This paper describes the construction of the practice of Islam as a symbol of group identity in the midst of the reality of society through the representation of Muslim women in the Queen's Religion prostrate novel. This research with a qualitative approach to semiotic analysis from Roland Barthes describes the text with denotative, connotative and mythical systematics. The novel Ratu yang Bersujud which prostrates presents the Islamic concept of Muslim women in the form of protection and breeding for women, the primacy of the role of women in the household, women as male partners and equality of men and women. Representation of the concept of muslim women is part of Islamic construction as a group identity. The construction of reality as a result of the interaction between the writer and the reality of Islamic thought, the reality of women's progress, the reality of the negative stigma of western civilization towards Islam, and the reality of symbolic trends in religious life, which is then disignified in novel texts, and internalized by society. The results of this study become an illustration of the reality of trends in society that make the understanding of Islam about the position of women as representations of identity, through cultural products, in the form of religious novels. The findings and analysis can be an illustration of the process of intervention in social change, including interventions that are da'wah framed. Propagators can use cultural products as a medium or means to internalize various thoughts in Islam into a reality constructed in the community.Tulisan ini menggambarkan konstruksi pengamalan Islam sebagai simbol identitas kelompok  di tengah realitas masyarakat  melalui representasi perempuan muslim pada novel religi Ratu yang Bersujud. Penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif analisis semiotika dari Roland Barthes ini menguraikan teks dangan sistematika  denotatif, konotatif dan mitos. Novel Ratu yang Bersujud yang bersujud menghadirkan konsep Islam tentang perempuan muslim berupa perlindungan dan pemuliaan bagi perempuan, keutamaan peran perempuan dalam rumah tangga, perempuan sebagai mitra laki-laki dan  kesetaraan laki-laki dan perempuan. Representasi konsep perempuan muslim merupakan bagian dari konstruksi Islam sebagai identitas kelompok. Konstruksi realitas sebagai hasil interaksi antara penulis dengan realitas pemikiran Islam, realitas kemajuan perempuan, realitas stigma negatif peradaban barat terhadap Islam, serta realitas tren simbolik kehidupan beragama, yang kemudian disignifikasi dalam teks-teks novel, dan diinternalisasi oleh masyarakat. Hasil penelitian ini menjadi gambaran tentang realitas tren di masyarakat yang menjadikan paham agama Islam tentang posisi perempuan sebagai representasi identitas, melalui produk budaya, berupa novel religi. Hasil temuan dan analisis ini dapat menjadi gambaran bagi proses intervensi dalam perubahan sosial, termasuk dalam  intervensi yang berbingkai dakwah. Para pelaku dakwah dapat menggunakan produk budaya sebagai  media atau sarana dalam menginternalisasikan berbagai pemikiran dalam Islam menjadi realitas yang dikonstruksi di tengah masyarakat.

This study aims to describe the representation of sex education in the film Dua Garis Biru by director Gina S. Noer. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research method uses Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis with two-way significance and the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth. The subjects of this study are Dara and Bima, the object of this study is a sign of sex education represented in scenes, dialogues, and characters in films. Methods of data collection by observation, literature study, interviews, and documentation. The film Dua Garis Biru tells the story of how Dara and Bima, two teenagers, must be responsible for the consequences that they did not think of before due to free sex. This film also illustrates the important role of parents in communicating information about sex to children. The results of this study indicate that there is a picture of sex education in the film Two Blue Lines. It was concluded that the side or form of sex education is displayed in scenes, dialogues, or characters that insert the importance of knowing sex education and knowing the consequences of every action related to sex. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan representasi pendidikan seks  dalam Film Dua Garis Biru karya sutradara Gina S. Noer. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Metode penelitian menggunakan Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes dengan signifikan dua arah dan pemaknaan denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Subjek penelitian ini adalah Dara dan Bima, objek penelitian ini adalah tanda pendidikan seks yang direpresentasikan dalam adegan, dialog, dan karakter dalam film. Metode pengumpulan data dengan observasi, studi pustaka, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Film Dua Garis Biru bercerita tentang bagaimana Dara dan Bima, dua remaja harus bertanggung jawab atas konsekuensi yang tidak mereka pikirkan sebelumnya karena melakukan seks pranikah. Film ini juga menggambarkan pentingnya peran orang tua dalam mengkomunikasikan informasi tentang seks kepada anak. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat gambaran tentang pendidikan seks dalam film. Sisi atau bentuk pendidikan seks ditampilkan dalam cuplikan adegan, dialog, atau karakter tokoh yang menyisipkan pentingnya mengenal pendidikan seks dan mengetahui konsekuensi dari setiap perbuatan yang berhubungan dengan seks.

The current era, with fertile technology that is increasingly developing, certainly has positive and negative sides. One of the phenomena that shows the negative side of development technologies such as Youtube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook is that many cildren use media gadgets as playmates, so that the child is not controlled is choosing content that is popular in cyberspace, as a reseult the child will further away from values religion, humanitarian values, values justice and moral values. In this article, the researcher describes the prevention of moral decadence for the younger generation, so it is necessary to increase the role of education, especially the role of parents in selecting entertaiment content that contains moral values for children. These efforts are made to prepare the next generation who have knowledge, faith and good character. The writing of this article uses qualitative research with descriptive analysis. The writer in this article uses Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis model known as “two order of signification”, namely by looking for the denotative meaning the connotation of each scene. From using this method the researcher foumd that the animated film Nussa and Rarra, the episode of prayer must contain values from the concept of Islamic teachings, namely Akidah, Sharia and Moral. If parents are able to nurture and guide by choosing content that educated and implements in life, it is hoped that the child will become a person with character according to the expectation of the nation and religion. Film berjudul Siti yang disutradarai oleh Eddie Cahyono berhasil memenangkan ajang Festival Film Indonesia pada 2015. Film yang ditayangkan terbatas ini berkisah mengenai peran seorang ibu, istri, sekaligus pencari nafkah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan representasi perempuan dalam film Siti. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode semiotika Roland Barthes. Dari film ini, setidaknya ada tiga hal yang bisa dikemukakan sebagai penekanan. Pertama, film ini tidak keluar dari sosok Siti (sosok perempuan yang lemah, tabah, dan kuat). Kedua, unsur lokalitas tetap dibangun tanpa dipermainkan. Ketiga, sajian sinematik yang minimalis dan sederhana menjadikan setiap pesan dalam film ini bisa tersampaikan dengan baik. Sekalipun film ini hadir dalam ruang kontradiktif satu sama lain, karena mengangkat dan menggambarkan sosok perempuan Jawa yang hidup dalam kesumukan budaya patriarkal, bukan berarti film ini membawa/menyuarakan paradigma feminis atau keadilan/ketidakadilan gender.Kata Kunci: Siti, perempuan Jawa, patriarkal, film The film titled Siti, directed by Eddie Cahyono, won Indonesian Film Festival in 2015. The limited screened film revolves around the role of a mother, wife, and breadwinner. This study aims to describe the representation of women in the film Siti. This study uses a qualitative approach with Roland Barthes's semiotic method. From this film, there are at least three things that can be put forward as emphasis. First, this film did not come out of the figure of Siti (a weak, steadfast and strong woman). Second, the element of locality is still built without being mocked. Third, a minimalist and simple cinematic presentation makes every message in this film well conveyed. Even this film is present in contradictory space with one another because raising and describing Javanese women who live in the patriarchal culture, it does not mean that this film brings out the feminist paradigm or gender justice/injustice.Keywords: Siti, Javanese women, patriarchy, film

This paper is entitled “The Analysis Code Switching Found in The Novel “Critical Eleven”. The aims of this study  are to describe the types, function and to the analyse reasons of code switching used by the novelist. The data  in this study were taken from all chapters of the novel entitled “Critical Eleven”by Ika Natassa. Firstly, the code switching that occurs in novel were identified and then they were classified and analyzed based on their types, function, and reasons of code switching. The collected data were analyzed  using three theories;  first the theory by Poplack as the main theory used in this study; this theory was used to analyze the three types of code swtching, they are: Tag Switching, Inter-Sentental Switching, Intra-Sentential Switching. The second theory proposed by Apple and Muyken was used to anlyze the function of code switching. They divided the functions into six categories, which are: Referential Function, Directive Function, Expressive Function, Phatic Function, Metalinguistic Function, Poetic Function. The theory proposed by Grosjean was used to analyze the reason of code switching.  There are ten reasons of code switching; they are: To Fill A Linguistic Need For Lexical Item, Set Phrase, Discouse Marker Or Sentence Filler,To Continue Last Language Used (Triggering}, To Qoute Someone, To Emphasize, To Spesify Speaket Addressee, To Qualify Message: Amplify Or Emphasize, To Specify Speaker Involvement, To Mark And Emphasize Group Identity (Solidarity), To Convey Confidentially, Anger, Annoyance, To  Exclude Someone From Conversation, To Change Role Of Speaker: Rise Status, Add Authority, Show Expertise.But from the six functions of code switching  applied, there are only five functions of code switching found in the novel; they are Referential Function, Expressive Function, Phatic Function, Metalinguistic Function And Poetic Function. And based on the reasons of code switching, there were only seven which were found in the novel”Critical Eleven”; they are To Fill A Linguistic Need For Lexical Item, To Continue The Last Language Used (Triggering), To Quote Someone, Specify Addressee, To Specify Speaker Involvement, To Mark And Emphasize Group Identify (Solidarity) And To Convey Confidentially, Anger, And Annoyance.

Traditional Islamic thought in general provides limited role of women as wives and mothers. Based on the view of classical Islamic texts and literature are still seen that women are still marginalized, or in other words, women are still under the domination of men. Therefore, women need to construct a discourse or text at will. It is undeniable that the interpretation of the classical scholars on the concept of equality of men and women from the perspective of today may well be judged as biased. For interpretations of the past can not be released to the socio-historical context of the time. Departing from the problems mentioned above then this article would like to see and analyze how the concepts offered and presented Islam in view of gender equality between men and women starting from the concept of gender so that the concept of gender bias by sex.Selanjutnyan followed by a discussion of the word gender mufrodat in the Qur'an and concludes with the interpretation of the discourse of gender equality. This study aims to determine the provisions of the role of women as female workers in the perspective of Islamic law, and the provisions of the role of women as female workers from the perspective of positive Indonesian law. The type of research used is field research using a qualitative approach. The data collection instrument use is the interview and observation studies. This study uses descriptive analytic. The results of this study indicate that The role of women as female workers in the perspective of Islamic law is basically permissible, due to seeking the living to fulfill the means of life is the right and obligation of both men and women as long as a wife does not neglect her obligations to her husband and children. The role of women as female workers  in the perspective of positive Indonesian law is also permissible, because a woman is able to carry out activities both inside and outside the employment relationship to produce goods or services to meet their own needs and community needs.

This study aims to obtain an overview and deep understanding of the role of women in society, especially the stereotypes of women in the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban and Geni Jora by Abidah El Khalieqy. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Primary data sources in this study are novels by Abidah El Khalieqy including: Women Berkalung Sorban (2001) and Geni Jora (2004). Data collection techniques are in the form of document searches. In this case, the form of awareness and flow of feminist thought contained in Indonesian literary texts is understood to mean the use of feminism studies. The data analysis procedure used in this study is content analysis.

Women who have been used as the object of national development is considered to be anfair, due to the current conditions of women already have to be the perpetrators of the change. Their motion is limited in the domestic territory. Indeed, the normative idea contained in the 1945 Constitution has never been a record stating that there is no differentiate between men and women. Politic and election are clear to accommodate women to participate more broadly. The research objectives is to know: 1) kinds of programs of KPI Blitar 2) Supporting factors and inhibitors program of KPI Blitar. This research uses a qualitative approach that describes all the activities of KPI Blitar related to efforts of women empowerment in Blitar. The results of this research indicates: 1) The role of KPI Blitar city in Improving Leadership of female autonomy. 2) Supporting factors of KPI Blitar city which cooperate with government institution, independently, local and national. “Tilik” is the title of a short film that tells the social reality of everyday life in Javanese society. This film received a lot of attention and appreciation, and was watched by millions of viewers on YouTube. Throughout the film, the contents of the story are dominated by gossip activities. This research aimed to describe the representation of gossip displayed in the movie “Tilik” and to reveal the function of gossip. Foster’s study suggests four primary gossip functions: information, entertainment, friendship and influence. Descriptive qualitative method were used and the results were analysed using semiotic analysis by Roland Barthes. The results indicate that gossip activities in the film “Tilik” display, among other things, the function of information. This can be seen when the group that wants to meet up in the truck shared a story discussing gossip about Dian’s character. Second, the entertainment function is also seen when talking about gossip: they are listening, enjoying and laughing. Furthermore, the friendship function can be seen in the sharing norms of in-group members. Finally, the role of influence can be seen from the main character, namely Mrs. Tejo, with her body language trying to convince and lead the opinions of group members. Yu Ning’s character became an outsider because she disagreed with the sentiment. The message conveyed in this film is that people must start using technology and keep up with the changes. This film also describes the hoax phenomenon in society, where information that is conveyed is sometimes not true. So public education is needed to confirm the truth of the information circulating on social media. Keywords: film, gossip, representation

The purpose of this study is to identify L-Men Ads critically through representations of five actors. It is done to dismantle the process of forming male masculinity images in L-Men advertisements through visual methods with the syntagmatic approach of Roland Barthes. Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis is used to find patterns and intrinsic elements of the masculinity that are built into advertising. The myths of masculine men are depicted by certain types of sports, accessories, hairstyles, clothing, clothing colors, handsome faces, muscular body shapes, fancy place settings, and sexy women. The characters that are considered masculine are man with a muscular body, a man whose sportsmanship, man as new warriors, and man as a hero. L'Men Gain Mass wants to create pseudo masculinity by incorporating ideological values ​​that blend with images, fantasies, and dreams. These values ​​have been built successfully through the role of Copy Writer, and Visualizer in packaging L'men Gain Mass products, which are then well communicated and mixed with consumerism ideology.
