Abstract, Pacitan Cultural Landscape and Correlation with The Distribution of Occupation, Artifacts, and Raw Materials in The Gunung Sewu Area. The results of archaeological research in the Gunung Sewu area provide an overview of the cultural landscape of space and time. During the Pleistocene, paleolithic remains were scattered mainly in the Baksoko watershed, Pacitan, and the Oyo River watershed, Gunungkidul. Traces of the cultural heritage of the Gunung Sewu area that last hundreds of thousands of years show a shift in choosing a place to work. An area is selected for activities based on the availability of basic human needs, both food sources (flora-fauna) and raw materials for making equipment. The need for raw materials equipment is an essential factor in describing the cultural landscape map because the choice of location as an activity is reflected in the human mind at that time. Applying paleolithic technology to Pacitan culture and neolithic technology generally uses rock materials that are easy to flake and chip. Therefore, selecting rock material with high hardness (silica content) will determine its sharpness. To reconstruct the cultural landscape in Pacitan in the dimensions of space and time, this aims to explain based on the hypothesis that if a culture is created in a particular natural environment, then the activity will occupy a particular natural environment. The approach used is landscape archeology. Based on this, it can be reconstructed that there are differences in stone raw materials for tool making between the upstream and downstream areas of the river with different technologies. In addition, there was a shift in an occupation that was initially centered around rivers during the Pleistocene, then shifted to karst hills in caves or niches during the Early Holocene.

Prehistoric period of human life is relying on the availability of the potential of the surrounding natural environment in maintaining life. Prehistoric people will look for areas that provide the necessities of life either food source or sources of raw material to equipment. Kidang cave is one of prehistoric cave dwelling occupied intensively in the long term. Archaeological evidence, and traces ecofact fireplace and the grave gave an overview of how human beings to survive that period. This paper will discuss how patterns of human life of Kidang cave adapting to the natural environment on the aspects of diet, technology, and mobility of residents in search of food sources and sources of raw materials for everyday equipment.

High strength, high hardness and very tough engineering material derived from geologically occurring minerals and processed into a tool that rubs or wears off by friction is regarded as an abrasive. Abrasives are produced in different forms and shapes and they afford good opportunities for precision scraping away or machining. In this empirical paper, effort is made in establishing a case for the production of abrasive tools that are formulated with silicon carbide and aluminium oxide as catalytic raw materials. These are locally found in the researchers’ locality a place that has many geological deposits of solid minerals. At each of Ozizza, Ndibe, Kpoghirikpo and Unwana beaches, eleven samples of sand were collected at random locations from the Cross River that is flowing through Ozizza down to Unwana for physical and geochemical investigation to determine its suitability for abrasive making. Sand at the four locations were subjected to physical and geochemical investigation. Generally, the sand was physically characterized by bright colours of white, brown and yellow. Some samples at some locations contained dark specks of organic matter. From the distribution, the sand is generally of medium grade size as shown by the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Geochemically by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis, the oxide contents are: SiO2 (91.73%), CaO (0.045%), Al2O3 (4.24%), Fe2O3 (1.36%), TiO2 (0.21%), K2O (0.86%). The silica content (91.73%) of the sand is well above the industrial specification of 80% for sanitary ware making and suitable for the silica brick industry, for road dressing mixed with special asphalt. The physical and geochemical property results indicate that the sand is a good material for direct use in abrasive (sand paper and sand blasting).making, glass making and in the building and construction industries.

Abstract This article argues that Animal Crossing: New Horizons embodies the culture of Slowness discovered by many during the covid-19 lockdown in 2020, and that its acclaim points to a future for Slowness in games and, perhaps, in lifestyle more generally. The title will be considered within the context of Radde-Antweiler et al.’s framework of gamevironments, which considers the cultural landscape of a given game based on its technical aspects and its reception among audiences. Through this, the Slowness in the game can be identified. It will subsequently be argued that this Slowness is the result of Shinto presence in the game, as the tradition is largely concerned with the natural environment and mindfulness, contrasting with the values promoted by capitalism and globalisation. Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its popularity point to a growing discontent with the status quo of ‘fast’ living.

Aluminum (Al)-stainless steel 316L (SUS316L) composites were successfully fabricated by the spark plasma sintering process (SPS) using pure Al and SUS316L powders as raw materials. The Al-SUS316L composite powder comprising Al with 50 vol.% of SUS316L was prepared by a ball milling process. Subsequently, it was sintered at 630 °C at a pressure of 200 MPa and held for 5 min in a semisolid state. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns show that intermetallic compounds such as Al13Fe4 and AlFe3 were created in the Al-SUS316L composite because the Al and SUS316L particles reacted together during the SPS process. The presence of these intermetallic compounds was also confirmed by using XRD, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and EDS mapping. The mechanical hardness of the Al-SUS316L composites was analyzed by a Vickers hardness tester. Surprisingly, the Al-SU316L composite exhibited a Vickers hardness of about 620 HV. It can be concluded that the Al-SUS316L composites fabricated by the SPS process are lightweight and high-hardness materials that could be applied in the engineering industry such as in automobiles, aerospace, and shipbuilding.

Currently, many of the key archeology issues, including the questions of origin, relationships, migration and trade routes, sources of raw materials, technological methods in the processing of metals, etc., are difficult to solve by ar- cheology means alone. Progress in the field of instrumental technique regarding the advent of the latest-generation devices allows not only to perform elemental analysis of samples but also to measure with high accuracy different isotopes, which are often certain markers that characterize some components of the natural environment, provinces of habitation, diet and other important aspects of the ancient people’s habitat.

The aim of the present article is to analyze the relationship between the city and the protagonists of Giuseppe Culicchia’s texts. The methodological perspective is that of cultural anthropology, in particular the concept of mente locale, discussed by Franco La Cecla. Mente locale, as a relationship between space and human mind, is vital in the act of getting lost in space (perdersi), which leads to getting to know it (orientarsi) and finally initiating the profound relationship based on emotivity. Culicchia’s texts are set in Turin, and the study points out the different ways of perception of the city. The analyzed texts represents the gradual acquisition of knowledge about the city that corresponds to the theoretical thesis that is how the anthropology of space and place illustrates the conceptual and material dimensions of space which is central to the production of social life, bringing classics of cultural anthropology together with new theoretical approaches.

“In the Alps, the cultural landscape changes with the way people live and act. Social structures and economic conditions shape human needs and define the appearance of the territory and landscape, contributing to the development of specific settlement and housing models, in close relationship with the place. The local typology and construction technologies, developed throughout the history, thus embody the responses to the particular local housing needs, characterizing the places according to different cultural influences. These conditions, together with the influences of the environmental and natural context, as well as the cultural aspects linked to the traditions of the local communities, today are still distinctive elements of the characterization of the villages and mountain valleys. The essay, starting from design experiences conducted personally by the architects in their region of origin – the Grisons – explores the many suggestions that the “legacy” of the different ways of building in the mountains offered for their design work. From space planning to materials, from construction solutions to typology, the architectural projects of Capaul & Blumenthal, both in the case of the recovery of the existing heritage and in the case of new buildings, seem to move from a clever re-interpretation of the complex heritage that combines savoir faire, knowledge, inspirations and materials, to seek careful answers to the current problems of the Alpine world.”
