Abstract Today, developments in science and technology have made people more sensitive to their surroundings, as well as to the problems and challenges that surround them or threaten their lives in the future. This change in the way people look at the problems and big challenges of life today has led them to increasingly use science and technology. Scientific and technological progress has enabled humans to solve challenges that were once thought insoluble. These problems often involve three main limiting factors: cost, time and the need to collect lots of data. Today, in most countries, a solution called ‘citizen science’ is used to solve these big problems and projects. Indeed, the main foundation of citizen science is that it is used to conduct extensive experiments by ‘citizen scientists’ in areas such as sampling and other time-consuming and costly activities. This chapter explains how, after an initial research plan is presented and has been evaluated, the decision is made by scientists whether or not to employ citizen scientists. In the next stages, described below, scientists attract volunteer citizens, then carefully plan the details of the subject and the relevant training and education needed to carry out the various stages of the research proposed. After completing these training courses, citizens scientists enter the stage of conducting experiments and collecting the required data. Finally, scientists analyze the information collected by scientists. The chapter describes this complete process, and supplies suitable examples.

Introduction In order to promote training and education in special-needs dentistry an attempt was made to introduce problem-based learning (PBL) as a method of postgraduate dental education. The aim of this paper was to review the principles of PBL and report on a case study using this methodology. Method The case study was of a PBL session, on the subject of ‘problems of obtaining appropriate dental care for people with epilepsy’, undertaken at a national conference. Delegates were asked to complete a pre- and post-session questionnaire on PBL and their attitudes to the session. Results The session received a mixed response. Only 33 (35%) thought the session was valuable and only 20 (31%) thought it was better than conventional teaching methods and yet over half (55%) said they would like to attend more PBL in special-needs dentistry. Professionals complementary to dentistry were more likely to find the PBL session of value and to prefer the method to a more conventional format than dentists were (chi-square=5.5, df=1, p<0.05 and chi-square=5.9, df=1, p<0.05 respectively). Conclusion Valuable feedback was received from delegates. This will enable improvements to be made in future courses so that the effectiveness of PBL can be optimised.

LABURPENA: Teknologiak aurrera egin ahala ingurumenean sortzen diren arriskuen kudeaketa juridikoa erronka zaila izaten da legegilearentzat. Ikusi besterik ez dago zer ahultasun dituen karbono dioxidoaren biltegiratze geologikoari buruzko abenduaren 29ko 40/2010 Legeak, arlo horretako arautegi nagusia denak. Lan honetan, ahultasun horietako batzuk lantzen dira: adibidez, gaiari buruzko berariazko lege bat egin beharra, eskumenen arazoa, instalazio igorle handiek CO2 biltegiratzeko obligaziorik ez izatea, eta Administrazio publikoei erantzukizuna transferitzearen erregulazioa. ABSTRACT: The legal challenges of the enviromental risks management that derive from the technological progress do not always find a suitable answer in the legislator. A good example of it are the inconsistencies in the regulation of the geological storage of carbon dioxide in our country, specialy, by Act 40/2010 of December 29th of geological storage of carbon dioxide. In this work some of those are analyzed as for example the need to draft a specific act on the subject, the controversial issue of competences, the lack of a compulsory imposition to store CO2 to the large emitting facilities and the regulation of the transfer of liabilities to the public administrations.

There are many issues that long time ago was never known, never imagined; now they are true. this reality is meant by contemporary issues. During this time the theme and scope of da'wah only revolves around the problems of hablum minallah (vertical relationship), or in akhhrawi problem; Syahadat, prayer, fasting, hajj and other religious ritual themes. While the theme of other Islamic da'wah, namely hablum minannas (horizontal relationship) is not much touched on, when in fact the scope or theme of da'wah is very broad.
