This article is a retrospective ecological study, of descriptive analysis, that evaluates the spatial distribution of Aedes aegypti breeding sites and its correlation with environmental and climate characteristics of the western region of Santa Catarina. Its objective was to analyze the spatial distribution of breeding sites by mapping and correlating with climatic and environmental variables in the period between 2009 and 2017, by mapping breeding sites with Ae. Aegypti larvae by the use of Google Maps, correlating the temperature and precipitation averages. It was found a positive relation between temperature increase and the number of outbreaks, and it also established that the high rainfall averages in this region may influence the spread of the mosquito, but this information could not be confirmed in the present study. It was concluded that the temperature was a determining factor in the dissemination of the vector, being higher than the precipitation variable in the analyzed region.

Introducción. La distribución espacial de Aedes aegypti es heterogénea, y la interacción entre criaderos positivos y potenciales en el intradomicilio y el extradomicilio es uno de los aspectos más difíciles de caracterizar en los programas de control vectorial.Objetivo. Describir la relación espacial entre los criaderos potenciales y positivos de A. aegypti en el intradomicilio y en el extradomicilio en un sector de Cali, Colombia.Materiales y métodos. Se hizo una encuesta entomológica con el objetivo de recolectar datos de los criaderos en el intradomicilio y el extradomicilio. El análisis exploratorio de los datos espaciales incluyó la localización, la tendencia espacial, la autocorrelación espacial local, la continuidad espacial y la correlación espacial de los criaderos positivos y potenciales según el hábitat.Resultados. Se determinaron las tendencias espaciales. Mediante el análisis de autocorrelación espacial local se ubicaron los conglomerados de criaderos potenciales y positivos del extradomicilio. Se encontró una correlación positiva entre los criaderos potenciales y los positivos y una correlación negativa entre el intradomicilio y el extradomicilio.Conclusiones. La relación espacial entre criaderos positivos y potenciales de A. aegypti en el intradomicilio y el extradomicilio es dinámica y muy sensible a las características de cada territorio, por lo que establecer su distribución en el espacio contribuye a la priorización de recursos y acciones en los programas de control vectorial.

O mosquito Aedes aegypti transmite dengue, febre do zika vírus, febre chikungunya e febre amarela. Em Santa Catarina, ocorrências dessas doenças foram registradas nos últimos anos, assim como o aumento dos focos de A. aegypti, principalmente num padrão específico de sazonalidade. Estudos que busquem identificar a ecologia do mosquito em função da diversidade climática no Brasil são fundamentais para melhoria de políticas públicas e para o controle de focos nos municípios. Conduziu-se este trabalho, com o objetivo de avaliar a relação existente entre ocorrência de focos de A. aegypti e variabilidade dos elementos climáticos temperatura e precipitação, no município de Chapecó, durante os anos de 2007 a 2017. Os dados climatológicos foram obtidos pela reanálise MERRA2 (Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications) da NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Os dados dos focos do mosquito foram obtidos da Divisão de Vigilância Epidemiológica de Santa Catarina (DIVE). Os resultados obtidos mostram, para o município de Chapecó, uma relação direta entre a elevação (redução) da temperatura e o aumento (diminuição) dos focos registrados. Também foi identificada uma influência da elevação da temperatura na ocorrência e registro dessa espécie, ao longo dos anos. Com relação à distribuição da precipitação, sugere-se que a chuva bem distribuída no mês que antecede o registro do foco, influencia no desenvolvimento do vetor. Entende-se que as variações climáticas contribuem para o aumento de focos, todavia, as condições socioeconômicas da população e a ação antrópica devem ser contempladas na investigação das influências na proliferação do vetor.  A B S T R A C TThe mosquito Aedes aegypti is the transmitting agent of dengue fever, zika virus and chikungunya fever. In Santa Catarina, occurrences of these diseases have been recorded in recent years, as well as the increase of A. aegypti outbreaks, mainly in a specific pattern of seasonality. Studies that seek to identify mosquito ecology as a function of climatic diversity in Brazil are fundamental for the improvement of public policies and for control of outbreaks in municipalities. The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between occurrence of A. aegypti outbreaks and variability of temperature and precipitation elements in Chapecó between 2007 to 2017. The climatological data were obtained by MERRA2 from NASA. Outbreaks data were obtained from the Epidemiological Surveillance Director. The results show, for Chapecó, a direct relation between flotation of the foci with a cycle marked by the high temperatures and the intermittent precipitation. The favorable temperature range for vector development is between minimum average temperature of 14.8 °C to 19.2 °C and maximum average temperature of 25.5 °C at 29.1 °C. An influence of temperature elevation on the occurrence and record of this species was also identified over the years. Regarding the distribution of precipitation, it is suggested that the precipitation up to 5 mm in the month preceding the focus record influences the development of the vector. Climatic variations contribute to the increase of outbreaks, however, the socioeconomic conditions of the population and anthropic action should be considered.Keywords: Mosquito, climate, reanalysis data.

ABSTRACT : The House index and Container Index in the buffer area of ​​the working area of ​​Balikpapan Sepinggan Airport is still above 1%, so the potential for the spread of dengue disease. Mobilization of people, goods and transportation equipment will increasingly affect the transmission of disease in ports and airports, especially for vector-borne diseases. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with larvae density of Aedes aegypti and describe the larvae index in the buffer zone of the Sepinggan Balikpapan Airport This study was a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study was 121 houses with a proportionate stratified random sampling, the research location was in the buffer zone of Sepinggan Balikpapan Airport in November 2018. The variables studied were houses with positive larvae containers, breeding sites and PSN behavior and larvasidation. The data was analyzed using the chi square test. There was a relationship between houses with larvae positive Aedes aegypti, behavior of Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) and larvasidation with larvae density of Aedes aegypti but not for breeding sites (p = 0.00 and 95% CI = 0.64), and   (p = 0.00 and 95% CI = 0.34). The description of several Aedes aegypti larvae index, namely House Index (HI) = 57.02%, Container Index (CI) = 24.36%, Bruteau Index (BI) = 148.76, and Flick Free Numbers (ABJ) = 42.98 %. Houses with larvae of Aedes aegypti larvae and PSN and larvasidation behavior were associated with larvae density of Aedes aegypti. The index of HI, CI and BI larvae is of high value so there is a risk of DBD transmission

ABSTRACT Objective: to investigate the evolution and estimate the shortage of Speech, Language and Hearing professionals in Primary Health Care between 2005 and 2015. Methods: a mixed ecological study using data from the National Registry of Health Facilities and the Primary Health Care Information System. A descriptive analysis regarding the evolution of the number of professionals working in Primary Health Care over this period, in Brazilian states and regions, was conducted. The ratio of professionals per 100,000 inhabitants for the years 2005, 2010 and 2015, and the shortages in 2015, were estimated. Results: in 2005, there were 1,717 professionals working in Primary Health Care, that is, one per 100,000 inhabitants. In 2015, there were 4,124, increasing to 2.1/100,000. In 2015, the shortage in supply was 55.1%, varying widely across the states. Conclusion: the shortage in supply is equivalent to an absence of Speech, Language and Hearing service coverage within Primary Health Care for more than half of the Brazilian population. It is worth noting that a conservative parameter was adopted to conduct this estimate. The results suggest a process of consolidation for the inclusion of Speech, Language and Hearing professionals within Primary Health Care, however, still characterized by insufficient and unequal supply across the nation.

The spatial distribution of hosts can be a determining factor in the reproductive success of parasites. Highly aggregated hosts may offer more opportunities for reproduction but can have better defences than isolated hosts. Here we connect macro- and micro-evolutionary processes to understand the link between host density and parasitism, using avian brood parasites as a model system. We analyse data across more than 200 host species using phylogenetic comparative analyses and quantify parasitism rate and host reproductive success in relation to spatial distribution using field data collected on one host species over 6 years. Our comparative analysis reveals that hosts occurring at intermediate densities are more likely to be parasitized than colonial or widely dispersed hosts. Correspondingly, our intraspecific field data show that individuals living at moderate densities experience higher parasitism rates than individuals at either low or high densities. Moreover, we show for the first time that the effect of host density on host reproductive success varies according to the intensity of parasitism; hosts have greater reproductive success when living at high densities if parasitism rates are high, but fare better at low densities when parasitism rates are low. We provide the first evidence of the trade-off between host density and parasitism at both macro- and micro-evolutionary scales in brood parasites. Kabupaten Bantul meraih prestasi tingkat nasional di tahun 2008 yakni memperoleh penghargaan dalam KPPOD Award. Penghargaan yang diperoleh menjadi awal yang baik bagi Kabupaten Bantul dalam memperbaiki iklim penanaman modal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis distribusi keruangan penanaman modal dan pengaruh karakteristik wilayah terhadap pemilihan lokasi penanaman modal. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif, analisis tetangga terdekat, dan analisis regresi berganda. Berdasarkan hasil kajian dapat disimpulkan bahwa distribusi keruangan penanaman modal di Kabupaten Bantul terdistribusi di 10 kecamatan, sedangkan 7 kecamatan lainnya belum menjadi destinasi penanaman modal. Untuk lokasi perusahaan penanaman modal membentuk pola dispersed atau merata dengan nilai R sebesar 5,920887 (R>1). Sebagian dari lokasi penanaman modal berada di tepi jalan raya. Pemilihan lokasi penanaman modal di Kabupaten Bantul dipengaruhi oleh faktor daya tarik karakteristik wilayah seperti pertumbuhan ekonomi dan jumlah objek wisata. Bantul Regency won the national award of KPPOD in 2008. That award was a good commencement to improve Bantul Regency’s investment climate. The aims of this research were to identify and analyse the spatial distribution of investment and the effect of regional characteristics on the selection of investment site. The analytical techniques used in the research are descriptive analysis, nearest neighbour analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that distribution of investment in Bantul Regency distributed in 10 sub-districts, while 7 others are not yet be destination of investment. For the location of investment firms forms a dispersed pattern with R value 5,920887 (R>1). Some investment firm are located on the edge of highway. The selection of investment sites in Bantul regency is affected by the attraction factors of the region characteristics such as economic growth and number of tourism objects.

AbstractBackgroundVector-borne diseases are a major cause of disease burden in Guayaquil, Ecuador, especially arboviruses spread by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Understanding which household characteristics and risk factors lead to higher Ae. aegypti densities and consequent disease risk can help inform and optimize vector control programs.MethodsCross-sectional entomological surveys were conducted in Guayaquil between 2013 and 2016, covering household demographics, municipal services, potential breeding containers, presence of Ae. aegypti larvae and pupae, and history of using mosquito control methods. A zero-truncated negative binomial regression model was fitted to data for estimating the household pupal index. An additional model assessed the factors of the most productive breeding sites across all of the households.ResultsOf surveyed households, 610 satisfied inclusion criteria. The final household-level model found that collection of large solid items (e.g., furniture and tires) and rainfall the week of and 2 weeks before collection were negatively correlated with average pupae per container, while bed canopy use, unemployment, container water volume, and the interaction between large solid collection and rainfall 2 weeks before the sampling event were positively correlated. Selection of these variables across other top candidate models with ΔAICc < 1 was robust, with the strongest effects from large solid collection and bed canopy use. The final container-level model explaining the characteristics of breeding sites found that contaminated water is positively correlated with Ae. aegypti pupae counts while breeding sites composed of car parts, furniture, sewerage parts, vases, ceramic material, glass material, metal material, and plastic material were all negatively correlated.ConclusionHaving access to municipal services like bulky item pickup was effective at reducing mosquito proliferation in households. Association of bed canopy use with higher mosquito densities is unexpected, and may be a consequence of large local mosquito populations or due to limited use or effectiveness of other vector control methods. The impact of rainfall on mosquito density is multifaceted, as it may both create new habitat and “wash out” existing habitat. Providing services and social/technical interventions focused on monitoring and eliminating productive breeding sites is important for reducing aquatic-stage mosquito densities in households at risk for Ae. aegypti-transmitted diseases.

Abstract Particulate matter is one of the threatening pollutants harmful to health. Currently, many researchers focus on the problem of PM2.5 concentrations in urban areas. This study aims to estimate the spatial distribution of PM2.5, and identify human behavior on air pollution in Jakarta. The method used were Spline with Tension to build the PM2.5 models, and multiple linear regression models to analyze human behavior on air pollution. The results showed that the annual average of PM2.5 in the last two years tends to be high in western, southern, and eastern parts of Jakarta. In addition, there was a decrease of PM2.5 concentration in 2020 compared to 2019 assumed as a result of Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions. Besides, analysis results showed a significant association between knowledge and attitude aspects on the action aspect. Based on descriptive analysis, people have good knowledge of air pollution and also concern to reduce air pollution. However, the actions for air pollution control are still not maximized which may cause high PM2.5 concentrations in Jakarta. We conclude that to reduce air pollution, the government should focus on the border areas of Jakarta and it can be done by increasing public knowledge and raising awareness for air pollution.
