This article discusses the form and function of pro-selytizing phatic communication on the Instagram account vi-deo @caknunquotes. By using descriptive qualitative methods through the techniques of listening and note taking, the study found that most of the categories in da’wa on the Instagram video @caknunquotes carried a lot of regional elements or re-gional dialects in the form of particle fat, fatic words, and fatic phrases. With regard to phatic communication function, it expresses courtesy to the congregation, convinces the congre-gation, confirms the contents of the da'wah, asks for approval, greetings to familiarize themselves, as a form of proof of the intent or contents of the preaching, Javanese expression, as emphasis on the sentence sentence, and as a form of clarifying the contents again propaganda. In addition, flabby communi-cation with dialect or local language style makes the speech partner more deeply the contents of his da'wah.

Presentation Form And Function In Ceremony Thau Music Chit On Confucian Religion inYayasan Budi Mulia Lubuk Pakam District of Deli Serdang. Faculty of Language and Art. StateUniversity of Medan. This study aims to determine rites Chit Thau, the usefulness of theinstrument, the form of presentation and function of music in Chit Thau ceremony at the Confucianreligion in Yayasan Budi Mulia Lubuk Pakam District of Deli Serdang. This study is based on atheoretical foundation that explains the sense of form, sense of presentation, understanding thefunction, understanding music, understanding, Thau ceremony Chit, and understanding ofConfucianism. This research was conducted at Yayasan Budi Mulia Lubuk pakam District of DeliSerdang in June to August 2015. The method in this research use descriptive qualitative researchmethods. The population in this study is saikong (prayer leaders), community, and musicians atthe ceremony Thau Chit Confucian Religion in Yayasan Budi Mulia Lubuk Pakam District of DeliSerdang, while samples totaling 28 people. Data collected through observation, interviews,documentation, and strudi literature. These results indicate that the rites Thau Chit divided intoeight parts, namely Huat Piau is cleaning the altar and sending letters to the god of hell. WangPai is a tribute to the gods of heaven. Old Phou is the process invites the god of the earth. TiauHun is the process of summoning spirits. Mong Ek is the process of bathing spirit. Iok Pai Wang isa tribute to the god of medicine. Sio Ui house burning spirit. And Koei Kio is the return of thespirit of the gods .. Uses istrument music at the ceremony Thau Confucianism is Choei Chit Khinand Er Hu as a carrier melody, as rithem drums, bells and la Bua carrier tempo. Form ofpresentation of the music at the ceremony Thau Chit Confucianism is divided into three parts,namely musical homage to the gods, notification to the spirit, and the spirit returns to music.There are three functions of the music at the ceremony Thau Chit Confucianism, which is afunction of aesthetic pleasure and emotional expression, communication function and endorsementof religious rituals and functions contributes to the continuity and stability of culture.

This study focuses on the form and function of code-switching and code-mixing used in the Fashion  Program "I LOOK " on NET TV. This study is aimed to answer the following problem: 1.What is the forms of code-switching and code-mixing used in the Fashion  Program "I LOOK" on NET TV, and What are the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in Fashion Program "I LOOK" on NET TV. To answer the problem, the writer used descriptive qualitative research through theoretical triangulation the total data 72 unit of analysis of code-switching found that  22 data used tag switching, 18 data used inter-sentential switching, and  32 used intra-sentential switching. It showed that intra-sentential switching is commonly used by  Kimmy  Jayanti in the fashion program "I LOOK" on NET TV. Furthermore, 127 unit data analysis of code-mixing performed 74 insertions of words, 48 insertions of phrases, 2 insertions of hybrids, and 3 insertions of reduplications. Meanwhile, there is 250 function of code-switching and code-mixing used by Kimmy  Jayanti in the fashin program "I LOOK" in  NET TV. They are quotation  1, addressee specification  24, repetition  1, interjection 31, message qualification 12, personalization and objectivization  15, and facility of expression  121.

This study aims to find out the lexicon and its meanings used by gay people in Bali for the topic of preference. The data was collected through qualitative methods by interviewing informants, recording, and note-taking as well as doing participatory observation to gay people from several places, nightclubs, and communities in Bali including Balijoe, and Mixwell bar in Seminyak, and Bali Peace Crew Community in Denpasar. The data was qualitatively analyzed and descriptively presented based on lavender linguistics, which according to William Leap, is a study about the language used by the queer community to communicate. The theories used are sociolinguistics theories proposed by Yule which are slang and speech varieties. It resulted in 10 lexicons were used by gay people in the level of word, phrase, and abbreviation to exchange information or communicate with the interlocutors. The meanings of each lexicon are influenced by participants, setting, topic, and function.

The purpose of this study is to describe the types of use of language style in the collection of poems of “Dear You” by Moammar Emka published in 2011. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods. The data source in this study is a collection of poems contained in the poem “Dear You” by Moammar Emka. Data collection techniques in research, using content analysis techniques (text). The results of this study indicate that the use of language style and the value of character education in the collection of poetry “Dear You” by MoammarEmka has a type of language style: (a) parables, (b) metaphors, (c) personification, (d) depersonification, (e) hyperbole, (f) litotes, (g) metonimia, (h) sinekdoke, (i) alliteration, and (j) asonance. Of the ten language styles, the data obtained were 117 data with the smallest data of four data, namely the style of asonance language and the most data of thirty-four data, namely the style of the metaphorical language.

The field of meaning and components is one of the bases for understanding the meaning of a language. And this theory helps researchers uncover the meaning of the verb 'to purify' in Arabic. The verb 'to purify' was chosen because it has an essential meaning for Muslims. Even the Qur'an uses various lexemes for this verb by looking at its context, subject, and function because different lexemes carry different meanings and legal implications. Therefore, this study aims to describe the meaning field, analyze the meaning component, and explain the verbum component of the verb 'to purify' in Arabic. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected from the Qur'an, with selective reading and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model by Miles and Huberman, namely by collecting data from sources and sorting it then selecting it to produce findings of four purifying verbs, namely طَهَّرَ، قَدَّسَ، زَكَّى،, and سَبَّحَ. The following components of meaning are determined through the type of subject, object, characteristics of the object, and how it works and concluded that the verb 'to purify' is included in the category of state verb and process verb. Malay Architecture is one of the architectures that developed in Medan City and its surroundings. Malay ethnicity has existed and developed in this area marked by the presence of the Deli Malay Sultanate whose Kingdom capital is in Medan. With the existence of this Sultanate, the existence of Malay architecture is getting stronger and influencing the community, especially for the Malay community. This article aims to look at the development of Malay architecture nowadays with various influences that come from everywhere. This influence is certainly related to the form of this building which changes follow the times. Observation locations are in Medan and its surrounding areas, namely Langkat and Serdang Bedagai. Qualitative methods are used to see physical facts in the field which are corroborated by the questionnaire as a form of respondents’ expressions. The results obtained are some changes to the building caused by the variety of activities owned by residents of the house so that it requires space that affect the changes in the form and function of the building. Overall, the building owner still maintains the characteristics of Malay traditional architecture, especially the use of ornaments or decoration on the building.

The aim of this research was to describe the local language form, function, and typical of it in the directive act at the university in Central Sulawesi. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative in socio-pragmatics approach. The source of the data was gained from lecturers and students utterances in discourse lecture. The data collection used note taking. Meanwhile, the techniques of analyzing data were the interactive analysis that consisted of four steps, namely data collection, data reduction, data analysis, and verification or drawing the conclusion. The result of the research shows that the local language form in directive act consisted of imperative, interrogative, and declarative. The functions of local language in directive acts are the prohibitive function, suggestive function, requestive, and permissive function. The typical local language that used is characterized by regional language and its dialect.

Utomo’s novels are very related to the theme of religion and culture. The language used tends to be simple but still interesting and beautiful so research on the form and function of language style is very interesting. The purpose of this study is to describe the form and function of language style in the three Utomo novels. Data collection is done by heuristic techniques or read by repeatedly. Data analysis method used is hermeneutics. Almost all types of figurative language styles are found, but for the sake of effective exposure, only three data would be presented as examples of the form of language style and the function of language style. The three most found figurative languages are metaphor, simile, hyperbole, personification, and sinekdoke. The function of language also varies, starting from clarifying the picture, increasing the impression, shortening the narrative, and describing the character's feelings. Fulfillment of these functions with simple but beautiful forms of language style makes Utomo's novels have high aesthetic value and are easily understood by readers.

This research is entitled, "The Meaning of Words in the Field of Building Structures Associated with the Biological Field". This study aims to analyze the meaning of various terms, in particular, words in the field of building structures that contain biological elements. Researchers used descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection was done by observing method and note taking technique. The data in this study are in the form of a list of terms contained in the SNI for loading and SNI for reinforced concrete. The theory of semantic studies regarding the shift in meaning, especially associative meaning, becomes the theory used in research. The results show that in the field of civil engineering there are the same words as elements of the term biological. Some of the associated words include diaphragm, reinforcement, and tendons. These three words are used because of developments in science and technology, differences in usage, and development of terms. These three factors are caused by the need to use terms in the field of civil engineering which contain elements of similarity in nature to biological elements


One of the endangered local languages in Eastern region of Indonesia is Mongondow Language (Bahasa Mongondow). Despite its usage among local people of Mongondow, this language is in the threat of fading out due to the existence of Manado Malay and national language. Dealing with this challenge, the government launched a curriculum emphasizing upon the inclusion of local contents including language in the learning process. One of which is Mongondow pronoun that is significantly used for plural activities and continuous intensity. Within such context, this research paper aims at revealing the comparison of pronoun of Mongondow language to Indonesian national language in terms of form and function. It also discusses the contribution of the local language to the learning of national language in schools. This research is descriptively qualitative in nature. Data are taken from several regions in Mongondow which are considered being the place for the speakers of the language. The data are comparatively analyzed. The results show that it is true that the pronoun of Mongondow language take several forms, however they have its similarities to that of Indonesian national language in terms of forms, functions and meanings. These similarities define the benefits of using the local language to the learning of the national language in the regions of Mongondow.
