Salinity of soil and irrigation is a factor that may cause a decrease in shallot productivity, so it requires efforts with amendments. This research aimed to determine the effect of gypsum and zeolite amendments on soil and shallot growth with saline irrigation. A pot experiment was conducted in the field using a completely randomized design with three factors. The first factor was two soil types (Alfisol and Inceptisol); the second factor was three shallot cultivars (Brebes, Purbalingga, and Pemalang); and the third factor was two types of soil amendments. The results showed that gypsum and zeolite reduced pH, sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), electric conductivity paste (ECp) and Na of the soils studied. Gypsum and zeolite increased the uptake of N, P and K by shallot plants. The increase of N uptake by applying gypsum on Inceptisol was more effective to Brebes and Purbalingga cultivars than Pemalang cultivar. Gypsum increased the diameter and number of bulbs in Inceptisol. Zeolite and gypsum increased bulb weight of Purbalingga cultivar in Alfisol.

One of the entomopatogenous fungus types commonly observed and showed potency as myco-insectiside is Beauveria bassiana(Bals.) Vuill. In order to support effectiveness and patogenous activity of B. bassiana, it is necessary to add a carrying agent that protects its spores from ultra violet ray. This study aims to investigate the effect of storage temperature on viability of B. Bassianaspores on the carrier material. The observation was carried out in the Laboratory of Plant Diseases, Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute. The research was arranged in completely randomized design by three factors. The first factor was carrier (C), that consists of C1 = rice flour, C2 = maize flour and C3 = tapioca flour. The second factor was dosage (D), that consists of D1 = 1 g B. bassiana+ 1 g carrier; D2 = 1 g B. bassiana+ 5 g carrier and D3 = 1 g B. bassiana+ 10 g carrier. The third factor was temperature of the storage (T),that consists of T1 = 5oC; T2 = 23oC and T3 = 29oC. Viability of B. Bassiana spores was examined by observing development of 100 blastopores randomly and determined under light microscope with 400 times magnification. Observation was conducted in two replicates after the spores of B. bassiana were kept in the storage for 2, 4, 8 and 16 weeks. The result showed that by adding 1 g tapioca flour and temperature of storage of 5oC was potentiall in keeping viability of B. bassianaspores at least for 2 months. It was due to that tapioca flour gave better effect than rice and maize flours in keeping the storage and appropriate low temperature. Viability of B. bassianaspores decreased with increasing carrier dosage, temperature and duration of the storage. Whereas, storage at 5oC was found to be a better condition in keeping viability of dry pure B. bassianaspores longer than conditions of 23o and 29oC. Key word:Beauveria bassiana, temperature, viability, carrier.

Maluku in general and Ambon municipality in particular is a region with the lowest peanut production as compared to its national production. Cambisol is one of soil type that has good soil physical properties, but it is low in N and P contents and has an acidic reaction that inhibit the growth of peanut plants.  The research was conducted in a plastic house in Halong Village, Teluk Ambon Baguala Subdistrict, from April to Juli 2012. This research used a Completely Randomized Design with two factors, i.e. factor 1 with three levels of dolomite fertilization, consisting of D0 (without dolomite), D1 (0.3g dolomite per pot), D2 (0.6 g dolomite per pot), and factor 2 with three levels of phosphate fertilization consisting of P0 (without phosphate fertilizer), P1 (0.7 g SP-36 per pot) and P2 (1.4 SP-36 per pot). The results showed that the application of SP-36 increased the number of root nodules and yield of peanut. Response was even better if accompanied by the application of dolomite. Leaf N uptake could be enhanced by application SP-36, but it was independ from the application of dolomite. The highest peanut yield of 41.83 g per pot was achieved with the fertilizer combination of D1P2  (0.3 g dolomite per pot and  1.4 g SP36 per pot)

Bromeliads have been gaining ground in the economic scenario due mainly to their use as ornamental plants. Bromeliads of the genus Dyckia exhibit different morphologies, and therefore, have relevance in this market. However, some species are threatened due to the extraction of plants from their natural environments. Many of these species are endemic and native to Brazil and there are few studies on their seed physiology; hence, expansion of research into this topic is essential. An alternative for the preservation of such plants is the production of seedlings using seeds. To this end, the objective of this work was to evaluate the physiological potential of seeds of Dyckia brevifolia, Dyckia beateae, and Dyckia excelsa at different temperatures, and determine the number of days to carry out the tests. A completely randomized design was adopted, with three species of Dyckia, analyzed separately, and four temperatures (20, 25, 30, and 35 °C). The following were evaluated: first germination count, germination, germination speed index, length of seedling, and seedling dry weight. The data were analyzed using the Sisvar software for normality and homogeneity, and when the assumptions were met, they were subjected to analysis of variance using the F test (p < 0.05) and the means were compared using the Tukey test at 5% probability. Seeds of D. excelsa emit the radicle more quickly at 20 and 35 °C; however, temperatures of 25 and 30 °C provide better conditions for seedling growth and development. The greatest vigor of D. brevifolia seeds is observed at temperatures of 30 and 35 °C. Seeds of D. beateae emit the radicle more quickly at 20 °C, and the largest seedlings are observed at 35 °C. The first germination count of D. brevifolia, D. beateae, and D. excelsa should be evaluated on the third day after sowing. The germination evaluations for D. excelsa and D. beateae should be carried out on the ninth day after sowing, and those for D. brevifolia on the sixth day after sowing.

Cayenne pepper was a vegetable needed in the daily consumption of people in Indonesia. Efforts to increase the production of cayenne pepper include fertilization. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of various kinds of organic fertilizer and the interval of liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of cayenne pepper. This study used polybags in plastic houses, from January to May 2019 in Bangsri Village, Karangpandan District, Karanganyar Regency with a height of 450 MASL with Grumosol soil types. This research used a factorial method with the basic design of a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 treatment factors and is repeated 3 times. The first factor was the type of organic fertilizer (M) consisting of 3 levels, M0 = Soil without organic fertilizer (control), M1 = Soil and Blotong Fertilizer (ratio 1: 1), M2 = Petroganic Soil and Fertilizer (ratio 1: 1 ). The second factor was the interval of adduction liquid organic fertilizer (P) consisting of 3 levels, P0 = Without the adduction of POC (liquid organic fertilizer) (control), P1 = adduction POC every 7 days, P2 = adduction POC every 14 days. The use of organic blotong or Petroganik fertilizer mixed with soil with a ratio of 1: 1 accompanied by the administration of POC Nasa every 14 days produces the highest number and weight of fruit.

This study aimed to determine the selectivity of herbicides applied in pre- and post-emergence for alfalfa crops. Three separate experiments were carried out under greenhouse conditions. The first experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with three replications in a 4 x 11 + 1 factorial scheme , with eleven herbicides (bentazon, chlorimuron-ethyl, fomesafen, fluazifop-p-butyl, saflufenacil, imazethapyr, clethodim, nicosulfuron, imazaquin, haloxyfop-methyl and MSMA), four doses of each herbicide (0.5 D, 0.75 D, 1.0 D and 1.25 D, where D = recommended dose), plus an untreated control. The products were applied to alfalfa plants at the stage of 4 to 5 leaf pairs. In the second experiment, the effect of pre-emergent herbicides on early alfalfa development was observed through a completely randomized design with five replications in a 3 x 4 x 2 factorial scheme, with three herbicides (hexazinone, atrazine + simazine, S-metolachlor), four doses (0.5 D, 0.75 D, 1.0 D and 1.25 D), and two types of soil texture (loamy and clay soil), plus an untreated control. The third experiment evaluated the action of atrazine, 2,550 g ha-1; clomazone - 600 g ha-1; diclosulam - 25 g ha-1; diuron+hexazinone - 936 + 264 g ha-1 and diuron+hexazinone +sulfometuron - 1,386 + 391 + 33.35 g ha-1 on alfalfa sown at different times after herbicide application. The effects of the treatments on alfalfa were evaluated according to visual phytotoxicity symptoms, plant height, and biomass of roots and shoots. Among the herbicides applied at post-emergence, imazethapyr, clethodim, haloxyfop-p-methyl and MSMA were selective for alfalfa, while among those applied at pre-emergence, none were selective, regardless of soil texture. The results of the third experiment showed that the herbicides diclosulam, hexazinone + diuron and atrazine caused less toxicity in alfalfa plants.
