Background: Data in 2013 states that the prevalence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) is 25%. One of the factors that cause ISPA is air pollution. This factor is one of the risk factors for motorcycle taxi drivers who are always exposed to air pollution. Knowledge of ARI that is sufficient to influence the use of masks can help prevent ARI from occurring. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of ARI and the behaviour of using masks among online motorcycle drivers. Methods: This study was an analytical observational with a cross-sectional design attended by 139 online motor cycle drivers around Grogol, Petamburan, West Jakarta, from July to December 2017. Data collection was done by filling out a questionnaire that includes demographic data, the use of masks, and knowledge of ARI. Data analysis used Fisher's test with significance level p<0,05. Results: A total of 139 respondents were collected, consisting of 131 (94.2%) men and 8 (5.8%) women. The average age of ≥ 30 years old is 77 (55.4%) people. Most respondents' education level was SMA/SMK/SLTA as many as 111 (79.9%) people. From the results of Fisher's test, it was found that the probability value p=0.362 was greater than the significance value (0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge about ARI and the use of masks among online motorcycle drivers.

Increasing levels of air pollution in Jakarta will have serious health impacts for those exposed, such as online motorcycle taxi drivers. Smoking behavior by online motorcycle taxi drivers can also cause health problems in the form of decreased lung function. This research aimed to figure the relationship between duration of exposure to air pollution and smoking behavior to lung function in online motorcycle taxi drivers at Jakarta. This research used a descriptive correlation design with cross-sectional approach which conducted in June-July 2020. There were 106 online motorcycle taxi drivers selected using accidental sampling technique. Lung function measured using the mMRC dyspnoe scale and distributed using google form. The results of this study found that the mostly 97,7% online motorcycle taxi drivers worked > 40 hours/ week, 68,9% online motorcycle taxi drivers categorized of mild smoking, 60,4% online motorcycle taxi drivers had no dyspnea symptoms (grade 0). Statistical analysis using chi-square showed that there is a significant relationship between smoking behavior with lung function (p-value 0,001), however, there is no significant relationship between duration of exposure to air pollution with lung function (p-value 0,056). It’s expected that online motorcycle taxi drivers can use masks while working to reduce exposure to air pollution and lesser to quit smoking.

Background: Until now, there are still many mothers who give complementary foods to babies before the age of 6 months. This is due to the lack of knowledge of mothers about complementary foods, the benefits and methods of giving complementary foods correctly, and improper complementary feeding habits, as well as the support from families in providing complementary foods. These conditions affect the mother's attitude in giving complementary foods (Sulistijani & Herlianty, 2001). Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers in providing complementary foods to infants aged 0-12 months. Methods: The research design used correlational analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all mothers who had children aged 0-12 months in Balonggabus Village as many as 58 people. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The sample size in this study were 58 respondents. Data collection was obtained through demographic data and questionnaire sheets with a total of 26 questions. Data were analyzed using the Spearmen Rho test with a significance level of p ≤ 0.05. Results:  The results showed that the level of knowledge of mothers in giving complementary foods to infants aged 0-12 months in Balonggabus Village, Candi, Sidoarjo, almost half of them had a low level of knowledge of 28 respondents (48.3%), and attitudes of mothers in giving complementary foods to babies. Most of those aged 0-12 months had negative attitudes as many as 38 respondents (65.5%). The results of statistical tests show that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers in providing complementary foods to babies aged 0-12 months in Balonggabus Village, Candi, Sidoarjo with a significance level of 0.000 (ρ ≤ 0.05). Discussion: Based on the results of the study, it was found that the better the level of knowledge of a mother regarding complementary feeding, the mother has a positive attitude in complementary feeding. Conclusion: The implication of this study shows that the level of knowledge of mothers in providing complementary foods needs to be improved by providing information by health workers and health cadres about complementary feeding, so that the mother's attitude will be positive.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the correlations between oxidative DNA damage among elderly persons aged between 60 and 79 years and sociodemographic, anthropometric and functional parameters. Method: The present study has a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional design. A group of 195 independent-living elderly persons of both genders underwent blood collection and the subsequent measurement of serum concentrations of 8-OHdG, a residue generated by the attack of reactive oxygen species to DNA. The same subjects also underwent evaluation for body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage, the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), and the education level of the participants was analyzed. Statistical analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test, adopting a 5% significance level. Result: Higher fat percentage and BMI are directly correlated with higher concentrations of 8-OHdG, while SPPB and education were inversely correlated with the concentration of this molecule in the sample. Conclusion: These results suggest factors such as lifestyle and educational level influenced oxidative DNA damage in these elderly persons and had an impact on their functional capacity.

Polypharmacy is a common practice among the elderly, but few studies have evaluated its association with nutritional markers. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of polypharmacy and its association with nutritional markers, chronic diseases, sociodemographic and health variables. This research is part of the Study Elderly/Goiânia, which evaluated 418 elderly community in a cross-sectional design. Polypharmacy was defined as the use of five or more concomitant medications. The following nutritional markers were investigated: BMI, waist circumference, percentage body fat, weight gain and loss, use of diet, daily consumption of fruits, vegetables, skimmed and whole milk. Multivariate analysis was performed using hierarchical Poisson regression, with significance level set at 5%. The prevalence of polypharmacy was 28% (95%CI 23.1 - 32.5), with a significant association with feminine gender, age range 75 - 79 years, eutrophic nutritional status and obesity, use of diet, poor self-rated health and presence of two, three or more chronic diseases. The high prevalence of polypharmacy and its association with nutritional markers and chronic diseases call the attention for the need of nutritional surveillance and monitoring in the elderly.

Abstract: Breast milk is the best food for babies, especially in the first month of life. Breast milk contains all nutrients to build and provide the energy needed by the baby. The low rate of breastfeeding is a threat to child development. Several factors related to the success of exclusive breastfeeding are the level of knowledge of the mother and husband's support. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of mothers and husband's support  towards the success of exclusive breastfeeding in Lubuk Kilangan Puskesmas in 2017. This study was analytical with a cross sectional design. The population in this study amounted to 153 respondents. A sample of 31 respondents obtained by simple ramdom sampling. Data were analyzed bivariate. The statistical test results obtained p-value = 0,000. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the knowledge of mothers about exclusive breastfeeding and husband's support for the success of exclusive breastfeeding.

Instrument failure during root canal preparation is still a concern among endodontists. However, it remains unclear whether the use of more martensitic alloys or the cross-sectional design parameters (i.e., core mass) significantly improve fracture resistance. The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of core mass and alloy on dynamic cyclic fatigue resistance of nickel-titanium endodontic instruments in matching artificial canals at body temperature. Two groups were tested. (A) taper 0.04: F360 (Komet, Lemgo, Germany), Twisted file (Sybron Endo, Glendora, CA, USA) (=TF), JIZAI (Mani, Tochigi, Japan) (=J_04) (all size #25) and the variable tapered TruNatomy (Dentsply, Ballaigues, Switzerland) (size #26) (=TN). (B) size #25; taper 0.06: (Mtwo (VDW, Munich, Germany), JIZAI (Mani) (=J_06), and variable tapered Hyflex EDM OneFile (Coltene Whaledent, Altstätten, Switzerland) (=HF). Time, number of cycles to fracture (NCF), and number and length of fractured fragments were recorded and statistically analysed using ANOVA Student-Newman-Keuls, Kruskal–Wallis or Chi-square test (significance level = 0.05). (A) TN showed the significantly shortest time until fracture, followed by TF, F360 and J_04 which also differed significantly, while NCF showed the following order: F360 < TN < TF < J_04 (p < 0.05). Only one J_04 but all instruments of the other groups fractured within the test-limit of 10 min. (B) Mtwo was significantly inferior concerning time until fracture and NCF, compared to J_06 and HF (p < 0.05), which did not differ significantly (p > 0.05). While all Mtwo instruments fractured, only four instruments failed in the other groups (p < 0.05). Within the limitations of this study, alloy and cross-sectional design (i.e., core mass) were critical factors regarding instrument failure, but none of these factors could be determined as a main parameter for increased or decreased time, and cycles to fracture. Rather, it seemed to be the interaction of multiple factors (e.g., longitudinal and cross-sectional design, alloy, and rotational speed) that was responsible for differences in the time and cycles to fracture. Nonetheless, all instruments had lifetimes that allow safe clinical use. However, the superiority or inferiority of an instrument with regard to cyclic fatigue based on laboratory results—even when identical trajectories are guaranteed—may be considered questionable, as the characteristics and design parameters of the instruments vary considerably, and the experimental setups lack additional clinical parameters and thus clinical relevance.

Introduction Saudi Arabia’s culturally diverse population is growing rapidly. The need for cultural competence is greatest in pediatric units where nurses provide care to children in collaboration with their parents. Method Nonprobability sampling of 394 nurses and cross-sectional descriptive design was used to investigate nurses’ cultural competence, and to examine the relationships between the variables and participants’ demographic data in pediatric units across five hospitals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by asking nurses to complete a self-report questionnaire. Results The results suggest a high degree of cultural competency. Participants’ scores indicated high levels of perceived cultural awareness, sensitivity, and cultural competence behavior for performance. Discussion This study supports the 3-D Puzzle Model of culturally congruent care for cultural competence, which assumes that cultural competence is deeply influenced by one’s experiences. The findings revealed a high level of cultural competence despite a lack of information with respect to patient views.

Abstract Objective: to determine the quality of life in the workplace for nursing staff at public institutions in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. Method: quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional, and comparative. We used a probabilistic sample of 345 nurses with data collected in 2013 using an instrument created by the authors to gather bio-socio-demographic data and the CVT-GOHISALO instrument with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.95. SPSS 15 was used to analyze the data. A Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to calculate the normality of the data; the medians were compared using the Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test with the significance level set at 0.05. Results: the average overall quality of life in the workplace for nursing staff was 207.31 (DE 41.74), indicating a moderate level. The quality of life in the workplace was higher for people with permanent contracts (p=0.007) who did not engage in other remunerative activities (p=0.046). Differences in the quality of life in the workplace were observed depending on the institution where the subjects worked (p=0.001). Conclusion: the nursing staff perceives itself as having a moderate-level quality of life in the workplace. This level was determined in the statistical analysis based on the type of contract, whether the person performed other remunerated activities, and the institution where the person worked.
