This research did from the low ability phenomena of mathematical communication of SMP in Purwakarta. The low skill ability of mathematical communication can be seen from the lack of students in completing the test of mathematical communication form to provided in the first research, the purpose of this research was to examined the improvement of CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) skill with traditional learning and the methodology of this research using quasi-experimental method which consist of two classes. The first is experiment class treated using CTL and the second is control class treated traditional learning. The population of the research taken was students of SMP Negeri 1 Babakan Cikao and a randomly selected sample of consist of 30 students of class VII A as the experiment. Class and 30 students of class VII D as control class. The instrument of this research used 6 items about mathematical communication description form, that has been tested the validity, reliability and distinguish of power form indexed difficulty. Based on the result of data analysis have concluded that the improvement of mathematical communication ability in SMP Negeri 1 Babakan Cikao by using CTL approach is better than traditional learning.

The purpose of this study is to examine how the improve mathematical communication ability of students in learning using contextual approach. The research method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method, with two different classes taken, where the first class gets the learning with the Contextual Approach and the second class using ordinary learning. The population is all students in one of the islamic junior hight schools in Cimahi city with a sample taken two classes. Both classes were given pretest and early questionnaires to determine their initial ability, then the experimental class was given learning with the contextual approach and the control class was given regular learning, and at the end of both classes were given postes that will on though to use help software SPSS 22 and Minitab 16. Analysis using Product Moment Pearson. The results showed a significan students in learning mathematics.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan pendekatan Problem-Based Learning (PBL) dan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) ditinjau  dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan motivasi belajar siswa dan manakah yang lebih efektif diantara keduanya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Margasari Kabupaten Tegal. Sampel penelitian kelas VIII-A dan VIII-H. Untuk menguji keefektifan pendekatan pembelajaran data dianalisis dengan uji one sample    t- test pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan keefektifan pembelajaran data diukur dengan  uji Hotelling’s Trace pada taraf signifikansi 5% dan selanjutnya digunakan uji independent sample t-testuntuk mengetahui pembelajaran mana yang lebih efektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: pendekatan PBL dan CTL efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan motivasi belajar siswa dan pendekatan PBL lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan pendekatan CTL ditinjau dari motivasi belajar siswa, namun tidak lebih efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis.Kata Kunci:  pendekatan Problem-Based Learning, pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning,   kemampuan komunikasi matematis, dan motivasi belajar siswa. The Effectiveness of PBL Approach and CTL Viewed from Mathematical Communication and Learning Motivation of Students Junior High School  AbstractThis study aims to examine  the effectiveness of Problem Based-Learning (PBL) and Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) viewed from students’ mathematical communication ability and learning motivation and which more effective instruction between PBL approach and CTL approach. This study was quasi experiment research. The population covered all grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Margasari in Tegal Regency.  The sample of class VIII-A and VIII-H. To test the effectiveness of the PBL and CTL approaches, the data were analyzed using the one-sample t-test at the significance level of 5%. To determine differences in the effectiveness of mathematics teaching data were analyzed using Hotteling Trace at the significance level of 5% and followed by independent sample t- test to determine which approach was more effective. The results of this study show that: the PBL approach and CTL is effective to increase students’ communication ability and learning motivation and the PB L approach is more effective than the CTL approach viewed from students’ learning motivation but not more effective viewed from mathematical communication ability .Keywords: Problem-Based Learning approach, Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, mathematical communication ability, student’s learning motivation.

AbstrakMatematika merupakan ilmu abstrak, untuk mempelajarinya diperlukan kemampuan yang memadai. Salah satunya memiliki kemampuan untuk mengkomunikasikannya dalam bentuk ide, simbol, maupun bahasa matematika. Selain itu, komunikasi merupakan bagian yang sangat penting dalam matematika. Untuk mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis diterapkan pembelajaran Group Investigation. Pembelajaran ini menekankan pada keaktifan mahasiswa ketika pembelajaran. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa di salah satu perguruan tinggi swasta di Garut, dengan sampel dua kelas mahasiswa tingkat II yaitu kelas B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas C sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis, yang digunakan pada pretest dan posttest. Analisis data pada hasil pretest diawali dengan uji normalitas kemudian uji Mann Whitney. Sedangkan analisis data pada hasil posttest diawali dengan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, kemudian uji t. Secara garis besar, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis mahasiswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran Group Investigation lebih baik daripada mahasiswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional. AbstractMathematics is an abstract science, to learn it required adequate capability. One of which has the ability to communicate it in the form of ideas, symbols, and math language. Besides, communication is a very important part in mathematics. To develop mathematical communication abilities applied Group Investigations learning. This lesson emphasizes student activeness. Population in this research were students in one private college in Garut, with sample of two classes of students of grade two that is class B as experiment class and C as control class. The instrument used in this research is a test of mathematical communication ability, used in pretest and posttest. Data analysis on pretest result begins with normality test then Mann Whitney test. While data analysis on posttest result begins with normality test, homogeneity test, and t test. In general, the results of this study indicate that the mathematical communication skills of students who get Group Investigation learning better than students who get conventional learning.

ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan untuk menelaah dan menghasilkan kajian tentangimplementasi metode Brainstorming berbantu alat peraga matematika terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental dengansampel yang diteliti sebanyak 72 peserta didik tingkat SMP secara random. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dalam penelitian ini teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen kemampuan komunikasi matematis berbentuk uraian. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan uji-t setelah dilakukan uji prasyarat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan metode Brainstormingerbantu alat peraga lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan yang tidak diajar menggunakan metode Brainstorming berbantu alat peraga. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran Brainstormingberbantu alat peraga dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik dengan kriteria sedang. Kata kunci:metode Brainstorming, alat peraga, kemampuan komunikasi matematis.   ABSTRACT Thestudy aims to determine whether or not there is an implementation of theBrainstorming method assisted aid teaching to the students’mathematical communication ability. Thesample of this research are 72 students. The research used data collection method by using instrument test of mathematical communication ability in the form ofdescription. Data analysis techniques using t-test after the prerequisite test. Based on the results of the study it was found that the average of mathematical communication ability of students taught using the Brainstorming methodassisted props were higher than those not taught using the Brainstorming methodassisted props. It can be concluded that theBrainstorming method assisted props can improve mathematical communication ability of students with medium criteria. AbstrakLatar belakang penelitian ini yaitu fakta bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematik terbukti berperan strategis dalam berbagai kegiatan pembelajaran, termasuk matematika. Tetapi, pencapaiannya belum optimal. Penelitian ini diantaranya bertujuan menemukan sulusi untuk pengembangan kemampuan komunikasi dalam matematika melalui pembelajaran berbasis Take and Give di kalangan mahasiswa agar mempunyai kompetensi untuk berkomunikasi matematika dengan baik sebagai persiapan untuk menjadi guru. Metode kuasi eksperimen digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Adapun populasi yang dipilih yaitu mahasiswa prodi pendidikan matematika pada institut pendidikan swasta di Garut, dengan mahasiswa tingkat IIA dan IIB sebagai sampel dengan jumlah 50 mahasiswa. Penelitian menggunakan instrumen berbentuk tes uraian untuk pretest dan posttest. Dari hasil penelitian secara garis besar diketahui bahwa mahasiswa dengan pembelajaran Take and Give mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang lebih baik daripada pembandingnya yaitu mahasiswa dengan pembelajaran ceramah biasa. Pembelejaran Take and give terbukti signifikan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi matematik. Development of Mathematical Communication Ability through Take and Give LearningAbstractBackground of this study is the fact that mathematical communication ability is proven to be a strategic role in various learning activities, including mathematics. But, the achievement is not optimal. This research included the aim of finding solutions to the development of communication skills in mathematics through Take and Give learning among college students in order to have the competence to communicate mathematics well in preparation for becoming a teacher. This research used The quasi-experimental method. The population chosen is college students of the mathematics department at private education institutes in Garut, with students of level IIA and IIB as a sample with 52 students. The study used a descriptive test instrument for pretest and posttest. Based on the results of this research in broad outline, it is known that students with Take and Give learning have mathematical communication skills that are better than the comparison, namely students with regular lecture learning. Take and give learning proved to be significant in developing mathematical communication skills.

This research is motivated by the importance of mathematical communication ability. Mathematical communication ability of students is still low. In order that this problem can be solved, a learning model that can enhance mathematical communication ability of students is required. In this research, CORE model learning with scientific approach was selected. This study aims to analyze the enhancement of mathematical communication ability. This research was a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The population was students in eighth grade in one of the junior high schools in Jambi.  The sample consisted of two classes which were selected by purposive sampling. The instrument of this research is a test of mathematical communication ability. The data were analyzed by using Independent t-test. Based on the data analyzed, it is found that: The enhancement of mathematical communication ability of students who received the CORE learning model with scientific approach is better than the enhancement of students who received conventional learning.

This study aims to obtain a picture of improving the ability of mathematical communication on the implementation of learning contextual teaching and learning approach viewed from the level of student learning interest. The method used in this research is an experiment with factorial design 3 x 2. The population is all junior high school students in Karawang regency with the subject of the sample is two classes of X in one of SMP Negeri in Kabupaten Karawang. The first class gets learning with contextual teaching and learning, and the second class gets learning by direct learning. From the research, it can be concluded that there are differences in the mathematical communication ability of the students whose learning using Contextual Teaching and Learning learning with direct learning, there is no difference in the improvement of mathematical communication ability among students who have high, medium and low learning interest, there is an interaction between the learning approach and the level interest in learning to improve the ability of mathematical communication, the implementation of learning using Contextual Teaching and Learning learning has been running with the steps that have been determined, the students' difficulties in completing the problem of understanding and mathematical communication lies in the indicator (a) linking a concept/principle with the concept/principle (b) can apply formulas in simple calculations and work on algorithmic calculations, (c) associate a concept/principle with other concepts/principles.

This research is motivated by students' mathematical communication skills that areconsidered still low. This is because the use of learning models or methods is less varied, and the teacher has not linked the subject matter to the everyday context because in teaching only uses one learning source. The study aimed to find out whether there was an effect of the application of the Hypnoteaching method in Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) to the mathematical communication skills of fifth grade students of Elementary School 1 Sukarame. The research method used is Quasi Experimental (Quasy Experimental Design). The population in this research were all sixth grade students of Elementary School 1 Sukarame, amounting to 87 students. The sample in this study uses saturated sampling because the entire population is used as a sample. Students' mathematical communication skills were measured using a test consisting of 8 essay questions, with a reliability index of 0.707. Based on the results of normality, using the Liliefors test and homogeneity, using the Bartlett test, it was found that data from three samples were normally distributed and homogeneous. So that for testing hypotheses can beused Anava test one way with the same cell. Anova test results obtained obtained Fcount = 19.195, while the value of Ftable = 3.105, because Fcount> Ftable then H0 is rejected which means that is a significant influence of Hypnoteaching method in CTL. When H0 was rejected, it was carried out by a double compatibility test with the Schefee method, and from the three treatments it was concluded that the Hypnoteaching method in CTL was better than conventional Hypnoteaching learning methods and conventional learning methods.

This research is motivated by the importance of the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts. Alternative learning to improve these abilities is a learning model of contextual teaching and learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of contextual teaching and learning on the ability to understand mathematical concepts in terms of student motivation. The research design used in this study is Quasi Experimental Design with factorial 2 × 3. Sampling using Cluster Random Sampling technique. The population in this study were all seventh grade students in Bawang 1 State Middle School. The data in this study were obtained from the results of the posttest ability to understand mathematical concepts and student motivation questionnaires. Data processing is done by using the same two-way cell anava calculation followed by the Scheffe 'test and regression test to know the magnitude of the effect. Conclusions from the results of processing the data are 1) The ability to understand mathematical concepts in set material using the contextual teaching and learning learning model provides the ability to understand mathematical concepts that are the same as students with conventional learning models. 2) Students with high motivation have the ability to understand mathematical concepts better than students with low motivation, and students with moderate motivation have the ability to understand the same mathematical concepts as students who have low motivation. 3) There is no difference in students' ability to understand concepts between students who are given a contextual teaching and learning model and conventional on the level of student motivation. 4) Motivation of learning affects the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts in students given the model of contextual teaching and learning. Learning motivation can be used as an alternative to the affective aspect in measuring the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts, especially in set material because motivation affects the ability to understand mathematical concepts of class VII students.

This research is motivated by the results of previous research which shows that students' mathematical communication ability is still not as expected. The focus of this research is to determine the improvement of students' mathematical communication ability as a result of the investigation of the Alberta model learning. This research is experimental research with the population of all students of one of the State Junior High School in Bandung. The sample of the research is the grade VII students of the school. Samples were 73 students, 36 students of experimental class and 37 students of the control class. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) The achievement of mathematical communication ability of students who gain learning inquiry model Alberta better than students who learn conventional, (2) Improve the ability of mathematical communication, the thinking of students who gain learning inquiry model Alberta better than students Gain conventional learning, and (3) there is a difference in improving the ability of mathematical communication thinking based on the category of early mathematical ability.Keywords: Mathematical Communication Ability, Alberta Model Inquiry
