Introduction: Endodontic treatment failure can be caused by the bacterium E. faecalis, which has a prevalence of up to 90%. E. faecalis is difficult to eradicate because it forms a biofilm to defend itself against antibacterial agents. Lime leaves are one of the many herbal products available in Indonesia (Citrus hystrix DC). Lime leaf extracts include antibacterial components such as essential oils, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of lime leaf extract against E. faecalis bacterium. Material and Methods:The agar diffusion technique was used for four experimental groups, using lime leaf extract at 4% (group 1), 8% (group 2), and 16% (group 3) as the negative control. Each group was repeated six times on Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) medium with a paper disc, and the diameter of the inhibitory zone was measured with a caliper. Results and Discussions: The results revealed that a 4 % concentration of lime leaf extract had an average inhibition zone diameter of 7.31 mm, an 8 % concentration had an average inhibition zone diameter of 8.59 mm, and a 16 % concentration had an average inhibition zone diameter of 11.41 mm. The difference in the inhibition zone was statistically significant (p= 0,000) evaluated using the one-way ANOVA. Conclusion: It can be concluded that lime leaf extract is antibacterial potential against E. faecalis bacteria in the endodontic treatment.

Racun ayam is one of the plants which has several activities in its fruits, one of which is an antibacterial. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of racun ayam leaves. The extraction was done by maceration method using ethanol as a solvent. Antibacterial activity assay was carried out on S. aureus, E. coli, and P. aeruginosa bacteria by disk diffusion method at the concentrations of 80, 100, and 120 ppm. The results showed that the ethanol extract of B. javanica leaves had the greatest inhibition zone on E. coli with inhibition zone diameter values at 80, 100, and 120 ppm were 11.7 mm, 14.5 mm and 19.67 mm respectively. Inhibition zones in S. aureus could only be seen at 100 and 120 ppm which had inhibition zone diameters at 1.17 mm and 2.17 mm respectively, whereas in P. aeruginosa they did not have any inhibitory zone values. The results of statistical analysis showed a significance of the inhibition zone diameter values of E. coli bacteria starting at 80 ppm with a sig value of 0.034. Due to a sig value was <0.05, it was categorized as significantly different from the negative control. The bacteria of S. aureus which had <0.05 for sig values only found on 100 ppm and 120 ppm. Bacteria P. aeruginosa which had sig value >0.05 was not significantly different at all concentrations

Effort to control DHF (Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever) vectors without toxic substances by using natural and enviromentally friendly materials was natural repellent made using plants that were widely available in the community. Many types of plants contain  various secondary metabolite compound substances that have the potential to be used as natural insecticides, especially as repellent of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The research needs  to be done to determine the effectiveness of basil leaves, citronella leaves, clove leaves and betel leaves as a repellent against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. This research method was an experiment in the laboratory. The materials used for this research were basil leaves, citronella leaves, clove leaves, and betel leaves. The extracted leaves were then made lotions with certain formulas, tested as a natural repellent against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. The concentrations used were 20%, 40% and 80% as well as negative control (0%) and positive control (brand x lotions). The number of mosquitoes used in the study were 25 x 4 treatments = 100 mosquitoes. The replication or repetition was done 10 times. To find out the difference in the number of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes that perch on the hands of probandus which has been smeared with basil leaf, citronella leaf, clove leaf and betel leaf extracts uses Anova Statistical tests and kruskal wallis. To see the difference between concentrations was tested with LSD or Mann-Whitney test. The calculation result of the number of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes that perch before and after applying the lotion, the lowest was the lotion of citronella leaf extract 0% (11); 20% (2); 40% (1); 80% (1); The highest protection capacity of extract lotion is citronella leaves with concetrations of 20% (81,1%); 40% (95%), 80%(98,2%); There were no significant differences between the lotion concentrations of 20% and 80%, while the concentration of 40% is significantly different. Then the LSD follow-up test finds that the protective capacity of lotion of clove leaf extract is negative and citronella leaf extract is positive. The most effective protection capacity against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes was lotion of citronella leaf extract with concentration of 40% (95%) and a concentration of 80% (98,2%), proven by the value of protection capacity that is stable even though it has been used for up to 6 hours and can exceed the protection capacity of lotion x (90,3%). It is reccomended that further research needs to be developed to optimize the lotion of citronella leaf extract 40% and 80% with orgonolaptic test of color, aroma, stickness and comfort of its use.

The failure of a root canal treatment can be caused by the facultative anaerobic bacteria Enterococcus faecalis, which should be eliminated throughout root canal irrigation. Chlorhexidine 2% is a popular antibacterial liquid used in root canal irrigation. Natural substances can also be used to make antibacterial irrigation liquids. One natural substance with antibacterial properties is lerak fruit extract (Sapindus rarak DC), containing 28 per cent of saponins, alkaloid compounds, polyphenols, antioxidant chemicals, and flavonoid groups and tannins. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of 25% lerak fruit extract (Sapindus rarak DC) against E. faecalis compared to 2% Chlorhexidine. This study is a pure experimental study using the agar diffusion method against three experimental groups chlorhexidine 2% as a positive control, lerak fruit extract (Sapindus rarak DC) as a treatment group, and aquadest as a negative control. Each group was repeated ten times on Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) media which was applied using a paper disc. Then the diameter of the inhibition zone was calculated using a caliper. The results in this study, 25% lerak (Sapindus rarak DC) fruit extract had an average inhibition zone diameter of 11.775 mm, and an average inhibition zone diameter of 2% chlorhexidine was 19.745 mm. The difference in the diameter of the inhibition zone was significantly different in all groups. Conclusion ethanol extract of lerak fruit (Sapindus rarak DC) 25% can inhibit the growth of E. faecalis and can be used as an alternative to other antimicrobial agents as disinfection of root canal irrigation.

This research aims to determine the inhibition and effectiveness of using miana leaf extract against the growth of E. coli bacteria that causes diarrhea. This study uses experimental research with samples of miana leaves extracted and E. coli bacteria and then uses the Kruskal-Wallis test with Mann-Whitney analysis to test the hypothesis. The results showed differences in the inhibition between miana leaves extract concentrations of 15%, 30%, 50%, and 90% of the growth of E. coli bacteria with Asymp values. Sig = 0.017. The most effective concentration of miana leaf extract in influencing E. coli bacteria was an extract concentration of 90% with an inhibition zone diameter of 31.27 mm. There was a significant difference in the inhibition between miana leaf extract (Coleus scutellarioides (L) Benth) on the growth of E. coli bacteria at 12, 15 & 18 hours, 20 hours, and 24 hours, with Asymp values. Sig = 0.000. Results an increase in the inhibition zone, and the highest inhibition occurred during the 24 hours, namely at a very strong 90% extract concentration. This finding proves that the compounds contained in miana leaf extract can inhibit the growth of E. coli bacteria. This finding has implications for refill drinking water managers to utilize miana leaf extract to avoid E. coli bacteria as the main cause of diarrhea.
