Background/Aim. Millions of soldiers around the world represent one of the most vulnerable populations regarding exposure to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. The programs for HIV prevention remain the most viable approach to reducing the spread of HIV infection. Very few studies have tested the effectiveness of HIV preventive interventions undertaken in military population. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of educational film to transfer knowledge about HIV infection to soldiers. Methods. We performed a quasi-experimental study among 102 soldiers of the Serbian Armed Forces. The experimental intervention consisted of the HIV knowledge pre-questionnaire, watching a film on HIV knowledge, then the post-HIV knowledge questionnaire. The results of pre-and post-HIV knowledge questionnaires were compared. Results. There were 23 questions in the test. The average total score on the questionnaire before watching the film was 18.23 and after watching it was 20.14, which was statistically significant difference (p < 0.001). Conclusions. The results of the study show that viewing a film on HIV infection is an effective method of transferring knowledge about HIV to the Serbian military population.

The purpose of this study was inquiring The Impact of the reciprocal Teaching Strategy on the Development of Achievement in Islamic Education in Seventh Grade Students in Jordan. To achieve goals of this study, a test has been developed to observe the Development of Achievement. The researcher adopted a quasi- experimental approach in which the experimental group consisting of (30) students was taught in accordance with reciprocal Teaching Strategy. At the same time, the controlled group consisting of (30 students) was taught in the traditional way. The tests and the motive measuring was applied prior and post- teaching on both groups. The Analysis of Covariance results (Test- t) indicated a significant difference at (α≤0.05) between the two groups, which is attributed to the reciprocal Teaching Strategy, in developing the Acquiring Concepts in Islamic , of Learning Islamic Education Course for the experimental group. The results also indicated variation in the performance of (the experimental group) students in the posttest of the reciprocal Teaching Strategy (in developing the Academic achievement The study recommended introducing the reciprocal Teaching Strategy in the teaching of Islamic Education Course, and conducting other similar studies in different educational stages.

Introduction/Objective. The development of speech is the result of interaction of different systems of the cortex, which gradually acquires the ability of phonological presentation and motor control, in the presence of a series of physical and physiological changes in the morphology of the articulation system. The objective of the study was to examine the impact of laterality and cortical responses on the development of speech in children. Methods. Research is a quasi-experimental design with two groups. The sample covered 60 children from Belgrade, of both sexes, ages 5.5?7 years, divided into two groups, experimental (30) and control (30). We used the following instruments: test for assessing laterality and ascertaining evoked potentials. Results. On the visual lateralization subtest there was a statistically significant difference (?2 = 7.56, p < 0.05) between the observed groups. The visual evoked potentials on all measured parameters gave a statistically significant difference between the groups: waveform cortical responses ? left (?2 = 30.00, df = 1, p < 0.05); cortical responses ? right (?2 = 6.667, df = 1 , p < 0.05); waveform amplitude ? left (?2 = 13.469, df = 1, p < 0.05); amplitude ? right (?2 = 40.00, df = 1, p < 0.05), somatosensory potentials (?2 = 18.261, df = 1, p <0.05); waveform amplitude (?2 = 12.000, df = 1, p < 0.05); waveform latency (?2 = 5.455, df = 1, p < 0.05). Conclusion. Visual laterality, as well as visual and somatosensory cortical responses to stimuli is better in children without the present articulation disorder, which could be used for timely prevention planning.

Purpose Hyperkalemia more commonly affects patients with a glomerular filtration rate of less than 60 mL/min. Using intravenous (IV) insulin to shift potassium intracellularly may cause hypoglycemia, requiring additional treatment or longer hospitalization. Literature on insulin dosing in this context is limited, with one previous study indicating that 5 units of IV insulin might be as effective and result in less hypoglycemia than the standard dose of 10 units of IV insulin. The hyperkalemia treatment pathway at our institution was revised in May 2018 to include a reduced-dose option (5 units of insulin) for patients with end-stage renal disease. This study aimed to compare the prevalence of hypoglycemia between patients who received standard-dose vs reduced-dose IV insulin. Methods This single-center, retrospective, quasi-experimental study evaluated the impact of revision of the hyperkalemia treatment pathway by assessing rates of hypoglycemia during the 6 months before and after implementation of the revised pathway. The primary endpoint was prevalence of hypoglycemia, defined as a blood glucose level of less than or equal to 70 mg/dL. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the occurrence of hypoglycemia when comparing the pre- and postimplementation groups (36 [17.7%] patients vs 34 [18.7%] patients; P = 0.7924). The postimplementation group had a statistically significant lower reduction in potassium levels after treatment than the preimplementation group (mean [interquartile range], –0.9 [–1.3, –0.5] mEq/L vs –0.6 [–1.2, –0.2] mEq/L; P = 0.0095). Baseline potassium levels were similar between the groups. Conclusion Administration of reduced-dose IV insulin for treatment of hyperkalemia was significantly less effective in lowering serum potassium levels and did not decrease prevalence of hypoglycemia. When accounting for potential confounders, the only variable that was associated with hypoglycemia was pretreatment glucose level.

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of a standardized mental practice tool incorporating principles of video, modeling, and traditional-imagery,on the imagery ability of competitive college sailors. A quasi-experimental method using a quantitative pre-test/post-test design was administered with a convenience sample of collegiate sailors recruited via the Internet. An integrated video-imagery intervention was compared with a traditional verbal intervention to measure each intervention’s impact on imagery ability. The Vividness of Movement Imagery Questionnaire-2 (VMIQ-2) was used to assess external visual imagery, internal visual imagery, and kinesthetic imagery. Exposure to video-imagery resulted in significant improvement of external visual, internal visual, and kinesthetic imagery abilities. There was no significant difference between improvements from video-imagery versus traditional-imagery. Future studies should explore best combinations of imagery and observation techniques, and efficacious elements of each

Background: Recent advances in diagnosis and treatment of cancers have resulted in survival improvement in young patients with cancer. Given the side effects of cancer treatments on the function of the reproductive system, health care providers need to be educated about the side effects of cancer treatment and fertility preservation. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of education on nursing students' knowledge towards fertility preservation methods in patients with cancer. Methodology: This was a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test research study that was carried out by the nursing faculty at Islamic Azad University of Tonekabon in 2018. Data was collected through a two-part questionnaire, including demographic characteristics and 32 questions about the knowledge of fertility preservation in patients with cancer. The study intervention was an educational package which includes 8 sessions of small group education, planning questions, and a booklet. Students were asked to complete the questionnaire before starting an educational session and again two weeks after the last session. Results: The difference in the mean score of the nursing students’ knowledge before and after the educational package intervention was significant (P= 0.0001). Also, the knowledge rank of nursing students after the intervention was significantly better than before (P = 0.0001).  There was a significant difference between the mean score of knowledge based on gender (0.0001), marital status (0.0001) and residency (0.0001). Conclusion: In conclusion, educational intervention towards fertility preservation had a positive effect on nursing students’ knowledge. Therefore, the importance of considering this new approach to fertility preservation in patients with cancer should be considered in the nursing curriculum as they consider as the main resource of the medical information to the patients

Abstract Background Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) remains a significant pathogen in patients with respiratory infections. Guidelines recommend empiric MRSA coverage in patients at increased risk, resulting in substantial vancomycin use. Recent literature highlights the use of MRSA nasal assays as a rapid screening tool for MRSA pneumonia, demonstrating high negative predictive values and allowing for shorter empiric coverage. We aimed to evaluate the impact of MRSA nasal screening review by the antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) on vancomycin utilization for respiratory infections. Methods This was a retrospective, quasi-experimental, pre-post intervention study. The intervention saw the addition of an MRSA screening review tool into the ASP electronic record, highlighting patients on vancomycin (actively or recently administered) with a negative MRSA screening. Vancomycin days of therapy (DOT) was collected for all orders indicated for a respiratory infection in the two weeks following a negative screening. Additional outcomes include vancomycin total dose and DOT per 1,000 patient days. Outcomes were compared via independent samples t-tests. Results 1,110 MRSA screenings resulted across 2 months, of which the majority were excluded for either not having vancomycin ordered, or for having vancomycin ordered for a non-respiratory indication, leaving 37 and 35 evaluable screenings in the pre- and post-intervention groups, respectively. Regarding vancomycin DOT, we did not identify a significant difference between pre- and post-intervention groups with respective means of 2.45 (SD=1.52) and 2.14 (SD=1.12) (p=0.35). We identified a total 8.78 vancomycin DOT per 1,000 patient days in the pre-intervention group versus 6.69 in the post-intervention group. Conclusion ASP-guided review of MRSA screenings was associated with a nonsignificant decrease in mean vancomycin DOT and lower total DOT per 1,000 patient days for respiratory infections following a negative screen. Given the recent implementation of our intervention, our analysis covered a small sample size, highlighting the need for continued data collection. MRSA screenings are not always fully or immediately utilized in our institution, demonstrating room to de-escalate MRSA-targeted antibiotics. Disclosures All Authors: No reported disclosures

<p align="center"><strong>ABSTRAK</strong></p><p><strong>Background:</strong> One of nutritious problems susceptibly encountred in the world nowadays is kid’s stunting. Stunting is a failure of growth condition and cronical nutritious problems caused by poor nutritious supply because of improper meal provisions in long term growth consumptions. Stunting could be primarily prevented by increasing knowledge about stunting prevention through consuming moringa oleifera regularly. <strong>The aim:</strong> This study is intended to know the impact of education on mother’s knowledge for stunting prevention through regular moringa oleifera consumption. <strong>Research Method: </strong>This research applied a quasi experimental design by generating non equivalent control group which complied two groups; 30 subjects (mothers) were considered as treatment group; whereas, other 30 subjects (mothers) were taken as control group. Thus sampling technique applied was consecutive sampling. <strong>Results:</strong> The study showed that there was a significant impact on education score before and after intervention effects towards the treatment group (p=0,000); whereas there was no significant difference on the control group (p=0,184). The statistical analysis applied independent sample t-test which showed if educational aspect significantly impacted on the increase of mother’s knowledge (p=0,000). <strong>Conclusion:</strong> Educational aspect impacted on mother’s knowledge for stunting prevention through moringa oleifera.</p>

Background: Monitoring the adherence of pregnant women to taking iron supplements indicates controlling the appropriateness of taking a certain number of supplements. This increases the odds of effective iron absorption; a process that occurs by consuming at least 30 iron pills a month to prevent gestational anemia. This study aimed to determine the effects of monitoring pregnant women’s compliance in taking up iron supplements through an Android application in Jambi City, Indonesia. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental single group study with a pre-test-post-test design. The study subjects included 50 pregnant women in their third trimester referring to 3 maternity Hospitals in Jambi City, Indonesia, in 2020. Initial data were obtained through Hemoglobin (Hb) measurements before being given a monitoring application and subsequent Hb level checks after giving the application. The obtained data were analyzed by t-test and Mann-Whitney U test in SPSS v. 16. A significance level of 5% was considered. Results: The results obtained in the initial examination indicated that the minimum Hb level was equal to 7.3 g/dL and the maximum level was measured as 11.2 g/dL. After the intervention, the Hb level increased to a minimum of 7.6 g/dL and a maximum of 12.2 g/dL. The Mann-Whitney U test data suggested a significant difference in the degree of compliance of pregnant women with iron supplementation (P=0.010). Conclusion: Monitoring through the Android application increased pregnant women’s compliance with taking iron supplements and presented a linear impact on increasing their Hb level.

Indonesian students' creative thinking skill is still at a low level. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of project collaborative model assisted by Google Classroom (PjCM-GC) in improving students' creative thinking skills. This research explored the differences between students who learned through the demonstration model (DM), project collaborative model (PjCM), and project collaborative model assisted by Google Classroom (PjCM-GC). It was a quasi-experimental with pre and post-test design. The population of this research was students at Senior High School, Lombok Timur-Indonesia. Random sampling technique was employed in this study. The sample was 86 science students grade XI (15-16 ages) who studied in SMAN 1 Aikmel. The data analyzed by paired-sample t-test, comparative-descriptive analysis, and ANOVA mixed design using SPSS 24. The study showed that The PjCM-GC group had a significant difference in the level of creative thinking skills (sig .0000). The PjCM-GC was the most effective model to improve the skills with a gain score of .47 (medium). Learning with the PjCM-GC model can be an alternative for policymakers and teachers to solve the problems of creative thinking.

Background: Women of all races and ethnicities have the possibility of developing cervical cancer. Cervical cancer has continued to be а significant issue in public health worldwide. Aim: To assess the impact of а cervical cancer educational program on the awareness, attitude, and practice of working women at the University of Port Said. Subject & Methods; Design: Α quasi-experimental design. Setting: The study conducted at Port Said University faculties; Subjects: 260 working women at Port Said University, who accepted to participate in the study. Results: The mean age of the females surveyed was 37.22±11.00 years. There has been а general increase in the awareness, practice, and attitude of the studied women about cervical cancer during the different measurement periods compared with before the program; with а highly statistically significant difference at р-values <0.001. There was a positive highly statistical significant correlation (р<0.001) between total knowledge and attitude scores as well as total knowledge and practice scores at different times of assessment. Conclusion: The implementation of educational program led to significant improvements in women's knowledge, practices, and attitude. Recommendations: The study can be replicated on а larger sample in different settings. More rigorous researches are required to explore the long-term impact of these programs and to plan an individualized educational system in formulating their educational program.
