita L., the density of stomata, the type of stomatal apparatus, density of location and length of multicellular trichomes, density and diameter of essential oil glands, and content of essential oil were determined. The variety specificity and variation of these indices are noted over a wide range, which is explained by the significant intraspecific variability characteristic of the genus Mint (Mentha L.). The most promising varieties of essential oil content were identified.

The most important challenge in the field of introduction and acclimatization should be accumulation collection funds as the main base for research. The mobilization and testing of varietal diversity of flower and decorative crops in this regard are important significance in the development of the scientific foundations of decorative gardening and landscaping. Peony is one of the most beautiful and common flower crops. With a large palette of colors and a variety of flower shapes, peonies form a bush that, thanks to carved leaves, is decorative from early spring to late fall. The article presents the results of the research of comparative-literary analysis of scientific sources with the study of foreign experience of growing Ito-peonies for the purpose of using them in landscape design. The main objective of the research was to replenish the peony culture collection on the basis of the architectural and exposition plot of the Podillya Botanical Garden of Vinnytsia National Agrarian University with new Itoh Group varieties, their introductory cultivation and identification of the most promising decorative and valuable cultivars, cultivation, and cultivation in breeding work. The systematized and generalized data on the historical aspects of cultivation of Ito-peonies of foreign breeding are presented. The new interspecific ITO hybrids have the advantages of both parents: they took winter hardiness from grassy peonies (the aerial part dies in winter), and the shape and color of the flowers and leaves are inherited from tree-like ones. This achievement allowed us to expand the color gamut of winter-hardy peonies. During the experimental study, the use of the studied Paeonia L. species for the greening of cities, towns and private houses was found to improve the aesthetic perception of the designed objects. The original characteristics of the varieties and hybrids of Ito-peonies claimed by the originator showed the complete coincidence of varietal characteristics in all the parameters that determine their decorative affiliation. It is proved that under Podillya conditions the studied plants are characterized as valuable objects for increasing the range of flower and ornamental perennials in order to improve the condition of gardens and parks of Ukraine. According to the results of the varietal study of the American Peony Society, originality, high decorative and flowering duration in the Podillya area were established. It is proved that in addition to the high decorative properties of this group, there are also significant prospects for use in landscape design. Ito-peonies are of considerable importance in the landscaping of populated cities, including parks, squares, boulevards, waterfronts and private plots. The study group is classified as one of the most beautifully flowering perennial flower and decorative crops. A wide range of colors, a variety of flower shapes are created, creating a bush with ornamental foliage that does not lose its decorative effect from early spring to late autumn. Thus, the Itoh Group's research for the modern landscape gardening will allow to significantly expand the range of flower and ornamental plants in order to enrich the cultivated flora of the Podillya region and Ukraine as a whole. The results of the experiment will be used to replenish the collection of the Ito group on the basis of the architectural and exposition section of the Vinnytsia NAU for the practical activity of students of specialty 206 «Landscape gardening» and scientific and pedagogical staff.

Based on a long-term introduction study of the species native to the Russian Far East region, a representative collection was collected, including a wide range of ecological groups. On the basis of the conducted research, the peculiarities of the preservation of individual species in the collection fund (the ability to persist in culture for a long time, vegetative renewal, self-seeding) are revealed. It is noted that for a number of species, in addition to active vegetative overgrowth, mass self-seeding is also noted. Despite the prospects of such species in the introduction work, they can pose a potential threat to invasion. That is why only those species that are not characterized by regular and mass self-seeding are recommended for use in urban landscaping.
