Abstract The growing pressure to increase productivity and production quality is one of the reasons for the growing interest in using automated production facilities, such as robots. In many enterprises, automated lines are introduced that partially or completely replace the human factor. The automotive industry was one of the first to start using automated robots and still is the one of the largest users of these devices. Flexibility and affordability enabled robots to become part of the industry’s automation strategy. In order to achieve the desired goals, it is necessary to modernize and automate workplaces or to create completely new concepts of grouping of machines and industrial robots. An increasing trend in the use of robotic technology has caused several factors that have changed significantly in the recent years in favor of automated workplaces. The main changes made by industrial robots to the fore are improving their technical parameters, high reliability, affordability, reduced operating and maintenance costs.

The article is devoted to the study of such an important aspect of the activities of the World Russian People's Council (until 1995 it was called the World Russian Council) in the 90-s of the 20-th century as a discussion of national security issues and nuclear disarmament. At that time, a number of political and public figures actively called for the nuclear disarmament of Russia. Founded in 1993, the World Russian Council called for the Russian Federation to maintain a reasonable balance between reducing the arms race and fighting for the resumption of detente in international relations, on the one hand, and maintaining a powerful nuclear component of the armed forces of the country, on the other. The resolutions of the World Russian Council and the World Russian People's Council on the problems of the new concepts formation of foreign policy and national security of Russia in the context of NATO's eastward movement are analyzed in the article. It also shows the relationship between the provisions of the WRNS on security and nuclear weapons issues with Chapter VIII of the «Fundamentals of the Social Concept of the Russian Orthodox Church».

The rise of collaborative robots urges the consideration of them for different industrial tasks such as sanding. In this context, the purpose of this article is to demonstrate the feasibility of using collaborative robots in processing operations, such as orbital sanding. For the demonstration, the tools and working conditions have been adjusted to the capacity of the robot. Materials with different characteristics have been selected, such as aluminium, steel, brass, wood, and plastic. An inner/outer control loop strategy has been used, complementing the robot’s motion control with an outer force control loop. After carrying out an explanatory design of experiments, it was observed that it is possible to perform the operation in all materials, without destabilising the control, with a mean force error of 0.32%. Compared with industrial robots, collaborative ones can perform the same sanding task with similar results. An important outcome is that unlike what might be thought, an increase in the applied force does not guarantee a better finish. In fact, an increase in the feed rate does not produce significant variation in the finish—less than 0.02 µm; therefore, the process is in a “saturation state” and it is possible to increase the feed rate to increase productivity.

AbstractThe aim of our study was to validate the method of head-shake static posturography (HS-posturography) in healthy individuals and to establish the value of this novel method in the diagnostics of patients with unilateral vestibular lesion (UV). The study included 202 participants divided into two groups, one consisting of 133 patients with canal paresis CP > 19% and one of 69 healthy subjects. Participant was tested according to the standard protocol of static posturography (SP), and with head movements of 0.3 Hz (HS 40), 0.6 Hz (HS 70) in random order controlled by a metronome. HS-posturography revealed a similar repeatability and internal consistency as the standard posturography. In patients with UV, 4th condition revealed higher sensitivity (74%) and specificity (71%) in HS 40 than in the standard posturography (67%, 65% respectively) and HS 70 (54%, 70% respectively). Static posturography and HS- posturography revealed a high reliability of the testing method. The head movements added to static posturography improve the sensitivity and specificity of the method in group with vestibular impairment. The most important test for that purpose seems to be the one on unstable surface with the eyes closed, with low frequency of head movements.

During swimming competitions starting from the block-start platform, a potential hypothesis was noticed, through an active multimodal process, which can make the swimming start efficient, especially in the case of sprint races, by improving the propulsive force parameters of the inferior limbs. The swimming start research from interdisciplinary perspective: biomechanical, kinematic, informational and statistical can consolidate and improve the specific technique in accordance with the abilities and psycho-motor qualities of the swimmers. The present study is based on an experiment where the spatial-temporal and kinematic parameters were processed with the help of a Dartfish program. The evolution of parameters is researched as a result of a motor training program with the purpose to increase the propulsive force off the block-start. The improvement of spatial-temporal parameters influences the performance and evolution of technical parameters. Initial and final recordings were made on an MLD Station Evo5 and MLD software MuskelLeistungs Diagnose, fromSPSport, SPSportdiagnosegeräte, in order to evaluate the force, the power and the propulsive force. The argumentation of the experimental research is based on the statement: “the spatial characteristics of the motions and actions can be studied for themselves as parameters, characteristics or as a reference method for defining other characteristics, such as velocity or push-off force [1]. The main purpose of this study is to identify the influences of the specific start training upon the force improvement and kick power of the support foot from the block-start, during the classic track start. Given that the track start technique is the same as the one of the kick start executed from the international block-start of Omega, OSB11, developed in 2009, one assumes that the improvement of the classic track start leads by default to the improvement of the kick start. Lack of training to practice this type of start leads to deficient use during competitions, thus obtaining poor performances. There are no kick block-starts in Romania in order to train high performance athletes participating in international competitions and as a consequence, poor results are obtained at sprint races. One assumes that training for this type of start can be succesfully made only from a block-start similar to the kick one. The block-start model adapted by us under the same biomechanical conditions as the ones of the international kick start, is called “athletic kick”. The training specific to the kick start is carried out only with the optimum use of the kick block-start, the reasons for this being presented by N, Houel, A. Charliac, JL.Rey, Phellardin the paper: “How the swimmer could improve his track start using new Olympic plot” [2].

For the precision rotor position control of stream selector, a control system based on direct current motor (DC motor) has been constructed. The DC motor, with a high-precision incremental encoder used as the driving force, was assembled with the stream selector rotor through a shaft coupling. Following the motor rotation, the encoder generated two-channel quadrature pulses and one channel index pulses. An ultralow-power consumption microcontroller (msp430f2232) received theses pulses and calculated them. The position of the slot was determined by the number of pulses counted from the index pulse. Operator can set and monitored the slot positions of five stream selectors simultaneously through the program which was written with LabVIEW on the host computer. This module featured high reliability and low power consumption compared with the one driven by step motor. Beyond that, it was much smaller and lighter.

AbstractCircular colliders have the advantage of delivering collisions to multiple interaction points, which allow different detector designs to be studied and optimised—up to four for FCC-ee. On the one hand, the detectors must satisfy the constraints imposed by the invasive interaction region layout. On the other hand, the performance of heavy-flavour tagging, of particle identification, of tracking and particle-flow reconstruction, and of lepton, jet, missing energy and angular resolution, need to match the physics programme and the exquisite statistical precision offered by FCC-ee. During the FCC feasibility study (2021–2025), benchmark physics processes will be used to determine, via appropriate simulations, the requirements on the detector performance or design that must be satisfied to ensure that the systematic uncertainties of the measurements are commensurate with their statistical precision. The usage of the data themselves, in order to reach the challenging goals on the stability and on the alignment of the detector, in particular for the programme at and around the Z peak, will also be studied. In addition, the potential for discovering very weakly coupled new particles, in decays of Z or Higgs bosons, could motivate dedicated detector designs that would increase the efficiency for reconstructing the unusual signatures of such processes. These studies are crucial input to the further optimisation of the two concepts described in the FCC-ee conceptual design report, CLD and IDEA, and to the development of new concepts which might actually prove to be better adapted to the FCC-ee physics programme, or parts thereof.

This chapter describes design and development of the HORSE system for process-oriented hybrid manufacturing that seamlessly integrates human and robotics actors in vertical manufacturing cells that are horizontally coupled in end-to-end manufacturing processes. The HORSE system supports advanced dynamic actor allocation to work cells, direct robot control and human actor instruction, closed-loop local event processing, and near-real-time global event processing. The system handles abstract process definitions and status information on the one hand and directly interfaces to industrial sensors and actuators on the other hand, making it a system with a strong cyber-physical character. The physical side of the system is deployed in an internet-of-things context, where the things are the industrial robots controlled by the HORSE system, the sensors feeding data to the system, and the products being manufactured in the industrial process managed by the system. The system will be deployed in real-world, industrial pilot scenarios in a European Horizon 2020 project.

The aim of this chapter is to better understand the enabling and inhibiting impacts IT has on lean manufacturing. This chapter provides a rich picture of a paper mill producing liner reels and the impact of a reel administration system on the manufacturing process. It is important that an IT tool supporting lean manufacturing reflects its organization. When it does the IT tool can act as an enabler of organizational change that in turn increase productivity and the production quality, when it fails to do so it inhibits organizational change and hampers the quality of production. The conclusion is that framing the definition of high production quality regarding product and process is important and that teambuilding would be a contribution to this end by enhancing perspective taking among the employees.

On account of the end splitting and dropping thread problem for domestic winding machine during tassel thread production process at present, an intelligent system with subdivision driving module TB6560AHQ and SANYO stepping motor was designed, which adopted the ATMEL89S52 MCU as the core controller. The system achieved precise control of some parameters during the course of tassel thread winding such as torque, direction of rotation, speed, cycle laps, twist, etc. It also reduced the worker’s labour intensity and improved the production quality and efficiency of the tassel manufacturing, moreover, this winding machine has the advantages of simple structure, high torque, high reliability and low cost. It can meet the various control requirements for different tassel thread winding and have a considerable market prospect.

Choosing a high-speed rail vehicle depends on many factors. On the one hand, there are requirements for ensuring the quality of service for passengers, on the other hand, there are constraints resulting from the parameters of available infrastructure. Also a relation of the benefit and financial costs associated with the purchase and the operation of rolling stock is essential. Technical characteristics of vehicles selected for operating a particular system is a compromise between the three groups of requirements. In this article technical parameters of railway infrastructure and rolling stock are classified and then analysed from the TSI requirements point of view.
