This research with a quantitative approach aims to determine whether the use of diary writing strategy is effective to improve writing skill in recount text of eighth grade students at MTS Negeri 2 Palu. The population in this research were students at MTS Negeri 2 Palu and the sample was students in grades VIII A and B with a total sample of 70 students. However, due to the pandemic ccovid-19with all the limitation, the researcher only obtained 24 students as the samples who took the test in this research. In this research the researcher used a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique using test, namely pre-test and post- test. The technique of data analys is that the researcher used is the t-test. The results of the data analysis showed that t-count is and t-table (t-count10,632 > t-table1,796). It means the results of the research showed that there is improvement in the eighth grade students’ writing skill in recount text after the implementation of Diary writing strategy at MTS Negeri 2 Palu.

Writing skill is one of the skills that is difficult to learn because we have to know the correct sentence composition and also what we hear must be in accordance with what we write and therefore this skill is very important to learn. The objective of the research is to identify the sudents’ responses toward think talk write (TTW) strategy in teacihng writing skill. The research used descriptive qualitative design. The respondents of this research were eighth grade students of SMP Pasundan 1 Cimahi. The instrument of this research was questionnaire. The result of data analysis shows that students gave positive responses toward TTW strategy. The respondents agree that TTW strategy can increase students’ motivation, TTW Strategy can help students in improving their writing skill and TTW strategy can make teaching and learning process interesting. Keywords:  Writing, Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy, Student’s Responses

The influence of multimedia usage on PG-PAUD student concept understanding in cognitive development and creativity course of early childhood has been done on PG-PAUD Student semester three in Palembang Sriwijaya University. The type of research used is experiment with One Shoot Case Study descriptions, with sampling technique that is purposive sampling. The sample in the pre-experiment class is 27 and the post-test class is 28. The data collection technique is written essay, interview and documentation. Result of data analysis obtained is 80,71, while result of hypothesis test based on t-test obtained t_hitung> t_table or got t_count = 6,76> t_table = 4,83, hence Ho refused and Ha accepted, thus there influence multimedia usage to understanding the concept of PG-Paud students in courses of cognitive development and creativity of early childhood. With assessment indicators Redefining a concept, Classifying objects according to certain traits according to their concepts, Providing examples of concepts, Using, utilizing and selecting specific procedures. So the use of multimedia to understanding the concept of the students is very influential to improve understanding of the concept.

AbstrakTujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa kelas VIII SMP SATAP 48 OKU menulis puisi sebelum diterapkan model pembelajaran Concept Sentence, untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa kelas VIII SMP SATAP 48 OKU menulis puisi setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran Concept Sentence, dan mengetahui efektifitas model pembelajaran Concept Sentence terhadap pembelajaran menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMP SATAP 48 OKU. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksprimen. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah tes menulis puisi dan teknik analisis data adalah uji t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil belajar siswa kelas VIII SMP SATAP 48 OKU setelah menggunakan model pembelajaran Concept Sentence lebih baik daripada sebelum menggunakan model pembelajaran Concept Sentence.Kata-kata kunci: Keefektifan,  concept sentence, menulis puisi. AbstractThe objectives in this study were to describe the ability of grade VIII students of SMP SATAP 48 OKU to write poetry before applying the Concept Sentence learning model, to describe the ability of grade VIII students of SMP SATAP 48 OKU to write poetry after the Concept Sentence learning model was applied, and know the effectiveness of the Concept Sentence learning model on learning to write poetry for eighth grade students of SMP SATAP 48 OKU. The method used in this research is the experimental method. The data collection technique is the poetry writing test and the data analysis technique is the t test. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the learning outcomes of the eighth grade students of SMP SATAP 48 OKU after using the Concept Sentence learning model are better than before using the Concept Sentence learning model.             Key words: Effectiveness, concept sentence, writing poetry.

The objectives of this research were to find out : whether or not the use of Reading Circles increase students speaking skill.This research employed Pre-experimental method that applied monolingual class. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students in academic year 2015-2016. There were 236 students spread in 8 classes ( XI AK.1, XI AK.2, XI AK.3, XI ADM.1 , XI ADM.2, XI ADM.3, XI TN.1 and XI TN.2) and each class consist appropriately 28-30 students. The researcher took cluster random sampling technique and chose XI ADM.1 as the representative and the number of total sample is 28 students.The data of the research were collected by using two kinds of instruments, namely speaking test. Speaking test (interview) was used to obtain data of the students’ speaking skill.The result of data analysis showed that there was significant difference between the students’ score after they were taught by using Reading Circles and before they were taught by Reading Circles. It was proved by the mean score of the post-test which was higher than the mean score of pre-test (78.50>47.25). Furthermore, the result of the p-value was lower than α (0.000<0.05) which means that H1 was accepted. Based on data analysis, the research concluded that : the use of Reading Circles increase students’ speaking skill at SMK Negeri 1 Pancarijang

The aim of the study was to examine the effectiveness of eclectic method to improve students’ writing skill at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Keruak, focusing on (1) Is eclectic method effective in writing skill at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Keruak in the academic year 2016-2017? and (2) How is the effectiveness of the eclectic method to improve students’ writing skill at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Keruak in the academic year 2016-2017?. The design of this research was a pre-experimental pre-test and post-test research. It means this research only applied the eclectic method to the experimental group that consisted of 36 students. The sample of the study was taken by using cluster random sampling technique. In gaining pre-test and post-test data, the students required to do the individual task in writing the monolog text of recount based on the material that was learnt before. Then the pretest and post-test data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics and Paired Sample t-test to test the hypothesis. Having collected and calculated the data by using descriptive statistics, it was found out that descriptive statistic results showed that the mean score of the pre-test was 7.21 while the mean of the post-test was 9.25. The result of hypothesis testing by using Paired-Sample t-test was t(27) = 11.68 at p = .000. It was lower than .05 so it means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In other word that the use of eclectic method was significantly effective in writing skill to the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Keruak in the academic year 2016-2017.

This research aimed to find out the Auction Grammar Game in improving students’ understanding on simple present tense. This research used pre-experimental method. The population of this research was the whole eighth grade students of SMP Katolik Belibis Makassar which consists of 29 students. By using total sampling technique, this class was taken as a sample which consists of 29 students. Sample of this research was the same with the population because there was only one class for the eighth-grade students of SMP Katolik Belibis Makassar. The data were analyzed by using SPSS Program. The result of this research found that students’ understanding on simple present tense was improved significantly. It can be seen in the result of the students’ mean score in post-test that was higher than pre-test (78.79>35.52). in addition, t-test value was higher than t-table (20.657>2.048). It can be concluded that the Auction grammar game improves students’ understanding on simple present tense.

Understanding the concept is a benchmark students can proceed to the next stage in the learning process. Van Hiele's thinking stage is a solution to direct students to the actual concept of geometry. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an increase in understanding of the geometrical concepts of eighth grade students of SMPN 8 Langsa through Van Hiele thinking stages. This study used a One Group Pretest-Posttest Desaign research design. With a population of all eighth grade students of SMPN 8 Langsa, the sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique, namely grade VIII1 students. The instrument uses the ability to understand the ability of geometric concepts in the form of a description consisting of 6 questions. From the results of the calculation of the percentage of students understanding the concept of geometry shows an increase of 48%. The results of data analysis obtained that count> ttable is 12.59> 2.08, this means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so the conclusion obtained is that there is an increase in understanding of students' geometry concepts through the stages of van hiele thinking at SMPN 8 Langsa.

This final project was based on research which attempted to examine the Effectiveness of Using Animated Films in Improving Students’ Writing Skill of Narrative Text. The main objectives of this research was to find out whether the use of animated film can be effective in teaching writing narrative text to the students of Mts Al-Hadi Girikusumo Mranggen. This research was a quasi-experimental research. The population of the final project was limited of the eighth grade students of MTs Al-Hadi Girikusumo Mranggen in the Academic year 2014/2015 in the second semester. There were 40 students as the sample. They were divided into two groups and they did three types of activities; pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data were collected through a writing test. The analytical score based on the elements of writing processed the data analysis. The result of t-test in post-test shows a significant difference in the achievement between two groups. From the calculation enclosed the mean of post-test of the experimental group was higher than the control group that was 60.5>39.6, it means that the achievement of the experimental group was higher than the control group. Based on the data analysis, the researcher concludes that the strategy of using animated films in teaching narrative text writing seemed to be applicable for the eighth grade students of MTs AL-Hadi Girikusumo Mranggen in academic year 2014/2015, since the strategies also help students to solve their problems in writing a text. The researcher suggests that English teacher use this method as an additional method to anticipate students’ boredom during writing class. In additional, this method improved students’ fluency in writing English because it was used to write the history.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hasil karya menggambar ilustrasi hombo batu Nias dengan teknik arsir ditinjau dari komposisi, Proporsi dan gelap terang karya siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Gunungstitoli Utara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh karya siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara dengan jumlah 144 karya dan sampel penelitian yaitu kelas VIII-A yang berjumlah 29 karya dengan menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analisis karya menggambar ilustrasi hombo batu Nias siswa kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara rata-rata mendapatkan kategori Cukup dengan total 25 Karya, sedangkan mendapatkan kategori Baik total 2 karya. Dan 2 karya siswa pada kategori Kurang. Pada hasil rekapitulasi nilai karya gambar ilustrasi hombo batu Nias indikator Komposisi mendapatkan kategori Cukup dengan nilai rata-rata 78,9. Indikator Proporsi mendapatkan kategori Cukup dengan nilai rata-rata 78,6. Dan indikator Gelap-terang mendapatkan kategori Cukup dengan hasil nilai rata-rata 79,9. Dengan demikian kelemahan hasil karya siswa kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara terletak pada indikator Proporsi, dan  dari 29 karya siswa yang menonjol  adalah indikator Gelap Terang. Selanjutnya nilai terttinggi pada karya siswa dengan mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 86 pada karya nomor 23. Sedangkan nilai terendah pada karya siswa dengan hasil nilai rata-rata 74 pada karya nomor 28.Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa hasil karya gambar ilustrasi hombo batu Nias SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara dikatakan cukup baik, karena terdapat kelemahan penerapan indikator proporsi, namun nilai lebih pada indikator Komposisi dan Gelap Terang.Kata Kunci: hombo batu nias.AbstractThis study aims to analyze the work of drawing illustrations of Nias stone hombo with shading techniques in terms of composition, proportion and darkness of the work of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Gunungstitoli Utara. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara with a total of 144 works and the study sample was class VIII-A, amounting to 29 works using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. The results showed that the analysis of works drawing illustrations of Nias stone hombo class VIII-A students at SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara on average received the category of Enough with a total of 25 works, while getting the Good category a total of 2 works. And 2 students' work in the Less category. In the recapitulation of the value of the Nias stone hombo illustration illustration, the Composition indicator gets the Fair category with an average value of 78.9. Proportion Indicators get the Fair category with an average value of 78.6. And the Dark-light indicator gets the Fair category with an average score of 79.9. Thus the weaknesses of the work of VIII-A students of SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara are in the Proportion indicator, and of the 29 outstanding student works are Dark Light indicators. Furthermore, the highest value in the work of students by getting an average value of 86 in the work number 23. While the lowest value in the work of students with an average value of 74 in the work number 28. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the results of the Nias hombo illustration illustration works SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara is said to be quite good, because there are weaknesses in the application of the proportion indicator, but more value in the composition of the Dark and Composition indicator. This research is aimed: 1) To insvestigate the students ability in written descriptive text taught without playing card in the case of eighth grade students of SMP 4 Semarang in academic year 2013/2014. 2) To insvestigate the students ability in written descriptive text taught by using playing card in the case of eighth grade students of SMP 4 Semarang in academic year 2013/2014. 3) To know the significances between students ability in written descriptive text taught without playing card and taught by using playing card. The final paper used descriptive quantitative method. The sample of this final paper was 8E class of SMP 4 Semarang. The sampling of the final paper was non random sampling. The total sample of the research were 32 students. Instrument of the research were pre-test and post-test. The conclusions from this final paper are: 1) The precentage of the eigth grade students’ ability in written descriptive text taught without playing card were 29% students got A, 41.9% students got B, 12.9% students got C and 16.1% students got D. The mean of the pre test score was 74.45. The students ability in written descriptive text that were taught without using playing card was good. 2) the percentages of the eight grade students ability in written descriptive text who were taught by using playing card were 51.6% students got A, 35.5% students got B, 12.9% students got C. The mean of the post test was 81.32. The student’s ability of writtten descriptive text raised significantly from 74.45 points to 81.32 points (raised 6.87 points). There were no more students who got D or E after they are taught by using playing card. The analysis of pre tes and post test by using SPSS 16 showed that T test was higher than T table (2.528 > 2.222). There was significances of using playing card as media in teaching written descriptive. The students ability in written descriptive text taught by using playing card was very good.
