Objectives: The main objective is to critically examine the current English textbook for class ten used by all the government as well as English-medium private schools across Nepal. Methodology: A descriptive qualitative research design was adopted to evaluate the quality of the book on mainly two criteria: what to teach and how to teach, At the same time, many other things have been taken into consideration, for example, what is the quality of the input in the book from the viewpoints of four elements of language and four macro skills as well as their constituent micro skills, what is the learning outcome of the book, and so on. Result: There seems to be serious loopholes in the organization of the presentation and practice materials of the book from both viewpoints: knowledge transmission and communicative ability development. Conclusion: The book needs to be adapted and rewritten.

The purpose of this study was to describe nurses’ experiences of promoting healthy aging in municipalities. A descriptive qualitative research design based on semi-structured interviews with 13 nurses was employed. The nurses described the importance of giving older adults the possibility to live as individuals, but also that the organization matters as too does the nurses’ own desire to work professionally and with passion. Nurses in the municipality noticed that in today’s world, there is a changing perspective of older adults. They more often want to continue their previous life and care greatly about quality of life and because of this, they also expect more service from their health care. Our study suggests that nurses should be supported to specialize in elderly care and measures should be taken to reduce the gap between vision and reality when it comes to team work.

The aim of this paper is to synthesize the themes and topics addressed language teachers’ new literacies in the published articles between 2010–2020 to understand research and approaches to the new literacies of language teachers. To this end, the researchers applied an integrative review of 29 papers selected from a body of 503 published papers in nine databases. The review showed that most papers related to new literacies in professional development focused on the term digital literacy. Moreover, most of the published papers are from Asia and Europe and were conducted on in-service teachers. A great majority of published papers relied on qualitative research design, and web 2.0 technologies are the dominant technologies in the reviewed studies. My findings potentially pave the way for future researchers to recognize and classify new possible areas of research as regards the use of new literacies as a necessity for language pedagogy.

Professional development is an ongoing process in which teachers review their teaching practices and learn how to respond to their students’ needs. To make the professional development process more effective, we need to define the identity of a teacher correctly and clarify the perspective about teachers’ professional development. The purpose of this study is to investigate teachers’ metaphoric perceptions about professional development. The study was carried out through qualitative research design. The data was collected via an electronic form. The participants were 526 teachers that the researcher contacted through e-mail or social media sites. The data was analyzed through content analysis. The findings of the study indicated that the participants often associated the concept of professional development with an object. In addition, they regarded professional development as a growing and developing entity as well as a demanding occupation that involved change. In this respect, it is important that the teachers are provided with the required resources, budget and time to continue their professional development. Moreover, it is crucial that professional development activities are not limited to seminars and teachers are given the initiative to conduct research about their teaching process.
