SummaryThe possible conclusions reached by catamnestical studies are often significantly restricted because of the lack of representativeness of the sample. The example of an investigation of former patients of the Department of Social Psychiatry proves that positive responses to an interview are influenced by various factors. As expected, patients were more inclined to participate in the research project the closer their discharge was to the time of the project itself. Further, it became clear that various different approach strategies, such as letters, enquiries with the registration authorities, phone calls and house visits, effectively increased the motivation of former patients, and that only this kind of graded registration procedure guarantees motivation leading to a sample representative of the total population. Personal contact plays an especially important role. These empirical findings indicate the necessity of careful planning and implementation of sample collection in catamnestical studies. Without this approach, representative results cannot be expected.

Abstract Mathematics learning support centres (MLSC) are widely established and evaluated in English-speaking countries (such as the UK, Ireland and Australia). In most of these countries, several national surveys on MLSCs exist. They give an overview of the number of MLSCs as well as their characteristics in these countries. In Germany, there is a lack of studies on MLSCs and the landscape of MLSCs has not been described yet. This article presents basic information concerning counts of MLSCs and their characteristics at universities. Based on a three-step approach of analysing university homepages and additional personal contact via email or phone calls, we gathered typical MLSC features (e.g. staff quantities and qualification, opening and support hours, supported study programmes). We analysed 190 universities from a web-based register on study programmes. In total, we found 61 MLSCs located at 51 German universities. Another 16 support centres were specialized on mathematics didactics, which means they focussed on didactical and methodological support for preservice teacher students and often provided different teaching materials. Thirty-eight centres were located at universities (62.3%) and 23 MLSCs at universities of applied sciences and comparable universities (37.7%). The MLSCs were different in their sizes of staff and opening hours, and both the numbers of staff and the service hours differed greatly. The student groups MLSCs at German universities focus on differ concerning characteristics like study programme or semester. We will provide the main categories describing these groups. We seek to answer research questions concerning the characteristics of MLSCs in Germany and discuss the results compared to international findings. This information is useful for further international collaborative research, for example a standardized international survey. From a national perspective, these findings support networking and collaborations between the MLSCs as well. As some German MLSCs are facing financial cuts, these results might help in gaining additional funding.

Abstract : This study aims to describe the ability to write a bid ad for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lawa. This type of research is classroom research because researchers are directly involved in SMP Neger 1 Lawa espencially in class VIII as a place to obtain research data. The method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method that presents data found in the field relating to the ability to write a bid advertisement for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lawa, which is then described using numbers with statistical principles. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lawa in the 2019/2020 school year. The population is divided into five classes, so the sample collection in this study was 105 from a total population of 144 students. The instrument used in this study was a test of writing ability. The results showed that individually there were 58 (55,23%) students included in the category of able and 47 (44,76%) studests were categorized as unable because they had not yet reached the 85% completeness criteria. Keywords: ability; writing; advertising offer

Background: Veterinarians in field conditions access different sources for gathering information on dairy husbandry activities. The information source used most frequently must be given due importance by the researchers and scientists to provide quality information. Methods: The present study was conducted among 120 field veterinarians of coastal Odisha. The sources used by the respondent veterinarians were identified and analysed for the extent of usage of the sources. The mean was calculated for frequency of accessing different sources for information on dairy husbandry activities as per the data collected in a 3-point continuum scale namely Always (2), Sometimes (1) and Never (0) and ranks were assigned accordingly. The effect of different independent variables on different information sources was analysed using one way ANOVA. Result: It was reported that usage of internet by the respondents was ranked 1st followed by WhatsApp 2nd, Personal contact 3rd, Phone calls 4th, Technical literatures 5th, books 6th, journals 7th, TV 8th, Apps 9th, SMS 10th and email 11th respectively. It was observed that the female respondent veterinarians were using books and journals significantly more than their male counterparts. Significant difference was observed in usage of books for acquiring information between the respondent veterinarians of young age group (up to 35 years) and old age group ( greater than 50 years). Significant differences were observed between the respondent veterinarians with less than 10 years of job experience and greater than 20 years of experience for using personal contact method with the lower estimates for the higher experienced group.

For a research project on mass spectrometry, a streamlined, harmonized and robust analytical pipeline is built to predict tumor recurrence. By means of standardization all steps from sample collection, analysis, proteome, and metabolome analysis are harmonized. Challenges like non-central identificators and distributed data are overcome with a centralized high-performant IT-platform in combination with a pseudonymization service and harmonization.

In this paper we attempt to write a conceptual contribution on the possibilities for intervening in contexts of exclusion and where 'raising voices' is at stake. It can be argued that organizations can only be vehicles, i.e. spaces for intervention, which need explicitly to be related to societal discourses. This conceptual framework is developed in the context of a research project focusing on intervention initiatives in Danish social psychiatry, re-addressing the position of psychiatric patients. It is effected through exploring three conceptual lines. First, we re-read the literature of OD from a becoming ontology, indicating its exclusion of history and time as part of its analytic frame. Second, we develop the notion of 'care of the self as a way to understand how one can work patiently at one's own (discursive) limits. Third, we develop a conceptual frame of nomadic intervention, through the writings of Deleuze and Guattari, which makes such a nomadic practice of the care of the self possible. The paper seeks to be stone thrown in the water, where OD and HRM is active, and where the expanding circles in the water remind us that every concrete intervention is a matter of politics/ ethics.
