<p><span>Dental caries is a common problem in children. Health education by playing games is necessary to improve skills of children in dental care and oral health. Health education materials with quartet cards are presented in the form of pictures and interesting information. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of quartet card game method in improving knowledge and attitude about oral and dental health. The study used quasi experiment research with pre and post-test group designs. Samples were 56 children aged 8-10 years. Data analysis used paired sample-test. The results show that there was an increase in knowledge and attitude after health education using a quartet card game. Regarding knowledge, analysis showed t=13.635, p value = 0.000, α: 0.05, while on attitude aspect, analysis showed t= 9,352 and p-value = 0.000 α: 0.05. Quartet card game is effective to improve knowledge and attitude about dental care and oral health among children.</span></p>

Abstract: Oral health is still a problem in Indonesia, including Manado. General sources of dental health problems are closely related to the behavior of dental and oral hygiene maintenance. Although Dental Health Education (DHE) could change the bad behavior, it still depends on the media or educational tools. This study aimed to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of DHE with booklet and flipchart media on the improvement of dental health knowledge of students in SDN 126 Manado. This was a quasi experiment with two group pre-test post-test design. Samples were students of SDN 126 aged 8-10 years obtained by using total sampling method. The samples were divided into two treatment groups: booklet media and flip chart media. Data were statistically analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney test with a confidence level of 95% (p<0.05). The results showed that in improving dental health knowledge of students the DHE using booklet media had a p-value = 0.025 and the DHE using flip chart media had a p-value = 0.008. The statistical test comparing the effectiveness of DHE using both media showed a p-value = 0.688. Conclusion: DHE using booklet media was as effective as DHE using flip chart media in improving the oral health knowledge of students of SDN 126 Manado.Keywords: DHE, booklet media, flipchart media, students’ knowledgeAbstrak: Kesehatan gigi dan mulut hingga kini masih menjadi masalah di Indonesia, termasuk di kota Manado. Sumber masalah kesehatan gigi umumnya berkaitan erat dengan perilaku pemeliharan kebersihan gigi dan mulut. Untuk merubah perilaku yang buruk, salah satunya dengan melakukan intervensi melalui pendidikan, yaitu melalui Dental health education (DHE). Keberhasilan DHE antara lain dipengaruhi oleh adanya media atau alat bantu pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan efektivitas DHE dengan media booklet dan media flip chart terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut siswa SDN 126 Manado. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu quasi experiment, dengan two group pre-test post-test design. Sampel penelitian yaitu siswa SDN 126 Manado yang berusia 8-10 tahun. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode total sampling. Sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok yang menggunakan media booklet dan kelompok yang menggunakan media flip chart. Penelitian ini menggunakan uji hipotesis Mann-Whitney dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% (p< 0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai p=0,025 pada DHE menggunakan media booklet dan p=0,008 pada DHE menggunakan media flip chart terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak. Hasil uji statistik perbandingan efektivitas DHE dengan menggunakan kedua media tersebut, mendapatkan p= 0,688. Simpulan: DHE menggunakan media booklet dan flip chart keduanya sama efektif terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak SDN 126 Manado.Kata kunci: DHE, media booklet, media flip chart, pengetahuan anak

One of the factors causing dental caries is the lack of children's knowledge resulting in a lack of awareness of children maintaining dental hygiene. To increase children's knowledge can promote dental health through child oral health education and mouth. The use of media is still less effective in health education that has been running. Therefore the need for innovation and development is to use media innovation "Heni's Dental Flannel Book." The study aimed to develop "Heni's Dental Flannel Book" media as a health education book and the effectiveness "Heni's Dental Flannel Book" for increasing the dental health care of Early Childhood Education Programs. Research and Development (R & D), there are ten stages of research, namely: information gathering, design models, validation expert, revision, product trial (Pre experiment with one group pre-test post-test, a sample of 15 children), modification, application trial (Quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group design, a sample of 20 children in the intervention group and 20 children in the control group, final product revision, production of a product. Data were tested using ANOVA, Shapiro Wilk, Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney test. "Heni's Dental Flannel Book" is useful as an effort to increase dental and oral health care for Early Childhood Education Programs, as indicated by a p-value<0.001. Children's knowledge is characterized by a p-value<0.000, a child's attitude is shown by a p-value <0.000. There is a difference in the effectiveness of smart dental books and flipchart in increased dental and oral health care for children with a p-value of <0.000. “Heni’s Dental Flannel Book” effectively improve children's knowledge and attitudes

Background: Dental and oral health is one part that can not be separated from overall body health. Dental and oral care as a whole begins with dental and oral hygiene for each individual. Teaching methods of brushing teeth for children need to be given examples of a good model and with the simplest technique possible.Objectives: The research aims to increase the knowledge of SDN 33 Banda Aceh City students in maintaining dental and oral health and improve the dental and oral hygiene status of SDN 33 Banda Aceh City students.Method:  The research using a quantitative method with a descriptive approach, with the target of Class V students of SDN 33 Banda Aceh City Banda Aceh City totaling 30 children. Data analysis uses univariate analysis. The interventions provided were in the form of Dental Health Education (DHE).Results: The results of these community service activities show there is an increase in students' knowledge in the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene in SDN 33 Banda Aceh City students, with an increase before the intervention (pre-test) is in the sufficient category (56.7%) and after the intervention (post test) in the good category (96.7%). There was an increase in the status of dental and oral hygiene of students, with an increase before the intervention (pre-test) was in the bad category (100%) and after the intervention (post test) was in the good category (100%).Conclusion: It is recommended that schools provide regular counseling to students about the importance of maintaining oral health and holding joint toothbrushes to improve oral and dental hygiene.

Abstract : The study aimed to determine the correlation among knowledge and attitude with the behavior of pregnant women in dental and oral health care during pregnancy. The research was analytic observational and in terms of time used crossectional approach. The population in this study were pregnant women at Narmada Community Health Center whereas the sample obtained by 34 people who came to check Antenatal Care (ANC) in June 2015 taken by accidental sampling technique. Data collection of knowledge, attitude and behavior variables used questionnaire and Statistical analysis was performed by using Chi Square test. The research finding indicated that from 34 respondents, 17 pregnant women (50%) had lack knowledge level about oral and dental health care during pregnancy. The attitude of pregnant women in dental and oral care during pregnancy was 73.5% (poor attitudes), and in terms of respondents’ behaviour was the same like respondents’ attitude by 73.5% (poor attitude). Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significant correlation between knowledge with pregnant women behavior in dental and oral health care (P value = 0.013) and there was significant correlation between attitude with respondents behaviour in oral and dental care during pregnancy (P value = 0.004). Suggestion: It is expected for Health Care Institutions and health workers need to do an effort of sustainable counselling to communities, especially pregnant women about risk factors that can cause dental caries which can affect the health of both fetus and mother, increasing promotive efforts, for instance the improvement and maintenance of health and preventive efforts for communnities and pregnant women in order to have a good knowledge and attitude in maintaining oral an dental health care during pregnancy can be preserved and further enhanced, hence the sense of responsibility in terms of a behavior in the community or pregnant women concerning dental and oral health increases in line with knowledge improvement and developing attitudes.

Abstract: Currently, the oral health of children in Indonesia is still a problem dominated by caries and periodontal disease. A highly influential factor to these two diseases is behavior. One way to change that behavior is by intervening through education to improve children knowledge by using media or tools. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of dental health education using video media and flip chart in increasing children knowledge about oral health. This was a quasi experiment with a non equivalent control group design. Samples were students of SDN Kolongan aged 10-11 years old obtained by using total sampling method and were divided into two treatment groups: video media and flip chart. This study used the Mann-Whitney hypothesis test with a confidence level of 95% (p<0.05). The results showed that the p-value of dental health education influence using video media and flip chart to the improvement of oral health knowledge of children was 0.000 for each media. The statistical test comparing the effectiveness of dental health education using both media showed a p-value of 0.007. Conclusion: Dental health education using video and flip chart media improved effectively the oral health knowledge of students. Abstract: In Indonesia, dental health is still an issue dominated by caries and periodontal disease. The poor behavior of dental health maintenance plays an important role in the occurrence of these two diseases. Intervention through education can improve the behavior. Educational success in terms of behavior change is influenced by using auxiliary media. Animated cartoon is an auxiliary media that is more attractive than the other media because it combines sound and moving images in the delivery of information.This study aimed to obtain the effectiveness of dental health education using cartoon animation media to behavioral change of oral health maintenance among students of SD Advent 02 Sario. This was a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design. Samples were students of SD 02 Advent Sario aged 10-12 years obtained by using the purposive sampling method. The samples were divided into two groups: the treatment group using cartoon animation media and the control group without auxilary media. The measurement of the behavior of dental and oral health care of children resulted in an increase in the scores of pre-test to post-test 2 by 633 which was categorized as good. Statistical analysis showed that the p-values (significance) of dental health education with media animated cartoons from pre-test to post-test 1 and from post-test 1 to post-test 2 both were 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: Dental health education using animated cartoon media effectively improved the behavior of oral health maintenance.Keywords: dental health education, cartoon animated, behaviorAbstrak: Di Indonesia kesehatan gigi dan mulut masih menjadi masalah yang didominasi oleh penyakit karies dan periodontal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas dental health education media animasi kartun terhadap perubahan perilaku pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak SD Advent 02 Sario. Jenis penelitian ialah quasi eksperimen dengan nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian yaitu siswa SD Advent 02 Sario yang berusia 10-12 tahun yang diperoleh dengan purposive sampling. Sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yakni kelompok perlakuan menggunakan media animasi kartun dan kelompok kontrol tanpa media bantu. Hasil pengukuran perilaku pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak menunjukkan adanya kenaikan jumlah skor nilai pre-test ke post-test 2, dengan selisih kenaikan sebesar 633 yang termasuk pada kategori baik. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai p (signifikansi) dental health education dengan media animasi kartun dari pre-test ke post-test 1 maupun post-test 1 ke post-test 2 masing-masing sebesar 0,000 (<0,05). Simpulan: Dental health education dengan media animasi kartun efektif merubah perilaku pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulut menjadi lebih baik.Kata kunci: dental health education, animasi kartun, perilaku

BACKGROUND: Overall body health is influenced a lot by teeth and mouth. Dental health education in schools through total quality management (TQM) is a non-formal education system for school communities by learning by doing to change their behavior from being less profitable to be beneficial for their oral health. AIM: This study aims to analyze the effect of dental health education with a TQM approach on the behavior of dental and oral health management, and the status of the oral hygiene index simplified (OHIS) in elementary school students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The design of that project was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post-test design with a control group design. The number of study population was 80 children that were selected. The sample was divided into two groups, the intervention group consisted of 40 children who were given intervention (dental health education with TQM approach) and the control group consisted of 40 children who were not given intervention. Data analysis used univariable, bivariable, and multivariate using paired samples t-test and independent t-test. RESULTS: The statistical findings showed that there were differences in behavior and oral hygiene status after dental health education through the TQM approach to students (p < 0.05). There was an effect of dental health education through the TQM approach on OHIS status (p <0.05). Dental health education using the TQM approach influenced changes in behavior and OHI-S status (p = 0.001). The finding of the analysis showed that in the intervention group, there were differences in the average behavior and oral hygiene status from pre-test to post-test I (p = 0.001). However, there was no difference between post 1 and post-test II (p = 1.00). In the intervention group, there was a difference in this status from pre-test to post-test 1 (p = 0.001). While in the control group, there was no difference in the average behavior from pre-test to post-test I and from post-test I to post-test II. There was a difference in the mean OHIS status from pre-test to post-test 1 and from post-test 1 to post-test 2 in the intervention group and the control group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Dental health education using the TQM approach has influenced changes in behavior and OHIS status of elementary school students in central Aceh districts.

Background: Two main influencing factors of dental and oral health in developing countries are attitude and behavior.According to Lawrence Green’s theory, a person’s behavior is influenced by intention, namely reinforcing factor,predisposing factor, and enabling factor. One of reinforcing factors that has an important role for a mother in adoptingand promoting healthy behavior is social support. The study found issues on two social support domains, which wereinformation support and instrumental support. Therefore, “Bu GISELA” or Buku Gigi Sehat Keluarga (Family DentalHealth Book) was created to promote dental and oral health by habituating regular tooth-brushing activities. Purpose: Topromote dental and oral health care and maternal social support in mothers and kindergarteners in Made Urban Village.Bu GISELA was expected to improve informational support in mothers. Methods: A total of 20 mothers of kindergartenersin Made Urban Village filled pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The obtained data were then processed using a pairedt-test to see the relationship between the two variables. Results: A significant increase in knowledge (p-value <0.05) onpost-test compared to pre-test. Conclusion: Mothers’ dental health knowledge and social support increased significantlyafter they received “Bu GISELA”.

Logoterapi merupakan terapi untuk menemukan makna positif dibalik sebuah kejadian yang tidak diharapkan. Logoterapi dilaksanakan secara individu maupun berkelompok dalam bentuk konseling dan berorientasi pada pencarian makna hidup individu. Tujuan logoterapi meningkatkan makna pengalaman hidup individu yang diarahkan kepada pengambilan keputusan yang bertanggung jawab. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan rancangan pre-experiment dengan metode pre and post test group, artinya pengumpulan data dilakukan terhadap responden untuk membandingkan kualitas hidup sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan intervensi. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode total sampling yaitu pengambilan seluruh sampel dengan tetap memperhatikan kriteria yang telah ditetapkan. Jumlah pasien yang menjalani hemodialisis di RSUD Ungaran sebanyak 21 orang dan di RSUD Ambarawa sebanyak 25 pasien. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji t test dependent. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa dari 46 responden didapatkan rata-rata skor kualitas hidup pasien yang mejalani hemodialisis sebesar 60.22 dengan skor terrendah 55 dan skor tertinggi 69. Bahwa dari 46 responden didapatkan rata-rata skor kualitas hidup pasien yang mejalani hemodialisis sebesar 88.72 dengan skor terrendah 79 dan skor tertinggi 103. Hasil uji statistik dengan uji t test dependent diketahui ada pengaruh logoterapi terhadap kemampuan memaknai hidup pada klien yang menjalani hemodialisis di RSUD Kabupaten Semarang (p value: 0,0001). Saran perlunya peningkatan kemampuan perawat dalam memberikan layanan kesehatan termasuk pemberian atau pemanduan penemuan makna hidup bagi pasien hemodialysis, agar selain dengan hemodialysis, ada faktor internal dari pasien yang dapat dijadikan sebagai motivasi untuk sembuh dari penyakit.   Kata Kunci: Logoterapi, kualitas hidup   IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS WITH RENAL FAILURE WHO UNDERWENT HEMODIALYSIS   ABSTRACT Logotherapy is a therapy to discover the positive meaning behind an unexpected event. Logotherapy is carried out individually or in groups in the form of counseling and oriented to the search for the meaning of individual life. This study aims to improve the quality of life of patients with renal failure who underwent hemodialysis. This research was conducted by using pre-experiment with pre-post test study. The sampling technique was done by the convenience sampling. The number of patients undergoing hemodialysis as many as 46 respondents. Data analysis was done by using test t test dependent. The result showed that from 46 respondents got the mean of quality of life of patients who had hemodialysis 60.22 with lowest score 55 and highest score 69. Whereas from 46 respondents got the mean score of life quality of patients who had hemodialysis 88.72 with score the lowest score 79 and the highest score 103. The result of statistical test with t test dependent is known there is influence of logoterapi to the ability of meaningful life on client who undergo hemodialysis at Semarang Regency hospitals (p value: 0.0001). Advice on the need to improve the nurse's ability to provide health services, including the provision or guidance of the discovery of the meaning of life for hemodialysis patients, in addition to hemodialysis, there are internal factors of the patient that can be used as a motivation to recover from illness.   Keywords: Logotherapy, quality of life, kidney failure.

Latar belakang: Kondisi sasaran pencapaian Indonesia Sehat 2015 dari program MDG’s yang belum tercapai, sehingga dilanjutkan dengan program SDGs menjadikan Indonesia harus banyak berperan dalam semua kegiatan khsusnya di bidang kesehatan. Proses pencapaian cakupan program kesehatan sangat dipengaruhi oleh Health education yang dilakukan petugas kesehatan kepada warga, kesehatan masyarakat. Tujuan: Penelitain ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan perilaku hidup bersih sehat yang  dilaksanakan warga setelah diberikan intervesi health education.  Metode: Metode penelitian dilaksanakan secara quasi experiment pre dan post test.  Teknik mengambil sampel secara purposive Sampling pada 30 reponden kelompook intervensi dan 26 responden kelompok kontrol. Analisa data dilakukan secara paired t test. Hasil: Hasil di dapat ada perbedaan yang bermakna antara pengetahuan dan perubahan perilaku hidup bersih sehat repsonden sebelum dan sesudah diberi penyuluhan p value = 0,000. Saran: Diharapkan pemerintah setempat menggerakkan petugas kesehatan bersama-sama dengan warga melakukan perilaku hidup bersih sehat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dengan memfasilitasi  sarana penunjang untuk menjalankan perilaku hidup bersih sehat, dengan maksimal pada warga. Kata kunci: Health eduation,  Perilaku Hidup Bersih Sehat
