Currently, the implementation of innovative non-invasive methods for controlling the state of the human organism under stress conditions is highly actual. Long-time intellectual burdens lead to the chronic stress and may result in the exhaustion of antioxidant system. The aim of the research is to study the characteristics of the antioxidant status in saliva under the conditions of intensive intellectual activities. In order to carry out the experiment, we collected the cohort of 123students aged from 20 to 22 years of the second and third years of the V.F.Voino-Yasenetsky Krasnoyarsk State Medical University. The examined materials, namely saliva, had been taken by direct spitting into test-tubes. Saliva was collected twice: firstly background sampling had been taken during the course of regular classes when the students were supposed to be in the state of emotional balance; secondly, the test sampling had been made in the time of examination session characterized by considerable intellectual burdens. We carried out questionnaire survey for the students using Spielberger-Hanin and Nemchin-Taylor tests. With the help of these tests, we determined the situational and personal anxiety as well as the predisposition to stress development. Antioxidant status was evaluated by Н2О2-luminol-dependent chemiluminescence technique. Chemiluminescent tests were performed by tablet luminometer TriStar LB 941, (made by Berthold). We had proved the existence of the association between the antioxidant status of saliva and the state of intellectual tension. We have noted that during a session in a group with the high level of uneasiness indices have grown, in a group with the low level of uneasiness they have decreased. We can suppose that in the time of examination sessions there is an increase in the common level of anxiety under the lowering of antioxidant activity. In intellectual stress, the antioxidant system performs the interception of radicals less intensively, because the speed of active forms of oxygen (AFO) neutralization is decreased. So, under the conditions of intensive intellectual activities, the degradation of antioxidant protection is observed. It is caused, supposedly, by the lowering of the activity of the enzymes of peroxidase protection. The pro-oxidant system also works less efficiently. This is confirmed by the decline of such markers of CL-fluorescence as maximum intensity, amplitude and light sum, which showed AFO number.

Objective: We determined the features of psychoemotional condition of the children who wereunder quarantine restrictions for COVID-19pandemic for a long time. Methods and scope of research:We carried out the assessment of the psychoemotional condition of 52 adolescents who were in quarantine forCOVID-19 pandemic. The number of girls and boys among the surveyed was the same - 26 children of each gender. A "non-existent animal" projective test was used to assess the psychoemotional sphere of the children. We appliedthe psychometric method by Ch.D. Spielberg, Yu.L. Haninto determine the reactive anxiety (RА) and personal anxiety (PA). The questionnaire by A. Bass, A. Darki was used to single out the various aspects of the symptom complex of aggression and to calculate the index of aggression (IA) and the index of hostility (IH). Sleep quality was assessed with the help of the Pittsburgh Questionnaire. Results and discussion: Assessment of the psychoemotional condition of the children, who were in quarantine for COVID-19, showed the significant violationsin the majority of them (95.15%), which were characterized by the manifestations of anxiety (78.85%), aggression (59.62%) and exhaustion (15.38%). A high level of anxiety was found to be more often in the girls (25.00%), while in the boys, it was registered almost 2 times less (11.54%), and on the contrary, a high level of aggression in the combination with anxiety orwithout itwas determined more often in the boys (26.92%) than in the girls (13.46%). The frequency of exhaustionsymptom complex did not depend on gender. A more detailed description of the level of anxiety, performed with the help of psychometric methods Ch.D. Spielberg, Yu.L. Hanin, confirmed that the high levels of both personal and reactive anxiety were more inhering in the girls. Assessment ofthe forms of aggressive behavior showed that the manifestations of physical aggression and negativism were the most typical features for the boys, while the indirect aggression, resentment and guilt were observed in the girls more often. Thehighlevels of IA werefoundtooccur almost 3 times more oftenin theboys than in thegirls, whilethehighlevel of IH wasdetected equally often both inthegirls and intheboys. In the children who were in quarantine for COVID-19, psychoemotional conditions were often accompanied by sleep disorders, at the same time, they were observed more often in the girls than in the boys.

Objective: to assess the state of the pro-oxidant/antioxidant system in children with hereditary spherocytosis (HS) depending on its severity.Material and methods. The study involved 44 HS patients at the age from 1 to 17 who were divided into 2 groups depending on the disease severity: mild course (n = 24) and moderate or severe course (n = 20). The control group included 23 practically healthy children who were comparable with the main group by gender and age. The state of the pro-oxidant/antioxidant balance of blood plasma was assessed by the method of luminol-dependent chemiluminescence (LDCL) with the determination of the maximum luminescence intensity (Imax, %) and the light sum of chemiluminescence (S, %). The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase was determined in the erythrocytes of the examined children.Results. On average, the parameters of the pro-oxidant/antioxidant status in the HS patients significantly differed from those of the control group (p <0.05), which corresponded to moderately pronounced oxidative stress. The activity of SOD and catalase in the erythrocytes of the patients was higher as compared with that of the control group (p = 0.0001 and p <0.0001, respectively). The comparison of the severity of oxidative stress depending on HS severity has determined that the degree of stress was more pronounced in patients with moderate or severe course of the disease (p <0.05).Conclusion. HS patients develop oxidative stress (decreased activity of the antioxidant system associated with increased accumulation of prooxidant substances), the degree of which is higher in patients with a severe course of the disease. This allows of considering plasma LDCL indicators as an additional marker for the assessment of the severity of the disease and of justifying the necessity to include antioxidants in the HS treatment regimen.

According to the results of epidemiological studies, the spread of periodontal tissue diseases has tendency to increase, despite recent decades’ significant achievements in dentistry. Studies of periodontal tissue diseases pathogenesis have found that oxygen-dependent production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidant activity are involved in the pathogenic mechanism of the disease. ROS are highly toxic and can induce lipid peroxidation (LPO). Researchers have shown increased levels of LPO with generalized periodontitis (GP). "Noofen" is one of the drugs that normalizes the processes of LPO and shows positive effect in GP treatment. That is why in advanced complex treatment of generalized periodontitis of initial-I stage, we’ve used this pill. The objective of the study was to analyze the efficiency of nootropic medicine "Noofen" usage in suggested initial-I stage of generalized periodontitis treatment, taking into account the dynamics of oral fluid prooxidant and antioxidant indicators among students with high level of emotional sensitivity. Materials and methods. A study of 2nd year students (174) of Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University were questioned in order to determine the level of individual emotional states (anxiety, frustration, aggression and rigidity) according to the method of H. Eysenck. Of those who have experienced increased and high level of emotional sensitivity to various stressors and situations, we have selected 50 students with initial-I stage of generalized periodontitis. To determine the efficiency of treatment, two groups were formed: observation (group I) and comparison (group II). Each group consisted of 25 individuals who were treated and monitored dynamically during the year. The condition of oral cavity prooxidant system was determined by the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) and diene conjugates (DC). To study the state of the antioxidant protection system, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione-S-transferase (G-ST) and glutathione peroxidase (GPO) were determined. The advanced treatment, which included oral rinsing with "Octenisept" solution, dissolving of tablets "Lizak", intake of  medicine "Noofen" and vitamin-microelement complex "Vita-Supradin Active". Conclusions. The results of the performed treatment indicate that the use of advanced therapy of GP is significantly more effective, confirmed by prooxidant-antioxidant system parameters of oral fluid in the long term, compared with traditional treatment.

The cross—sectional study included 194 senior students of a medical university, of which 156 were women and 38 were men. To judge the frequency and severity of the course of PD and IBS, the 7x7 questionnaire was used. A set of psychodiagnostic questionnaires included: an integrative anxiety test; a scale for psychological express—diagnostics of the level of neurotization; the methodology of the Strategy of coping behavior. The psychological characteristics of the examined men with PD and IBS were characterized by a predominance of subscales of personal anxiety (“emotional discomfort”, “asthenic component”, “phobic component”, “anxious assessment of perspective”). In the repertoire of strategies coping with stress, coping “acceptance of responsibility” and, on the contrary, less often “planning of solving a problem” was much more common. The women with the presence of PD and IBS, along with exceeding the general level of personal anxiety often have subscales such as “emotional discomfort”, “phobic component”, “anxious assessment of perspective”. Among the prevailing coping strategies noted “distance”, “the search for social support”, “acceptance of responsibility”, “fl ight—avoidance”. In addition, the female “cohort” with PD and IBS, in contrast to the male, was characterized by a significantly high level of neuroticism.

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between the level of anxiety with periodontal tissue lesions in undergraduate students at a medical university. Observations were performed by medical students of the second year of study. There was used H. Ayzenko’s questionnaire to determine the level of personal anxiety. The evaluation of the condition of periodontal tissues was performed using the appropriate indexes: the papillary-marginal-alveolar index, the periodontal index, the Schiller-Pisarev’s  test (Svrakov’s iodine number), and sulcus bleeding index. The results of the study showed a direct dependence of the manifestation of periodontal tissue diseases on the level of psycho-emotional stress. Analyzing the PMA index it was noted that the higher level of anxiety, the higher number of this index and, accordingly, the more distinct signs of inflammation are clear: with low level – 4.63±2.58%, with an average level – 28.42±1.29% and at a high level – 41.6±2.46%. The quantitative significance of the periodontal index also depends on the degree of anxiety in the students: the lowest rate was in the students of group І with a low level of anxiety (0.15±0.08); the indices of groups ІІ and ІІІ are 0.97±0.04 and 1.35±0.07 respectively. The Schiller-Pisarev’s test showed that the higher anxiety level of students has the higher number of this index. Analyzing the data of index of gum’s bleeding, there was observed an increase in it, depending on the degree of anxiety (p<0.001).

Abstract The Slovenian economy appeared on the brink of bankruptcy at the end of 2013. The situation was caused by high level of classified debts in state-owned banks. This can be seen as surprising because Slovenia used to be (for a long time) considered as a (textbook) example of the gradualist transformation approach. The goal of this article is first to describe the transformation process in the country and consequently to determine causes of the economic problems that resulted in the 2013 crisis. The article concludes that the economic problems were rooted already in the specific functioning of the centrally planned system in Yugoslavia. These specifics had a direct influence on the transformation process in the country and stood behind the application of gradualism. Among the most telling features of gradualism were slow privatization, cold attitude towards foreign investment and the foremost lasting casual economic environment caused by behaviour of the state-owned banks. My conclusion is that the country’s economic problems can be ascribed to gradualism and that they are a clear example of the path dependence development.

Introduction. A healthy lifestyle is one of the most eff ective methods of preserving health and preventing non-infectious diseases. The mechanisms and factors that infl uence the formation of motivation for health and a healthy lifestyle in employees engaged in harmful working conditions have not been suffi ciently studied. The study of these mechanisms will allow us to more eff ectively shape health-saving behavior. The aim of the study is to study negative aff ectivity, social suppression and anxiety in the formation of motivation to maintain health and a healthy lifestyle in coal industry workers.Materials and methods. A survey was conducted of 75 employees of mines and sections in the South of Kuzbass with an established diagnosis of occupational diseases, as well as 54 people who do not work in harmful working conditions (engineering and technical workers). Surveys were conducted using the method “Index of motivation to health and a healthy lifestyle”, the presence of personality type D was conducted using the DS14 questionnaire, the level of personal and situational anxiety was assessed using the Spielberger — Hanin questionnaire.Results. Th e level of motivation for health and a healthy lifestyle among patients with occupational diseases is signifi cantly lower than the level of motivation for the health of engineering and technical workers. Th e infl uence of negative reaction and social suppression on the level of motivation for health and a healthy lifestyle was not found. Th e level of situational anxiety also has no eff ect on health motivation. A higher level of personal anxiety among people with a high level of motivation for a healthy lifestyle was determined.Conclusions. Personal anxiety aff ects the level of motivation for health and a healthy lifestyle in people with occupational diseases.
