The development of information and computerized tenology has led to what is called the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW). In addition, the dramatic development of the Internet has given users more choice and control over content, and also provides individuals, businesses, and public and private organizations with the opportunity to generate and disseminate information. The interactive features of the web can be an effective way to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships if the web is used properly. The presence of the Internet has proven to have a positive impact on the development of a village, sub-district or district to introduce and inform the potential of its region. This is evident in several regions of Indonesia which have successfully used Internet facilities to introduce tourist destinations to the world. Therefore, the training on the promotion website is an effort to optimize the introduction of high quality village products in the district of Patuk and is also intended to follow the results of research on the design of a promotion of superior products and tourist objects on the web in Patuk Gunungkidul district. On the basis of the website promotion feasibility test during the training for each representative in 11 villages in the Patuk sub-district, 87.36% was obtained, so that it can be said that the Introduction of superior village products via promotional materials based on the website was optimal and met the needs of users.

This paper reports on the first stage of a study on the usage of electronic information services (EIS) by staff and students at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU). The study used by qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The questionnaires used at GCU were modeled on those developed at LMU. The project aimed to monitor off-campus usage of EIS, the use of passworded databases, and the freely available internet. The volume of electronic citations in students' course work and the possibility of developing routine performance indicators were also examined. Focus Groups were conducted with both staff and students between November 2001 and March 2002. These suggested, inter alia, that paramedics are the heaviest users of EIS and that paramedicine is the subject area where EIS are most integrated into the curriculum. Attitudes to the internet are extremely varied. Mode of attendance and workplace usage are important factors.

In this study, the presence and management of the social networks of 78 tourist destinations were analyzed for the development of sustainable tourism, with particular attention being paid to Spanish smart destinations. The variables for the empirical analysis were determined from a literature review, and it was concluded from a descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and an analysis of variance, that although the presence of tourist destinations on the internet and on social networks was notable, their management was inadequate for the development of sustainable tourist destinations. It was shown that there is a direct relationship between the number of visitors at a tourist destination and its presence on social networks. However, our analyses found that this correlation was not related to social network management; a greater number of visitors were not related to the effective management of social networks. It was concluded that smart destinations, despite having a technological advantage, did not stand out for their presence and management on social networks. The manuscript ends with some recommendations for the future

Bali is one of the small islands in Indonesia that known as an international and national tourists destination. Many of Information related to tourist destinations in Bali is scattered and fragmented available on the Internet. This causes many of the potential tourists who want to find information related to tourist destinations in Bali to have to visit one site to another to aggregate the information. Besides, much of the information available on the Internet is human-readable but not for computer applications, and this becomes a challenge for computer applications to aggregate existing information. This study aims to develop an ontology model in the domain of Bali's tourism destinations by adopting the kulkul knowledge framework (Tri Hita Karana and Kala Patra Village) in which this ontology as a backbone of the semantic web can be utilised by computer-based applications to manipulate existing information for user needs. In this study, initial testing is done regarding the proposed ontological model by providing a set of questions that are commonly used by users when accessing information about tourism destination. So, it is expected that the propose ontology model will be able to provide information on tourism in Bali systematically.

A large amount of educational resources are currently available in the Internet, covering educational needs for many school grades. However, using such wealth of material, typically dispersed in several repositories, in a simple and effective way, is rather challenging due to the difficulties encountered by teachers in learning the peculiar access and operational procedures that each repository system requires. Therefore, it is important to provide the teachers with a centralized, integrated, simple system that can address most of their needs so that every operation (search, edit, share, download) can be done from a single location. This work follows this direction by designing and presenting both an architecture to integrate different repository systems using the Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) API and an integration layer that provides a simple web interface suitable for the needs of both the content creators (teachers) and the users of the contents (learners). Results have been evaluated both quantitatively, i.e., using performance indicators such as response time, and qualitatively, on the basis of the user experience evaluated through a questionnaire. Both type of results show that the platform adequately addresses user needs therefore it has the potential to be embraced by a large user community.
