The “gender perspective” seems to be the key to solve a series of pressing problems on the most varied issues. All the expectations projected on it make it an unavoidable reference in certain academic and political contexts. On the other hand, its ontological assumptions, epistemological framework, and practical implications, which are the central themes of this work, have been scarce. Our aim is to raise some problems of this perspective -as expressed in our context- and develop its scope. Following these axes, we will apply our considerations on the proposals of Comprehensive Sexual Education (ESI in Spanish). Our contention is that when we focus on the experiences of trans* people, the so-called “gender perspective” is all too often part of the problem to be solved, rather than its solution.

AbstractIn Indonesia, movies that bring sensitive issues such as sex education was previously considered taboo. On the other hand, as an alternative media that is easily understood by the audience, movies are used as one of the most effective means of delivering messages. This study aimed to determine the reception of Dua Garis Biru's teenage audiences about sex education issues. This study used Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding analysis method to determine the audiences’ meaning of each scene in the movie. The findings show that the reception of the film audience of Dua Garis Biru showed three reading positions. There were dominant reading, negotiation reading, and opposition reading. The position of the reading was highly influenced by the background and experiences of teenage audiences. Furthermore, the audiences interpret Dua Garis Biru movie as giving the messages about sex education issues but also gender equality issues, the values of the beliefs held, and how the family provided sexual education to the teenagers.Keyword: Audiences reception, Encoding-Decoding,  Movie, Sex Education, Teenagers.

This chapter compares two national crowdfunding markets based on their platforms and regulatory legislation on crowdfunding. Spain and France were selected though a cluster analysis since both differ on those characteristics. Mean comparison tests were carried out to estimate differences. Data were based on a survey specifically designed and conducted for this research. While crowdfunding is an internet-powered activity with global accessibility, national boundaries and geographic proximity play a significant role in shaping the performance of crowdfunding platforms. Regarding practical implications, as each country developed its specific legislation, it is concluded that this legislation may boost or hinder the growth of crowdfunding. On the other hand, the different way platforms managed their business does not affect their outcomes in terms of number of projects and funds raised. As a result, although platforms are indispensable as an intermediate agent between funders and investors, they determine neither the number of projects hosted nor the funds raised.

The biblical story of Zelophehad's daughters (Numbers 26 and 36, Josh. 17:3-6) and its avatars in talmudic midrashim and modern feminist midrashim are studied from a gender perspective. The biblical story is shown to be ambiguous, in that, on the one hand, its heroines are five impressive women who bring about a change in the law that bene ts certain women, while, on the other hand, it is firmly set in an androcentric patriarchal context whose focus is the survival of the father's name. Even though the biblical story is not feminist, it includes elements that made it possible for the feminist aspect to be raised in the talmudic midrashim (which other general praise for women as compared to men or recognition and acknowledgement of male discrimination against women)—and all the more so in modern feminist midrashim that present the five women as possessing a well-developed feminist consciousness and as a positive model of sisterhood.

This paper provides five clear, relatable examples that can help students understand the distinction between the term “factors” and “mechanisms” in Developmental Psychology. The examples emphasize the idea that factors are related to changes in ways that moderate development, but are not causal. On the other hand, the term mechanism refers to processes that produce change. These examples can be embedded in lectures individually or shared as a whole to support student learning. A precise understanding of the distinction between factors and mechanisms can help students better understand development, parse research findings, and consider policy and practical implications.

A dichotomy often frequent in the context of geographic studies concerns the dualism between propagation and induction models-based phenomena, inherent in variables and factors characterizing contiguous areas, and research relating to homogeneity between geographically not closed areas. In the wake of the latter research, this contribution proposes a model that exploits the potential of graph theory for the evaluation of common dynamics relating to non-contiguous areas. The assumption underlying the model envisages configuring the reality being studied in terms of a network whose nodes and branches are respectively representative of entities distant from each other and of their related affinities. The proposed approach focuses on some Italian industrial districts. The value of the proposed approach is twofold, on the one hand regarding the specific industrial district topic with both scientific and practical implications, and on the other hand it aims to provide a method that can be replicated in similar scenarios in which it is interesting to evaluate the similarity between neighboring areas analytically.

Abstract Purpose To show for which publication-citation arrays h-type indices are equal and to reconsider rational h-type indices. Results for these research questions fill some gaps in existing basic knowledge about h-type indices. Design/methodology/approach The results and introduction of new indicators are based on well-known definitions. Findings The research purpose has been reached: answers to the first questions are obtained and new indicators are defined. Research limitations h-type indices do not meet the Bouyssou-Marchant independence requirement. Practical implications On the one hand, more insight has been obtained for well-known indices such as the h- and the g-index and on the other hand, simple extensions of existing indicators have been added to the bibliometric toolbox. Relative rational h-type indices are more useful for individuals than the existing absolute ones. Originality/value Answers to basic questions such as “when are the values of two h-type indices equal” are provided. A new rational h-index is introduced.

Abstract The changing demographics and growing diversity in the United States pose significant challenges for researchers, particularly scholarship involving sexual minority adults’ health and aging processes. Not much is known about how all minority stressors could lead to a disability. Sexual minority adults are at a greater risk of developing a disability later in life than their heterosexual counterparts (Fredriksen-Goldsen, Kim, & Barkan, 2012). Drawing from critical components of the disablement process model (Verbrugge & Jette, 1994), this dissertation sought to understand the relationship between minority stress and disability status among sexual minority adults 50 years and older. Minority stress in the context of the disablement process model is a social condition. While exploring the relationship between minority stress and disability status, intra-individual factors and extra-individual factors were assessed to see if they mediated the relationship between minority stress and disability status among sexual minorities 50 years and older. Discrimination is significantly associated with having a disability. None of the intra-individual factors and extra-individual factors mediated the relationship between minority stress and disability; however, several intra- and extra-individual were associated with greater or lesser odds of experiencing a disability. This dissertation concluded that discrimination is associated with disability status among sexual minority adults 50 years and older. On the other hand, the disablement process model does not support minority stress as a social condition leading to a disability. On the other hand, this dissertation's results support the ideology that experiencing discrimination is associated with a disability.

The present study aims to identify the level of using audio visual aids for teaching in Agriculture Faculty/ Mosul University and to determine the importance of the education methods and the educational tools utilized by the selected lecturers. The sample undergone for this study is 299 lecturers chosen randomly from 11 scientific departments at Mosul University. Accordingly, a questionnaire of four parts is designed to obtain the data for analysis. The results show that about 62.68% of teaching staff have used the audio visuals aids in their teaching methods and using educational computers come at the first. On the other hand, the graphic organizers and the audio-visual tools are very important, from the lecturers’ point of view, in teaching. The study also reveals some difficulties that the lecturers may encounter throughout using those aids. Moreover, this study shows that there are no differences between the users on one hand and their sex, education level and experience on the other hand. Hence, it is recommended that the users of those aids should be undergone for intensive training courses and workshops to enable them using these aids beside training them for advanced technology.

By adopting social exchange theory and the affect-infusion-model, the hypothesis is made that emotional intelligence (EI) will have an impact on three perceptions of trustworthiness – ability, integrity and benevolence – at the beginning of a relationship. It was also hypothesized that additional information would gradually displace EI in forming the above perceptions. The results reveal that EI initially does not contribute to any of the perceptions of trustworthiness. As more information is revealed EI has an impact on the perception of benevolence, but not on the perceptions of ability and integrity. This impact was observed to be negative when the nature of the information was negative. On the other hand, information alone was shown to have a significant impact on the perceptions of ability and integrity, but not on the perception of benevolence. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are addressed.
