Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global public health problem, due to the increasing prevalence and incidence of kidney failure, poor prognosis, and required high costs for its treatment. Hypertension as the dominant risk factor for CKD also has a high prevalence which keep increasing in DKI Jakarta. This study aimed to determine the association between hypertension and the incidence of CKD in people aged ≥18 years old in DKI Jakarta Province.Materials and method: This was a quantitative research with an analytic cross-sectional study design. The data source used was secondary data obtained from Basic Health Research (Riset Kesehatan Dasar/Riskesdas) 2018. There were 7,141 samples that matched the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Results: The proportion of CKD and hypertension in people aged ≥18 years old in DKI Jakarta Province were 0.5% and 16.6%, respectively. There was a significant association between hypertension and CKD with a prevalence odds ratio (POR) of 3.140 (95% CI: 1.527-6.453) after being adjusted by the age variable. Several other characteristics such as age (POR = 3.912; 95% CI: 1.932-7.918), diabetes mellitus (POR = 3.412; 95% CI: 1.405-8.285), heart disease (POR = 7.323; 95% CI: 3.158- 16.982), and physical activity (POR = 2.324; 95% CI: 1.148-4.703) were also significantly associated with the incidence of CKD.Conclusion: Someone who has hypertension has 3.14 times (95% CI: 1.527-6.453; p-value = 0.002) chance of suffering from CKD compared to someone who does not have hypertension after being controlled by the confounding variable, age.Keywords: chronic kidney disease, hypertension, DKI Jakarta, Basic Health Research 2018

Kidney disease is a global public health problem, affecting over 750 million people worldwide. Glomerular Filtration Rate(GFR), which is calculated by measuring the creatinine clearance with 24-hour urine collection (CC) can be inaccurate due toimproper urine collection, causing the need for an easier and accurate method of calculation. This study was anobservational analytical cross-sectional research using consecutive retrospective sampling. Samples were data of patientswith Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) who underwent CC test at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of the Dr. Soetomo HospitalSurabaya during September-October 2018. Data were compared with the results of Cockcroft-Gault (CG), MDRD, andCKD-Epi formula, and were analyzed using the one-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, paired T-test, and Wilcoxon SignedRank test. Correlation of CC results with CG, MDRD, and CKD-Epi results was tested with Spearman's rho and Bland Altmantest. The difference test of CC with CG, MDRD, and CKD-Epi showed results of (p=0.000), (p=0.194), and (p=0.468),respectively. There were significant differences between CC compared to CG, but not MDRD and CKD-Epi. There was amoderate correlation between CG, MDRD, CKD-Epi, and CC with r=0.529; 0.448, and 0.463, respectively. The mostcompatible formula was CKD-Epi. The measurement of GFR with CC correlated with CG, MDRD, and CKD-Epi; therefore, theycould be used as an alternative method to calculate GFR. Further experiments using an exogenous marker should beperformed to determine a suitable eGFR formula according to the degree of damage to the kidney.

This research aims to analyze the risk factors associated of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). This research was conducted in Rumah Sakit Umum Cut Meutia (RSUCM) North Aceh. Based on the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 39 Year 2009 regarding the prevention and control of disease not contagious is an attempt to improve the health of the community through activities promotive and preventive. This research is a cross sectional analytic research with a retrospective approach, this research is by searching the previous data. The data used in this study are secondary data at Rumah Sakit Umum Cut Meutia (RSUCM), North Aceh Regency in 2019, which aims to analyze risk factors associated with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). This research was conducted at Rumah Sakit Umum Cut Meutia (RSUCM), North Aceh District from 8 to 9 June 2020. The population included in this study were all patients with chronic kidney disease who received treatment at the Cut Meutia General Hospital in North Aceh Regency for the period January - December 2019 as many as 640 people.There is a relationship between the status of the demographics on the gender with risk the occurrence of disease chronic kidney where p value 0,452. There is relationship between disease comorbid in hypertension with the risk of the occurrence of disease chronic kidney where p value by 0,000. The relationship between disease comorbid in diabetes risk the occurrence of disease chronic kidney where p value by 0,000.

AbstractDiabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most common non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Indonesia. Reportedly that DM is associated with various risk factors. Notably, it seems that the rising prevalence rates reflect changes in urban lifestyle. This study aimed to examine risk differences in the prevalence of DM among men and women aged 15 years and older that lived in urban areas in Indonesia. Analysis used secondary data of 2013 National Basic Health Research, which applied a cross- sectional study design. The total of sample was 333,731 respondents. Data processing and analysis used multiple logistic regression method. In general, findings showed that doctor-diagnosed diabetes mellitus (DDDM) among urban men and women aged 15-39 years did not differ. However, the odds ratio of DDDM among older women aged 50-64 years was 30 times higher than women aged 15-39 years, while among the same age men was 21 times higher than younger men aged 15-39 years (p value < 0.001). In conclusion, entering the age of 50 years, women show a much higher risk of contracting DDDM than women with younger age, also much higher than older men towards younger men. AbstrakDiabetes melitus (DM) adalah salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang paling umum di Indonesia. DM disebabkan berbagai faktor risiko. Peningkatan prevalensi DM salah satunya disebabkan oleh perubahan gaya hidup di perkotaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan prevalensi DM yang didiagnosis dokter pada laki-laki dan perempuan usia 15 tahun keatas yang tinggal di daerah perkotaan di Indonesia. Analisis menggunakan data sekunder Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) 2013 dengan desain studi potong lintang. Total sampel sebanyak 333.731 responden. Metode analisis menggunakan regresi logistik ganda. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa DM yang didiagnosis dokter pada laki-laki dan perempuan usia 15-39 tahun di perkotaan tidak berbeda. Meski demikan, memasuki kurun usia 50-64 tahun, responden perempuan menunjukkan risiko terdiagnosis DM 30 kali lebih tinggi dibandingkan perempuan berusia 15-39 tahun, sementara laki-laki berusia 50-64 tahun berisiko 21 kali lebih tinggi dari laki-laki berusia 15-39 tahun (nilai p < 0,001). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan perempuan dan laki-laki berusia lanjut jauh lebih berisiko didiagnosa DM dibandingkan berusia lebih muda.

Background: Self efficacy can optimize the quality of life of clients who undergo the healing process due to chronic diseases. Individuals with higher self-efficacy move their personal and social resources proactively to maintain and improve the quality and length of their lives so that they experience a better quality of life. Objectives: the purpose of this study was to find the correlation between self efficacy and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis at RSUD Semarang Regency. Metode: This type of research was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The samples in this study more 76 people with total sampling technique. The data collection tool for self efficacy was measured by General Self-Efficacy scale, for quality of life with WHOQoL-BREF. Statistical test used Kolmogorov-smirnov. Result: The result showed that self efficacy in patients with chronic kidney disease was mostly in moderate category (53,9%), quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease was mostly in good category (68,4%). There was a correlation between self efficacy and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis at RSUD Semarang Regency, the result obtained p-value of 0.000 <α (0,05). Suggestion: Patients with chronic kidney disease can maintain good quality of life by helping to generate positive self-esteem and high self efficacy.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an important global public health problem due to its high prevalence and morbidity. Although the treatment of nephrology patients has changed considerably, ineffectiveness and side effects of medications represent a major issue. In an effort to elucidate the contribution of genetic variants located in several genes in the response to treatment of patients with CKD, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of all available pharmacogenetics studies. The association between genotype distribution and response to medication was examined using the dominant, recessive, and additive inheritance models. Subgroup analysis based on ethnicity was also performed. In total, 29 studies were included in the meta-analysis, which examined the association of 11 genes (16 polymorphisms) with the response to treatment regarding CKD. Among the 29 studies, 18 studies included patients with renal transplantation, 8 involved patients with nephrotic syndrome, and 3 studies included patients with lupus nephritis. The present meta-analysis provides strong evidence for the contribution of variants harbored in the ABCB1, IL-10, ITPA, MIF, and TNF genes that creates some genetic predisposition that reduces effectiveness or is associated with adverse events of medications used in CKD.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is defined as a progressive disease that causes renal failure and requires extended and long-term therapies. CKD patients need to choose one of these therapies to improve their quality of life. This study aims to investigate differences in the quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).Design and Methods: The study design used is similar to the cross-sectional design. Therefore, in this study observations were carried out, a EQ_5D life quality questionnaire sheet was administered to respondents, and a purposive sampling method was used. The total number of respondents was 250 and consisted of 125 hemodialysis and CAPD patients each.Results: The results obtained using the Mann Whitney method was a p-value (0.515)> α (0.05). These results also included five components, namely the ability to move/walk to an acceptable degree, adequate self-care, performance of usual activities, minimal amount of pain/discomfort during hemodialysis and CAPD, and acceptable levels of anxiety/sadness.Conclusions: This research concludes that there is no difference in the quality of life between CKD patients  undergoing hemodialysis and CAPD.

Abstract Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global public health problem, which lacks effective treatment. Previously, we have shown that CD103+ dendritic cells (DCs) are pathogenic in adriamycin nephropathy (AN), a model of human focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (Flt3) is a receptor that is expressed with high specificity on tissue resident CD103+ DCs. Methods To test the effect on CD103+ DCs and kidney injury of inhibition of Flt3, we used a selective Flt3 inhibitor (AC220) to treat mice with AN. Results Human CD141+ DCs, homologous to murine CD103+ DCs, were significantly increased in patients with FSGS. The number of kidney CD103+ DCs, but not CD103− DCs or plasmacytoid DCs, was significantly decreased in AN mice after AC220 administration. Treatment with AC220 significantly improved kidney function and reduced kidney injury and fibrosis in AN mice. AC220-treated AN mice had decreased levels of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, CCL2 and CCL5 and reduced kidney infiltration of CD4 T cells and CD8 T cells. The protective effect of AC220 was associated with its suppression of CD103+ DCs-mediated CD8 T cell proliferation and activation in AN mice. Conclusion Flt3 inhibitor AC220 effectively reduced kidney injury in AN mice, suggesting that this inhibitor might be a useful pharmaceutical agent to treat CKD.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its complications are major global public health issues. Vegetarian diets are associated with a more favorable profile of metabolic risk factors and lower blood pressure, but the protective effect in CKD is still unknown. We aim to assess the association between vegetarian diets and CKD. A cross-sectional study was based on subjects who received physical checkups at the Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital from 5 September 2005, to 31 December 2016. All subjects completed a questionnaire to assess their demographics, medical history, diet pattern, and lifestyles. The diet patterns were categorized into vegan, ovo-lacto vegetarian, or omnivore. CKD was defined as an estimated GFR <60 mL/min/1.73 m2 or the presence of proteinuria. We evaluated the association between vegetarian diets and CKD prevalence by using multivariate analysis. Our study recruited 55,113 subjects. CKD was significantly less common in the vegan group compared with the omnivore group (vegan 14.8%, ovo-lacto vegetarians 20%, and omnivores 16.2%, P < 0.001). The multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that vegetarian diets including vegan and ovo-lacto vegetarian diets were possible protective factors [odds ratios = 0.87 (0.77–0.99), P = 0.041; 0.84 (0.78–0.90), P < 0.001]. Our study showed a strong negative association between vegetarian diets and prevalence of CKD. If such associations are causal, vegetarian diets could be helpful in reducing the occurrence of CKD.

Chronic kidney disease is a general term for heterogenous disorders with >3 months duration affecting kidney structure and function. Nowadays, involving 10–16% of the adult population worldwide, chronic kidney disease is recognised as a major global public health problem. The number of cases is continuously increasing.
