Scheffe test has been carried out in order to determine which groups have the significant difference among them. Consequently; It is estimated that married participants in comparison with singles, the ones who do exercises regularly in comparison with those who do not do, the ones who do exercises 5 days or more in a week in comparison with the ones who does less frequently, the ones who are so healthy in general in comparison with the ones who are not, the individuals who do physical activities intensively in comparison with the ones who do not do have a high quality of life.In this sense, individuals over 50 who have played football befor and after 50 and sedentary indiviudals differentiate in terms of quality of life and somehow it is concluded that individuals who do physical activities have a high quality of life in comparison with the other individuals. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.

Abstract Objectives This study was conducted to evaluate the association of dietary diversity score with health-related quality of life and osteosarcopenic obesity in female aged 50 or older using data from the 2008∼2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Methods In this cross-sectional study, a total of 4276 subjects (50∼64y: n = 2279, ≥65y: n = 1997) were classified according to dietary diversity score (DDS) (≥3 DDS, <3 DDS) using 24 h dietary recalls method. Body composition was evaluated using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and health-related quality of life was assessed using EQ-5D (EuroQol five-dimension) index. Analysis was conducted by age-stratified groups: 50∼64 (≥3 DDS = 2070, <3 DDS = 209) and 65 (≥3 DDS = 1534, <3 DDS = 463) yrs or older. Results The ≥3 DDS group had a larger proportion of subjects who were highly educated compared to <3 DDS group (P < 0.001). In the 65 yrs or older age group, age-adjusted means of EQ-5D index of ≥3 DDS group and <3 DDS group were 0.84 and 0.74, respectively and there was significant difference (P < 0.0001). However, in the 50∼64 yrs age group, no difference was observed in EQ-5D index according to the dietary diversity. The ≥3 DDS group had a larger proportion of subjects who had no osteosarcopenic obesity compared to <3 DDS group (P < 0.05). Conclusions These results suggest that the dietary diversity may be associated with a lower health-related quality of life and osteosarcopenic obesity in Korean female aged 50 years or older. Objective: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a condition characterized by complete/partial obstruction of the upper airway that disrupts normal sleep pattern. It has become highly prevalent and negatively affects the quality of life. Reports show ≥4% of men and ≥2% of women, and mostly, the obese individuals are affected by OSA. OSA is independently associated with an increased likelihood of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diminished quality of life. Hence, it becomes a prime concern for health-care personnel to diagnose it at earliest. A screening tool is necessary to stratify patients based on their clinical symptoms, their physical examinations, and their risk factors. Thus, this study was taken up to assess the prevalence of OSA using the STOP-Bang questionnaire. Methods: A total number of 1012 participants were selected using random sampling technique from various community health camps for the study. The participants were asked to fill in the STOP-Bang questionnaire. All questionnaire respondents were precisely briefed about this study in a face-to-face interview. Data obtained from the survey were subjected to statistics, and descriptive analysis was done. Results: The prevalence of OSA was found to be 13.7% by using the Stop Bang questionnaire. It was found that the prevalence of OSA was highest in the age group of 50–59 (21.7%) and least in the age group of 18–29 (12.0%). Gender-wise distribution of OSA based on the scoring was seen to be more, among males (14.8%) and females showed a prevalence of 12.9%.Conclusion: This study concludes that the STOP-Bang method of screening showed a prevalence of 13.7%. However, the prevalence of OSA did not show any significant difference in various age groups; it was found that males had a higher prevalence of OSA compared to females.

Abstract In Latvia, no studies on the quality of life (QoL) of healthy children have been conducted. Determining the quality of life of children is an essential part of evaluating the health status of children. The subjective assessment of the individuals about their quality of life provides an opportunity to evaluate the quality of life of the population in the public health sector. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the quality of life of healthy children and adolescents in Latvia in the age group from 8 to 18, as well as to compare the answers between children and their parents living in Latvia. This study also gave an opportunity to compare the results of children and their parents living in Europe. Quality of life measurements were obtained using the KIDSCREEN-52 questionnaire, which was filled out by 100 healthy children/adolescents and 100 of their parents/guardians. The quality-of-life questionnaire consisted of ten dimensions. When evaluating the quality of life of children and adolescents by gender, no statistically significant difference was found in Latvia (p > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference (p > 0.05) between children of 8 to 11 years of age and children of 12 to 18 years of age. A statistically significant difference was found between the 8 to 11 and 12 to 18-year-old groups of young healthy children in some dimensions. In the response dimensions, self-perception (“SEL”) and emotions (“EMO”), their QoL was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in the age group from 12 to 18 years healthy children than in the age group of 8 to 11 years. Differences in child/adolescent quality of life results between Latvia and Europe were not statistically significantly different in all 10 HRQoL dimensions (p > 0.05).
