This study examined the experiences of parents of persons with intellectual disabilities (ID) as they sought inclusive sport participation for their children. To understand their experiences, in-depth interviews were conducted with 49 parents. Qualitative data analysis was conducted to identify common themes from the responses. The analysis showed that most parents sought inclusive sport involvement for their children but they soon gave up their effort due to rejection by staff and other participants. Underlying these attitudinal problems were a lack of quality contact between people with and without ID and a lack of understanding of people with ID. Parents’ lack of sense of entitlement, low sport values, and lack of participation information and opportunities also contributed to their giving up of inclusive sport. Factors leading to successful inclusion included staff inclusion attitudes and abilities and the social skills of individuals with ID.

In this paper we present a model of qualitative data analysis developed through an example from an empirical study that focused on analyzing the causes of why people obey or disobey traffic rules. Specifically, we focus on the study of the arguments that people use to justify their behaviors regarding such rules. The study was developed from in-depth interviews with men and women between the ages of 18 and60, who drive cars or motorcycles. The model is organized into three stages that are applied to the empirical study. In the first stage we form the research question and objectives. In the second stage argumentative statements are studied for later access to the systems of beliefs that support those statements and to the mental models which form the basis of the systems of beliefs. Finally, we build typologies of individuals based on how arguments, systems of beliefs, and mental models are combined in such individuals.

The complexity of social problems addressed by the social work profession makes mixed methods research an essential tool. This literature review examined common quantitative and qualitative techniques used by social work researchers and what mixed methods research may add to social work research. Surveys and in-depth interviews were the most common quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, respectively. The t-test was the most frequently used quantitative data analysis method. Although thematic analysis was the most common qualitative data analysis method, 12% of the qualitative data analysis techniques were not specified. Mixed methods research adds three important elements to social work research: voices of participants, comprehensive analyses of phenomena, and enhanced validity of findings. For these reasons, the teaching and use of mixed methods research remain integral to social work.

Thematic analysis has widely been used in qualitative data analysis for theory development. This paper illustrates step-by-step procedure of qualitative data analysis through thematic analysis. Thematic analysis was performed on ten in-depth interviews which were transcribed for analysis. Coding in qualitative research is a systematic process through which the collected data were condensed into smaller analyzable units, called as codes, which were further categorized and developed into themes. Coding process eventually helped researchers to build a general theoretical concept about the qualitative evidence. Major themes that emerged in this analysis include (i) the management issues and (ii) employees’ apprehensions. Findings were interpreted and their implications were discussed in detail in the section of conclusion.

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the meaning of the literacy movement in Buru district, where the movement's stated objective is to increase human resources. The issue is focused on the implementation process, which has been underway for three years but has yet to demonstrate the program's significance and impact on the community's real conditions. The approach taken in this study is qualitative, and the number of informants interviewed will be 15. These informants will be chosen purposefully, with the understanding that respondents will be considered related parties in order to accomplish the research objectives. The research was conducted in Namlea village, Buru district, with informants that included village officials, BPD members, representatives of community leaders, traditional leaders, and religious leaders, as well as community representatives with competencies relevant to the research objectives. This study collects data about the literacy movement's implementation through observation and in-depth interviews. In this research, I employ qualitative data analysis in accordance with Miles, Huberman, and Spradley's concepts. This study concludes that the program-based literacy movement has not yet fully grasped the meaning; people's awareness of literacy has focused on participation levels but not on activities that promote relaxation, protect the brain, prevent disease, and prolong life.

The research aims to reveal how the power discourse works through Siraman and Ngalungsur Geni ceremonies. The power discourse can be traced through the relationship between traditional leaders (kuncen and ancestors) and the people of Dangiang Village. The study uses descriptive explanatory methods and interpretative qualitative data analysis techniques. The researcher first raises the phenomenon to be interpreted with Foucault's theory of positive and non-repressive constructed power. The data used are the results of in-depth interviews with informants, observations during the ceremonies, photos, and literature study. The research reveals that power during Siraman and Ngalungsur Geni ceremonies has been constructed dynamically, positively, and unrepressively. The power centered on traditional leader ‘kuncen’ is even distributed to all citizens participating in the ceremonies. The distribution of power is reflected when all ceremony participants can feel both the blessings of the prayers offered by the ‘kuncen’ and the water used for washing the heirlooms belonging to the ancestors of Dangiang Village.
