В данной статье представлены результаты микроскопического исследования особенностей анатомического строения (листья, цветки) растения пижмы сантолинной (Tanacetum Santolina). Цель работы: изучение анатомического строения надземных органов, определение подлинности и отличия от других видов. Материалы и методы: объект исследования - цветки пижмы сантолинной, собранные в период цветения в мае 2020 года в предгорных равнинах Каратау. Микроскопическое исследование цветков пижмы сантолинной проводилось в соответствии с требованиями государственной фармакопеи Республики Казахстан. С помощью микроскопа Биолам-5 изучался объект с увеличением от х40 до х400. Исследование срезов и создание микрорисунков проводили с помощью цифрового камерного тринокулярного микроскопа «МТ300L» (Япония) (увеличенный 7х1,5х4,5; 7х1,5х8; 7х1,5х40). Результаты и обсуждения: изучены диагностические признаки для определения цельного сырья: диагностические признаки листьев, форма клеток эпидермиса, тип аппарата устьиц, строение волосков и эфирномасличных желез; формы оксалата кальция. Выводы: проведен микроскопический анализ цветков пижмы сантолинной. Для определения подлинности этого сырья были выявлены анатомодиагностические признаки. Во всех частях растения встречаются одноклеточные волоски и пучковые волокна. На обеих частях листовой пластины хорошо видны волокна и волоски, устьица, пигментные полости. Кристаллы оксалата кальция, находятся в мезофильных полостях листа. В цветках оксалат кальция встречается только в виде четырехугольного кристалла. На анатомическом признаке измельченного сырья видны эфирномасличные железки. Форма эфирно-масличных желез обнаруживает основные диагностические признаки цветков и листьев пижмы сантолинной. Анатомические характеристики позволяют повысить уровень стандартизации, дальнейшее изучение лекарственного растительного сырья This article presents the results of a microscopic study of the anatomical structure (leaves, flowers) of the Santolina’s tansy plant (Tanacetum Santolina). The purpose of the work: to study the anatomical structure of aerial organs, to determine authenticity and differences from other species. Materials and methods: the object of research is the flowers of Santolina’s tansy collected during the flowering period in May 2020 in the foothill plains of Karatau. Microscopic examination of the flowers of Santolina’s tansy was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Using a Biolam-5 microscope with magnification from x40 to x400 an object was studied. The study of sections and the creation of micro-nozzles was carried out using a digital chamber trinocular microscope "MT300L" (Japan) (enlarged 7x1.5x4.5; 7x1.5x8; 7x1.5x40). Results and discussions: diagnostic signs for the determination of whole raw materials were studied: diagnostic signs of leaves, the shape of epidermis cells, the type of stomatal apparatus, the structure of hairs and essential oil glands; forms of calcium oxalate. Conclusions: microscopic analysis of flowers of Santolina’s tansy was carried out. Anatomical and diagnostic signs were identified to determine the authenticity of this raw material. Unicellular hairs and beam fibers are found in all parts of the plant. Fibers and hairs, stomata, pigment cavities are clearly visible on both parts of the leaf plate. Calcium oxalate crystals are located in the mesophilic cavities of the leaf. In flowers, calcium oxalate occurs only in the form of a quadrangular crystal. On the anatomical feature of the crushed raw materials, essential oil glands are visible. The shape of the essential oil glands reveals the main diagnostic signs of flowers and leaves of santolina tansy. Anatomical characteristics make it possible to increase the level of standardization, further study of medicinal plant raw materials.

To elucidate the mechanism underlying special characteristic differences between a spontaneous seedling mutant ‘Huapi’ kumquat (HP) and its wild-type ‘Rongan’ kumquat (RA), the fruit quality, metabolic profiles, and gene expressions of the peel and flesh were comprehensively analyzed. Compared with RA, HP fruit has distinctive phenotypes such as glossy peel, light color, and few amounts of oil glands. Interestingly, HP also accumulated higher flavonoid (approximately 4.1-fold changes) than RA. Based on metabolomics analysis, we identified 201 differential compounds, including 65 flavonoids and 37 lipids. Most of the differential flavonoids were glycosylated by hexoside and accumulated higher contents in the peel but lower in the flesh of HP than those of RA fruit. For differential lipids, most of them belonged to lysophosphatidycholines (LysoPCs) and lysophosphatidylethanolamines (LysoPEs) and exhibited low abundance in both peel and flesh of HP fruit. In addition, structural genes associated with the flavonoid and lipid pathways were differentially regulated between the two kumquat varieties. Gene expression analysis also revealed the significant roles of UDP-glycosyltransferase (UGT) and phospholipase genes in flavonoid and glycerophospholipid metabolisms, respectively. These findings provide valuable information for interpreting the mutation mechanism of HP kumquat.

Acne vulgaris is a common chronic disease involving blockage and /or inflammation of pilosebaceous units. Acne can presents as noninflammatory lesions, inflammatory lesions, or a mixture of both, affecting mostly the face but also the back and chest. Typical features of the condition include blackheads or whiteheads, pimples, oily skin, and possible scarring. It primarily affects skin with a relatively high number of oil glands, including the face, upper part of the chest, and back. The resulting appearance can lead to anxiety, reduced self-esteem, and in extreme cases depression. It is the commonest dilemma associated with complexion and smoothness of skin .sometimes leading to major skin problems,  which is characterized by macula, papulo, pustular eruption on the skin, especially on the face. Both male and female gender of adolescent age group are commonly affected. Genetics is the primary cause of acne in 80%of cases. The role of diet and cigarette smoking in the condition is unclear and neither cleanliness nor exposure to sunlight appears to play a part. In both sexes, hormones called androgens appear to be part of the underlying mechanism, by causing increased production of sebum. In the Ayurvedic perspective Acne Vulgaris can be correlated with Mukhadushika . Mukhadushika is explained by Aacharya Sushruta under kshudra rogas and is considered as swatantra vyadhi in the ayurvedic literature. It is characterized by shalmali kantaka sadrusha pidika on the face. Mukhadushika is also called as Tarunya pitika.

The Pandan Wangi leaf plant is a plant that belongs to the Pandanaceae family. The metabolite content of fragrant pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius  Roxb.) Alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins are known to have an antifungal effect. Pityrosporum ovale is a yeast or single-celled fungus that belongs to the genus Malassezia sp, and belongs to the Cryptococcaceae family. Pityrosporum ovale causes superficial dermatomycosis which affects the stratum corneum in the epidermis layer. This fungus is a normal flora on the scalp, but in conditions of hair with excess oil glands, this fungus can thrive. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibition zone of fragrant pandanus leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) Concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% of Pytirosporum ovale on Potato Dextrose Agar media by diffusion method using disc paper. The diffusion method was used to measure the diameter of the zone of inhibition against fungal growth. The positive control used was ketoconazole 2% and negative control DMSO 1%. The results of the study using the diameter of the inhibition zone at a concentration of 10% were 7.86 mm, the inhibition zone at a concentration of 20% was 8.53 mm, the inhibition zone at a concentration of 30% was 8.76 mm, and the inhibition zone at a concentration of 40% was 9, 43 mm.

The article reports the results of microscopic studies of the oregano leaf in the pre-blossom period. In particular, the following anatomical and morphological features of the oregano leaf during the pre-blossom period were revealed: sinuous cuticle, multicellular simple trichomes, capitate trichomes, stomata, essential oil glands. The latter were located only in the central part, and were absent at the margins. The essential oil glands were of high density mostly in the central part of the raw materials preparation, which were harvested from the regions of dry climatic conditions as opposed to the raw materials harvested from the region of wet climatic conditions. The results of the investigation were definitely conditioned by the climatic features of the regions.

Fertilization plays an irreplaceable role in raising crop yields; however, there are issues with unnecessary and blind use of chemical fertilizers, which raise the risk of contamination in the atmosphere. It is hypothesized that fertilization of nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S) will together improve the essential oil (EO) yield and composition of Tagetes minuta L. Thus, 2 years field experiment were carried out to evaluate the outcomes of N (0, 60, 90, and 120 kg ha–1) and S levels (0, 20, 40, and 60 kg ha–1) on T. minuta during 2018 and 2019. The growth, biomass, EO content and composition were influenced (P = 0.05) by N and S fertilization. N at 120 kg ha–1 and S at 60 kg ha–1 registered higher biomass (183.89 and 178.90 q ha–1, respectively) and EO yield (102.09 and 88.60 kg ha–1, respectively), than control. Stomatal density reduced significantly with increase of N and S levels, however, density of oil glands substantially increased with S at 40 and 60 kg ha–1. The major component of EO (Z-β-ocimene) significantly increased with 120 kg N ha–1 (42.59%) and 60 kg S ha–1 (42.35%), respectively. Available nutrients in soil and plant tissues substantially increased with N and S fertilization upto 120 and 60 kg ha–1, respectively. The highest nutrient use efficiency traits were recorded at 60 kg N ha–1 and 20 kg S ha–1. It was concluded that 120 kg N ha–1 and 40 kg S ha–1 can be proposed for T. minuta as a result of agronomic responses, which serves as a sustainable means of cropping.

ABSTRACTBackgroundOribatid mites are a specious order of microarthropods within the subphylum Chelicerata, compromising about 11,000 described species. They are ubiquitously distributed across different microhabitats in all terrestrial ecosystems around the world and were among the first animals colonizing terrestrial habitats as decomposers and scavengers. Noted for their biosynthesis capacities and biochemical diversity, the majority of oribatid mites possess a pair of exocrine opisthonotal oil-glands used for chemical defense and communication. Genomic resources are lacking for oribatids despite their species richness and ecological importance.ResultsWe used a comparative genomic approach to investigate the developmental, sensory and glandular biosynthetic gene repertoire of the clonal, all-female oribatid mite species Archegozetes longisetosus Aoki, a model species used by numerous laboratories for the past 30 years. Here, we present a 190-Mb genome assembly constructed from Nanopore MinION and Illumina sequencing platforms with 23,825 predicted protein-coding genes. Genomic and transcriptional analyses revealed patterns of reduced body segmentation and loss of segmental identity gene abd-A within Acariformes, and unexpected expression of key eye development genes in these eyeless mites across developmental stages. Consistent with the soil dwelling lifestyle, investigation of the sensory genes revealed a species-specific expansion of gustatory receptors, the largest chemoreceptor family in the genome used in olfaction, and evidence of horizontally transferred enzymes used in cell wall degradation of plant and fungal matter, both components of the Archegozetes longisetosus diet. Using biochemical and genomic data, we were able to delineate the backbone biosynthesis of monoterpenes, an important class of compounds found in the major exocrine gland system of Oribatida – the oil glands.ConclusionsWith the Archegozetes longisetosus genome, we now have the first high-quality, annotated genome of an oribatid mite genome. Given the mite’s strength as an experimental model, the new sequence resources provided here will serve as the foundation for molecular research in Oribatida and will enable a broader understanding of chelicerate evolution.

Orange peel oil is stored in the oil glands located on the outer skin. Orange peel contains cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin and other components. Microorganisms can damage the skin layer and are expected to increase oil yield. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of natural fermentation on citrus peel waste on yield and quality of the essential oils produced. This study used natural fermentation time as a treatment factor for 2, 3, and 4 days. The results of this study indicated that the natural fermentation time that occurs in kalamansi peel waste can increase the oil yield. Natural fermentation for 4 days produces the highest yield. This natural fermentation process also does not affect the quality characteristics of the oil.

In the study, it is aimed to create breeding lines of thyme (Thymbra spicata L.), which is important both culturally and economically, by selecting a single plant among the plants grown in different regions in Hatay. For this purpose, a genetic pool was created for Thymbra spicata L. plant in the plant samples taken from the locations where the plants are densely grown, and these plants were examined in terms of leaf characteristics, number of oil glands per unit area, oil gud size and essential oil components. Plants were propagated and preserved with cuttings taken from these single plants. In this study, which includes the pre-selection stage, 213 plants from 68 different locations were determined in the province of Hatay. The essential oil ratios of the plants varied between 0.70% and 3.90% and showed a wide variation. The rate of carvacrol, which is the main component of the essential oil of the thyme plant, was between 28.12% and 78.48%. Plants with code number Z14, Z3, Z25, Z38, Z77, Z104, Z35 and Z43 with an essential oil ratio of 3.5% and above and plants with code number Z167, Z165 and Z64 with a high carvacrol ratio were selected to be used in future breeding studies.

In the study, a genetic pool was created with plant samples taken from the locations where the Thymbra spicata var. spicata L. plant, which is culturally and economically important, grows densely in the province of Hatay. Plants were propagated with cuttings taken from these single plants. 213 plants were collected from 68 different locations for the genetic pool. The leaves of the plants in this gene pool were examined in terms of the number of essential oil glands per unit area and the diameter of the essential oil glands. The number of glands per unit area in plant leaves showed a wide variation and ranged from 5.61 to 56.04 pieces/mm². The diameters of the oil glands varied between 75.40 - 112.86 µm and the average diameter was determined as 94.09 µm. In the study, it was determined that some plants with low essential oil ratios such as Z144 and Z158 also have low oil glands number and oil glands diameter. It would be appropriate to evaluate these values obtained as preliminary knowledge together with future ontogenetic variability studies.
