In recent years, the safety issue of construction workers has become a research hotspot, and many researchers have achieved results in the impact of safety behavior regarding China’s construction industry. However, the existing research about the driving factors of safety citizenship behavior is insufficient. To fill this gap, this paper explores the driving factor of safety citizenship behavior from the perspective of social capital theory. A cross-sectional questionnaire survey, involving 311 Chinese construction workers, was conducted to verify the influence of Social Safety Capital on Safety Citizenship Behavior. The results showed that safety citizenship behavior made by workers was significantly related to social safety capital. Autonomous safety motivation mediated the relationships between social safety capital and safety citizenship behavior. Further, this research supports the differences between social safety capital and autonomous safety motivation. Specifically, the paper found that social safety capital had the largest regression coefficient for participation of suggestion-making, and autonomous safety motivation had the largest regression coefficient for the relationship between superior and subordinate by multiple regression analysis.

Elements that play an important role in the cause of occupational accidents are human behavior. Thus reducing the occurrence of unsafe behavior is an effective way to prevent the occurrence of work accidents. From the results of preliminary studies conducted in the production area of PT X from 10 workers who observed the behavior of the use of PPE there were 3 workers who did not behave safely. This study aims to analyze the safe behavior and its causes in the effort of prevention of work accident by using Antecedence, Behaviour and Consequences (ABC) behavior model. This research used cross-sectional design. Data collection was obtained through measurement and observation. The population of this research was 20 workers loading unloading crude oil. The result of the research showed that 50% of workers doing the safe behavior. The safe behavior of the use of PPE by 80%, the implementation of housekeeping by 70%, and follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of 83%. Safe behavior was triggered by the important role of knowledge that workers have good enough about Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and safe behavior, worker attitudes toward safe behavior also quite good, and the training received is good enough. Besides giving rewards and punishment by the company also helped motivate workers to behave safely. While unsafe behavior that workers do not use a respirator and does not maintain the cleanliness of the workplace. Keywords: ABC model, loading unloading operator, safe behavior

There is an increasing number of the motorized pedicab and increasing existence among passengers in Yogyakarta do not necessarily make the Yogyakarta Special Territory (DIY) Transportation Agency recommends the motorized pedicab as one of the safe transports. This is the result of several cases of accidents that happen to the motorized pedicab due to the poor construction and the unsafe behavior among motorized pedicab drivers. The national media in 2006 reported that there were 13 motorized pedicab accidents in 2015 that resulted in 3 deaths. This was a mix method research that applied a descriptive design. Quantitative data collection methods were conducted using a personal questionnaire. Meanwhile, qualitative data was obtained by performing structured interviews with respondents and observations for the activity checklist. The population was all members of the Yogyakarta Motorized Pedicab Association (PMBY) with population 270 and the sample 94 people. The variables included the BBS components and the safety behavior of motorized pedicab drivers. Quantitative data analysis used SmartPLS 3.0 Software. Knowledge with perception showed a P value of 1.035 and knowledge with behavior showed a P value of 0.374. Quantitative test results showed interrelated variables, namely knowledge with the intention that had a P-value of 0.042. Intention variable with the behavior showed a P value of 0.016. Perception with behavior showed a P value of 0.019. Meanwhile, uncorrelated variable was perception with the intention of a P value of 6.057. Knowledge with perceptions showed a P value of a 1.035 and knowledge with behavior showed a P value of 0.374. Meanwhile, qualitative supporting data revealed that there was no correlation between knowledge and safety behavior among motorized pedicab drivers as well as the lack of safety equipment workers had so that safety behaviour cannot be practiced yet. Motorized pedicab drivers with good knowledge and good intentions but are not supported with adequate infrastructure and facilities as well as safety policies will not practice safe driving.

The unsafe behavior of construction workers is one of the most important and direct causes of safety accidents. Managers usually develop effective incentives aimed at regulating worker safety behavior. Due to the large number of workers in construction projects, there are multiple differences in fairness preference, risk preference and ability level, which will lead to the complex effect of the traditional mechanism to regulate workers’ safety behavior. In order to improve the effectiveness of incentive measures for worker safety behavior, this paper takes into account the multiple differences of individual workers’ fairness preference, risk preference and ability level, based on the tournament mechanism to construct a competition incentive model. By designing a tournament reward and salary distribution for heterogeneous workers, the occurrence of unsafe behaviors can be reduced. The study found that in terms of the optimal level of safety investment, workers with risk aversion attitude generally invest higher than that of workers with risk preference, no matter whether they have a strong fairness preference or not; In terms of the distribution of tournament rewards, workers with a risk aversion attitude and a higher level of fairness preference need to be given higher incentives.
