The aim of the study is to prove empirically the causal relationship between students’ grammatical competence, schemata and reading comprehension. correlational study involved thirty students of the eleventh grade students of class science 2 and class science 3 and was conducted in May 2014 at a senior high school in Sragen. The technique of choosing the sample was cluster random sampling. The instruments were multiple choice tests for collecting the three kinds of data including the data of students’ grammatical competence, schemata and reading comprehension. Single correlation and multiple linear regressions were used to analyze the data. The result shows that there is a positive correlation between (1) students’ grammatical competence and reading comprehension; (2) students’ schemata and reading comprehension, and (3) students’grammatical competence and schemata to reading comprehension simultaneously. It means that the improvement of students’ grammatical competence and schemata will be in line with the improvement of students’ reading comprehension.

The correlation was proven by the result of the study which was carried out in November 2013 at SMA Negeri in Cilacap. The sample of the study were 32 students of XI IPA 5 taken by cluster random sampling. A questionnaire was used to collect reading interest data and objective tests were used to collect grammatical competence data and reading comprehension data. Single correlation and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. The result analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between (1) reading interest and reading comprehension; (2) grammatical competence and reading comprehension; (3) reading interest, grammatical competence simultaneously, and reading comprehension. Thus, it cannot be neglected that reading interest and grammatical competence give contribution toward reading comprehension.

This study aimed to find out whether using Fishbowl Strategy effects students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students At Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School. In this study, the writer used Fishbowl Strategy as the independent variable (X) and students’ reading skill as the dependent variable (Y), with the hypothesis: using Fishbowl Strategy significantly affects students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students of Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School. The population of this study was the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students of Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School which consisted of 76 students. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling that consists of 76 students. Then, the sample was divided into two groups, the group taught by using Fishbowl Strategy was as the experimental group and the group taught without Fishbowl Strategy was as the control group. The writer used multiple choice tests as the instrument of collecting data. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the value of t-observed (t0) was higher than the value of t-table, (tobserved = 4.75 > ttable = 1.666). Therefore, the hypothesis proposed by the writer was accepted. In the other words, using Fishbowl Strategy significantly affects the students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students At Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School.

This study was conducted as an attempt to find out the effect of Think Pair Share Strategy on students’ reading comprehension achievement. This research used the experimental design. The population of this research was the students of SMP Budisatrya. The Sample of this research was the 2014/2015 seventh grade students of SMP Budisatrya with the total number 40 of students as sample taken by using random sampling technique. The research was divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. The instrument used to collect the data was multiple choice tests of pre-test and post-test. To obtain the result of the reliability of the test, the Kuder Richardson formula (KR21) was used. The result of the calculation showed that the reliability of the test was significant. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that t- value was higher than t- table (2.46>2, 021) at the level of significance 0,05 with the degree of freedom (df) 38. Therefore, null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of using Think Pair Share Strategy on students’ reading comprehension achievement.

The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying SQ3R method inreading comprehension. Experimental research design is used as the research method. This research took place at SMA Nasrani 2Medan. There were 2 classes chosen as thesample with 30 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namelyexperimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using SQ3Rmethod and the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrumentused to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test andpost test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The resultshowed that t-test was higher than t-table (4,23>2,00) at the level of significant 0,05with degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is acceptedwhich shows that SQ3R method significantly improves the student’s readingcomprehension.
