Hand is a part of the body that contains lots of microbes. Handwashingis kind of a clean and healthy lifestyle that is aimed to reduce the number of microbes in the hand. The proper handwashing behavior should be begun to be accustomed since in elementary school, but students’ awareness is relatively low. This is alleged because they assumed that their hands look clean. In this community engagement activity on how to wash hands properly, hundred students in national primary school SD Negeri 57 Banda Aceh, Indonesia were involved from March until June 2019 and then ten students were chosen as ambassador of handwashing(ducuta). Two selective media agars were used to grow microbes from the hands of the students before and after hand washing. Several programs (secuta, mocuta, bacuta, and kacuta)were also conducted to measure the success of this activity. There was an increase in understanding the proper way of handwashing from 78% before socialization to 96% after the socialization. The results based on the handwashing activity book (bacuta) showed that 50% of the ducutahave begun to get used to washing their hands properly before eating, after going to the toilet, and after playing recommended by WHO.

Regular physical activity is a very important factor in the healthy development of an individual and an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. However, today's population still suffers from insufficient amount of exercise caused mainly by technical progress and often inappropriate conditions for practicing sports. In relation to this, we are grappling with a steady increase in obesity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, conditions for regular physical activity became even more unfavourable, with the declaration of a state of emergency and anti-pandemic measures leading to the closure of sports grounds and sporting competitions. In our research survey, we attempted to determine whether there would be changes in physical activity and BMI before and after the situation caused by the COVID-19 disease in upper primary school pupils in the Czech Republic. Using a questionnaire survey of a sample of children (n =1456), we found that already before the pandemic, 69% of the observed sample had not met the recommended amount of physical activity and only 67% of the sample was of normal weight. After the end of the anti-pandemic measures, the observed values deteriorated even more. There was a significant decrease in children with normal weight (by 7.5%) and an increase in children with Class 1 obesity. At the same time, we saw a significant decrease in children doing sports.

“Arguing is the stage they’re going through now”: teachers’ beliefs regarding argumentation in the classroom Abstract This article presents the results of an investigation carried out with teachers from municipal schools in Novo Hamburgo-RS, Brasil, concerning the beliefs that they have about working with genres of argumentative domain in the elementary school. The study also shows what the official documents say about the practice of argumentation and the opportunities provided by the textbooks used by the investigated teachers to work with the genres of the argumentation group. The data analyzed resulted from the recordings of study meetings among the coordinators of the research project, the teachers and research assistant students from the under-graduate, as well as the graduate programs. Semi-structures interviews were also conducted with some of the teachers before and after the work they developed. The results show that the little attention given to argumentation in primary school is due in part to the fact that teachers believe students must be mature before they can argue. Besides that, the fact that textbooks prioritize genres of other kinds seems to confirm to the teacher that maturity is a requirement for argumentation. The attentional problems of school children are a crucial topic due to abundant information in this digital era. There are five attention dimensions for children: focused attention, sustained attention, selective attention, alternating attention, and divided attention. Focused training is a traditional method of improving attention ability. Subjects are required to focus on a fixed point for an extensive period without blinking and to perceive small objects as large. This study investigates which types of attention indicators are influenced by focus training. Eighty-two grade five and six elementary school students (45 experiment group, 37 control group) were involved. The experiment group underwent focus training for 12 weeks. The training was conducted once per week, and the Attention Scales for Elementary School Children were used before and after the training to examine the children’s attention. The percentile rank scores of five attention dimensions and the total attention scale were evaluated. The results gave difference data, defined as post-test results minus the pretest results, where significant differences occurred for the total scale (p < 0.05), focused attention (p < 0.05), and selective attention (p < 0.01). Participants also noted that the training helped them improve concentration during school lessons (54.15%), fall asleep (29.1%), and relax the body (8.4%).
