The rational energy consumption during the construction period is formed at the stage of organizational and technological design by a system of energy-correcting measures. The implementation of the complex of measures allows balancing energy consumption and ensuring a high-quality production process with all types of energy users, infrastructural elements of the construction site, and the organization of the operating mode of machines, mechanisms, and labor resources. The object of the study is a complex of developed energy-correcting measures in the organizational and technological design of construction projects. Research methods include multi-criteria analysis based on expert assessments applied to the developed set of energy-correcting measures for the main types of energy consumers in the organizational and technological modeling of the construction process. This analysis of fuel and energy resources consumption by enlarged consumer groups – machines, mechanisms, and equipment; technological processes and infrastructure of the construction site. Varying the time parameters of beginning of the construction works has a significant influence on the consumption of fuel and energy resources for certain groups of consumers. The results of scientific research are presented in the form of a variable complex of energy-correcting measures that allow to flexibly regulating energy consumption in the process of organizational and technological design of buildings.

High population density, dense high-rise buildings, and impervious pavements increase the vulnerability of cities, which aggravate the urban climate environment characterized by the urban heat island (UHI) effect. Cities in China provide unique information on the UHI phenomenon because they have experienced rapid urbanization and dramatic economic development, which have had a great influence on the climate in recent decades. This paper provides a review of recent research on the methods and impacts of UHI on building energy consumption, and the practical techniques that can be used to mitigate the adverse effects of UHI in China. The impact of UHI on building energy consumption depends largely on the local microclimate, the urban area features where the building is located, and the type and characteristics of the building. In the urban areas dominated by air conditioning, UHI could result in an approximately 10–16% increase in cooling energy consumption. Besides, the potential negative effects of UHI can be prevented from China in many ways, such as urban greening, cool material, water bodies, urban ventilation, etc. These strategies could have a substantial impact on the overall urban thermal environment if they can be used in the project design stage of urban planning and implemented on a large scale. Therefore, this study is useful to deepen the understanding of the physical mechanisms of UHI and provide practical approaches to fight the UHI for the urban planners, public health officials, and city decision-makers in China.

Abstract The paper deals with the possibilities of reducing the consumption of electrical energy of the impact screwdriver during the assembly of fixed threaded joints. The recommendations related to a decrease in electrical energy consumption would allow reducing product costs but so far there have been no such recommendations from the producers of the tool as to the effective operating regimes of the impact screwdrivers in relation to electrical energy consumption and necessary tightening moment of the nut. The aim of the study is to find out the economical operating mode of the electrical impact screwdriver when assembling fixed threaded joints. By varying the set speed of the rotor head and working time of the impact mechanism, there is an opportunity to determine electrical energy consumption of the tool for the given tightening moment. The results of the experiment show that at the same tightening moment obtained the electrical energy consumption of the impact screwdriver is less at a higher starting set speed of the rotor head but shorter operating time of the impact mechanism than at a lower speed of the rotor head and longer operating time of the impact mechanism.

The thermal performance of economical housing located in hot climates remains a pending subject, especially in emerging economies. A cellular concrete mixture was designed, considering its thermophysical properties, to apply the new material into building envelopes. The proposed materials have low density and thermal conductivity to be used as a nonstructural lightweight construction element. From the design stage, a series of wall systems based on cellular concrete was proposed. Whereas in the second phase, the materials were analyzed to obtain the potential energy savings using dynamic simulations. It is foreseen that the energy consumption in buildings located in these climates will continue to increase critically due to the temperature increase associated with climate change. The temperatures predicted mean vote (PMV), electric energy consumption, and CO2 emissions were calculated for three IPCC scenarios. These results will help to identify the impact of climate change on the energy use of the houses built under these weather conditions. The results show that if the conventional concrete blocks continue to be used, the air conditioning energy requirements will increase to 49% for 2030 and 61% by 2050. The proposed cellular concrete could reduce energy consumption between 15% and 28%, and these saving rates would remain in the future. The results indicate that it is necessary to drive the adoption of lightweight materials, so the impact of energy use on climate change can be reduced.

Facing the trend of energy crisis in the future, energy saving must start from aspects of the design. In China, the railway traction energy consumption is more than 80 per cent of energy consumption in the railway industry as a whole. First of all, this paper presents the energy consumption calculation of a single train, and analyzes the impact of energy consumption on the type of locomotive selection, then calculates total energy consumption and costs under the conditions of different ruling grades and route alternatives based on the life cycle of railway construction projects, which provides a scientific basis to determine the ruling grade and route alternatives. Finally, it illustrates an analysis of processes and methods of calculation through the Hainan West Ring Railway case.

Mobile computing technology has an enormous potential in civil engineering, mainly in the field of construction management. This paper presents an approach by using mobile computing in a civil engineering construction project, exploring how information can be exchanged at a construction site, and how billing of quantities (BOQ), drawings and specifications are shared for the benefit of the project. One of the major obstacles in using information technology (IT) when applied to civil engineering is due to the dynamic changes in the construction activities and the diversity of construction methods as compared to other industries. This has proved to be a great disadvantage when trying to give construction sites adequate IT support. Computers require infrastructure, which can be transferred easily to the head office, but rarely to the construction site itself in a systematic way. Therefore, the impact of IT on the way the construction industry actually works has not been significantly utilized. This paper consists of two main parts. The first part defines the concept of mobile computing, describes some recent research, and stresses the potential for the construction industry. The second part is focuses on an approach, implementing mobile computing in a real construction site.

Abstract. At the present stage of development of the construction industry, steps to improve the efficiency of investment and construction projects can no longer be considered outside the context of construction information modeling technologies. Today, one of the main criteria for optimizing work on investment and construction projects is to reduce the time spent searching, working out and agreeing on spatial, financial, and temporal information about the construction object, therefore, the issue of the correct organization of information modeling of a construction site is quite relevant. In most cases, the design assignment is drawn up in the form given in Appendix B DBN A 2.2-2-2014 and is formal in nature. The presence of a design assignment, drawn up using the tools proposed below, reflects the thoroughness of the customer's elaboration of an investment and construction project, and reduces the risks of its implementation. The proposed methodology is based on three components of counter design, such as disaggregation, aggregation, and decomposition, from which its name – DAD –approach comes from. Allocation of structural elements in the structure of a building by disaggregation (analysis of alternative options) allows to create its model in the form of a hierarchical structure consisting of detailed and mutually synchronized parts - the configuration of the building. In accordance with the configuration of the construction site, hierarchical numbering is further reflected at all stages of design and in all its sections, incl. stamps of drawings and local estimates. This creates a unified system of interconnection and control of project sections. The creation of a construction site configuration in the form of a tree model with hierarchically numbered elements at the pre-design stage allows it to be applied at subsequent stages of the life cycle of a construction object in information modeling technologies. The use of the DAD – approach in counter-design is intended to increase the efficiency of the implementation of investment and construction projects.

In this article, the grades of different kinds of energy sources are distinguished. Thus, we put forward an equivalent electric calculation method, which is compliant with the calculation of various energy resources that have different grades. Based on this aspect, we empirically analyzed the influence of industrial structure changing on energy consumption structure by analyzing panel data in 30 provinces of China from 2003 to 2013. Results showed that the calculated results of equivalent electric calculation method were more accurate because it considered the difference in grades between various energy sources. Industrial structure changing had a significant impact on energy consumption structure. The upgrading and rationalization of the industrial structure had a significant promotion on energy structure cleaning. In addition, technological progress was conducive to the clean development of energy structure, the decrease in energy price boosted energy structure cleaning, and the impact of economic level on energy consumption structure was not significant.

Objective: to investigate the problem of environmentally friendly efficiency of energy services of an industrial enterprise in the management system of economic processes, which would be based on the assessment of financial, economic, social and environmental effects on the final activity of the industrial enterprise. Method. The following methods were used in the process of research: analysis and synthesis, logic, theoretical generalization, comparison, causation. Results. The article examines the environmental acceptability of energy production and energy consumption, which is the main component of energy security. The efficiency of energy consumption in Ukraine is analyzed. The total greenhouse gas emissions in the energy sector have been studied. It is determined that the total greenhouse gas emissions are divided into four key areas: energy generation; extraction and processing of energy resources; transport; for consumption. It is determined that the only relatively universal and comparable for international and regional comparisons indicator of energy efficiency and environmentally oriented economy is the indicator of energy intensity of GDP, taking into account purchasing power parity (PPS). The problem of efficient ecologically oriented use of energy resources for industry is substantiated. The dynamics of energy consumption of machine-building enterprises of Ukraine and their energy intensity are analyzed. It is determined that machine-building enterprises have a significant resource of energy saving, and hence a significant resource of reducing the negative impact on the environment, the implementation of which is possible primarily due to structural changes and does not require significant financial resources. It is substantiated that the service of the chief power engineer is engaged in development and implementation of measures on energy saving, energy saving and environmental protection at the enterprises. Based on the specifics of the functioning of the energy sector, a chain of influence of the efficiency of energy services on the efficiency of the industrial enterprise is formed. The peculiarity of the proposed chain is the real requirements for taking into account the impact of energy on the functioning of the enterprise as a whole and on the external environment in both forward and reverse directions. Scientific novelty. The proposed chain of influence of efficiency of energy services on efficiency of the industrial enterprise allows to position efficiency of energy economy of the industrial enterprise in the general system of formation of efficiency of the enterprise and to specify its components through financial and economic, social and ecological effect. Practical significance. The study proved the need to clarify by taking into account the impact of the energy service in the form of emissions, discharges and wastes, which allows you to manage the efficiency of the enterprise as a whole taking into account the efficiency triad (environmental, social, economic component). as a strategic priority for the development of Ukraine. Key words: environmental factor, energy resources, energy intensity, environmental safety, energy saving.

Abstract The need to maintain quality environment despite the increasing human activity and pressure on energy resources remains a topical issue in the field of Environmental Economics. However, we observe that the impact of energy consumption on ecological footprint in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has not received keen attention in the literature. This study thus delves into the nexus for the country group. For a more robust policy bearing, we partition the countries into Middle-East and non-Middle-East members because of their huge energy supply and consumption differences. Summarizing the results, energy consumption increases environmental degradation across all samples. However, despite the Middle-East countries being the highest per capita energy consumers, their energy consumption contributes less to environmental degradation compared to the non-Middle-East countries. For completeness, we report the long-run country-specific estimates and find that only in Congo is environmental quality enhanced by energy consumption.
