The multifunctionality of the city makes it possible to consider it from the point of view of the urbanized landscape, giving due attention to the concept of its sustainable development. The development is based on the landscape-ecological approach, which makes it possible to analyze the natural, social, economic and urban planning subsystems of the city’s land-property complex. This approach made it possible to assess natural and anthropogenic processes, to establish the degree of degradation of the urban landscape and, based on the method of analyzing hierarchies, the results of sociocultural surveys, to develop a set of measures for the rational organization of the use and protection of urban lands [1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9-11].

The scientific heritage of M. R. G. Conzen, who is considered one of the most outstanding historical geographers and urban morphologists in the world, has made a huge impact on the contemporary urban historic morphology. Nowadays it would be very hard to imagine this scientific discipline without his achievements. He created a new point of view on the city, first within the Anglo-Saxon, and afterwards within European and world geography. Morphogenetic methods, the conceptualisation of historic development, terminological precision as well as cartographic analysis that were typical of his approach, more and more often were considered essential for the development and the role of research on historic urban landscape. This resulted in the increasing interest in morphological studies on an international scale. In Poland, M. R. G. Conzen’s opinions have become recognizable since 1960, finding permanent place in urban historic morphology and providing stimuli for its significant development in the following decades.

The article examines the features of the perception of the urban environment as a specific phe- nomenon. The article considers the artistic works of a group of contemporary Ukrainian artists P. Makov, A. Sai, L. Dzhuraev, A. Priduvalov in the genre of urban landscape from the point of view of a conceptual approach, which allows us to understand the general direction of development of this type of genre. The works of contemporary Ukrainian artists reflect how a modern city creates an endless combination of connections between different aspects of life and the corresponding various forms and impressions. The article analyzes the works that the authors demonstrated as their reflections on changes in the urban environment in special creative projects. The urban environment causes a creative person to strive to convey his atmosphere, images, rhythms in his own language. For centuries, artists have depicted the urban space, but it was in the twentieth century that the transformation of the urban environment into an urban one contributed to the fact that the city became a source of special inspiration for subsequent times. The theme of urbanism is specific in the work of contemporary Ukrainian artists, where the very phenomenon of the city is the basis of creative inspiration. The aim of this work is to study the conceptual and programmatic works of contemporary Ukrainian artists to reveal the theme of urbanism in painting and the main trends in displaying the city as a concept in the work of artists.

Kirovsk town, located near Hibiny Mountain in the Murmansk region, is known as the industrial center as well as the favorable area for tourism industry development. On the example of Kirovsk town we examined the problem of functional urban zoning of the territory with intensive tourism and recreational development. Based on anintegrated assessment of the territory, analysis of space images and the general scheme of the city development we created the map of functional planning of Kirovsk town and territories of its jurisdiction. The content of existing and projected planning zoneswas disclosed and detailed. In total 10 categories of urban landuse are identified: residential, public, tourist and recreational, sport, industrial, agricultural lands, parks and forest plantations, etc. Current spatial-functional conflicts between the zones used for public utilities, industrial facilities and the zones of potential tourism and recreational (mountain skiing) development are defined as well as the recommendations for its mitigations are proposed. The ecological risks of urban development are analyzed, and the list of environment protection actions is proposed for the functional zones of Kirovsk town. The territories were ranked by favorable and relatively favorable zones of tourist-recreational and sports-recreational developmenttaking into account the identified natural and natural-anthropogenic processes. The conclusion of necessity to adjust the territorial city structure to its new role of tourism, recreational and ski center is made. The general factors, which should be considered in process of urban development, are identified. They include the comprehensive design of city environment considering the greening, the recultivation of industrial plots, located close to tourism and recreational, public zones of the city center, and the features of urban landscape and revealed risks of natural and natural-anthropogenic processes.

Of the solidity of the unfinished affections: the city of Wong Kar Wai Abstract: This study presents our reflections on the representation of the city in Wong Kar-Wai's cinematographic work. In order to approach the relevant reflections of this filmmaker on the urban landscape and the insertion of the man in his bosom, we find it important to understand the very notion of space in the cinema and to work with the images by this director created from his power to generate synesthetic perceptions and haptic visuals. The interest of this study leaves its focus on the diegetic space and the narrative instances that found it, in the profilmic and extra-filmic space and in the mechanisms proper to the cinematographic language that are capable of producing specific forms of space apprehension. Let us focus on the creation of haptic visuals and film atmospheres that will be relevant to the construction of the city's visuality and their entanglements with the fate of the characters in Wong Kar Wai's work from the point of view of the Art Direction. Keywords: Art Direction, Haptic Visual, city

In this essay, I examine the inclusion of the civilization/barbarism binary in the literature of modernistas writers. To this end, I will briefly analyze the historic contexts after the independence of the colonies and the new neo-imperialist order that settled in the city and demanded social, economic and urban changes that affected the entire social strata. At the same time, I will explain how the formation of a new citizen was undertaken, as it had to follow certain behavioral guidelines to isolate itself from barbarism and savagery of places far away from the metropolis. With it I will justify the importance of the so-called ciudad letrada (city of letters) in the formation of new modern nations and describe the birth of the modernist writer, self-defined by its individuality and the contradictions involved in its writing. I will explain my arguments with the texts that, born in the process of modernity, claim the tradition of denying the capitalist utilitarian society into which they are inserted.

The ditches and canals of Livorno, also called Fossi, are the most characterized elements the city, not only from a historical point of view, but also and above all from an urban landscape characterization point of view. Due to the overlapping of skills not yet resolved, fragmented information and data exist regarding the real extent of the pleasure craft, the status of the canals, the provision of services and general safety. The hypothesis is to succeed, through a multi-criteria assessment of scenarios, to support and quantify the displacement of vessels that negatively affect accessibility and the landscape of Livorno's Fossi system elsewhere.

This paper presents the result of an empirical study on mapping three Italian cities from the point of view of migrants during the first period of their stay. It aims at exploring an emerging issue in the contemporary government of a city that is increasingly inhabited by transitory populations: the relationship of its new inhabitants to the urban landscape. Drawing upon a method introduced by Kevin Lynch, 150 maps of the ‘landfall city’ came to life; in the first part the research method and its first application in Milan are presented; in the second part other two surveys, in Rovereto and Bologna, are introduced within the project “Migrants Mapping Europe”, aimed at incrementally building an European map of the present that brings to surface the meaning and forms of the transitory living conditions in the territories of contemporaneity.

s, including the use of urbonymic systems from the point of view of their communicative existence. Urbonymes, their typology, linguistic analysis of functioning of systems of Kazakhstan cities-related onomastic terms are promising issues of Kazakhstan’s Russian studies. The authors emphasize the close relation of onomastic processes to the society life. The formation of onomastic space of independent Kazakhstan and the definition of its national expression are considered by the researchers as one of the most important problems of the modern Kazakhstan linguistics. Language planning and language policy should become an integral part of a general policy aimed at improving the social, economic and cultural situation in the city. This provision is significant for the nomination process in Pavlodar, the onomastic system of which, like of a similar system of any Kazakhstan city, reflects the sociocultural changes taking and having already taken place. The article specifically shows promising new approaches to the study of the city, in particular, from the standpoint of study of general cultural landscape of the city.

This article investigates the relationship between urban landscapes and the challenges imposed by climate change. As a case study, the city of Copenhagen is discussed from both a normative and practical point of view. The article investigates the normative and planning process that has brought the urban landscape of Copenhagen one step closer towards a more effective interaction between natural and human factors, as outlined in the CEP. In addition, the paper also presents examples of nature-based solutions to improve adaptation to climate change, reducing the environmental risks and improving the quality of life. A positive aspect of the city planning process is that climate change provides a framework for all projects and is a primary driver of urban regeneration.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the cinematographic resource of exploring the city and its urban landscape as a film character. Our proposal is provoking a reflection on how this personage, the city, can highlight cultural, political and ideological issues as well as how the city perception can be changed by a film repercussion. We will focus on discussions raised in fields such as Space Philosophy, Urban Anthropology, Cultural Geography and even the Real Estate Market by analyzing examples from different nationalities and backgrounds that can provide a starting point for a global point of view. In order to examine this hypothesis, some proposed films are: “Roma”, by Alfonso Cuarón (Mexico, 2018), “Aquarius” by Kleber Mendonça Filho (Brazil, 2016) and “Midnight in Paris” by Woody Allen (EUA, 2011).
