The analysis of the quality indexes of sugarcane juice plays a vital role in the process of refining sugarcane, breeding, cultivation, and production management. The paper analyzes the dynamic laws of five quality indexes (i.e., brix, purity, polarization, sucrose content, and reducing sugar) combined with graphs over time along the course of crushing season (December–March) in Guangxi province of China. During this time, the sugarcane is in the mature stage and hypermature stage. At the beginning of December to early January, during which sugarcane is in the later stage of maturity, the nutrients are accumulating, causing brix, purity, polarization, and sucrose content increase. At the beginning of January to mid-February, due to low temperature and insufficient light, it is not conducive to accumulation of nutrients. However, there is the so-called “sugar back” phenomenon and reducing sugar rises gradually in March, leading to deterioration of the quality of sugarcane juice. The results show that timely harvest of sugarcane is beneficial for sugar making. The regression analysis results show that some of quality indexes have strong correlation between them and the regression models are extremely significant, indicating that the prediction results are ideal.

Jelly candy is a soft textured candy processed with hydrocolloid components such as gum, pectin, agar, starch, carrageenan, gelatin. These are used to modify the chewy texture. This study aimed was to determine the effect of the combination of chicken feet gelatin and agar on the quality of jelly candy. Processing of chicken feet gelatin jelly candy based on Caeccar et.al (2018) method by modification. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor, five levels and three replications. The factors studied were the ratio of chicken feet gelatin and agar 80:20; 60:40; 40:60; 20:80; 0:100. Product quality characteristics observed in this study were water content, ash content, reducing sugar content, sucrose content, and organoleptic quality. The results showed that the combination of chicken feet gelatine and agar were significantly affected water, ash, reducing sucrose content. Jelly candy with a treatment combination of 80% chicken feet gelatine and 20% agar was the best treatment. The results of the analysis of the candy were water content of 11.02± 0.04%, ash content of 0.89± 0.00%, reducing sugar content of 10.83± 0.01%, sucrose content of 50.68± 0.28%. The organoleptic test results showed that chicken feet gelatine improved the texture and taste of jelly candy.

Annually, approximately 90% of the sugarcane planted in South Africa is burnt prior to harvest. The burning of sugarcane is a pre-harvesting technique that is well known to the sugar industry and one that has proven to be efficient. Due to the numerous associated disadvantages that exist, such as the public nuisance of soot and smoke, soil damage and its contributions to air pollution, it is foreseen that government legislation will become more stringent, prohibiting the burning of sugarcane, thereby forcing the industry to consider other alternatives. Processing green sugarcane with brown leaf is one of the sustainable alternatives to be considered which would introduce a beneficial option for both the sugar industry and the environment. For this alternative to be recommended as a viable option, an investigation was required to determine the effects of processing green sugarcane with brown leaf in a sugar factory specifically in alignment with their current juice extraction systems (diffusers). Conducting such experiments on a commercial diffuser presented several challenges. A novel approach was undertaken to develop a pilot juice extraction technique to access and quantify the effects of processing green sugarcane with varying quantities of brown leaf in a sugarcane diffuser on a more controlled scale. Efforts were made to simulate conditions in a diffuser and thereby produce a juice that would closely represent the quality of juice extracted from a sugarcane diffuser. A pilot juice extractor technique was designed, fabricated and its performance verified before determining suitable operating conditions for further experimental work. Experimental juice extraction systems and the applicability of the system to the proposed work was evaluated. The outcome of an extensive review of the literature revealed that the pilot juice extractor design had to be based on an upward forced-flow, submerged column with a steam jacket and electrical heating option. The pilot extractor showed good ability in differentiating between juices extracted from burnt and green sugarcane with and without brown leaf. The extracted juice quality was assessed and compared on the key analytes present in the extracted juice such as gravity purity (sucrose/brix), colour, conductivity ash, reducing sugars (fructose and glucose) and non-sucrose content. An experimental design allowed for key operating conditions of time (30, 45 and 60 minutes) and temperature (75 °C, 0 °C and 85 °C) to be tested. Suitable operating conditions for the pilot juice extractor, which emanated from the experiments, included a temperature of 80 °C and a retention time of 30 minutes. In addition, the juice concentrations in the pilot extractor were found to be different (higher or lower) to the concentrations of analytes present in the juice extracted from two established methods, namely cold digestion and press methods, for most juice quality parameters. The pilot juice extractor performance was subsequently validated against a South African commercial diffuser for 16 different consignments of sugarcane of different varieties and included both green and burnt sugarcane. The diffuser draft juice was compared to the juice obtained from the pilot extractor, cold digestion and press processes. Due to a lack of green sugarcane samples tested at the factory, the correlations between draft juice and the extractor were derived for burnt sugarcane only. The pilot extractor juice quality for burnt sugarcane compared more favourably, in terms of the concentrations of the analytes, with the draft juice quality rather than the quality of the juice extracted from the cold digestion and pressing methods. The investigation of the effects of varying quantities of brown leaf on the quality of juice extracted and the effect on the sugarcane density and percolation rate was carried out using the pilot juice extractor. The tests considered included four different sugarcane varieties (N12, N16, N47 and N39) to obtain a good representation of the different types of sugarcane that is processed in sugar factories. Results showed that an increase in brown leaf content adds to colour, conductivity ash and non-sucrose content and reduces purity, sugarcane density and percolation rates across all tested varieties. The pilot juice extractor presents a suitable method that can be utilised in future studies to assess factory specific combinations of sugarcane varieties, type (burnt or green) and the effects of adding brown leaf in a diffuser, in an effort to understand any potential factory processing impacts. This will aid factories in preparation for how best to handle the situation should they be required to process green harvested sugarcane with brown leaf in the near future.

The analysis of literature sources shows that the type and material from which the packaging is made has an important place in the system of factors which influence on the storage of feed products and also prevents reducing the quality of raw materials and finished products. Therefore, the purpose of our research is the technological justification of changing the quality indexes of premix samples with salts of trace elements of different chemical nature in the process of storage. For the solution of the tasks, common zootechnical and statistical methods of the research were used. The use of premixes in feeding pigs is based on the fact that they should be used taking into account the biogeochemical properties of the region for which they are calculated. Foods depending on regional properties have a special biochemical composition and excess or lack of individual substances should be offset by the composition of premix. Ignoring this provision necessarily leads to the inappropriate use of BAR, the misbalance of the diet in relation to the physiological needs and inefficiency of the industry. In turn, it requires the purchase and conservation of products for the period of use. Various chemical structures and structures of BAR during the storage process react differently and change qualitative indexes, which leads to a decrease in the productive activity of active substances. It was determined that the humidity of premixes varied within the limits of 12.0-13.0 %, which exceeded the normative, but was not critical, the highest acidity had premix with sulfuric acid salts (6.9 units), the least - premix with lysates (5.7 unit). According to the results of the study, positive qualitative responses were found for the presence of vitamins A, D and B2, macro- and micronutrients: potassium, magnesium, copper, zinc, cobalt, iodine. The above facts of changes in the properties of premixes in the process of storage must be taken into account when providing technological bases for feeding pigs in order to obtain high gains and the quality of manufactured products. Anticancer agents play a vital role in the cure of patients suffering from malignancy. Though, the chemotherapeutic agents are associated with various adverse effects which produce significant toxic symptoms in the patients. But this therapy affects both the malignant and normal cells and leads to constricted therapeutic index of antimalignant drugs which adversely impacts the quality of patients’ life. Due to these adversities, sufficient dose of drug is not delivered to patients leading to delay in treatment or improper treatment. Chemoprotective agents have been developed either to minimize or to mitigate the toxicity allied with chemotherapeutic agents. Without any concession in the therapeutic efficacy of anticancer drugs, they provide organ specific guard to normal tissues.

Background: Quality control and the standardization of herbal medicines involve steps like standard source and quality of raw materials, good manufacturing practices and adequate analytical screening. These practices play a vital role in guaranting the quality and stability of herbal preparations. Chandrashakaladi Vataka is an Ayurvedic herbal formulation mentioned to be beneficial in Kushtha. Till date no published data is available on its analytical profile. Aim: To develop the Pharmacognostical and Phyto-chemical profile of Chandrashakaladi Vataka. Material and Methods: Chandrashakaladi Vataka was prepared as per classical method and analytical findings were recorded. Samples were subjected to organoleptic analysis, physico-chemical analysis and HPTLC examination by optimizing the solvent systems. Results and Conclusions: Pharmacognostical profile of Chandrashakaladi Vataka was established. Loss on drying, Ash value, Acid insoluble extract, Methanol soluble extract, Chandrashakaladi Vataka was found within prescribed limits. HPTLC profile of Chandrashakaladi Vataka revealed 12 spots at 254 nm and 13 spots at 366 nm.

AbstractHealthcare professionals play a vital role in identifying and supporting autistic people. This study systematically reviewed empirical research examining healthcare professionals’ knowledge, self-efficacy and attitudes towards working with autistic people. Thirty-five studies were included. The included studies sampled a range of countries and professional backgrounds. A modified quality assessment tool found the quality of the included studies was moderately good. Narrative synthesis indicated that healthcare professionals report only moderate levels of autism knowledge and self-efficacy, and often lack training. Variation within and between countries and professional background was not explained by demographic factors. The reviewed evidence suggests health professionals’ limited knowledge and self-efficacy in working with autistic people is a challenge to the provision of healthcare for autistic individuals.

Competent adult learning facilitators play a vital role in improving the quality of adult learning programmes. This article thus explores common and core competences of adult learning facilitators from the perspective of key stakeholders, such as facilitators, adult learners and administrators. By synthesising previous international studies, we developed a survey and collected data in Mongolia ( n = 227). We identified adult learning facilitators’ common and core competences focusing on their teaching role. As found, areas of adult learners’ needs assessment, communication and motivation should be integrated in professional development programmes in order to aim for a better completion rate and higher participation of target audiences in adult learning programmes.

Experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of concentration and duration of chlorine dioxide gas treatment on Surface sterilization of grape at 25°C. The results showed that the values of inactivate bacterial log reduction ofBotrytis cinerea,Penicilliumandalternariaincreased with the increasing of ClO2gas concentrations and treatment time. When the concentrations and treatment time was about 10 mg/m3and 30 minutes, respectively, more than 4 log reduction was obtained for the three spoilage bacteria on grape surface. Furthermore, the effect of chlorine dioxide gas treatment on quality of grape was investigated. It was found that the contents of vitamin C (Vc) and reducing sugar (RS) in grape also increased compared with grape without ClO2gas treatment.

Sleep plays a vital role in an individual’s mental, emotional, and physiological well-being. Not only does sleep deficiency lead to neurological and psychological disorders, but also the literature has explored the adverse effects of sleep deficiency on the cardiovascular system. Decreased quantity and quality of sleep have been linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. We explore the literature correlating primary sleep deficiency and deprivation as a cause for cardiovascular disease and cite endothelial dysfunction as a common underlying mechanism.
