Abstract Strategic management is an integral part of top management. By formulating the right strategy and its subsequent implementation, a managed organization can attract and retain a comparative advantage. In order to fulfil this expectation, the strategy also has to be supported with relevant findings of performed strategic analyses. The best known and probably the most common of these is a SWOT analysis. In practice, however, the analysis is reduced to mere presentation of influence factors, which does not allow more precise determination of a strategic concept. The content of the article tries to remove this drawback, submitting for public discussion two possible approaches to evaluate the SWOT analysis providing important information for the selection process of an organization's strategic orientation.

‘Handedness’ as an expression of cerebral lateralisation is valuable in analysis of hemispheric asymmetries, carrying implications for implementation (as well as interpretation) of complex cognitive functions. In recent decades it has become possible to categorise handedness in a reproducible manner and, independently, to estimate accurately the degree of language lateralisation of the brain. These advances have re-focussed attention on cerebral organisation and hemispheric asymmetries, and there is now considerable interest in the neuropsychology of left-handedness. Because of procedural and ethical constraints there are relatively few large scale studies on language dominance, whereas handedness has been studied extensively in recent decades. Language is represented in the left hemisphere in all but 1% of right-handers, and in 60% of left-handers; in 15% of right-handers speech representation was bilateral.Precise determination of handedness or lateralisation does not appear to have been assessed in major studies of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Results in 29 reports, when the electrodes were placed over either the non-dominant or both hemispheres, were tabulated and briefly discussed by d'Elia and Raotma, but the criterion of lateral dominance assignment was not clearly specified; the unilateral and bilateral placements were equally efficacious in their antidepressant effect. d'Elia, who introduced unilateral therapy in 1970, accepted the assumption that the left hemisphere was ‘dominant’, but later workers were more circumspect.

Abstract Tourism is a phenomenon which affects the entire economic and social life, and the implications of its development can be observed in different spheres (economic, psychological, behavioral, and others). Taking into account the simplistic interpretation of the economic development of tourism on the one hand, and social development of tourism on the other hand, it is justified to highlight the problem of so-called “social costs of tourism” as the need for more precise determination of the character of the consequences of its development. In the field of “social costs of tourism” there is a need to the overall tourist development closer approaches and with increased responsibility. This tendency is particularly noticeable in the last decades of the 20th and the early 21st century, when tourism has entered a phase of maturity, which basically requires a change in its interpretation and treatment. The aim of this paper is to identify, evaluate and predict factors that support the sustainable development of tourism in Istria (Croatia). The research used comparative and SWOT analysis, and the results of the research will confirm the application elements of the concept of sustainable development in tourism of Istria, which is introduced with different intensity activities of all stakeholders in the surroundings.

It is important to predict which astigmatic patients require separate refraction for near vision. This study compared cylindrical components changes by cyclopentolate 1% for the low and high amount of astigmatism. The right eyes of 1014 healthy individuals (307 males and 707 females) with cylindrical refractive power more than −0.5 diopter on autorefractometer were selected. Both male and female patients in the age range of 17–45 years were refracted before and after cycloplegia, using 1% cyclopentolate. All volunteers were classified into 2 subgroups including the lower astigmatism group (−2.25 to −0.50) and the higher astigmatic group (−2.50 to over). Alpines’ method was used to compare the effect of cycloplegic drop on cylindrical power. The mean age in the lower astigmatism group (29.58; 95% CI: 29.18 to 29.99 years) was not significantly different from the higher astigmatic group (29.85; 95% CI: 29.07 to 30.62) and there were no significant differences in gender between these two groups ( P = 0.54 ). Differences between wet and dry refraction in J0 (−0.03; 95% CI:−0.06 to −0.008) and J45 (−0.03; 95% CI:−0.06 to −0.01) were significant only in the higher astigmatic group. Axis changes by the cycloplegic drop in the lower astigmatism group were 3.51 (CI: 3.22 to 3.81) and axis changes by the cycloplegic drop in the higher astigmatism group were 2.21 (CI: 1.73 to 2.49). In patients with a lower amount of astigmatism (−2.25 to −0.50), additional near subjective refraction could be done for precise determination of axis and in patients with a higher amount of astigmatism (−2.50 to over), near subjective refraction might be done for precise determination of power.

Community empowerment has wide meaning from various point of view. Community empowerment is the emphasis on the behavior of self-sustaining local communities as a system that breaks down themselves. Communities have the right to determine strategies for empowerment strategies according to their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Analysis of empowerment strategies through SWOT analysis for strategies that can be in accordance with the characteristics of society. This research was conducted at the priority location of Community Based Settlement Environment (PLPBK) program of Kelurahan Suryatmajan with number of informant 30 people and sampling technique using snowball sampling to find an information. From the analysis result, based on aformentioned reasons there are 4 segments of community empowerment point in the priority areas, namely handicraft and food industry, eco-green area, green open space area, and river arrangement. The determination of community empowerment strategy is the initial stage of overall empowerment activities, because the initial stage can determine the category of society and the pattern of empowerment to be undertaken

Data processing in the determination of scholarships in SMK Madyatama to date still use a system that is still manual. Where the absence of a well-computerized system in determining the acceptance of scholarship which then led to the emergence of some problems in this manual system. The problem that often arises is not exactly the distribution of scholarships to students. Problems like this are triggered by the lack of scrutiny of the scholarship selectors in conducting the selection process of the scholarship recipients, which is basically the selection process conducted by teachers from the school itself. The decision-making system at SMK Madyatama will be made using TOPSIS method to determine the right scholarship recipient in accordance with the scholarship recipient criteria. With the decision support system of awarding scholarship recipients at SMK Madyatama Palembang based on this website can help and facilitate the school in evaluating the selection of scholarship receipt.

AbstractSince the advent of infrared photography and in particular infrared reflectography (Note I), study of the underdrawing has increasingly become a fundamental part of art historical and stylistic analysis. There are, however, more unforeseen pitfalls here than in the study of the finished painting and analysis of the underdrawing actually involves an even greater understanding of and feeling for the medium and the motives, methods and aims of the artist. Hans Memling is exceptional in that he proves often to have drawn freehand directly on the ground, instead of transferring on to it the main lines of a composition worked out elsewhere (Note 2). This explains the confused and much corrected images revealed by infrared reflectography, but this is not a case of his being an 'expressionistic' draughtsman, as opposed to a serene painter. The nature of the drawing is largely due to his method of working out his composition: Memling reveals on the panel what most artists did somewhere else. His predilection for drawing directly on the panel is clearly apparent in the Portrait of Maarten van Nicuwcnhove of I487 (Fig. I), the right side of a diptych with the Madonna, which is one of the few, if not the only painting of this period in the Netherlands in which the geometrical working out of the perspective construction can be seen in the underdrawing. The construction lines, which can be seen quite clearly with the naked eye in the lighter areas, were thought by Tulpinck (Note 3) to be connected with an ingenious theory of proportion applied by Memling, while Taupert (Note 4) interpreted them on the basis of an infrared photograph (Fig. 2) as a detailed working out of the prespective, which Memling largely ignored, apart from the main lines, when he actually started painting. In a recent analysis by Hollanders-Favart (Note 5), all the lines revealed by infrared light have been amplified into a remarkable scheme (Fig.3), from which the conclusion is correctly drawn that three types of construction lines were used: parallel vertical lines, orthogonals converging on a single vanishing point on the left side of the diptych and diagonals linking some of the intersections of the first two types of line. It is then further argued that the vertical and diagonal lines are compositional elements which help to determine the placing of the figure in the space. In fact, however, the whole construction is simply and solely concerned with the precise determination of the positions of the sides of the windows and to this end the diagonals were not drawn after the vertical lines, but before them, to denote their positiona. Moreover, the orthogonals and the vertical lines do not run over the head, which must thus have been drawn in before them. The method was therefore the opposite way round to that suggested by Hollanders-Favart. The volume of the head was first placed in the centre of the panel, on the intersection of the horizon and the central vertical axis, and the rest of the figure may have been summarily indicated at that point. Then Memling drew the perspective scheme to define the oblique wall behind the figure, which he divided into four sections of equal width with a window and an area of wall alternately (Fig.4). Thus this constructional scheme had nothing to do with the placing or proportions of the figure, which is not done in accordance with that perspective, albeit the final positioning of the thumbs may well have been conditioned by the central vertical line, as Hollanders-Favarl suggests.

The long series of meridian observations of the Moon can be used for the precise determination of the equinox- and equator-corrections of a star catalogue. Systematic errors of different charts of the lunar marginal zone used for the reduction of the lunar limb observations have no influence on the determination of the secular variations of the zero-points of the fundamental coordinate system. From meridian observations of the lunar limb made during the interval 1923-1977 in Washington, Greenwich, Cape and Tokyo the following estimate is found for the correction to the right ascension system of the FK4 catalogue: which is in disagreement with the values used for the compilation of the FK5 catalogue.

Education and teaching are the rights of every citizen as regulated in the 1945 Constitution which is written in article 31, paragraph (1). However, the high cost of education sometimes becomes an obstacle for economically disadvantaged people, so that many secondary graduates are unable to continue their education to higher education even though they have good academic potential. The government has tried to provide a solution to this problem by organizing the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) in helping its citizens obtain the right to higher education, namely through the provision of KIP Lectures that can be submitted by students at PTN and PTS. Private universities which act as facilitators for students in submitting KIP Lecture applications are expected to be more selective in the candidate selection process so that the distribution of assistance is right on target. Determination of KIP Lecture recipients based on certain criteria is often a problem in the decision-making process. To express the preferences of decision makers on the most desirable alternative, it can be done by applying the Technique For Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The TOPSIS method will be combined with fuzzy logic to determine the weight value for each criterion attribute, followed by a ranking process to select the best alternative, in this case a valid alternative as a beneficiary that fits the criteria. With this method, it is hoped that the assessment process will be more precise and accurate because it is based on predetermined criteria and weights.
