Business process outsourcing (BPO) is transforming Western companies’ corporate real estate (CRE) requirements. When business processes move to a developing country there are consequences for that country’s CRE practice. This paper considers the effects of western BPO on Indian CRE. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was used to analyze data from a survey of professionals operating in Indian CRE. Location issues, quality of workspace, and the availability of human resources were identified as important in establishing BPO activities in India. Suburban, and campus or built-to-suit facilities, were increasingly preferred locations and styles of workplace that were transforming Indian CRE practice. Also, the effect of western BPO was impacting on the types of CRE services being offered. With the continuing growth in BPO to ‘secondary cities’ the transformational effects on local CRE practice are likely to spread and further transform CRE practice in India.

AbstractThe “ECO - CAN” project proposes the implementation of food dispensing machines for stray dogs in strategic areas of the city of Cuenca. To measure the feasibility of the project, a qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out, for which, the support and acceptance of ECO - CAN was consulted through interviews with veterinarians, foundations, technicians and people involved with the environment and animals, obtaining results and very positive comments about the project. In addition, surveys were conducted on a probabilistic sample of 384 people (95% confidence level was applied), of which 99% of the interviewees agree and would support the implementation of the project. Among the questions, it was proposed to place the machines in the city parks, and in the same way the response was positive, with 90% acceptance. It was also analyzed if the project was self-sustaining, and the minimum attractive rate of return required (TMAR) was exceeded, which was 16.2%, and a NPV of $ 17,373.58 was obtained. With the results obtained, it can be deduced that the implementation of the project is very feasible and that it will generate a great impact in the city of Cuenca. The main objectives of the project are related to the reduction of the dog population that roams the streets without any protection and exposed to constant dangers, in addition, to generate the habit of recycling in the basin society, considering that the machine works with bottles of plastic.KeywordsFeasibility, food vending machines, pollution, recycling, social responsibility, stray dogs.

In this article, the problems of dubbing, especially related to lip synchrony as one of the most challenging aspects of audiovisual translation, are scrutinised. Contrarily to the traditional focus on bilabials and open vowels, the object of this research is lip synchrony of both rounded and protruded vowels and diphthongs since lip rounding is a visibly marked feature, which cannot be neglected especially in close-ups. The study aims at determining the inaccuracies in lip synchrony of the mentioned phonemic group in the dubbed animated feature film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 from English to Lithuanian. Qualitative and quantitative analysis is carried out by employing a comparative method. The research methodology is based on the theoretical insights and assumptions provided by Frederic Chaume (2004, 2006, 2012), Richard Barsam & Dave Monahan (2010), and Indrė Koverienė (2015). The research findings demonstrate the main issues of lip synchrony a translator might face while adapting a piece of audiovisual material for the target language audience. Also, it provides insights into the quality of the overall translation of the chosen film.

ABSTRACT Objective: The need to quantify pain and quality of life (QoL) is essential for professionals considering their therapeutic approach. The goal of this review is to identify the methods to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of pain and QoL validated in Brazil. Methods: Review by the LILACS, SciELO, MedLine and Google Scholar databases with the descriptors: methods, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, pain and quality of life. Inclusion criteria: articles published in Portuguese and in English in the period from 1996 to 2015. Exclusion criteria: incomplete texts, articles that did not address the subject of study and duplicate articles in the databases. Results: After applying the eligibility criteria, 27 articles were selected for reading, being that one article was excluded by presenting irrelevant result and another was excluded by duplication. From the 25 articles, one was published in 2015, three in 2014, one in 2013, three in 2012, five in 2011, two in 2010, three in 2009, four in 2008, two in 2004 and one in 1996. In relation to the studies, nine were clinical trials, 10 systematic reviews, five cross-sectional studies and one essay. Conclusion The most frequently methods applied are the VAS and the McGill’s Questionnaire, considering the multidimensional pain assessment. The most commonly used questionnaire to evaluate QoL is the SF-36. There is great difficulty to classify methods for assessing pain and QoL (qualitative or quantitative methods), since many authors report the same method when addressing the two interfaces.
