This study aimed to analyze and describe the lexical density and readability in English for Junior High School VIII textbook. It was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The textbook was published by Mediatama. It is used for the eighth grade of students in junior high school. The researcher used seven reading texts as the data. The lexical density was tested by using Ure’s formula and the readability was tested by using Flesch Reading Ease Formula. The result showed that the lexical density of the reading texts in English for Junior High School VIII textbook is above 40% which indicates that it has high lexical density. Lexical items (nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) play important role to influence the density of a text. The more lexical items in a text, the higher lexical density percentage will be and it also affects the readability of the reading texts. Then, the result also showed that the average readability score is 66 which falls into standard level. It indicates that the reading texts are readable for 8th grade students of junior high school but they still need teacher’s assistance to comprehend the texts. Keywords: Lexical Density, Readability, Flesch Reading Ease Formula.

This study deals with lexical density of English reading texts in the textbook of junior high school. The objectives of the study are to find out the lexical density of reading texts of English in Focus textbook, the text which has the highest lexical density in the reading texts, and the reason of the text which has the highest lexical density in reading texts. This study was conducted by descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research were the English reading texts of English in Focus textbook for ninth grade students of junior high school published by National Education Department. The result of the analysis showed that: (1) The lexical density of procedure texts are 5.90, 5.08, 5.5, and 4.69, report texts are 5.92, 4.22, 4.06, and 3.64 and narration texts are 2.92 and 2.90. The score showed that the lexical density of eleven reading texts on English in Focus textbook for ninth grade of junior high school is categorized medium based on the Halliday’s theory. It means that the texts are not difficult, easy to understand and suitable for ninth grade students of junior high school. (2) The highest lexical density of the reading texts is report text entitled “The Chinese Influence in Indonesian Visual Art” (5.92) because of the higher number of lexical items than grammatical items, few clauses and more vocabularies of words. (3) Report text has the highest lexical density because of the high proportion of lexical items in the text and it also because of the generic structure, language features and the style of writing report text.

This study aims to find out the lexical density and grammatical intricacy of English reading texts in the textbook for the 1st grade of junior hih school to measure the difficulty of the text. The objectives of the study are to find out the lexical density and grammtical intricacy which formed in the reading texts of English in Focus Textbookwhich has the highest both of lexical density and grammatical intricacy. This study was conducted by descriptive method with qualitative research. The data of this research were the English reading texts of English in Focus Textbook for First Junior High School. The data were text analyzed by using Halliday’s theory. The result of this study; 1).Lexical density formed of the texts was high based on Halliday’s theory that the texts had more lexical item than grammatical item, Text 1 was 57.31%, Text 2 was 70.83%, Text 3 was 68.75%, Text 4 was 61.36%, Text 5 was 58.82%, Text 6 was 60.86%, Text 7 was 69.23%, Text 8 was 71.42%. Grammatical Intricacy formed of the texts was high based on Halliday’s theory that the texts had more complex clauses than simple clause, Text 1 was 7, Text 2 was 4, Text 3 was 2.16, Text 4 was 2, Text 5 was 1.08, Text 6 was 1.75, Text 7 was 2, Text 8 was 2. 2).Lexical density influences the difficulty of reading texts if it has higher proportion of lexical items than grammatical items. While grammaticcal intricacy also influences the difficulty of reading texts if it has higher proportion of complex clauses in comparison with simple clauses. 3).The length of the sentence did not influence the grammatical intricacy of the texts but the more complex clauses and content carrying lexical items could make the reader difficult to process the texts.

The aims of this research were to know whether the reading texts found in “English On Sky” textbook  for 8th Grade of Junior High School were appropriate and meet the content of the curriculum or not by analyzing the lexical density of its texts and identifying the type of reading text which should be given based on the KTSP curriculum. The research design used was descriptive qualitative research. The instrument of this research was document which was get from collecting the reading texts found in the textbook. The data in this study was analyzed quantitatively in the form of description and used descriptive statistics for describing the features of data. The result of this result was there was no reading text in the textbook that was categorized as high lexical density. The readi ng texts were categorized as low and moderate lexical density as there were 12 reading texts were categorized as low lexical density and 12 reading texts were categorized as moderate lexical density. 12 reading text that categorized as low lexical density had 40% - 50% lexical density percentage. On the contrary 12 reading texts that categorized as moderate lexical density had 50% - 60% lexical density percentage. The highest percentage of the lexical density reading text found in the textbook was 57.72% entitled “Camping”. Meanwhile, the lowest percentage of the lexical density reading text was 41.61% entitled “None of your business!”. Based on the analysis, the genre found in this textbook were descriptive, recount, and narrative. In conclusion, this textbook were easy enough to understand for student and met the content of school-based curriculum.   Keywords: Descriptive Qualitative Research, Discourse Analysis, Lexical Density, Reading Text

This study focused on the readability of reading texts in English textbooks for grade VIII students in Medan in the academic year of 2015/2016. This study attempted to find out whether the English reading texts were appropriate or not in terms of the readability level for the target students. This study was categorized as descriptive qualitative research. The source of the data were six reading texts which consist of descriptive, recount and narrative texts selected from three English textbooks entitled English for Junior High School VIII published by Mediatama, English on Sky 2 published by Erlangga, and English in Focus published by Pusat Perbukuan Departemen Pendidikan Nasional, for grade VIII in Medan which were designed under guidance of Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP). The Dale and Chall original formula was used to analyze the data from the textbooks. The findings of the study showed that the average readability score of the six texts in English in Focus textbook was 6.0. It indicated that the reading texts in English in Focus textbook is appropriate for the eighth grade students since it’s level is for the seventh and eighth grade. The average readability score of reading texts in English on Sky and English for Junior High School VIII textbook were 5.7 and 5.5. The scores indicated that the reading texts in both English on Sky and English for Junior High School VIII textbook were too easy for the eighth grade students since the textbooks’ level was for the fifth and sixth grade.

This research aims to find out whether texts in the English National Examination at Junior High School. Conform with students' readability level or not. This research is research that uses quantitative methods. It aims to investigate the readability of the texts used in the English national examination texts for junior high school students. Subjects are 8 texts used in the English national examination texts. The instrument used to collect data is the Flesch Reading Ease readability formula. The results of the study it was found that the reading text on the National Examination test was not suitable for junior high school students. Based on the readability formula for the eight reading texts, there are 4 texts in the very easy category, in the easy category there is 1 text, in the quite difficult category there is 1 and there are only 2 reading texts that are suitable for students who are included in the standard category and are fairly easy. For those interested in studying readability, besides Flesch reading ease formula. The writer hopes this research can give more information for further research. The author expected to pay attention to producing better texts which suitable with the level of the students’ readability as the good text can help students to get a high score.

The aim of the research is to determine the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques to increase learning motivation in students of State Islamic Junior High School 6 Bantul. The type of research is experimental research. The research design uses quasi-experiment. The design uses Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The research population was 8th grade students of State Islamic Junior High School 6 Bantul, amounting to 149 students. The sampling technique in the research used purposive sampling. The criteria for determining the sample in the research are students of State Islamic Junior High School 6 Bantul at 8th grade which indicated to have low learning motivation. The data collection method uses a scale of learning motivation that has gone through validation processes. Data analysis using non-parametric statistics with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that there were differences in the results of the experimental group's learning motivation before (M=72.17) and after (111.67) the treatment was given (p=0.027<0.05). These results can be concluded that cognitive restructuring techniques are effective to increase students learning motivation.

The humanistic learning was done by emphasizing student-centered learning on natural and social phenomena. Unfortunately, only a few schools can realize humanist learning due to a variety of reasons and considerations. Budi Mulia 2 is one of the schools in Yogyakarta, Indonesia that realize humanistic social studies learning by providing a wide opportunity for students to seek information and reconstruct knowledge independently. The research aims to investigate the implementation of humanistic learning at junior high school in district of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The study was directing the survey method with sample of 63 students of 8th grade. Sample selection done by purposive sampling, because the social studies learning in its class carried out by humanists. Data analysis techniques were carried out with descriptive statistics to find the central tendency. The humanistic social studies learning at Budi Mulia 2 supported by the school’s vision and mission which view each individual as a unique personality. In that context, teachers use learning methods that place students as the subjects, thus allowing them to learn, explore and seek information independently. In general, Budi Mulia 2 students feel that the school has provided adequate facilities to support their learning activities. Teachers have given serious attention by providing support, motivation, and serving the students as well as possible.

This research was conducted in the textbook of 8th grade Junior High School 2013 revision of the 2017 curriculum. The researcher conducted a textbook analysis based on Anderson and Krathwohl's (2001) taxonomic theory of the cognitive domain and Simpson's (1972) psychomotor domain taxonomy to focus more on its relevance to the material in the textbook. This research aims to investigate the representation of cognitive and psychomotor domains in English textbook for the 8th years of Junior High School students with the Core and Basic Competencies of the 2013 curriculum. This research used a content analysis method based on Anderson and Krathwohl theory. The instrument used to collect data in this research was through data observation and document review. The findings of this research reveal that the contents of the book are in accordance with the 2013 revised curriculum syllabus 2017. The results of the research on the cognitive domain showed that it was 100% relevant to the contents of the syllabus and 92.3% of the Psychomotor domain was relevant to the contents of the syllabus.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani untuk siswa yang layak dan efektif untuk digunakan dan dapat digunakan sebagai solusi pembelajaran Pendidikan Jasmani khususnya pada materi kesehatan reproduksi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (RnD) dengan langkah-langkah penelitian sebagai berikut: 1) studi pendahuluan, 2) analisis terhadap informasi, 3) Menyusun draft awal, 4) validasi ahli 5) Revisi Draft, 6) uji coba terbatas, 7) uji coba skala besar, 8) Revisi Produk Akhir, 9) Uji Efektivitas dan 10) diseminasi produk hasil pengembangan. Uji coba terbatas dilakukan pada siswa kelas 8 SMP Negeri 2 Purwokerto berjumlah 28 siswa. Uji coba skala besar dilakukan pada siswa kelas 8 SMP Negeri 1, 2 dan 8 Purwokerto berjumlah 90 siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menghasilkan model pembelajaran yang terdiri dari tiga tahapan metode pembelajaran meliputi 1) Studi Kasus, 2) Edukasi dan 3) Visualisasi. Berdasarkan penilaian beberapa ahli yaitu materi, media dan bahasa serta ahli pembelajaran dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani yang dihasilkan layak untuk digunakan pada proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil uji efektivitas disimpulkan bahwa model yang dikembangkan efektif untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa dan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran siswa tentang kesehatan reproduksi. Kata Kunci: pengembangan, model pembelajaran, pendidikan jasmani, kesehatan reproduksi  Abstract This study aims to produce physical education learning models for students that are feasible and effective to use and can be used as learning solutions for Physical Education especially on reproductive health material. The research method used is Research and Development (RnD) with the following research steps: 1) preliminary study, 2) analysis of information, 3) Preparing initial drafts, 4) expert validation 5) Revised Draft, 6) limited trials , 7) large scale trials, 8) Final Product Revisions, 9) Effectiveness Tests and 10) dissemination of products resulting from development. Limited trials were conducted on 8th grade students of Junior High School 2 Purwokerto totaling 28 students. Large scale trials were conducted on 8th grade students of Junior High School 1, 2 and 8 Purwokerto totaling 90 students. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive analysis. This study produced a learning model consisting of three stages of learning methods including 1) Case Study, 2) Education and 3) Visualization. Based on the assessment of several experts, namely material, media and language and learning experts, it can be concluded that the physical education learning model produced is feasible to be used in the learning process. Based on the results of the effectiveness test, it was concluded that the model developed was effective in increasing students 'knowledge and could increase students' awareness of reproductive health. Keywords: Development, learning models, physical education, reproductive health

This study is a type of Classroom Action Research (CAR) which aimed to improve students' attitudes, skills and knowledge on additives and addictive substances using Discovery learning model. This study was conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle consists of 4 stages: planning, action, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were eighth grade students of As Shiddiqiyah Junior High School in the first semester with a total of 30 students. Data analysis was carried out with quantitative descriptive techniques. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the attitude of students in the learning process had increased, it was known from the results of the average classroom observations in the first cycle was 68.15 which had an increase in the second cycle to 81.14. The skills of students in the first cycle obtained an average yield of 71.36 which increased in cycle II to 84.11. The results of the written test in the first cycle of students' cycles were 59.61 in the second cycle to 81.07. The percentage value in the cycle is 31%, and increases in cycle II by 82%. Based on this study, classical achievement had exceeded 75%, it can be concluded that there is an increase in learning outcomes from the attitudes, skills and knowledge of students in additives and addictive substances in 8th grade As Shiddiqiyah Junior High School.                                                                 Keywords: Discovery Learning, Attitudes, Skills, Knowledge, Additives and Addictive Substances Abstrak. Tujuan untuk meningkatkan sikap, keterampilan dan pengetahuan siswa pada materi zat aditif  dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning. Metode penelitian menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus, tiap siklusnya terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP As Shiddiqiyah semester I Tahun pelajaran 2018/2019 dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 30 orang. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif.  Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh ranah sikap siswa pada proses belajar mengalami peningkatan, diketahui dari hasil observasi rata-rata kelas pada siklus I adalah sebesar 68,15 mengalami peningkatan di siklus II menjadi 81,14.  Keterampilan siswa pada siklus I memperoleh hasil rata-rata sebesar 71,36 mengalami peningkatan disiklus II menjadi 84,11. Hasil tes tertulis siswa disiklus I nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh adalah 59,61 di siklus II menjadi 81,07. Nilai persentase di siklus sebesar 31% , dan meningkat di siklus II sebesar 82%. Berdasarkan penelitian ini pencapaian klasikal telah melampaui 75% , dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan hasil belajar dari sikap, keterampilan dan pengetahuan siswa pada materi zat aditif dan zat adiktif dikelas VIII SMP As Shiddiqiyah dalam kategori baik sekali. Kata Kunci: Discovery Learning, Sikap, Keterampilan, Pengetahuan, Zat Aditif dan Zat Adiktif.
