The relevance of the regional demographic policy study in the Far East is beyond doubt. This article considers the real demographic situation in Primorsky krai and shows that its territory has seen a steady decline in the population due to natural decrease and migration outflow connected with the low standard and quality of life that in turn reduces the attractiveness of the region and makes it particularly vulnerable to global challenges. Attention is paid to the fact that under the conditions of the Russian Federation subjects' differentiation by geographical location, natural resources potential and level of socio-economic development there is no single approach to the regional demographic policy. Differences in the characteristics of the subjects lead to the necessity of developing demographic programs that would take into account the regional specifics, traditions, characteristics and needs of a particular territory. There are presented the results of the author's study of subjective assessments of the social well-being of young people in Primorsky krai and their migration intentions. The data obtained show that a significant part of young people assess the situation in Primorsky krai as unfavorable for further self-realization; the majority of respondents answered that in other regions/countries it would be easier for them to build a career, start a business, and achieve a high level of material well-being. The directions of the regional demographic policy, which allow attracting and retaining highly qualified personnel in the region, are suggested.

Orthohantaviruses give rise to the emerging infections such as of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) in Eurasia and the Americas, respectively. In this review we will provide a comprehensive analysis of orthohantaviruses distribution and circulation in Eurasia and address the genetic diversity and evolution of Puumala orthohantavirus (PUUV), which causes HFRS in this region. Current data indicate that the geographical location and migration of the natural hosts can lead to the orthohantaviruses genetic diversity as the rodents adapt to the new environmental conditions. The data shows that a high level of diversity characterizes the genome of orthohantaviruses, and the PUUV genome is the most divergent. The reasons for the high genome diversity are mainly caused by point mutations and reassortment, which occur in the genome segments. However, it still remains unclear whether this diversity is linked to the disease’s severity. We anticipate that the information provided in this review will be useful for optimizing and developing preventive strategies of HFRS, an emerging zoonosis with potentially very high mortality rates.

The paper analyzes the transformation of the female rural population position of the Far East in the USSR in 1970 - the first half of 1980 under the influence of a set of factors. The peculiarities of the geographical location of the region, its level of development, acceleration of life processes in rural areas, rapid dissemination of information and other factors had a significant impact on rural women. This influence was controversial and ambiguous. On the one hand, the role of a woman in the family changed, her activity as an employee increased, her well-being, cultural and educational level increased. On the other hand, becoming more independent, the woman aspired to better working and living conditions, career growth, free time increase, but in rural areas it was difficult. Despite the special attention of the state to the Far East and the activities aimed at the development of rural areas, life in the villages did not meet the urban views of local residents. The result of this transformation was a focus on childlessness for a large part of young people and moving to urban areas. Against the background of the village it was perceived as an incomparably better place of residence.

The development of a socially oriented market economy in Ukraine, the effective implementation of reforms in this direction and the improvement of the well-being of the population is not possible without qualitative financial support for the competitiveness of workers, above all, in the mining industry. However, the absence of effective levers of influence on the organization of high-tech production in this area, its considerable intensiveness of material and energy, and its complexity and harm have negatively affected the labor motivation of miners and the profitability of mining enterprises. Therefore, the urgent issues at the current stage of development of Ukraine's mining industry are determining the conditions and opportunities for increasing the competitiveness of employees in this industry. Scientific novelty of the results is to identify, substantiate and analyze the main stages of financial support for the competitiveness of workers in the mining industry under the conditions of a changing vector of the country’s foreign economic policy and of market for products of this industry. The obtained results of the research are the basis to both the study and practical solution of the problem of how to increase the competitiveness of miners in enterprises under various forms of management. This approach involves not only a high level of material incentives for highly qualified specialists in mining, but also a comprehensive development of personnel potential in this industry as a whole.

Today, the information technology industry is one of the most promising in the world and in Ukraine. The aim of the article is to analyze this industry in the context of human capital and identify key issues that will help the Ukrainian IT sector to reach a new level. The situation in Ukraine, along with world indicators, has a positive trend, especially in comparison with European countries. The main competitors are Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, but Ukraine remains the main provider of IT services in the UK. In general, the crisis caused by COVID-19 has affected the information services market in Ukraine, but in recent years the upward trend in the staffing of top software companies has remained. At the same time, the crisis in 2020 led to a reduction in vacancies to a level lower than in 2018. Compared to 2019, vacancies were noted by 27.64% more than in the current 2020. It should be noted. That in 2019, IT specialists (FOP) paid UAH 6.1 billion in taxes to the domestic budget, or UAH 35.1 thousand per year from each IT specialist. The authors highlight the following problems of the computer technology sector: low quality of education and training of IT specialists in universities, emigration of highly qualified personnel abroad ("brain drain"), outsourcing of IT companies abroad, non- compliance with global and European standards, low demand for IT -services in the domestic market, the lack of evaluation indicators that can characterize the effectiveness of employees, the relatively high level of taxation of IT companies and sole proprietors and others.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been shown to have impaired the mental health and well-being of young people. This study, for the first time, explores these aspects in young people with and without a migratory background during the extended course of the pandemic and restrictive measures, comparing two countries with a high COVID-19 prevalence: Austria and Turkey. Methods: The authors used the “Psychological General Well-being” index as part of an anonymous online survey with 3665 participants (ages 15–25), recruited from both countries during the first and the second waves of the pandemic, collecting data on individual experiences and problems encountered during the pandemic. Results: Mental health (b = 0.06, p < 0.023) and general psychological well-being worsened with the progression of the pandemic. Participants with financial problems had the most severe negative effect on mental health (b = 0.12, p < 0.001). Furthermore, females living in Turkey, both natives (b = −0.21, p < 0.001) and migrants (b = 0.25, p < 0.001), reported a more deteriorated mental health status over time. Conclusions: The extended pandemic duration and resultant “lockdown” restrictions have negatively affected the mental health of young people to varying degrees, depending on country of residence and migration background. A strong “recovery plan” that considers group-specific needs and vulnerabilities is urgently needed.

This paper presents the results of a comparative spatial analysis of socio-ecological and economic well-being for the Russian regions of the Far East and Siberia. We use a multiplicative model, based on the A. Sen extended function. It include GRP per capita, share of personal incomes in GRP, cost of living index in the region, intra-regional income inequality and the integrated environmental index (it is defined as the arithmetic mean of the environmental indices calculated on the basis of the indicators: share of the negative water, air and soil tests). Calculations revealed that a high level of social welfare obtained on the basis of the four-component multiplicative model (i.e. without taking into account the environmental factor) is observed in the Chukotka Autonomous Area, Magadan and Sakhalin Regions. The inclusion of the environmental component in the comprehensive assessment of the regional development had a significant impact on the level of social well-being. In most of analyzed regions, the ecologically adjusted characteristic was significantly lower than the indicator obtained on the basis of the four-component multiplicative model. The most significant difference is observed in the Primorye Territory (51 %), Jewish Autonomous Region and Omsk Region (25 %), which is significantly higher than the average level for the Russian Federation – 16 %. The analysis results can be used in the development of management decisions in environmental and economic interactions, as well as in the preparation of strategic planning documents

In recent years, in Russia as a whole and in the Belgorod region in particular, a healthy lifestyle (hereinafter - HLS) is gaining more and more popularity, and the attitude of young people towards it is changing depending on many factors - environment, material well-being, health and opportunities. The popularization of sports in the country and in regional educational institutions also has a great influence. The attitude of students of Belgorod universities and colleges towards healthy lifestyle and sports is becoming more serious: this can be seen from the increasing statistics of young people attending sports sections. In social networks, the number of groups and social advertisements devoted to healthy lifestyles, proper nutrition and sports is also growing. Propaganda of this direction began relatively recently, but today has become widespread among Belgorod residents. In addition, young people often jog on the streets of the city, or practice outdoors in open access sports grounds. In view of the prolongation of the pandemic in May 2020, such physical education activities in the fresh air gained mass and excitement. All of the above suggests that the attitude of young people to maintaining health, physical activity and spiritual peace is at a fairly high level. Today's youth is trying to take seriously the topic of health-saving technologies. In this article, the author reveals the concept of healthy lifestyles, explores the criteria for inclusion in a healthy lifestyle of Belgorod students, then analyzes the answers received through the survey and presents them in the form of diagrams.

For the Far Eastern regions of the Russian-Chinese border to date, some important, not very favorable social trends associated with the deterioration of various aspects of the daily lives of people, including the poor state of social infrastructure, presence of major difficulties in the field of labor and employment, reduced real incomes, etc. In our research, we relied on secondary sociological analysis (including statistical data) and quantitative methods (questionnaire survey). In general, the identified problems and trends significantly affect the physical and spiritual reproduction of the population. They should be taken into account as factors that affect the social well-being and migration strategies of residents of the Far East, which is fundamentally important for planning regional social policy.
