<p>The aim of this study is to build up students’ writing skills through Innovation Teaching Strategy Model (ITSM). This study was conducted in Letters and Culture Faculty of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG), with the students of English and Indonesian department as the participants. The current study is based on the social culture and local wisdom context utilizing Information Computer Technology (ICT). This model supports the students to have a high level of thinking and performance in writing skills in English and Indonesian language. This study utilized Research and Development (R &amp;D) approach using Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Reflection method with the strategy of one group pre-test and post-test design. This study reaches two target achievements; <strong><em>firstly</em></strong> creating the effective innovation teaching strategy model after statistic examining through one group pre-test and post-test design, and <strong><em>secondly </em></strong>improving the students’ competencies and writing skill through learning and teaching process treatment of writing course as an effect of applying Innovation teaching strategy model application.   </p>

The aim of this study is to find out whether or not Quantum Teaching Strategy are effective to help students enhance their writing skills. This study was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Manganitu. The research used quantitative research. Hopefully, this research can be useful to provide information to teachers in teaching and learning activities so that teachers are more creative and know how to improve students' curiosity, to gain students’ interest in learning English in class. The population of this research was the students of SMA Negeri 1 Manganitu and class X that consisting of 20 students was taken as sample. This study used a pre-experimental, pre-test, and post-test design with only one group. The researcher gathered data by asking students to complete a written test firstly also known as pre-test the apllied Quantum Teaching Strategy, secondly delivered with written test also known as post-test. After these activities, the researcher analysed the data by comparing the mean score of pre-test and post-test. The result of post-test score was 64.2 compared to the total mean = 17.85 as the result of pre-test. This meant that Quantum Teaching Strategy was an effective way to improves student’s writing skill in recount text especially in personal recount text. It was recommended to teachers to use Quantum Teaching Strategy in order to maximize students’ capability in learning English.

Writing is a form of an art and integral part of language learning. The present study concerns with development of writing skills through peer and teacher correction technique. As an action research in nature, the research aimed to test the progress of the students while writing an essay. After the analysis of data collected through test items, it was seen improvement in students writing in post test than in pre-test. The students (Ss1-Ss10) were found using the words in an increased order and grammatically correct sentences in their writing in each test made and committed less grammatical errors in post test than in pre and progress test. Regarding mechanics of writing, their writing was found systematic in case of punctuation, proper use of paragraphs, in coherence and cohesion in writing. The peer correction and teacher correction technique was found productive in teaching writing through action research as a whole. This action research attempts to improve teacher’s classroom teaching in developing pupils’ ability to construct simple sentences. Jazz chanting was adapted to teach writing skills and  was used as the intervention. This research aimed to describe the extent the use of jazz chants was able to develop Year 3 pupils’ ability to construct simple sentences effectively. Three research participants  were chosen among year 3 pupils. The participants were purposefully identified as they had encountered difficulties in constructing simple sentences. Three lessons to exploit the intervention were conducted in this research. The data collection methods that were used in this research to gain insights into the effectiveness of the teacher’s teaching strategy were document analysis consisting of worksheets and a pre-test and a post-test, observation and a semi-structured interview with the participants. The research findings revealed that the teaching with the use of the intervention, jazz chanting, was able to positively impact two participants in constructing simple sentences effectively.Meanwhile, triangulation of the various data also indicated that the teaching aided by the intervention failed to have the expected impact on one participant. Discussion of the research findings and conclusion had highlighted the researcher’s pertinent reflection and suggestions for further improvement on the intervention and for future research.

This research aimed to find out whether there was an improvement of the students’ skills in writing recount text after using guiding questions as a technique of writing. The method applied in this research was a quantitative method which use one group pre-test and post-test design. Random group sampling is used as the technique in taking a sample. Afterthat, the researcher took one class consist of 31 of second grade students as research participants. This research was held in 6 meetings involved pre-test, four meetings for treatment, and post-test. The instrument of data collecting was a written test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS v.16 and t-test.

<p>Matriculation a pre-tertiary program offered by Ministry of Education for students who have completed their ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’s’ (SPM) examinations successfully. These excellent students will be required to sit for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) before pursuing their studies in local colleges and universities. MUET comprises all the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. However, matriculation students are still unable to perform well in MUET examination especially the writing component. Researcher aimed to see whether Facebook group discussions can be used as a medium to improve writing skills of students. The main purpose of this study is to look at the effectiveness of Facebook group discussion in writing performance and college students’ perception of using Facebook discussion. This study tested the effect of Facebook discussions by comparing 2 groups of learners (a control group and an experimental group) on writing tasks. The scores of Pre and Post test for both groups will be compared after treatment method of Facebook group discussion on the experimental group. Learners’ attitudes towards the usage of Facebook group discussion and aspects of Facebook that help students to express their opinion. Discussions of the findings will include suggestions on whether Facebook discussions can be used to improve writing performance.</p>

ABSTRACT A newborn baby is a god's divine precious gift given to a mother. Nurses play very crucial role in prevention of newborn hypothermia during the hospitalization of newborn in NICU. To evaluate the effectiveness of PTP on prevention of hypothermia in newborn among mothers was the main objective of the present study. One group pretest, post-test design (pre-experimental) was used. 30 postnatal mothers were selected by nonprobability sampling and pretest questionnaire was administered through structured interview schedule. After PTP 7 days after posttest was conducted on same group. Results were analysed by ‘t’ test. The results revealed that there was statistically significant association between knowledge of mothers and age and religion, and remaining three variables there was no statistical significant association (p < 0.05). The PTP was the best teaching strategy as it enhance the knowledge on prevention of hypothermia.

The background of the study was based on the phenomenon at the seventh graders of the SMP BOPRI Godean. Learning English especially writing skill were still low in mastering vocabulary, sentence structure, and paragraph organizing. The research aimed (1) to analyze the students’ writing by using scaffolding technique; (2) to describe the improvement of the students’ writing skill by using scaffolding technique; and (3) to find out the students’ interests in writing skill by using scaffolding technique. To solve the problem, the researcher conducted Classroom Action Research and applied scaffolding technique in teaching English to improve student’s ability in writing skill. The participants of this research were the 14 students of the seventh graders of SMP BOPKRI Godean. In this study, the researcher conducted a scaffolding technique of teaching writing descriptive text in three cycles by using scaffolding model adapted from Silvia Read. The five steps in scaffolding technique by Silvia Read were inquiry, modeling, shared, collaborative, and independent. The researcherexpected that the students could improve their writing skill by using the scaffolding technique and interested in English writing skill. The result of this study was showed by pre-test and post-test. In pre-test, the students’ average score was 49, whereas in the students’ post-test cycle one, the students’ average score was 64. In the second cycle, the students’ average score was 75.9. Finally, the researcher could conclude that the result of this research showed an improvement of the students’ writing skills by using scaffolding technique.

The present study states in the field of teaching EFL students in the process of writing correct feedback in the classroom, the study was conducted to explore the influence of feedback on the students’ writing skill and language abilities in grammar. 30 student participants enrolled in “Advanced Writing” classes were administered to write a short paragraph of their interested topics for 15 weeks they were given separate note books to write essay, letter and a short paragraph of any instant situation and were also asked to write eight essays throughout the semester. At the beginning semester, students were taken pre-test open-ended questionnaire and at end of the semester were taken post- test, both test involves the students’ method of writing and its benefits of feedback. The obtained data showed that the students’ language abilities significantly improved especially in the grammar and vocabulary. The students also reported their satisfaction in the free-writing method which allowed them to learn more on self-expression and organization of ideas.


By adopting a Dick and Carey model, thepurpose of this study was to develop a multimedia humour model for the teaching of Malay narrative writing and test the effectiveness of the model in the classroom. This study was conducted to a group of 29 students at SekolahMenengahKebangsaan Syed Mashor, Batang Kali, Selangor. The research design was quasi experimental involving single group pre-test and post-test design. Following this design, participants were selected, pre-tested, and exposed to the multimedia video (animation) and then post-tested. The instrument used in this research was the writing test on Malay narrative focusing on cleanliness. Descriptive quantitative analysis was employed on the findings (frequency, percentage and mean) followed by a comparison of pre-test and post-test. The findings show that there were significant differences between the pre and post-test. In the post-test, the mean score for the participants after receiving the intervention were higher than the mean scores for the pre-test. The findings also reveal that the use of visual images (animation), sound and graphic through multimedia video for teaching Malay narrative writing help the students to improve their vocabularies and writing skills. Thus, teachers may also adopt this type of learning approach to attract student’s attention towards the subject and hence, improve their academic performance of a particular subject.

Essay is the most essential part in writing critical essay. It is one of the subjects that learned by English students. CIRC is a method to improve students’ writing ability. Cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) was implemented on students’ writing skill through quasi experimental research; post-test only group design. Sample of the research was thirty nine students. Writing test was used to collect the data and analyzed by using independent t-test. The finding was students who were taught by cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) had better scores of writing critical essay than those who were taught by small group discussion. It meant that CIRC give an effect toward students to improve their writing skill.
