Background: Secreted frizzled-related protein 2 (sFRP2) plays an important role in metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs); However, its relevance with cardiometabolic diseases remains to be elucidated. We aimed to determine the serum levels of sFRP2 in patients at different stages of heart failure (HF) with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and assess the correlation between circulating sFRP2 levels and cardiometabolic risk factors. Methods: In this study, serum samples from 277 patients visiting Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University were collected. These patients were clinically diagnosed and categorized as five groups, including the control group, pre-clinical HF group, pre-clinical HF+T2DM group, HF group and HF+T2DM group. Serum sFRP2 levels were measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) tests and the clinical characteristics of each patient were recorded. Spearman rank correlation analysis and multiple stepwise linear regression analysis were conducted. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed to screen risk factors for HF in patients with CVDs.Results: Serum sFRP2 levels were significantly lower in the HF+T2DM group compared with the other four groups. Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that sFRP2 was negatively correlated with parameters including patients' age, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), cardiac troponin T (cTNT), N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), left atrial dimension (LAD) and left ventricular posterior wall (LVPW), and positively correlated with hemoglobin, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), albumin, total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). However, in multiple regression analysis, significant associations with ln(sFRP2) were observed only in FPG, hs-CRP and LAD. Higher serum sFRP2 was significantly linked to lower odds of HF in patients with CVDs.Conclusion: sFRP2 progressively decreased when glucose homeostasis and cardiac function deteriorated. sFRP2 acted as a risk factor for HF in patients with CVDs, especially in those with concomitant T2DM.

Abstract BackgroundAnalysing the accuracy of 3D-TEE in preoperative evaluation of TAVR compared with CT when the error led by inconsistent software and method has been eliminated and the representativeness of sample has been improved, and exploring the influence of aortic root calcification on the accuracy of 3D-TEE in aortic annulus evaluations.MethodsPart I: 45 of 233 patients who underwent TAVR in the department of cardiovascular surgery in Xijing hospital from January 2016 to August 2019 were retrospectively studied. Mimics and multiplanar reconstruction method were used for evaluation based on 3D-TEE and CT. Annulus diameter - area derived (Da), annulus diameter - perimeter derived (Dp), annulus mean diameter, the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) diameter-Dp, the sinus tube junction (STJ) diameter-Dp and aortic sinus diameter were compared and analyzed. Part ii: 31 of 233 patients whose 3D-TEE and CT data were well preserved and in the required format were included. HU450 and HU850 were used as indicators to measure the severity of calcification, and spearman rank correlation and ROC curve was used to analyze the correlation between aortic root calcification and accuracy of 3D-TEE in aortic annulus measurement.ResultsThe measurement results based on 3D-TEE were significantly lower than those of CT (p<0.05), except for the STJ diameter-Dp in diastole (p=0.11). The correlation coefficient of the two groups was 0.699 ~ 0.954 (p < 0.01), which also indicated a significant correlation between the two groups.Bland-Altman plot showed that the ordinate values were mostly within the 95% consistency limit, the consistency of the two groups was good. By establishing the linear regression equation, the two groups can be inferred from each other. Spearman rank correlation analysis and ROC curve analysis showing that the influence of aortic calcification on the accuracy of 3D-TEE annulus evaluation was limited.ConclusionsWhlie evaluation based on 3D-TEE underestimated the results, we can deduce CT results from 3D-TEE as they obtain considerable correlation and consistency. Calcification in the aortic sinus did not affect the accuracy of 3D-TEE annulus evaluation.Trial registrationName: Surgery and Transcatheter Intervention for Structural Heart DiseasesNumber: NCT02917980URL : https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=NCT02917980

TOEFL has been provided as a standardized test to measure the English proficiency of non-native speakers. However, one thing should be considered that TOEFL is still a big challenge for non-native English learners, especially for EFL learners. This is one of the factors, related to how proficient the vocabulary knowledge which students have. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate to what extent the relation between vocabulary knowledge, breadth and depth, and TOEFL test, especially reading subtest session. Participants of this study were undergraduate English students who never took a TOEFL preparation course. To help analyze data, IBM SPSS 24 version with Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to make it more precise. The result of Spearman rank correlation analysis revealed that there was a significant correlation among the variables. This result supports some previous studies focusing on the same topic.

th The principal is fully responsible for distributing education with the help of the teacher. In the process, teachers are required to be able to master four competencies, one of which is pedagogic competence. The competency aims to realize an educational learning for students. However, not all teachers master these competencies, so it is the responsibility of the principal to hold academic supervision activities. The activity is carried out by the authorities (headmaster) by giving guidance, in the form of class meetings / visits. That way, the teacher will get the provision of new learning and motivation to improve the pedagogical competence possessed. These activities can correct problems that occur during the learning process. The explanation above makes researchers interested in conducting research that aims to analyze the implementation of academic supervision in SDN Margorejo VI / 524 and SDN Baratajaya Surabaya. The two schools are located in Surabaya. In addition, the study was conducted with the aim of examining the influence of the implementation of academic supervision on teacher pedagogical competencies using quantitative descriptive research methods and spearman rank correlation with ordinal scale data. The researcher took the population in two schools with the number of respondents 102 then taken a sample of 81 respondents with a level of error of 0.05. The study was conducted by distributing questionnaires that have been tested valid and reliable. The results obtained were also obtained using SPSS 21 for Windows 2007. The results of the study were obtained using two data analysis techniques, namely descriptive analysis and Spearman rank correlation analysis. The results of the study indicate that the two schools actually carry out academic supervision activities to improve the teacher's pedagogical competence. So that the results obtained are 0.608 ** which means categorized as very good and good and classified as medium correlation with a significant correlation value of 0.000 < 0.05. So the hypothesis in this study is that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. e

River transportation is essential in Sarawak as the roads are found difficult to be constructed due to difficult terrains, high construction cost for bridges and long construction period. Due to inaccessibility via road, river transportation is the only mean of transportation to rural area and the demand is increasing. On the other hand, the demands are also directly proportional to the occurrence of hazards or risks. Risk identification is a key step in risk management. This paper uses Sibu Express Boat Terminal as a background study and 5 points Likert score is used to rate likelihood and consequences for 36 risk factors. Risk ranking, Spearman rank correlation and sensitivity analysis were then applied for statistical data analyses. From the study, financial related risks ranked the highest and the policy and political risks ranked the lowest. Besides, the Spearman rank correlation method shows there is a relationship between likelihood and risk level. Likewise, there is a relationship between consequences and risk level as well. Results suggested that further research is required by increasing numbers of risk factors, risk groups as well as respondents.
