Introduction/Objective. Estimating the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCD), multimorbidities, and their association with self-rated health as well as satisfaction with healthcare. Methods. This cross-sectional study was conducted among ethnic Serb communities at Kosovo and Metohija during 2015?2016. Data of sociodemographic and lifestyle characteristics, self-rated health status and satisfaction with healthcare was obtained through a survey which included 1 067 adults, 535 of whom reported presence of non-communicable disease. Multinomial regression was performed to analysis factors associated with self-rated health and self-rated satisfaction with the healthcare. Results. Presence of one NCD was reported by 50.1% respondents, whereas 23.1% of the respondents reported multimorbidity. While self-reported NCD presence was negatively associated with self-rated health (p: 0.001-0.016), no association between NCDs and satisfaction with healthcare was observed (p: 0.178-0.974). Being single (p: 0.011-0.017), lower educational level (p: 0.031-0.047), regular breakfast (p = 0.032), frequent vegetable intake (p: 0.009-0.029), no alcohol use (p = 0.010), shorter waiting time (p: 0.001-0.004) and sufficient finance for dental care (p = 0.021) were factors statistically significantly correlated with greater satisfaction with the healthcare. Conclusion. Presence of non-communicable diseases was negatively associated with self-rated health status, while shorter waiting time and adequate finances were associated with higher level of satisfaction with the healthcare. The results of our study could be of the importance for policy makers in creating the more effective healthcare service in unstable political and security situations.


Development of health and longevity of people is equally important as the economic and social development of the people in a country. Prosperity and productivity of a nation depend upon the quality of population which in turn is determined by the education and health status of the people. Technological advancement and scientific development indicate the development of education, but the health condition of the people is not up to the mark as we compare with the scientific advancement. It is a fact that most of the people are suffering from non-communicable diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, kidney, lung and heart diseases. Most of the deaths are also take place due to non-communicable diseases. Therefore, the authors made an attempt to examine the health status of kallakinaru tribals at kodaikanal hills, Tamilnadu. It is vivid that most of the people in the village are suffering from many human ailments due to illiteracy and inadequate income.

Abstract This narrative review was conducted to synthesize and summarize available up-to-date evidence on current health status, including both non-communicable diseases and infectious diseases, of migrants and refugees from the former Soviet Union countries in the Russian Federation. Epidemiological and sociological studies with one or more determinants of the health, as well as relevant qualitative studies characterizing risk factors, well-being indicators, and lifestyles of migrants and refugees from the former Soviet Union countries in Russia published from 2004 to 2019 in Russian and English languages were included in the review. Despite significant limitations of the available research literature in the field, some patterns in migrants’ health in Russia and issues that need to be addressed were identified. In particular, the syndemic epidemics of communicable and non-communicable diseases, additively increasing negative health consequences, including cardiovascular diseases and chronic digestive system diseases, high rates of sexually transmitted infections and HIV, respiratory diseases and a growing percentage of new tuberculosis cases among migrants from the former Soviet Union countries are all of great concern. Possibly, the burden of these co-occurring morbidities is linked to commonly reported issues among this population group, such as poor nutrition and living conditions, high prevalence of unskilled manual labour, non-compliance with sanitary norms, lack of basic vaccinations, lack of basic knowledge about safe sexual practices and risky sexual behaviour, low healthcare seeking behaviour and limited access to health care. Importantly, these findings may urge the government to increase efforts and promote international collaboration in combating the threat of infectious diseases. Additionally, it was found that migrants had higher levels of anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, and those who stayed in the receiving country 5 years or more had a higher level of somatic pathology than those whose stay was less than 5 years. In order to ensure an adequate health system response and fulfil the main Universal Health Coverage principle of “leaving no one behind”, a robust monitoring system of the health status of refugees and migrants and an integrated legal framework for the standardized and more inclusive routine care for this population in Russia is urgently needed.

The article highlights the issues on the improvement of diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases by applying the approaches of systemic medicine and the latest technologies. The aim of the study is to assess the clinical and diagnostic capabilities of a short recording of heart rate variability in displaying systemic informational energy processes of the human body. There has been a necessity to increase the effectiveness of measures for the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases in Ukraine through the early diagnosis and the introduction of the latest science-based technologies into medical practice and the development of a scientific concept of magnetoelectrochemical metabolism. An open-label, non-randomized controlled trial was performed. The study of the wave characteristics of the heart rate in functionally healthy respondents of different levels of physical fitness was one of its components. Main group 1 (n=171) and control group 2 (patients with non-communicable diseases and concomitant diseases, n=76) were examined by the method of short recording of heart rate variability using spectral analysis of wave parameters of the heart rate and variation heart rate monitoring. Clinically significant objective signs of changes in the functional state of the patients in group 2 in comparison with the individuals having good functional health status were identified. The significant difference between the indicators of the functional state in the subgroups of the individuals with good functional health has proven the significant clinical sensitivity of the method and the potentials of its applying as an objective tool for structured clinical examination of the health status, as well as for assessment of the therapeutic efficacy in the dynamics of managing patients with non-communicable diseases and determining their prognosis. The method of short recording of heart rate variability can be included into the procedure of objective structured clinical examination of patients with non-communicable diseases.

The earliest correction of behavioral risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases will reduce the rates of premature mortality of the population. Currently, the relationship between the altered spectrum of intestinal microflora in various indicators of suboptimal health status and body mass index is not sufficiently studied. When they are in a state of suboptimal health status, patients consider themselves healthy and do not go to the doctor for a long time, which makes it difficult to implement early preventive measures in this group of patients. Goal. To determine the qualitative and quantitative composition of the intestinal microflora before and 1 month after taking a metaprebiotic complex containing dietary fiber (inulin) and oligosaccharides (oligofructose) in outpatient patients who consider themselves healthy, have behavioral risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases or chronic non-communicable diseases in remission, and/or do not consult a doctor within the last 3 months. Materials and methods. Outpatient patients were examined (114 people: 36 men, 78 women aged 18 to 72 years). A survey was conducted, including a detailed active collection of complaints (including using the international SHSQ-25 questionnaire) and anamnesis, as well as a thorough physical examination with an anthropometric study. Using the MALDI-ToF mass spectrometry method, the degree of microbiotic disorders, the structure of the intestinal microflora were determined with the identification of microorganisms isolated from feces before and after taking the course of the metaprebiotic complex with various indicators of suboptimal status and body mass index. Results. New data were obtained on the intestinal biocenosis of patients who consider themselves healthy at different levels of suboptimal status. When using a metaprebiotic complex containing inulin and oligofructose, an improvement in the composition of the intestinal microflora was found due to a decrease in the frequency of release of conditionally pathogenic enterobacteria and other gram-negative microorganisms (median degree of contamination: from 0.45 (0.3-0.98) to 0.3(0.21-0.7) at low suboptimal status and from 0.5(0.7-1.7) to 0.31 (0.2-1.3) at high) and increase the frequency of enterococcal excretion (median degree of contamination: from 5,58 (4,16-7,0) tо 6,3 (4,8-7,8) at low suboptimal status and from от 4,5 (2,8-6,3) tо 5,1 (3,8-6,4) at high). Conclusion. The importance of studying the microbiotic complex of the intestine in increasing the indicators of suboptimal health status and body mass index in patients who consider themselves healthy is proved, which will allow for the earliest detection and rational individual prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases.

Non-communicable diseases are quite serious public health problems and require more comprehensive and multidisciplinary care. The high mortality rate caused by heart disease, stroke, gout and diabetes mellitus is caused by unhealthy eating patterns, unhealthy habits, lack of physical activity and stress. Indonesia is the 4th country with people with diabetes mellitus after China, India and the USA. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a cause of increased risk of stroke, heart and kidney. The number of Majelis Taklim assemblies and Pengajian can be used maximally by health workers to socialize health programs in improving community health status. Perwiritan An-Nur, Marindal Village 1 Kec. Patumbak Kab. Deli Serdang is thought to have a high risk of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, stroke, gout and diabetes mellitus. Observation of the habits of the community has an unhealthy lifestyle. This community service carried out 2 activities namely promotion and prevention with 30 samples. Educational activities are education about hypertension, stroke, gout and diabetes mellitus as well as activities. Preventive activities include checking cholesterol, uric acid and blood sugar levels. From the results of the implementation of community service found the majority of respondents aged> 50 years as many as 22 people (27%), the majority of low levels of education 17 people (57%), the majority do not work 27 people (90%), the majority of Javanese 20 people (67% ), the majority of married women 28 people (93%) and the majority with a history of passive smoking as many as 20 people (67%), the majority of normal blood pressure as many as 21 people (70%), the majority of normal cholesterol levels as many as 27 people 27 (90%) , the majority of normal uric acid levels were 26 people (87%), the majority of normal blood sugar levels were 28 people (93%). To improve health status and reduce the incidence of non-communicable diseases by conducting counseling and health checks.

AbstractThe health status of healthy decontamination workers employed after the Fukushima nuclear disaster remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of non-communicable diseases among such workers. In this observational study, questionnaires on lifestyle and social factors were administered as part of a health promotion program for decontamination workers in 2016 in Minamisoma City, Fukushima. The questionnaires and health check-up results were compared with those of the 2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) in Japan. Overall, 123 male decontamination workers were enrolled; 93 (75.6%) were drinkers, and 84 (68.3%) were current smokers. The age-adjusted prevalence (95% confidence interval) of hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and obesity were 27.2% (20.1–34.4%), 30.4% (22.6–38.2%), 11.3% (5.5–17.1%), and 49.0% (39.0–58.9%), respectively. The age-adjusted prevalence in the NHANES were 32.8% (31.1–34.5%), 16.1% (14.5–17.6%), 7.0% (6.2–7.7%), and 31.2% (29.9–32.5%), respectively. The prevalence of obesity, dyslipidemia, binge drinking, and smoking were higher in healthy male decontamination workers than in the general population. Decontamination workers in disaster-struck areas may have higher risks of developing non-communicable diseases, possibly due to their original health status. Continuous monitoring of their health status and proper interventions are warranted.

The potential use entropy modeling of multivariate stochastic systems in medicine has been shown on a concrete example. Assessment of the health status of rural male population, by the criteria of "healthy", "healthy", "sick" was made. Defined levels of entropy parameters which characterize the main risk factors of chronic non-communicable diseases according to the health groups. The greatest contribution of an individual parameter in the entropy of the population was selected in each group The degree of dependence of this parameter from the others was identified. It is established that the deterioration in health status leads to increased entropy in the population. This growth is caused by increase of entropy randomness.

IntroductionNon-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide, including in Korea; thus, customised techniques for chronic disease management for the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of NCDs are crucial. The Korean Medicine Daejeon Citizen Cohort (KDCC) study has been tasked with developing precise health promotion model for preventing and managing chronic diseases that considers individual traits, lifestyle factors and clinical data based on traditional Korean medicine.Methods and analysisThe KDCC study is a prospective cohort study of the community-based population in Korea. This study will sample 2000 adults aged 30–55 years in Daejeon area using stratified cluster sampling. The baseline survey began in 2017 and was completed in 2019, and follow-up surveys will be conducted three times every 2 years until 2025. In follow-ups, factors related to cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome and relevant diseases, as well as respondents’ health status information, will be examined via questionnaire surveys and health examinations.DiscussionThe KDCC study will investigate the effects of an interaction of Korean medicine type with genome based, lifestyle and various clinical information on chronic diseases and individuals’ health status using longitudinal epidemiological data. These findings are expected to inform the development of tailored health promotion programmes based on precision Korean medicine.Trial registration numberKCT0004297.
