This strudy aim is to describe how the interaction between caregivers and students, both men and women, in Islamic boarding schools, as religious-based educational institutions. The location of the study is Bustanul Ulum Islamic boarding schools, Sawaran Kulon, Kedungjajang, Lumajang. This study uses qualitative method, through the phenomenological approach, which is introduced by Lanigan. Lanigan argued, the communication process has a correlation with the residence of communicator and the communicant. In the context of this study, the residence is the Islamic boarding school, while communicators and communicants are caregivers and students. Sources of research data obtained through observing and interviewing, and reading literature regarding the research topic. Observations carried out for ten days (March 15, 2020 until March 25, 2020). Interviews are conducted with caregivers and students. The results are, first; communication between caregivers and students in Bustanul Ulum Islamic boarding schools runs both verbally and non-verbally. In general, caregivers play a more communicator role, and santri become communicants. Second; communication carried out across gender. Only indeed, interactions and communication between Kiai and female santri are not as close and frequent as interactions and communication between Kiai and male santri. Likewise, interactions and communication between Nyai and male santri are not as close and frequent as Nyai and female santri interactions and communication. Because in the curriculum or rules that have been set, the who focuses of intensive teaching of male students, is the Kiai. While the one who focuses intensively in teaching female students, is Nyai.

Multicultural education has an important role in shaping the character of students to respect others and to foster a social spirit. Madrasas and Islamic boarding schools are Islamic educational institutions that have a major influence in shaping the character of students. This study aims to determine the differences in the implementation of multicultural education in MAN 3 Sleman and the Nurul Ummah Kotagede Islamic boarding school in Yogyakarta.The research method used is a comparative qualitative method, namely research that compares two or more entities. This study focuses on the similarities and differences between these two schools by comparing them with the same variables. Multicultural values include: diversity, humanity, pluralism, democracy, curriculum, culture, public relations, and comfort. From the results of the study it can be seen that in implementing multicultural education in both institutions, there are similar methods in its implementation.[Pendidikan multikultural mempunyai peran penting dalam membentuk karakter siswa untuk menghargai sesama serta untuk menumbuhkan jiwa sosial terhadap peserta didik. Madrasah dan pondok pesantren merupakan lembaga pendidikan islam yang mempunyai pengaruh besar dlama membentuk karakter siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan implementasi pendidikan multikultural di MAN 3 Sleman dan pondok pesantren Nurul Ummah Kotagede Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif komparatif, yaitu penelitian yang membandingkan dua gejala atau lebih. Penelitian ini berfokus pada persamaan dan perbedaan antar unit dengan membandingkan variabel yang sama untuk sampel yang berbeda. Nilai-nilai multikultural antara lain: keragaman, humanis, pluralis, demokrasi, kurikulum, budaya, hubungan masyarakat dan kenyamanan. Dari hasil penelitian, dapat diketahui bahwa dalam pengimplementasian pendidikan multikultural di kedua lembaga tersebut terdapat metode yang sama dalam pengimplementasiannya.]

Along with the development of the education system in Indonesia, pesantren are classified into two parts, namely the Salafi pesantren (pesantren that maintains classical traditions) and the Khalafi pesantren (pesantren that incorporate general knowledge or open school institutions). Not all educational institutions have integrated relationships with other knowledge, but from several Islamic boarding schools, there are many that have integrated salaf and khalaf education, such as the one in Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang. Islamic boarding schools which were naturally as Islamic educational institutions that consistently breed inclusive and tolerant values. However, radicalism in the name of religion had become increasingly massive in Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze the Islamic boarding schools’ strategy in West Borneo in countering the radicalism movement with the AGIL paradigm. The phenomenological approach was used in this study with four objects, namely Darul Khairat Islamic Boarding School, Makarim al-Akhlaq Islamic Boarding School, Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School and Darussalam Islamic Boarding School. The results of this study found that various strategies were applied by Islamic boarding schools, namely internalizing Sufistic teachings, applying salaf education, instilling the Ahlu Sunnah wa al Jama'ah doctrine, and instilling the values of tolerance and pluralist attitudes.

Abstract This research discusses about an analysis of male and female students’ English performance in retelling story at eleventh grade at Islamic boarding school An-Nur Jambi. The aim of this research is to describe the English performance shown by the eleventh grade students (male and female) as a reference for the English teachers to enhance the students’ English story telling ability for both male and female students. This research used descriptive qualitative method. This method was used to describe the problem under discussion thoroughly. The students language performance in this research was assessd based on speaking proficiency description checklist modified from Adam and Frith. The result showed that in all aspects of speaking performance in story telling such as pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension towards the story, female students had higher score than male students. Reading is one of the activities that are beneficial for people life. Reading has various benefits in everyday life. By reading, people can find various information, insights, and knowledge. By reading, a person can solve the problems of his life. Therefore, the habit of reading must be grown and improved, especially in educational institutions such as Islamic boarding schools. This research aims to describe the reading habits of the Islamic boarding schools students and the factors that influence these reading habits. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The data collection technique used is distribute questionnaires onto research subjects. The subjects of this research are 10 female students of the Sirojut Tholibin Islamic Boarding School Tulungagung. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded: (1) The reading habits of the students of the Sirojut Tholibin Islamic Boarding School Tulungagung can be analyzed from the duration of reading, the time used in reading books, the types of books that the students prefer (2) Factors that influence the reading habits of the students include the reading motivation of the students, the schedule of the boarding school, and the attitude of the students towards reading activities.

AbstrakPola Strategi pengembangan Pondok Pesantren di Malangke, strategi pengembangan pesantren adalah cara atau srategi yang digunakan oleh wadah atau tempat guna proses suatu perubahan berencana yang memerlukan dukungan semua pihak, anatara lain Kepala, staff, guru, dan siswa dengan perubahan-perubahan itu diharapkan dapat mengembangkan dan meningkatkan lembaga pendidikan, yang memerlukan usaha jangka pendek, menengah, dan panjang guna menghadapi perubahan yang akan terjadi pada masa mendatang. Peluang dan tangan pengembangan Pesantren di Luwu Utara,  terdapat Undang-undang Nomor 20 tahun 2003 tentang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional, yang beberapa pasalnya menekankan penyelenggaraan pendidikan keagamaan, seperti, pasal 30 ayat (1) dan Peraturan Pemerintah (PP) Nomor 55 Tahun 2007 tentang Pendidikan Agama dan Pendidikan Keagamaan pada pasal 1 ayat (2) tentang Pendidikan Agama dan Pendidikan Keagamaan yang didalamnya secara tegas dikemukakan bahwa pondok pesantren menyelenggarakan pendidikan diniyah pada tingkat dasar dan menengah, tergolong dalam sub sistem pendidikan Nasional di Indonesia yang bertujuan untuk mencerdaskan bangsa, menjadikan manusia yang beriman dan bertaqwa kepada Tuhan yang Maha Esa, berakhlak mulia, sehat, berilmu, cakap, kreatif, mandiri dan menajdi warga negara yang demokratis serta bertanggung jawab. Sedangkan tantangan ada beberapa hambatan 1)Sistem kurikulum yang lebih modern, sehingga pesantren ketinggalan jauh dari sekolah umum, 2) Kurangnya anggaran dan sumber pendanaan disebabkan oleh kurang siswa. 3) adanya sebagian orang tua tidak tertarik menyekolahkan anak di sekolah Pesantren.Kata kunci:      Pengembangan, Pondok Pesantren As’addiyah.  AbstractThe pattern of the development of Islamic boarding schools in Malangke, the strategy of developing pesantren is the method or strategy used by the place or place for the process of planning changes that require the support of all parties, among others, the Head, staff, teachers and students are expected to develop and improving educational institutions, which require short, medium and long-term efforts to deal with changes that will occur in the future. Opportunities and hands for the development of Islamic boarding schools in North Luwu, there is Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, some of which emphasize the implementation of religious education, such as article 30 paragraph (1) and Government Regulation (PP) Number 55 of 2007 concerning Education Religion and Religious Education in Article 1 paragraph (2) concerning Religious Education and Religious Education in which it is expressly stated that Islamic boarding schools conduct early childhood education at the elementary and secondary levels, belonging to the national education sub-system in Indonesia which aims to educate the nation, make humans who have faith and devotion to the Almighty God, are noble, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent and become a democratic and responsible citizen. While the challenges are several obstacles 1) A more modern curriculum system, so that pesantren lag far behind public schools, 2) The lack of budgets and funding sources is caused by lack of students. 3) there are some parents who are not interested in sending their children to school in Islamic boarding schools.Keywords:        Development, As'addiyah Islamic Boarding School.

This study aims to provide an overview of the process of cultural change through total quality management in Islamic perspective carried out at Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School. The method of the study is qualitative method by using in-depth interview techniques with informants. This research was conducted at the Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School, Depok City, West Java. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis with the stages of reducing data, triangulating data, presenting data descriptively, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results showed that cultural change through total quality management at Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School was seen from 7 focuses. The focus of planning for Islamic boarding schools is still focused on current conditions. The focus of the organization is participatory by involving all individuals to improve the quality of education and to develop Islamic boarding schools. The focus of control is still in the form of monitoring and supervising each section based on the existing SOP. The focus of communication has been two-way communication. The focus of the decision is still reactive and not based on well planning even though decisions are made based on deliberation and consensus. The focus of functional management has not been fully integrated. The focus of quality management is still reactive because it is still in the stage of finding the best and most suitable method to be applied in Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, the process of cultural change at Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School has begun to occur.

Islamic boarding school is one of the educational institutions of non-governmental non-profit religious organizations that prioritizes a service to external parties. The financial management of Islamic boarding schools still uses simple methods, accounting that has been used so far has not used financial reports that are in accordance with Islamic boarding school accounting guidelines. The purpose of this service is to provide additional knowledge to financial managers in compiling financial reports using software in order to provide transparent, accountable and accountable reporting. The method of implementing the activity is counseling, discussion and question and answer, which begins with providing knowledge about how to prepare Islamic boarding school accounting financial reports.

This article aims to determine how important the vocational skill education for students in the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School of Kersamanah Garut. The background of this research is that ideally the person who was educated both formal and non-formal schools at least have the skills of life that it faces, especially in the world of work. In fact there are a lot of unemployment among educated either issued by the formal and non-formal education is still unused and still many educational institutions interventioned with offices and civil service, and there are still doubts in the world of work on the output issued boarding. Therefore it is necessary to study "Education Vocational Skills (Case Study In Darusaalam Islamic Boarding School Kersamanah Garut)", This study aims to describe and analyze the development of vocational skills in applied as future supplies students. It uses the method to achieve the goal of research is to reserch descriptive qualitative method. Data retrieval is done by interview, observation and documentation. Results from this study showed that the Darussalam Islamic Boarding school is a boarding school that equip students with vocational skills through extra-curricular activities in the form of education life skills oriented vocational education skills such as : organizational and clerical schools , or in the form of a course in which there are education vocational skills such as : automotive , sewing and culinary art , or other training by bringing in trainers from outside schools , in order to motivate students to become productive graduates who are able to enter public life line

This study aims to see the potential of students in digital literacy transformation entering the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 at the Modern Muhammadiyah Boarding School Sleman Islamic Boarding School, Yogyakarta. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation and interviews with 10 students. The results of this study found that students have mastered the technology of digital literacy transformation of students in the potential of mastering digital literacy. This is because Islamic boarding schools still limit the length of time they use technology. Although this pesantren has used modern pesantren. Pesantren leaders must balance religious education with technology so that graduates are not less competitive when they enter tertiary institutions and the world of work. For future researchers, it will be deeper in digging up information and using more samples.
