Rice is a plant that has been intensively breed, especially in Asia, most of the population’s staple food is rice. There were Many types of rice varieties have been developed for high yeald production. Different rice diseases arise that many treat to reduce production. Such as curvularia spotting disease caused by the fungus Curvularia sp. Infection of Curvularia species causing leaf spots, leaf blights, kernel root, grain deformation and other diseases are well known globally. It was discovered that the small brown oval spots on the Ciherang rice variety cultivated in Bali, Indonesia was caused by Curvularia verruculosa. This disease could reduce the rice yield up to almost 50%. The application of commercial fungicide by the local farmers has not been satisfactorily successful in term of controlling the disease but instead bring damages to the environment and the soil as well. Farmer’s safety is also another serious issue. The current studi develop a natural and green fungicide to check the efficacy of Piper caninum extract against the fungi. Research in the laboratory uses a completely randomized design and research in the field uses a randomized group design.The method of making leaf extracts uses maceration method. Diffusion well technique showed a strong inhibition of the abstract against the C. verruculosa with 22mm inhibition. Zone with a total inhibition of 4% extract concentration. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was low of 0.5%. Scanning electron images of the treated fungi showed hollow and wrinkled mycelia morphology indicating lysis of the cell has occurred. P. caninum leaf extract at a concentration of 3% provides the highest obstacle to the intensity of C. verruculosa disease, whereas in the treatment of leaf extract concentration p. caninum 4% intensity of C. verrucuosa disease has decreased because rice plants are toxic at a concentration of 4%. Further research is needed regarding the treatment of P. caninum leaf extract against C. verruculosa in rice fields.

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektifitas ekstrak daun sirsak dan daun gamal sebagai pengendali hama walang sangit  pada tanaman padi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 2 perlakuan yaitu jenis ekstrak dan konsentrasi ekstrak. Perlakuan 1 yaitu jenis ekstrak daun (A): sirsak (A1) dan gamal (A2), perlakuan 2 yaitu konsentrasi ekstrak (K): Kontrol (K0), 5% (K1), 10% (K2), 15% (K3), dan 20% (K4). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun sirsak efektif terhadap mortalitas walang sangit tertinggi pada konsentrasi 20% (83%) dan yang terendah pada konsentrasi 0% (0 %). Ekstrak daun gamal juga efektif terhadap mortalitas walang sangit tertinggi pada konsentrasi 20% (74%) dan yang terendah pada konsentrasi 0% (0%). Waktu kematian pada hari pertama setelah aplikasi dengan rata-rata mortalitas tertinggi berada pada perlakuan ekstrak daun sirsak 20% (30%) dan daun gamal 20% (28%) dan terendah berada pada perlakuan ekstrak daun sirsak 0% (0%) dan daun gamal 0 % (0%). Kata kunci: daun gamal, daun sirsak, tanaman padi, walang sangit Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of soursop leaf extract and gliricidia leaves as pest control of walang rice (L. acuta) in the rice plants. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 treatments, i.e. extract type and extract concentration. The treatment of extract type (A) were soursop (A1) and Gamal (A2), whereas the treatment  of extract concentration (K) were control (K0), 5% (K1), 10% (K2), 15% (K3), and 20% (K4). The results showed that the soursop leaf extract was effective to control sangit walang with the highest mortality was in the concentration of 20% (83%) and the lowest was in the concentration of 0% (0%). Gliricidia leaf extract was also effective to control sangit walang with the highest mortality in the concentration of 20% (74%) and the lowest was in the concentration of 0% (0%). The mortality time was on the first day of the application with the average highest mortality was in the treatment of 20% soursop leaf extract  (30%)and 20% gliricidia leaves (28%) respectively. The lowest mortality was in the treatment of 0% soursop leaf extract (0%) and 0% gliricidia leaves (0%).Keywords: gliricidia leaves, rice plant, soursop leaves, walang rice pest

Callosobruchus Chinensis is a pest that damages mung bean seeds in storage and causes damage to both the quality and quantity of seeds. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of neem leaf extracts in suppressing the development of the Callosobruchus Chinensis pest as one of the postharvest pests in the commodity green beans. This research conducted at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Flores, by using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The concentration of neem leaf extract treatment is 0 ml / l, 25 ml / l, 30 ml / l, 35 ml / l, and 40 ml / l. The results showed that the concentration of neem leaf extract 40 ml / l caused mortality of C. Chinensis imago as contact poison by 99% and nerve poison by 47%. While the effectiveness of the limb leaf extract on spawning activity was 86%.

Background: The current type of nanoparticle that attracts a lot of attention in the pharmaceutical field is Nanosilver because it can act as an antimicrobial. Objective: The aim of this study was to obtain the Nanosilver gel preparation from katuk leaf extract, which is effective as an antibacterial agent against acne. Methods: Katuk leaf extract remains as a reducing agent in the synthesis of Nanosilver using a green synthesis method. Nanosilver characterization was performed using PSA, FTIR and TEM. Results: Particle size of Nanosilver (Katuk leaf extract concentration 0.16% with a silver nitrate volume of 10 mM is 1: 9) of 164.40 nm, Nanosilver (Katuk leaf extract Concentration 0.32% with silver nitrate volume 10 mM is 1: 9) of 176.47 nm and Nanosilver (0.48% katuk leaf extract concentration with a volume of 10 mM silver nitrate of 1: 9) of 194.95 nm. Antibacterial activity using the Well method was shown that the nanosilver gel from Katuk leaf extract had an inhibitory effect on P. acnes bacteria with an inhibition zone of 26 mm  classified as very strong, and 12 mm was strongly categorized against S. aureus bacteria, namely in Formula 1. Conclusion: A variation in the concentration of katuk leaf extract influences the size of the particles formed. the Nanosilver katuk leaf extract has an antibacterial cause for acne with a very strong category.

A study was carried out to screen for phytochemical constituents and assess the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Senna alata and Senna tora leaf extracts. The leaves were first dried at room temperature and 50°C in an oven prior to solvent extraction using ethanol and methanol. The in-vitro qualitative assays showed that both S. alata and S. tora leaf extracts contained bioactive and secondary metabolites components such as tannins, steroids, saponin, terpenoids, glycosides, flavonoids and phenols. The antioxidant activity and capacity test were carried out by conducting free radical of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity and Ferric reduction antioxidant plasma (FRAP) assays. Both assays showed S. tora leaf extract has higher antioxidant capacity than S. alata leaf extract. The efficacy of these leaf extracts were tested against skin pathogens through agar well diffusion method. S. alata extract showed an inhibition zone (1.15 – 1.59 mm) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa while S. tora extracts exhibited a strong antimicrobial activity against S. epidermidis (inhibition zone of 12 – 16.94 mm) followed by P. aeruginosa (inhibition zone of 1 – 1.59 mm). Nonetheless, no inhibition zone was observed for S. aureus by both leaf extracts. The phytochemicals and antioxidant constituents as well as inhibitory potential on skin pathogens possessed by S. alata and S. tora leave highlighted their potential utilization in the development of natural drugs or cosmetics to treat skin related diseases or infections.

The use of antimicrobials from plant extracts has not been used optimally to control pathogenic agents in dragon fruit plants. The purpose of this research was to determine the antimicrobial activity of zodia (Evodia suaveolens) leaf extracts on pathogenic agents of dragon fruit plants in vitro. The research method is laboratory research with Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The antimicrobial concentrations of zodia (E. suaveolens) leaf extract used six types including 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% with four replications. The research sample was the leaf of zodia (E. suaveolens), Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Fusarium oxysporum strain Malang. Test the antimicrobial activity of zodia (E. suaveolens) leaf extracts on the growth of P. aeruginosa and F. oxysporum using the disc-diffusion method and wells method. The research instrument was used the observation sheet of the diameter of inhibition zone indicated by the clear zone. The diameter of inhibition zone data were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test. The results showed that the antimicrobial activity of zodia (E. suaveolens) leaf extract significantly inhibited the growth of P. aeruginosa and F. oxysporum (P <0.05). These results recommend zodia (E. suaveolens) leaf extract as an antimicrobial agent for dragon fruit plant pathogens.

Introduction: Endodontic treatment failure can be caused by the bacterium E. faecalis, which has a prevalence of up to 90%. E. faecalis is difficult to eradicate because it forms a biofilm to defend itself against antibacterial agents. Lime leaves are one of the many herbal products available in Indonesia (Citrus hystrix DC). Lime leaf extracts include antibacterial components such as essential oils, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of lime leaf extract against E. faecalis bacterium. Material and Methods:The agar diffusion technique was used for four experimental groups, using lime leaf extract at 4% (group 1), 8% (group 2), and 16% (group 3) as the negative control. Each group was repeated six times on Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) medium with a paper disc, and the diameter of the inhibitory zone was measured with a caliper. Results and Discussions: The results revealed that a 4 % concentration of lime leaf extract had an average inhibition zone diameter of 7.31 mm, an 8 % concentration had an average inhibition zone diameter of 8.59 mm, and a 16 % concentration had an average inhibition zone diameter of 11.41 mm. The difference in the inhibition zone was statistically significant (p= 0,000) evaluated using the one-way ANOVA. Conclusion: It can be concluded that lime leaf extract is antibacterial potential against E. faecalis bacteria in the endodontic treatment.

Research about the inhibitory test of Syzygium aromaticum leaf extract on the growth of Shigella dysenteriae bacteria which aims to determine the effectiveness of S. aromaticum leaf extract in inhibited the growth of S. dysenteriae bacteria, knowing the concentration of leaf extract is effective in inhibited the growth of S. dysenteriae bacteria and the content of flavonoid compounds, saponins, tannins and alkaloids contained in leaves S. aromaticum, has been conducted from July until December 2016. Extraction method used is Maseration method. Inhibitory test extract on S. dysenteriae bacteria using disc diffusion method. This research was arranged in Completely Randomized Design with 6 treatments and 3 repetitions with extract concentration 30%, 45%, 60% and 75% and 2% Cotrimoxazole antibiotics as positive controls and Aquades as negative controls. The results showed that 75% extract concentration of S. aromaticum plant produced the largest drag zone compared to other concentrations of 17 mm. This indicates that S. aromaticum leaf extract has good inhibitory ability against S. dysenteriae bacteria.

The use of chemical fertilizers to improve soil fertility, and hence, crop yield, have been reported to have adverse effects on agricultural products, man and his environment, hence, this research looked into the growth and yield response of foliar application with Moringa oleifera leaf extract on Okro. Different concentrations of Moringa leaf extracts at the rate of 5ml, 15ml and 25ml was assessed on the growth and yield of Okro using topsoil as the growing medium. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Growth and yield parameters were collected on plant height, number of leaves per plant, number of fruits per plant, and length of fruit per plant. Parameters measured were subjected to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and means were separated using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% probability level. The results showed that the treatment with 25ml concentration has a more significant effect than others on Okro. Therefore, treatment with 25ml performed better than the other two treatments in the study area. Hence, this study recommends the foliar application of Moringa extract to farmers for improved yield and production of Okro.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the bioactivity of ethanolic leaf extracts from four species of the genus Piper against the tomato leafminer Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) under laboratory conditions. The evaluated species were: P. amalago var. medium, P. glabratum, P. mikanianum, and P. mollicomum. In the initial screening assay (extract concentration of 2,000 mg L-1), all tested extracts caused significant larval mortality, particularly the extract of P. amalago var. medium; however, no extracts reduced the weight of the surviving larvae. The extract from P. amalago var. medium at the concentration of 1,011 mg L-1 caused a significant lengthening of the larval and pupal stages. The ethanolic leaf extract of P. amalago var. medium is promising for the control of T. absoluta larvae in tomato, since it exhibits acute toxicity toward these caterpillars at the concentration of 2,000 mg L-1 and affects the insect's development by reducing its survival and lengthening the larval and pupal stages.

Fish that are high in protein content are prone to quality degradation. This is strongly thought to be due to the influence of microbes that are inside or outside the fish's body. The use of formalin for food preservatives is not recommended because it can interfere with health. In Indonesia, there are many natural preservatives that are safer to use, such as Murayya koenigii L. Spreng which is rich in antioxidants and has antibacterial properties. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of M. koenigii leaf extract as an inhibitor of bacterial growth in Oreochromis. niloticus fish meat and to measure the maximum concentration of M. koenigii leaf extract. The study used a completely randomized design method (RAL) with one factor, namely the concentration of temurui leaf extract (Murayya koenigii L. Spreng) which consisted of concentrations of 0, 10, 20, 40% (g / mL). The data were taken on storage time, namely 0 days, 1 day, 2 days, and 3 days. The observation parameter used was the inhibition zone diameter (mm) which was analyzed using one way ANOVA. The results showed that temurui leaves have the potential to be used as an inhibitor of microbial growth in O. niloticus fish meat at a concentration of 40% (g / mL) which is the maximum concentration.
