Abstract The Semarang City Government prohibits groundwater/deep wells in hotel and apartment buildings because the use of groundwater or deep wells in locations that have experienced subsidence will further aggravate the subsidence. The method used in this research is to purposively select hotel and apartment buildings in Semarang that have received an assessment by the Semarang City Building Expert Team and have received a certificate of serviceability. Furthermore, compare the map of land subsidence in some areas of the city of Semarang with the natural water sources used by the hotel and apartment buildings. The research results showed that from 10 hotel and apartment buildings, there were 7 that used deep wells in zone level II, namely subsidence between 2.1 to 4 cm/year. Meanwhile, 3 other hotel and apartment buildings use water from the Municipal Drinking Water Company of Semarang. The existence of hotel and apartment buildings that use groundwater/deep wells in zone level II will increase and trigger the more significant subsidence in the area, thereby increasing the level of subsidence to level III.

<p><em>In recent years, with the rapid development of the media, an increasing number of corporations and even government agencies are using the new format known as the micro film as a means of advertising</em><em> and</em><em> marketing. In this study, we </em><em>took</em><em> the micro films produced by the Taipei City Government </em><em>as objects of analysis to</em><em> investigate the image of the city as constructed in and produced by these films. Furthermore, </em><em>in this study, </em><em>the symbol of image in </em><em>three such micro films </em><em>was </em><em>studied: Love@Taipei, My Micro Tour of Taipei, and Happily Ever After. It was found that in these films, the characteristics of the city of Taipei have </em><em>been </em><em>presented accurately and successfully </em><em>by means of</em><em> the [appropriate selection of] celebrity performers, the romance narratives used, and the lively presentation of these films. Therefore, these films have foregrounded </em><em>an</em><em> image of Taipei that is free, friendly, diverse, and progressive; furthermore, they have successfully conveyed the idea that “Taipei is a city that is positive and capable of outstanding achievements”</em><em>.</em><em> These films, designed to attract audiences, have been made with great skill and portray little elements of the government-run campaigns they are actually part of, thus making them even more entertaining for viewers.</em><em></em></p>

Guaranteeing a safe and continuous drinking water supply for the city of Cali, Colombia, has become a concern for the water company of Cali, the environmental authorities, universities, and entities involved in the water resource. The progressive deterioration of the city's water sources has led to a search for future water sources and/or technologies in order to ensure high water quality standards at minimal costs. This paper describes a variety of problems occurring in the current water supply system in Cali and gives a description of the alternatives that have been considered to solve these problems in the past decades. Multi-criteria analysis was applied to assess alternatives for safe drinking supplies, demonstrating their suitability during the decision-making process when constraints arise due to political, community and institutional interests.

Under the Smart City Project, Guwahatians got facility of Water ATMs. In this research main aim is to find out the optimal locations in the city on the basis of internal factors of the location (like quantity and quality of water etc.) so that maximum number of citizens avail the benefits of water ATM. There are sets of Water ATMs that cannot be taken down together, because they have certain critical functions like -installation of new software, update of existing software, installation of required equipment, raw water supply problem, maintenance of pipelines, change the capacity of water tanks, electricity problem, plumbing or all routine maintenance etc. This is a typical scheduling application of graph coloring problem. It turned out that 3 colors were good enough to color the graph of 12 nodes. So they could install updates in 3 passes.

The Cikapundung River is one of the rivers that divides the city of Bandung and is often used as the main drainage center of the city, the flow of sewage or waste, tourism objects, and raw water sources. This causes the importance of observing reliable discharge values flowing on the Cikapundung River. In this study the authors analyzed the availability of minimum river discharge in Cikapundung Hulu Sub Das using the FJ Mock method. This study uses rainfall data and climatology data. The rainfall data used are rainfall data from Dago Pakar station and Meteo Lembang station, with a span of 10 years while the climatological data used is data from the Bandung Geophysical Station with a span of 10 years. Mainstay discharge calculated using the F.J Mock Method, where in the F.J Mock calculation there are a number of parameters assumed. This modeling test process is by calibrating the parameters assumed by Trial and Error.  The average discharge magnitude for Q50, Q80, Q90, and Q95 in calculating the mock model in the period 2008 to 2014 resulted in a value of 3.87 m³ / sec; 2.98 m³ / sec; 2.46 m³ / sec; and 2.21 m³ /sec. While the discharge values of Q50, Q80, Q90, and Q95 in the observation debit produce successive values of 3.85 m³ / sec; 2.45 m³ / sec; 2.05 m³ / sec; and 1.91 m³ / sec. Even with the increase in the calculation period, reliable debit values have a tendency to rise.

To reduce the crowds during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bogor City Government implemented an odd-even system for all vehicles in the city of Bogor at the end of the operation. Since the implementation of this policy, many opinions have been conveyed through social media. An analysis is needed to find out how effective the policy is based on public opinion. For this reason, an analysis of the sentiment application of the odd-even system for vehicles in the city of Bogor was carried out during the pandemic. The purpose of this study is to determine the accuracy, recall, and precision and calculate the amount of emotion obtained from sentiment analysis by using several algorithms for the application and application of selection features that can provide sentiment information related to the effectiveness of the software system in Bogor City. The research stages started from the selection of data, pre-processing, implementation, validation, and evaluation. Based on this research, it can be found that the Support Vector Machine algorithm with the application of Particle Swarm Optimization shows the results of the greatest assessment on the system sentiment analysis test in the city of Bogor during the pandemic with a value of 73.07%. In total, the sentiment of implementing the odd-even system to declare in Bogor City shows an expression of the joy of 45.45%.

This article discusses the struggles of urban social movements for a de-neoliberalisation of housing policies in Poulantzian terms as a “condensation of the relationship of forces”. Drawing on an empirical analysis of the “Berliner Mietenvolksentscheid” (Berlin rent referendum), which was partially successful in forcing the city government of Berlin to adopt a more progressive housing policy, the article argues that urban social movements have the capacity to challenge neoliberal housing regimes. However, the specific materiality of the state apparatus and its strategic selectivity both limit the scope of intervention for social movements aiming at empowerment and non-hierarchical decision-making.

After changing its city branding several times, Semarang now has a new city branding, namely "Semarang Variety of Culture." However, the city branding reaped contra from academics and cultural figures because Semarang was considered not sufficient yet in terms of representing its cultural diversity. Responding to this, the Semarang City Government and the Semarang City Public Works Department created a public service advertisement on CCTV socialization for flood control in the city of Semarang with a transgender figure as the ad star. This research was qualitative research designed with Seymour Chatman's Narrative Analysis. The research found a commodification and objectification of transgender people who imitated the feminine style of women in the advertisement. In other words, the public service announcement of Semarang CCTV socialization lowered the femininity, which is synonymous with women.The public service advertisement also violated the moral codes adopted by the majority of the Indonesian people.

Young people are important to cities, bringing skills and energy and contributing to economic activity. New technologies have led to the idea of a smart city as a framework for city management. Smart cities are developed from the top-down through government programmes, but also from the bottom-up by residents as technologies facilitate participation in developing new forms of city services. Young people are uniquely positioned to contribute to bottom-up smart city projects. Few diagnostic tools exist to guide city authorities on how to prioritise city service provision. A starting point is to understand how the youth value city services. This study surveys young people in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, and conducts an importance-performance analysis to identify which city services are well regarded and where the city should focus efforts and resources. The results show that Smart city initiatives that would most increase the satisfaction of youths in Braamfontein  include wireless connectivity, tools to track public transport  and  information  on city events. These  results  identify  city services that are valued by young people, highlighting services that young people could participate in providing. The importance-performance analysis can assist the city to direct effort and scarce resources effectively.

The rapid development of information and technology, the city of Bandung tourism has also increased. However, tourists who visit the city of Bandung have problems with a limited time when visiting Bandung tourist attractions. Traffic congestion, distance, and the number of tourist destinations are the problems for tourists travel. The optimal route selection is the solution for those problems. Congestion and distance data are processed using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. Route selection uses the Floyd-Warshall Algorithm. In this study, the selection of the best route gets the smallest weight with a value of 5.127 from the Algorithm process. Based on testing, from two to five tourist attractions get an average calculation time of 3 to 5 seconds. This application is expected to provide optimal solutions for tourists in the selection of tourist travel routes.
