Introduction. The article deals with artistic bilingualism which is interpreted as the creative use of two languages in creating works of literature based on precise understanding of the specific features of semantic and pragmatic potential of these languages. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of artistic bilingualism in the work of the modern Udmurt poet B. Anfinogenov. Materials and Methods. The main source of research is the collection of B. Anfinogenov’s poetry “Aishet of the future”. The methodological framework includes linguistic analysis of poetic texts, synthesis and generalization of the achievements in literary studies, structural analysis, etc. The research is based on the use of the descriptive method as well as the method of full coverage and methods of contextual and situational-contextual analysis. Results and Discussion. Based on the analysis of the poetry of the young Udmurt author Bogdan Anfinogenov, it was revealed that one of the techniques inherent in the bilingual communication strategy is the use of code switching, which performs various functions. In addition to the traditional thematic function, emotional, decorative, recipient, factual and emphatic functions of code switching, artistic bilingualism in the work of this author draws the reader’s attention to the Udmurt language and culture. Also, the Udmurt poet deliberately emphasizes changes in the social environment and orientation towards Western culture. In other words, the use of code switching introduces additional semantic nuances into the literary text, a certain system of values, a certain type of modal-emotional meanings. Conclusion. The main constituent elements of code switching are language units representing all language levels: phonetic, morphological, syntactic. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of code switching, represented at the level of the graphic system of the Udmurt language.

In the late 1950s, Iraqi Jews were either forced or chose to leave Iraq for Israel. Finding it impossible to continue writing in Arabic in Israel, many Iraqi Jewish novelists faced the literary challenge of switching to Hebrew. Focusing on the literary works of the writers Shimon Ballas, Sami Michael and Eli Amir, this book examines their use of their native Iraqi Arabic in their Hebrew works. It examines the influence of Arabic language and culture and explores questions of language, place and belonging from the perspective of sociolinguistics and multilingualism. In addition, the book applies stylistics as a framework to investigate the range of linguistic phenomena that can be found in these exophonic texts, such as code-switching, borrowing, language and translation strategies. This new stylistic framework for analysing exophonic texts offers a future model for the study of other languages. The social and political implications of this dilemma, as it finds expression in creative writing, are also manifold. In an age of mass migration and population displacement, the conflicted loyalties explored in this book through the prism of Arabic and Hebrew are relevant in a range of linguistic contexts.

Abstract This paper aims to improve our understanding of the social psychology of code-switching by investigating societal attitudes towards two types of Chinese-English code-switching, insertions of English words in Chinese sentences and switching to English at clausal boundaries in Chinese. It examines how subjects’ evaluation of code-switching is influenced by their general language attitudes and language use associated with network exposure. The subjects were recruited from four different cities in mainland China. They participated in an online perception experiment and completed a socio-biographical questionnaire. Quantitative analyses show that clausal switching was rated as the least likable CS mode, but at the same time was considered as having high status as an indication of high English proficiency. Their evaluation was mainly influenced by their general attitudes towards English language and culture. Network exposure also played a marginal role, affecting their judgement of the speaker’s English proficiency.

Tulisan ini dilandasi pemikiran bahwa peran faktor sosial, budaya, dan situasional dalam penggunaan bahasa komunitas pedagang di Kota Semarang belum terungkap secara empiris. Selain itu, interaksi verbal pada ranah tersebut yang melibatkan berbagai partisipan dengan topik yang bervariasi akan memunculkan penggunaan bahasa yang bervariasi. Tulisan ini mendeskripsi kosabahasa, variasi bahasa, dan faktor yang memengaruhi penggunaan bahasa. Untuk mengungkap permasalahan tersebut, digunakan pendekatan linguistik, sosiologi, antropologi, dan psikologi sosial, tetapi tetap bertumpu pada permasalahan bahasa dalam hubungannya dengan masyarakat. Data tulisan ini adalah tuturan warga komunitas pedagang di Kota Semarang yang dikumpulkan melalui pengamatan langsung dengan menggunakan teknik simak, baik simak libat cakap maupun simak bebas libat cakap, dan metode wawancara yang disertai dengan teknik rekam dan catat. Melalui analisis kontekstual ditemukan bahwa kosabahasa terdiri atas bahasa Indonesia ragam formal, bahasa Indonesia ragam nonformal, bahasa Jawa ragam krama, dan bahasa Jawa ragam ngoko. Variasi berwujud tunggal bahasa, alih kode, dan campur kode. Pilihan tunggal bahasa meliputi pengunaan bahasa Indonesia ragam formal, bahasa Indonesia ragam nonformal, bahasa Jawa ragam krama, dan bahasa Jawa ragam ngoko. Alih kode terdiri atas alih kode dari bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Jawa krama, bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Jawa ngoko, bahasa Jawa krama ke bahasa Indonesia, dan bahasa Jawa ngoko ke bahasa Indonesia. Campur kode terdiri atas campur kode bahasa Jawa ragam krama dalam bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Jawa ragam ngoko dalam bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Indonesia dalam bahasa Jawa ragam krama, bahasa Jawa ragam ngoko dalam bahasa Jawa ragam krama, bahasa Indonesia dalam bahasa Jawa ragam ngoko, dan bahasa Jawa ragam krama dalam bahasa Jawa ragam ngoko. Campur kode tersebut berbentuk kata, frasa, baster, perulangan, dan ungkapan. Faktor yang memengaruhi penggunaan bahasa adalah status sosial, jarak sosial, usia, situasi tutur, dan tujuan tutur.    This research is conducted to the fact that the role of social factor, culture, and the situation of the language use in Semarang merchant’s community is not yet being studied empirically. In the other side, the verbal interaction in such community involves various participants with various topics and language use. This study aims to describe the language vocabulary, variation, and factors that infl uence the language use. To overcome the problems, the writer not only uses the linguistics, sociology, anthropology, and social psychology approaches, but also relates language with society. The data is taken from the utterances of the merchant’s community in Semarang which are collected from the direct observation using the techniques of simak, whether simak libat cakap or simak bebas libat cakap, and the method of interview using the take-note and interview method. Through the contextual analysis, it is found that the language vocabularies of the community are formal and nonformal Indonesian language, Javanese krama and ngoko. The variations are in the form of single language, code switching, and code mixing. The single language is in the form of formal and nonfromal Indonesian, Javenese karma and ngoko. The code switching is in the form of switching Indonesian to Javanese krama, Indonesian to Javanese ngoko, Javanese krama to Indonesian, and Javanese ngoko to Indonesian. The code mixing is in the form of Javanese krama in Indonesian, Javanese ngoko in Indonesian, Indonesian in Javanese krama, Javanese ngoko in Javanese krama, Indonesian in Javanese ngoko, and Javanese krama in Javanese ngoko. The code mixing is found in words, phrases, baster, repetition, and expressions. The factors that infl uence the language use is the social status, social distance, age, purpose and the situation of the utterances.

<div><p><em>The article analyzes the peculiarities of the format of native advertising in the media space, its pragmatic potential (in particular, on the example of native content in the social network Facebook by the brand of the journalism department of ZNU), highlights the types and trends of native advertising. The following research methods were used to achieve the purpose of intelligence: descriptive (content content, including various examples), comparative (content presentation options) and typological (types, trends of native advertising, in particular, cross-media as an opportunity to submit content in different formats (video, audio, photos, text, infographics, etc.)), content analysis method using Internet services (using Popsters service). And the native code for analytics was the page of the journalism department of Zaporizhzhya National University on the social network Facebook. After all, the brand of the journalism department of Zaporozhye National University in 2019 celebrates its 15th anniversary. The brand vector is its value component and professional training with balanced distribution of theoretical and practical blocks (seven practices), student-centered (democratic interaction and high-level teacher-student dialogue) and integration into Ukrainian and world educational process (participation in grant programs).</em></p></div><p><em>And advertising on social networks is also a kind of native content, which does not appear in special blocks, and is organically inscribed on one page or another and unobtrusively offers, just remembering the product as if «to the word». Popsters service functionality, which evaluates an account (or linked accounts of one person) for 35 parameters, but the main three areas: reach or influence, or how many users evaluate, comment on the recording; true reach – the number of people affected; network score – an assessment of the audience’s response to the impact, or how far the network information diverges (how many share information on this page).</em></p><p><strong><em>Key words:</em></strong><em> nativeness, native advertising, branded content, special project, communication strategy.</em></p>

The article is devoted to the formation of a linguistic interpretation of the interaction of language and culture of the Polish-Ukrainian border territories. The material for the analysis includes nomic systems of Ukrainian and Polish languages, which are considered as a cultural product of interpersonal and interethnic communication and an element of the language system, as well as invariant scientific theory created in the works of Polish onomastics (according to key theoretical concepts, tradition of analysis, and continuity in linguistic knowledge). The analysis performed in the article allows us to single out the linguistic indicators of the interaction of language and culture typical for the subject field of sociolinguistics. These are connections and concepts: language-territory, language-social strata, language-gender, language-ethnicity, social functions of the Polish language, and non-standardized spelling systems. Linguistic indicators reveal the peculiar mechanisms of the border in the historical memory and collective consciousness, marking the role of languages in these areas as a factor of space and cultural marker and bringing us closer to understanding the social relations of native speakers in the fifteenth-nineteenth centuries.

This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of the existence of the local social organization in conducting community empowerment. The experiment was conducted at Community Empowerment Institution (In Indonesia it is referred to as Lembaga Pemberdayaan Masyarakat/LPM). LPM Cibeunying as one of the local social institution in Bandung regency. Aspects reviewed in the study include the style of leadership, processes, and stages of community empowerment, as well as the LPM network. The research method used is a case study with the descriptive method and qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted against five informants consisting of the Chairman and LPM’s Board members, village officials, and community leaders. The results show that the dominant leadership style is participative, in addition to that, a supportive leadership style and directive leadership style are also used in certain situations. The empowerment process carried out per the stages of the empowerment process is identifying and assessing the potential of the region, problems, and opportunities-chances; arranging a participative activity plan; implementing the activity plan; and monitoring and evaluating the process and results of activities. The social networking of LPM leads to a social network of power in which LPM can influence the behavior of communities and community institutions in utilizing and managing community empowerment programs. From the research, it can be concluded that the model of community empowerment implemented by LPM Cibeunying Village is enabling, empowering, and protecting.

AbstractThe right to an education that is consonant with and draws upon the culture and language of indigenous peoples is a human right which is too often overlooked by governments when they develop and implement programmes whose purported goals are to improve the social, economic and political status of these peoples. Educational programmes for indigenous peoples must fully respect and integrate human rights protections, particularly rights to cultural continuity and integrity. Racist attitudes dominate many government development programmes aimed at indigenous peoples. Educational programmes for indigenous peoples are often designed to forcibly assimilate them and destroy the uniqueness of their language, values, culture and relationship with their native lands. Until indigenous peoples are empowered to develop educational programmes for their own communities that reflect and promote their values and culture, their human rights are likely to remain threatened by governments that use education as a political mechanism for coercing indigenous peoples to adapt to a majority culture that does not recognize their rights, and that seeks to destroy their ability to sustain and pass on to future generations their language and culture.

This article analyzes the public discourse on the riots of 16 January 2009, in Vilnius, when protest against economic shock therapy ended in violent clashes with the police. Politicians and the media were quick to ethnicize the riots, claiming an “involvement of foreign influences” and noting that the rioters had been predominantly “Russian-speaking.” Analyzing electronic and print media, the article identifies a wider tendency, particularly among middle-class Lithuanian youth, of portraying the social class consisting of “losers of the post-soviet transition” as aggressive and primitive Others. A pseudo-ethnicity that combines Rus sian language and culture with lower-class background into a notion of homo sovieticus comes to stand for what is hindering the “clean up” of Lithuania and middleclass aspirations to form a new European identity. As such, the riots serve as a lens that illuminates the way ethnicity is flexibly utilized to shift political loyalties.

Raag, a folk term has used for Drama in ancient Brahui. In folk literature when the Brahui modern literature were not introduced the Term Raag were used for entertain. After establishment of Radio Station center at Quetta, the different parts of modern literature opened the windows for Brahui fiction. There is prominent writer which Mr. Ghulam Nabi Rahi has started firstly Brahui radio Drama, soon after the tradition of Brahui drama has spread all over the Balochistan. A compilation of his first period’s Drama known as Isto naa Bandagh. This research paper discussed and analyses the technique and tendency of Rahi’s Drama. Mostly his dramas have played from Radio and Television Quetta center after Sixties. Shaahbeg naa wataakh a very famous radio Drama, where the social problems were reflecting. A descriptive method has been used to complete this paper.
