TOEFL has been provided as a standardized test to measure the English proficiency of non-native speakers. However, one thing should be considered that TOEFL is still a big challenge for non-native English learners, especially for EFL learners. This is one of the factors, related to how proficient the vocabulary knowledge which students have. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate to what extent the relation between vocabulary knowledge, breadth and depth, and TOEFL test, especially reading subtest session. Participants of this study were undergraduate English students who never took a TOEFL preparation course. To help analyze data, IBM SPSS 24 version with Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to make it more precise. The result of Spearman rank correlation analysis revealed that there was a significant correlation among the variables. This result supports some previous studies focusing on the same topic.

Abstract Objective: Few studies have investigated the psychological impact throughout a major epidemic, such as COVID-19. This study aimed to evaluate the psychological state of individuals experienced quarantine and to provide evidence to reduce the impact of quarantine after COVID-19.Methods: A questionnaire-based survey conducted by using an internet site using 631 individuals who lived in China in the year 2020. Spearman rank correlation analysis was used for the data analysis. Results: Approximately 9.97% of the study participants reported that they did not feel good about his or her health condition. Approximately 50.16% of participants had experienced various levels of anxious and nervous feelings. Approximately 5.91% of participants reported anxious or nervous feelings almost every day. By using the spearman rank correlation analysis, we observed that anxious and nervous feelings appeared to be correlated with the frequency of receiving negative news, current health situation and time spent on receiving information related to COVID-19.Conclusion: A long-term quarantine is likely to have some level of impact on health conditions among relatively healthy individuals. The survey study may suggest that government and hospital workers should pay close attention to the psychological change experienced by quarantined individuals.

Background: Secreted frizzled-related protein 2 (sFRP2) plays an important role in metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs); However, its relevance with cardiometabolic diseases remains to be elucidated. We aimed to determine the serum levels of sFRP2 in patients at different stages of heart failure (HF) with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and assess the correlation between circulating sFRP2 levels and cardiometabolic risk factors. Methods: In this study, serum samples from 277 patients visiting Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University were collected. These patients were clinically diagnosed and categorized as five groups, including the control group, pre-clinical HF group, pre-clinical HF+T2DM group, HF group and HF+T2DM group. Serum sFRP2 levels were measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) tests and the clinical characteristics of each patient were recorded. Spearman rank correlation analysis and multiple stepwise linear regression analysis were conducted. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed to screen risk factors for HF in patients with CVDs.Results: Serum sFRP2 levels were significantly lower in the HF+T2DM group compared with the other four groups. Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that sFRP2 was negatively correlated with parameters including patients' age, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), cardiac troponin T (cTNT), N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), left atrial dimension (LAD) and left ventricular posterior wall (LVPW), and positively correlated with hemoglobin, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), albumin, total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). However, in multiple regression analysis, significant associations with ln(sFRP2) were observed only in FPG, hs-CRP and LAD. Higher serum sFRP2 was significantly linked to lower odds of HF in patients with CVDs.Conclusion: sFRP2 progressively decreased when glucose homeostasis and cardiac function deteriorated. sFRP2 acted as a risk factor for HF in patients with CVDs, especially in those with concomitant T2DM.

This study aimed to obtain a more comprehensive analysis of sulfate concentration of in Sungai Batang Arau, Padang. In addition to concentration profile of sulfate, correlation analysis between sulfate and environmental parameters (flowrate-Q, temperature-T, pH, DO and electrical Conductivity-EC) and spatial variation analysis of sulfate along the river were also performed. The analysis showed sulfate concentration tended to increase from upstream to downstream. Sulfate concentrations ranged from 25.9 to 115.1 mg / L and were below the quality standard (400 mg / L). Spearman Rank Correlation analysis showed a relative strong correlation of sulfate and significant with Q (r=0.581, p=0.000), T (r=0.448, p=0.008), and DHL (r=0.411, p=0.008) and no correlation with pH (r=-0.194, p=0.231) and DO (r=-0.279, p=0.081). Result of spatial analysis with a one-way ANOVA at 95% confidence level indicated that there was no a significant variability of sulfate concentration at the sampling stations (p> 0.05) except for S1 with S7 and S8. Moreover, cluster analysis grouped 8 sampling stations into two clusters, low and moderate polluted, based on similarities of sulfate characteristics.

th The principal is fully responsible for distributing education with the help of the teacher. In the process, teachers are required to be able to master four competencies, one of which is pedagogic competence. The competency aims to realize an educational learning for students. However, not all teachers master these competencies, so it is the responsibility of the principal to hold academic supervision activities. The activity is carried out by the authorities (headmaster) by giving guidance, in the form of class meetings / visits. That way, the teacher will get the provision of new learning and motivation to improve the pedagogical competence possessed. These activities can correct problems that occur during the learning process. The explanation above makes researchers interested in conducting research that aims to analyze the implementation of academic supervision in SDN Margorejo VI / 524 and SDN Baratajaya Surabaya. The two schools are located in Surabaya. In addition, the study was conducted with the aim of examining the influence of the implementation of academic supervision on teacher pedagogical competencies using quantitative descriptive research methods and spearman rank correlation with ordinal scale data. The researcher took the population in two schools with the number of respondents 102 then taken a sample of 81 respondents with a level of error of 0.05. The study was conducted by distributing questionnaires that have been tested valid and reliable. The results obtained were also obtained using SPSS 21 for Windows 2007. The results of the study were obtained using two data analysis techniques, namely descriptive analysis and Spearman rank correlation analysis. The results of the study indicate that the two schools actually carry out academic supervision activities to improve the teacher's pedagogical competence. So that the results obtained are 0.608 ** which means categorized as very good and good and classified as medium correlation with a significant correlation value of 0.000 < 0.05. So the hypothesis in this study is that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. e

Abstract Background Understaffing has been previously reported as a risk factor for central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI). No previous study addressed the question whether fluctuations in staffing have an impact on CLABSI incidence. We analyzed prospectively collected CLABSI surveillance data and data on employee turnover of health care workers (HCW) to address this research question. Methods In January 2016, a semiautomatic surveillance system for CLABSI was implemented at the University Hospital Zurich, a 940 bed tertiary care hospital in Switzerland. Monthly incidence rates (CLABSI/1000 catheter days) were calculated and correlations with human resources management-derived data on employee turnover of HCWs (defined as number of leaving HCWs per month divided by the number of employed HCWs) investigated. Results Over a period of 24 months, we detected on the hospital level a positive correlation of CLABSI incidence rates and turnover of nursing personnel (Spearman rank correlation, r = 0.467, P = 0.022). In more detailed analyses on the professional training of nursing personnel, a correlation of CLABSI incidence rates and licensed practical nurses (Spearman rank correlation, r = 0.26, P = 0.038) or registered nurses (r = 0.471, P = 0.021) was found. Physician turnover did not correlate with CLABSI incidence (Spearman rank correlation, r =  −0.058, P = 0.787). Conclusions Prospectively determined CLABSI incidence correlated positively with the degree of turnover of nurses overall and nurses with advanced training, but not with the turnover of physicians. Efforts to maintain continuity in nursing staff might be helpful for sustained reduction in CLABSI rates.
