In order to improve the durability of fly ash concrete, a series of experimental studies are carried out, where durability improving admixture is used to reduce drying shrinkage and improve freezing-thawing resistance. The effects of durability improving admixture, air content, water-binder ratio, and fly ash replacement ratio on the performance of fly ash concrete are discussed in this paper. The results show that by using durability improving admixture in nonair-entraining fly ash concrete, the compressive strength of fly ash concrete can be improved by 10%–20%, and the drying shrinkage is reduced by 60%. Carbonation resistance of concrete is roughly proportional to water-cement ratio regardless of water-binder ratio and fly ash replacement ratio. For the specimens cured in air for 2 weeks, the freezing-thawing resistance is improved. In addition, by making use of durability improving admixture, it is easier to control the air content and make fly ash concrete into nonair-entraining one. The quality of fly ash concrete is thereby optimized.

Recycled fine concrete aggregate can not be directly used for concrete for its large water absorption, so we get recycled concrete powder through grinding process, and carried out series experimental studies on the recycled concrete powder. The results show that the technical parameters of recycled concrete powder can achieve the requirements of S95 grade slag powder. The slump constant of recycled concrete mixed with recycled concrete powder is slightly less than slag concrete,while cohesiveness and water retention is better than slag concrete. Replace slag powder with recycled concrete powder, the recycled concrete has high early strength but post-intensity does not change significantly. Recycled concrete powder replacement slag powder does not reduce the impermeability, frost resistance and carbonation resistance of recycled concrete. The conclusion shows that recycled concrete powder can completely replace slag powder in concrete to realize full efficiency reuse of waste concrete.

In this paper, the carbonation depths of glazed hollow bead insulation concrete (GHBC) and normal concrete (NC) at different carbonation ages are tested. The microstructure of GHBC and NC before and after carbonation were observed and compared by mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that NC had better carbonation resistance than GHBC, and GHBC had a carbonation depth of 1.61 times than that of NC at 28 days accelerated carbonation experiment. The microstructural analysis showed that with the decrease of porosity of the samples, the carbon content and CaCO3 content increased after carbonation. The porosity of NC decreased from 14.36% to 13.53%, the carbon content increased from 4.42% to 5.94%, and the CaCO3 content increased from 18.5% to 56.0%. The porosity of GHBC decreased from 22.94% to 20.71%, the carbon content increased from 4.97% to 5.31%, and the CaCO3 content increased from 70.0% to 82.0%. The above results showed that carbon reacts with hydration products 3CaO·SiO2, 2CaO·SiO2, and Ca(OH)2 to produce a large amount of CaCO3 which causes a large amount of pores to be filled and refined hence the porosity and pore size were reduced leading to increase in the compactness of the material. From the results obtained, the carbonation depth prediction formula of glazed hollow bead insulation concrete was developed, and carbonation life was predicted.

The experiment study on the effect on the waste rubber concrete carbonization resistance performance from using three different doses of rubber which is 5%, 10%, 15% and three different rubber particle size which is 2-4 mm, 30-40 mesh, 60-80 mesh .The conclusion is that the concrete adding rubber particles had an adverse effect on early carbonation resistance of concrete, but late can make concrete carbonation resistance ability raise; Different rubber particle size and different influence on concrete carbonation resistance ability, 10% rubber content effect is the best, and the smaller the particle size of rubber particle concrete carbonation resistance ability of the better the results.

Mammalian spindles are generally large and may contain over a thousand microtubules (MTs). For this reason they are difficult to reconstruct in three dimensions and many researchers have chosen to study the smaller and simpler spindles of lower eukaryotes. Nevertheless, the mammalian spindle is used for many experimental studies and it would be useful to know its detailed structure.We have been using serial cross sections and computer reconstruction methods to analyze MT distributions in mitotic spindles of PtK cells, a mammalian tissue culture line. Images from EM negatives are digtized on a light box by a Dage MTI video camera containing a black and white Saticon tube. The signal is digitized by a Parallax 1280 graphics device in a MicroVax III computer. Microtubules are digitized at a magnification such that each is 10-12 pixels in diameter.

Abstract. Employing one correlational and two experimental studies, this paper examines the influence of attachment styles (secure, anxious, avoidant) on a person’s experience of equity in intimate relationships. While one experimental study employed a priming technique to stimulate the different attachment styles, the other involved vignettes describing fictitious characters with typical attachment styles. As the specific hypotheses about the single equity components have been developed on the basis of the attachment theory, the equity ratio itself and the four equity components (own outcome, own input, partner’s outcome, partner’s input) are analyzed as dependent variables. While partners with a secure attachment style tend to describe their relationship as equitable (i.e., they give and take extensively), partners who feel anxious about their relationship generally see themselves as being in an inequitable, disadvantaged position (i.e., they receive little from their partner). The hypothesis that avoidant partners would feel advantaged as they were less committed was only supported by the correlational study. Against expectations, the results of both experiments indicate that avoidant partners generally see themselves (or see avoidant vignettes) as being treated equitably, but that there is less emotional exchange than is the case with secure partners. Avoidant partners give and take less than secure ones.

Based on an analysis of John Exner’s peer-reviewed published work from 1959 to 2007, plus a brief comment for an editorial in Rorschachiana, the author draws a comprehensive picture of the scientific work of this outstanding personality. The article is divided into three sections: (1) the experimental studies on the Rorschach, (2) the clinical studies using the Rorschach, and (3) Exner’s “testament,” which we draw from the last paper he saw published before his death (Exner, 2001/2002). The experimental studies were aimed at better understanding the nature of the test, in particular the respective roles of perception and projection in the response process. These fundamental studies led to a deeper understanding of the complex mechanisms involved in the Rorschach responses and introduced some hypotheses about the intentions of the author of the test. The latter were subsequently confirmed by the preparatory sketches and documents of Hermann Rorschach, which today can be seen at the H. Rorschach Archives and Museum in Bern (Switzerland). Exner’s research has evidenced the notion that the Rorschach is a perceptive-cognitive-projective test.
