This study is based on the experience gained over the period of March 2020- December 2020 when the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic forced millions of students of secondary and higher schools to shift almost overnight to distant or remote learning. Our paper predominately focuses on pedagogical aspects that are required to make online learning more attractive and motivating for students.  We carried out a survey of 27 teachers of the Department of foreign languages of the Faculty of Economics at of RUDN University aged 25-67 to find out   what advantages and disadvantages of online learning they found and what was the role of rapport during on-line learning. The obtained results point out that rapport remains important in distant learning and part of the teachers consider that its role increased because of the absence of face-to-face communication.

Understanding the psychosocial classroom environment has been important in both traditional face-to-face courses and online education. Trickett and Moos (1974) pioneered the use of post-course self-report instruments to measure the classroom environment through the Classroom Environment Scale. More recently, Taylor and Maor (2000) developed the Constructivist On-Line Learning Environment Survey (COLLES) to examine the students’ perceptions of online learning environment in light of social constructivist pedagogical principles. The 24-item, Likert-type COLLES instrument is a popular measure for examining online learning environments for a least two reasons. First, it measures the online learning environment along constructivist categories, which makes it in line with the dominant pedagogical philosophy for online instruction. Second, the COLLES instrument is freely included in the Survey Module of Moodle, the most popular open source course management system available. This makes it particularly convenient for online instructors to use COLLES in their teaching and research.

In order to prevent transmission of Covid-19, the government and universities agreed to temporarily stop face-to-face lectures and replace them with distance learning in the form of online lectures. Even so, the implementation of distance learning in the form of online lectures has different characteristics from face-to-face lectures, because the role of students in online learning is far greater than the role of students in face-to-face lectures so that they require self-directed learning readiness from students so that distance learning is done can be effective. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on students' self-directed learning readiness in attending online lectures during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used in this study is a survey, a survey conducted on 78 students. The results showed that students 'self-directed learning readiness was still at a moderate stage, so it was necessary to make an effort to identify students' self-directed learning needs and to arrange a more complete online learning schedule.

Article is devoted to a search for an optimal format of blended distance learning. The questioning of distance learning students of Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel was used as a main research method. One discipline from the academic learning program was studied using e-learning technology (on-line classes) whereas (while) others disciplines were studied using traditional classroom face-to-face learning technique. Thus, students using blended distance learning have opportunity to compare and estimate efficiency together with advantages of both educative techniques. On-line classes were held in the period between sessions using BigBlueButton program. It was found that student majority estimate blended distance learning as most efficiency learning technique; half of questioning students consider that the quality of face-to-face and on-line learning is equal. The main advantages and disadvantages of e-learning were analyzed. Highest student attendance of on-line classes between sessions in comparison with face-to-face classes during session time was found. Optimal amount of disciplines for on-line learning to organize blended distance learning were established. Best regime, time and intensity for on-line classes were determined. Results of these investigations may be useful to organize optimal format of blended distance learning as well as to choose subjects for on-line learning and to create comfortable schedule of distance classes.

Information technology has created tremendous chances in higher education across the globe. With the availability and flexibility of learning online, there are increasing competitions between online learning and traditional, face-to-face classroom. These two types of learning both have their pros and cons. From the advantages and disadvantages of online learning, universities have recently changed the way of their teaching through combining online learning and traditional classroom. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and understand the advancements of the combination of the two types of learning. In this paper, we will introduce the advantages and disadvantages of online learning and the combined learning. We also share our experience on teaching at Flinders University, South Australia through Flinders learning online system. From this knowledge, we will suggest some solutions about building a combined learning system which is suitable for Vietnamese universities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on all areas of life, including education. The education system, which was originally face-to-face, had to be replaced with online learning. Various problems arise related to the implementation of the Distance Learning or PJJ system. This system makes parents have to participate more in supervising as well as being a substitute for teachers at home in the learning process of their children. In addition, homeschooling also raises problems where students find it difficult to understand the material given by the teacher. The decrease in enthusiasm for learning becomes a problem when the PJJ system seems monotonous and boring. To support the government's program in breaking the chain of the spread of COVID-19 without reducing the effectiveness of online learning implemented by the Ministry of Education and Culture, this activity was carried out. This activity is expected to help reduce the anxiety of parents who are afraid that their children are not serious and have difficulty in learning. In addition, it is hoped that this activity will help participants to easily understand the material that has not been mastered. The methods of socialization, demonstration, and mentoring are carried out directly. The success of this activity can be seen from the assistance of the participants in solving the problems faced and the enthusiasm of the participants during the activity.
