The article considers the issues of experiments on animals during the training process of medical students. The objective of the work is to assess the possibility, necessity and expediency of experiments on animals during the training of medical students with identification of possible alternatives. An anonymous impersonal survey of 83 interns was conducted. The purpose of the experiments, animal species, methods of anesthesia, respondent’s role in the experiment, and the level of acquired knowledge were investigated. As an option, the respondents offered an alternative to experiments on animals during the educational process. It was found that 47% of respondents perceive experiments on animals during training as an indispensable, traditional and common practice. A significant part of respondents (33.7%) stated complete absence of new information obtained, 47% admitted that the level of knowledge obtained was moderate, and 19.3% reported considerable level of knowledge obtained. Most respondents were not familiar with the same issue in other countries and with the relevant national laws and regulations. In general, 86.7% of respondents expressed their negative attitude to causing harm to animals. The practice of experiments on animals must be brought into accordance with legal requirements. It is unacceptable to use animals for educational purposes, if this goal can be achieved in other ways. Animal testing is justified only when there is a reason to expect that the results will significantly contribute to the solution of current scientific problems. The introduction of alternative methods and means in the educational process will improve the learning process and reduce the number of experiments on animals.

The incidence of unintended pregnancy and unsafe abortion are significantly high due to the lack of knowledge and negative attitude towards contraception and it can be prevented by effective and appropriate contraceptive knowledge and usage.  Considering the future role of medical students as family planning educator as well as counsellors, it is not only important to determine their knowledge, attitude and perception towards contraception but also should be updated for improvement on the quality of future healthcare professionals on contraceptive knowledge which may lead to the reduction in the number of unintended pregnancy with improving maternal morbidity and mortality. This was a cross sectional study using self-reported questionnaires survey that consists of four sections as socio-demographic characteristics information, knowledge towards contraception, attitude towards contraception, and perception of education and training in sexual and reproductive health among medical student. Questions were, distributed among medical students in Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and analyzed. The response rate was 100%. and most of the respondents in this study were Malay (64·4%), female (68·3%), single (98·6%) and live in urban area (69·1%). Most of their parents had tertiary education level (father educational level, 63·3%; mother educational level, 50·0%). 56·1% of the respondents had poor level of knowledge and 59.2% of them had negative attitude towards contraception. Regarding the perception on contraception, most of the respondents thought that they did not have sufficient clinical practice (50·4%) though adequate training (57·6%) in counselling the patients for family planning service during their clinical posting. There was a significant association between gender, place of birth, ethnicity, marital status, father educational status and level of knowledge. There were a higher percentage of respondents who had poor knowledge and negative attitude towards contraception. Assessing the knowledge and attitude of medical students on contraception and their relationship with socio-demographic characteristics and socio-economic factors plays a leading role in public health projects which are aimed to combat maternal mortality through reducing unintended pregnancies. To change the attitude towards contraception and further increase the level of knowledge of contraception among medical students, collaborated health education and similar studies among health workers are highly recommended.

The article explores the benefits of using computer technology in the educational process and emphasizes their ability to increase the motivation of foreign medical students to study. Using the latest technologies in the educational process is a demand of time. Intensifying the interest to the discipline and improving the quality and level of knowledge of students is the purpose of such using. The necessity and importance of on-line education at the current stage of society development is substantiated. Using effective techniques and methods of online learning, creating a variety of online courses, engaging students in an independent creative process – this is the optimal way to update the internal reserves of the educational process. The role of students' independent work in the educational process is determined. It is moticed that the independent work of students requires the same organization and methodological support as the traditional class work. The peculiarities of the content of independent work of foreign medical students are revealed and their communicative needs are determined. In accordance with the subjects of the educational programs for specialists in the field of knowledge 22 "Health care", specialty 222 "Medicine" and according to the communication needs, EDX on-line platform was selected and created for creating and implementing online special courses for independent work of foreign students at different stages of study. The structure of individual online special courses is analyzed, the purpose, tasks and results of each of them are highlighted. The subject, distribution of classes, structure, linguistic, speech and communication material of the on-line special course "Introduction to the specialty: scientific speech" are characterized. The specificity, orientation, purpose and specifics of the task of the on-line special course "Professional communication: doctor – patient" are revealed. The conclusions about the necessity and appropriateness of the application of the specified online special courses in the process of preparation of foreign students in medical institutions of higher education.

Background Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS are infections that constitute major health concerns impacting national health systems worldwide. This is the first study to determine Syrian medical students' attitudes, awareness and knowledge of HIV/HBV/HCV, regarding general knowledge about, clinical features, transmission, and prevention. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted at Syrian Private University on World AIDs Day (1/12/2019), Damascus, during the Syrian war crisis. Data were collected through self-administered surveys which targeted social demographic information, general knowledge, attitude, towards HBV, HCV, HIV. Data were divided and analysed according to the source of information, study year, marital status, and GPA using one-way analysis of variance to assess the level of knowledge. Results Of 317 respondents, the majority (59.8%) were males with age ranging from 18 to 30 years of age. . The majority of students 188(59.3%) showed an average level of knowledge, 73(23%) showed a good level of knowledge. This study revealed adequate knowledge. However there were misconceptions regarding transmission pathways. The majority 173(54.6%) had a positive attitude, and 144(45.4%) had a neutral attitude, while none had a negative attitude towards HIV/HBV/HCV infected individuals. Clinical year students (mean 73.0%, SD ± 10.0%) demonstrated higher levels of awareness compared to pre-clinical students (mean 39.7%, SD ± 13.0%). Conclusions This study revealed that medical students have adequate knowledge regarding HIV/HBV/HCV. Medical students play a pivotal role in raising awareness and disseminating knowledge among the community, thus more effort should be concentrated on developing educational programs to limit the risks of such infections.

Traditionally, education in medical universities has huge practical part. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic the educational process has been transferred to distance learning and disadvantages of it have been revealed. The negative aspects of distance learning need to be analyzed and strategies of their prevention need to be developed. An anonymous survey was conducted among students in order to know their opinion about a transfer to distant learning. Online Google Forms technology was used with this purpose. According to the obtained data, the majority of students (58,2%) indicated a decrease in the level of knowledge acquired remotely during the quarantine. The importance of contact with teachers and receiving tasks from them during quarantine was noted by 79,6% of respondents. Only small part of students (12,2%) assessed distance learning positively. Most of them (75,5%) cannot imagine isolation without using the means of communication, but in case of inability to use them, respondents (43,8%) answered that they would read books. This raises an extremely important question about the dependence of the learning process on electricity. Over the half of the students admitted that the state of health (65,3%) and mood (57,1%) had become worse. About half of students spent their leisure time playing computer games (42,5%), had communicated with family and friends more often (44,9%) and felt homesick (45,9%). These signs are the components of distress that indirectly affect the ability to learn. It is crucially important to provide the maximum audio-visual contact between the teacher and the student during distance learning. The system of psychological consulting of students is extremely needed. Classroom activity with necessary antiepidemic measures should be provided for medical students. The duration and format of online lectures, practical and laboratory classes should be changed.

Our conference is the first project of Student Science Association, which was restored in our University in 1998. The main peculiarity of the conference is the student organizing committee. The conference was attended by representatives of Russia, Belarus, Sweden, Poland, Bulgaria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, Iran, not mentioning hundreds of Ukrainian participants. We’re happy with the fact that our conference allows students to discover new information, which they wouldn’t find in training courses manuals; contrariwise businesses and organizations can get direct access to young and qualified staff. We believe that events like our conference are useful for the young scientists and also for the public authorities and businesses. Conference "Ecology. Human. Society "is a part of feedback between universities and market participants. The conference has overgrown limits of being simple educational process element. Today, it is a serious recruiting resource for state institutions and businesses - an important part of a mutually beneficial dialogue.

Este artículo es producto de una investigación que tiene como finalidad establecer la relación que tienen las TIC con el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes del Colegio Técnico Industrial “La Alborada” de la ciudad de Milagro, provincia del Guayas, Ecuador. Este estudio se enmarca dentro de las investigaciones descriptivas, correlacionales, ya que por medio del análisis, observación, comparación y descripción de las variables, se establece el escaso uso de las herramientas tecnológicas en el proceso educativo. Los datos estadísticos se obtienen de los resultados por la aplicación de instrumentos a los estudiantes y docentes de la institución. Se utilizaron los métodos deductivos, inductivos y teóricos para el desarrollo del proceso. La propuesta requiere un fortalecimiento en el uso de las nuevas tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación, siendo importante que los docentes conozcan el uso adecuado de las mismas y las integren en sus horas de clases, porque mejorará el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes por su nueva forma de explicar las clases que serán más interactivas y divertidas. Es necesario realizar un Plan de capacitación en el uso de las herramientas e- learning que garantice una educación de calidad.   Palabras claves: TIC, rendimiento académico, proceso educativo.   ABSTRACT   This article is the result of a research that aims to establish the relationship of ICTs to academic performance of students in the Industrial Technical College “La Alborada” in Milagro, Guayas, Ecuador. This study is part of a descriptive, correlational research, since through analysis, observation, comparison and description of the variables, the limited use of technological tool sin the educational process is established. The statistics are obtained from the resultsof the application of tools for students and teachers of the institution. Deductive, inductive and theoretical process development methods were used. The proposal requires as treng then ing in the use of new information and communication technologies and it is important that teachers become aware of their proper use and incorporate them in their classes, because these will improve the academic performance of students in classes that are more interactive and fun. Innovations change the world in all spheres of life, and education is not an exception. Modern requirements of time put us new challenges that require the use of new information technologies at all stages of the educational process in higher education institutions, in particular the use of the Internet. In addition, it has been noted that Internet resources increase motivation and contribute to the formation of a fully developed personality. Testing and evaluating students' knowledge and abilities is an integral part of the credit-module system. One of the forms of evaluation of the initial level of knowledge, consolidation and improvement of assimilation of information is testing. It should be noted that in a number of countries, testing has shifted traditional forms of control — oral and written exams and interviews. However, in Ukraine, educators remain adherents of a combination of testing and classical analysis of material. It allows the most efficient distribution of the training time of a practical class, 100% control of the knowledge and the effectiveness of mastering the material of all the students of the academic group. Technical progress stimulates the search for new variants and possibilities of testing, its various variations. One of the options that can help solve this problem was a smartphone. In order to facilitate the work of the teacher at the Department of Microbiology, an online testing system with the use of smartphones was introduced. Online testing is conducted among students with Ukrainian and English language training. With the Google Forms platform, the teacher creates a form which contains the student's records and tests. Students directly from the teacher get a link to fill out an online form directly at the lesson. For testing, a database containing standard KROK-1 licensed test tasks is used. The form can contain any number of test tasks that are in arbitrary order, as well as a changed order of distractors, which makes it impossible to write off. At the same time, all students are in the same conditions: all write one option. After submitting the form, the student receives a notification that his response is recorded. Re-linking is not possible. In turn, the teacher receives a message on the result of the test in the table — the ratio of correct answers to the total number of questions, as well as options for their answers. First and foremost, questions are displayed on which students gave the largest number of incorrect answers. This allows the topic to be considered in the process of discussion of the most difficult tasks from the students perspective, and in the future it will allow more efficiently to create forms for on-line tests and to focus on these issues.

Research goal: the research is aimed at theoretical substantiation of applying the augmented reality technology and its peculiarities at higher technical educational institutions. Research objectives: the research is to solve the problems of determining the role and place of the technology in the educational process and its possible application to physics training. Object of research: teaching physics to students of higher technical educational institutions. Subject of research: the augmented reality technology as a component of the training process at higher educational institutions. Research methods used: theoretical methods include analysis of scientific and methodological literature; empirical methods include studying and observation of the training process. Research results: analysis of scientific publications allows defining the notion of augmented reality; application of augmented reality objects during laboratory practical works on physics is suggested. Main conclusions. introduction of the augmented reality technology in thetraining process at higher technical educational institutions increases learning efficiency, facilitates students’ training and cognitive activities, improves the quality of knowledge acquisition, provokes interest in a subject, promotesdevelopment of research skills and a future specialist’s competent personality.

Abstract Introduction As new coronavirus has spread globally, economic instability in healthcare systems has been significant. This reality is especially accentuated in Ecuador where, the shortage of healthcare workers combined with cultural and macroeconomic factors have led it to face the most aggressive outbreak in Latin America. In this context, the participation of medical students on the front line is indispensable. Appropriate training on COVID-19 is an urgent need that universities and health systems must guarantee. We aimed to describe the knowledge, attitudes and practices in Ecuadorian final year medical students in order to identify the knowledge gaps, perceptions and behavior patterns which could guide the desig3n of better medical education curricula regarding COVID-19. Methods This descriptive 33-item online survey conducted between April 6 to April 20 sent by email and by Facebook and WhatsApp. Results 309 students responded to the survey. 88% scored high (≥ 70% correct) for knowledge of the disease. The majority of students were pessimistic about possible government actions, which is reflected in the negative attitude towards the control of COVID19 in Ecuador and volunteering during the outbreak (77%, and 58% of the students, respectively). Moreover, 91% of students said they did not have adequate protective equipment or training in their health facilities. Conclusions Ecuador has a capable upcoming workforce that could benefit from an opportunity to strengthen, improve and advance their training in preparation for COVID-19. Creating a national curriculum may be one of the most effective ways for all students to be trained, while simultaneously focusing on the students’ most pressing concerns.
