There is an increased prevalence of heart diseases in developing countries and continuous monitoring of heart beats is very much important to reduce hospital visits, health costs and complications. The Internet of Things (IoT) equipped with microcontrollers and sensors can give an easy and cost-effective remote health monitoring. We developed a Heart Beat monitoring module based on an android application. The software involved was the Android Application developed using Android Studio, which is the Integrated Development Environment (IDE). This app retrieved the data from the open IoT platform thingspeak.com. A highly sensitive Pulse Sensor was used to measure the heartbeat of the patient automatically. An Arduino Uno microcontroller interfaced with a Wi-Fi module ESP8266 used to transmit pulse reading over the internet using Wi-Fi. The heartbeat was displayed on the LCD of the patient in run-time. The heartbeat in beats per minute (BPM) was plotted against time (minutes). A mounted pulse sensor to the patient had monitored the heartbeat and transmitted it in the form of voltage signal to the microcontroller, which converted it back into a mathematical value. The Arduino transmitted the data onto the thingspeak.com portal, where it was plotted on a graph and the values were stored for future assessment. The user of the app was given a things peak API and the channel number as an access code, through which physician or nurse can accessed the patient’s data. IoT based heartbeat module as an android application can provide a convenient, cost effective and continuous remote measurements for heart patients to help physicians and nurses update. This app can reduce the burden of hospital visits or admissions for elderly patients.

This paper describes the method used to retrofit a modern, computer-controlled fuel system to older, large-bore pipeline engines in order to improve the reliability of the engine, while also improving the fuel efficiency of the engine. In cases where the engines run in off-load condition (and many do), it is possible to improve fuel efficiency by from five to twenty-five percent, and the engine runs much smoother, reducing the mechanical stress on the engine. This system does not require expensive fuel valves that can withstand the heat and pressure of the combustion chamber, and thus is much more cost effective. With the developed software algorithms, the computer decides when, and how many, cylinders to disable, and when to reactivate. Of the approximately eight thousand low-speed, non-turbocharged stationary engines in pipeline service in North America, approximately half could benefit from this system, and will enable these engines to run for many more years in a much more efficient manner.

Recently, technological advance in Android application has grown rapidly especially in health care application along with the development of smartphone. The utilization of wireless sensor networks with the mobile wireless health devices has provided us with an alternative solution in health monitoring instead of using the traditional approach with higher cost. Therefore, the objective of this project is to develop and implement a training monitoring system for cyclist based on android application. In this system, wireless sensor nodes are assigned to collect the required data such as cyclist’s heart rate and cadence. All the data are then sent to the mobile device used by cyclist via wireless communication. The data collected are first stored in device’s internal memory before they are transferred to the server. This project involved programming of hardware using specific software such as Eclipse Juno Android SDK and SQLite database. The system also includes the graphical user interface (GUI) design using Java language for application on smartphone. In addition, the simple Dropbox command is used to design the server for data storage. All the stages of implementations are integrated in one whole system and can be run as an application by cyclist. The developed system is proven to be cost effective and reliable as well as easy for customization.

Now-a-days notice board plays a crucial role in many institutes/organizations or in railway stations, bus stands, schools, hospitals and in many other public places. Paper notices stacked on the notice board is a time lagging, cost effective process which includes wastage of time, paper and human work. The main purpose of the notice board is used to view the information in an efficient way to the people, on the other hand to update the messages immediately is not easy on the notice board. This project, deals about an advanced Hi-Tech wireless communicated Notice Board. We are introducing a new “VoiceTotext.apk” android application software which would convert the voice to text. It works on all android platforms, but also it can work with a working internet in the mobiles or any other PC’s.

The breakdown of motor proves to be very expensive as it increases downtime on the machines. Development of cost-effective and reliable condition monitoring system for the protection of motors to avoid unexpected breakdowns is necessary. Therefore, RetComm 1.0 is developed as assistant tool for bearing condition diagnosis system. The smartphone accelerometer is used to collect the vibration signal data and send it to computer by using the Android application named Matlab Mobile. The Matlab software is used to implement a program which is the RetComm 1.0 system to analyse the vibration signal and monitor the condition of the bearing. The algorithm used to observe the condition of bearing is trained by using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). In this project, the ANN is trained by using Matlab software. This proposed method is implemented for early diagnosis purposes. The diagnosis process can be done by just attached the smartphone onto the bearing for data collection. In conclusion, the bearing condition can be identified with this system. The bearing condition are shown in text to let the user know the bearing conditions. The raw data and power spectrum graph plotting are to let the user more further to understand the health condition of the bearing.

Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) has improved the quality of our lives through various interconnected gadgets and devices. Despite having great potential, IoT systemsstill have not made it into the mainstream industries orresidential complexes due to the high cost associated with commercial IoT solutions particularly in developing or least developed countries. In-expensive and open-source IoT-based systems could be employed in these fields to improve overall safety and drastically reduce accidents. In this paper, a model IoT system has been presented that could be used in any commercial apartmentor building complex or retrofitted to existing industry and can augment safety and reliability along with improving the quality of life. For this purpose, Atmega1284P and ESP32 microcontroller-based IoT device was developed and implemented. For IoT integration and cloud operation, the Google Firebase IoT platform was chosen. To monitor the system using both Bluetooth (low energy, BLE) and Wi-Fi, an Android application was created usingMIT App Inventor 2.This device is capable of receiving and handling multiple analog or digital sensors andwill send an automated email whenever a threshold value for the sensor is exceeded which could be easily changed via the application. Furthermore, the delay and system response of this device were experimentally determined. This type of system could be easily scaled for various applications which are also discussed in this paper. It also offers better flexibility and cost-effective solution to commercially available alternatives.

The female reproductive tract may be the site of a wide variety of benign and malignant tumors, as well as non-neoplastic tumor-like conditions, most of which can be diagnosed by light microscopic examination including special stains and more recently immunoperoxidase techniques. Nevertheless there are situations where ultrastructural examination can contribute substantially to an accurate and specific diagnosis. It is my opinion that electron microscopy can be of greatest benefit and is most cost effective when applied in conjunction with other methodologies. Thus, I have developed an approach which has proved useful for me and may have benefit for others. In cases where it is deemed of potential value, glutaraldehyde-fixed material is obtained at the time of frozen section or otherwise at operation. Coordination with the gynecologic oncologist is required in the latter situation. This material is processed and blocked and is available if a future need arises.
