The present article presents some results of a Master’s degree research on the contributions of Paulo Freire State High School along the process of political education of young settlers who lives in the municipality of Abelardo Luz, in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. It aims to identify this school’s contributions in the process of political education of these young people and understand the relation between such a formation and the struggle for a field school. This qualitative study used as tools for collecting data school observations, analysis over its political-pedagogical project, and semi-structured interviews. We based our analysis on authors such as Pistrak (2000; 2009), Freire (1987; 2004), Snyders (2005), Dalmagro (2003; 2016), Vendramini (2007) and Caldart (2000; 2004). Paulo Freire school is contextualized along with the research subjects, students’ and educators’ characteristics, highlighting some contributions given to the school in connection to the political education of its students. One of the conclusion is that the participation of the Landless Movement and school takes place according to the political-pedagogical project based on Study Complexes, contributing to the fulfillment of a field school when it reaffirms a school formation as a right and reinforces the permanent need of school occupation. It is reinforced the school as a room for struggles, a terrain where contradictory forces face each other, leaving room for action.

With an opportunity of demographic bonus in the future, the best political therapy must be implemented to young people as a guarantee of the well-functioning of democracy, in which some of them are higher education students. Political education in higher education is constructed in both formal and non-formal forms. In the formal form, it is carried out through political teaching, while the non-formal form is related to the way individuals summarize political knowledge through reflection on a political system. ABSTRACT Indonesia is one of democratic state which exposed to low levels of citizen participation. But actually, participation is a key concept that must be owned by citizens in a democracy state. Therefore, we need political education as an effort to create citizens who are able to participate with responsibility. This is in accordance with the opinion of Hajer, which states that political education is a form of human effort to be a responsible participant in politics, so that people know about their political rights (Brownhill and Smart in Elly Hasan Sadeli, et al, 2009:19). The political education among college students organized for young people through the organization such as HMI, KAMMI and GMNI.

AbstractOne reform considered for increasing voter turnout rates is to lower the voting age to 16 years old. Advocates of such a reform argue that young people would vote for the first time while they are still in school and living with their parents, which would provide a social context that is supportive of their electoral participation. However, opponents argue that 16- and 17-year-olds are not mature enough to take part in elections. Using data from a 2018 Quebec election survey that included a subsample of individuals aged 16 and 17, this study provides mixed evidence for both arguments.

Abstract. This was a study on the perceived enjoyment of different movie genres. In an online experiment, 176 students were randomly divided into two groups (n = 88) and asked to estimate how much they, their closest friends, and young people in general enjoyed either serious or light-hearted movies. These self–other differences in perceived enjoyment of serious or light-hearted movies were also assessed as a function of differing individual motivations underlying entertainment media consumption. The results showed a clear third-person effect for light-hearted movies and a first-person effect for serious movies. The third-person effect for light-hearted movies was moderated by level of hedonic motivation, as participants with high hedonic motivations did not perceive their own and others’ enjoyment of light-hearted films differently. However, eudaimonic motivations did not moderate first-person perceptions in the case of serious films.

The author considers the questions relating to the formation of lawyers’ professional traits from the point of view of the significance which human capital and investment in this capital hold in contemporary times. It follows from the analyses, which were carried out, that the dire need for taking up actions with the aim to shape lawyers appears one of the most vital tasks. This requires taking into account visible trends in the changing job market. Another aspect results from the need for multilevel qualifications and conditions behind lawyers’ actions and their decisions. Thus, colleges of higher education which educate prospective lawyers, as well as lawyers’ corporations, are confronted by challenges of forming, in young people, features that are indispensable for them to be valuable lawyers and not only executors of simple activities. The author points to the fact that lawyers need shaping because, among others, during their whole social lives and realization of professional tasks their personality traits and potential related to communication will constantly manifest through accepting and following or rejecting and opposing values, principles, reflexions, empathy, sensitivity, the farthest-fetched imagination, objectivism, cooperation, dialogue, distancing themselves from political disputes, etc. Students of the art of law should be characterized by a changed mentality, new vision of law – service to man, and realization of standards of law, as well as perception of the importance of knowledge, skills, attitudes and competences.

The article analyzes the features of the current youth policy of the Russian Federation aimed at raising the political culture. Despite the current activities of the government institutions in the field under study, absenteeism, as well as the protest potential of the young people, remains at a fairly high level. In this regard, the government acknowledged the importance of forming a positive image of the state power in the eyes of young people and strengthen its influence in the sphere of forming loyal associations, which is not always positively perceived among the youth. The work focuses on the fact that raising the loyalty of youth organizations is one of the factors of political stability, both in case of internal turbulence and external influence. The authors also focus on the beneficiaries of youth protests. The authors paid special attention to the issue of forming political leadership among the youth and the absence of leaders expressing the opinions of young people in modern Russian politics. At the same time, youth protest as a social phenomenon lack class and in some cases ideological differences. The authors come to the conclusion that despite the steps taken by the government and political parties to involve Russian youth in the political agenda, the young people reject leaders of youth opinion imposed by the authorities, either cultivating nonparticipation in the electoral campagines or demonstrating latent protest voting.
