Background While the Texas infant mortality rate (IMR) is below the Healthy People 2020 objective (5.7 per 1,000 live births), stark differences in IMR are seen across Texas communities. Health indicators for the state suggest important missed opportunities for improving maternal and infant outcomes. The Healthy Families initiative was a collaboration between a Texas state agency, community partners, and academic institutions to understand how evidence-based interventions could be identified, adapted, and implemented to address community priorities and reduce disparities in pregnancy outcomes. Method The Healthy Families initiative included two Texas counties, one with low utilization of prenatal care and one with persistent disparities in infant mortality. The model served to (1) identify community factors influencing IMR and maternal morbidity through stakeholder engagement and secondary data, (2) build community capacity to link pregnant women with existing and newly developed services, and (3) develop partnerships within the community and clinics to improve access to and sustainability of services. Results A community-based participatory approach focused on stakeholder engagement was used to identify, design, and adapt strategies to address community-identified priorities. Conclusions The Healthy Families initiative is a unique state–community–academic partnership aimed at improving pregnancy outcomes in vulnerable communities, with a focus on promotion of capacity building, maintenance, and sustainability of maternal and infant health programs.

The government’s efforts to r Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Indonesia in reality still far away from the expected target, so as to accelerate the decline in maternal and infant mortality is to implement planning and prevention of complications of childbirth (P4K) through the installation of childbirth stickers on all pregnants house because it is expected to find a best way to save the pregnants, childbirth, post partum, and newborn babyThis aim of this study is to determine how the implementation of mounting stickers and Prevention Program Planning Maternity Complications (P4K) in the Work Area Public Health Center of Buluspesantren II Kebumen in 2013.This research uses descriptive method with a sampling of the total sampling.Analysis of data using univariate data analysis. It is descriptive statistical techniques. Based on research conducted, P4K stickers implementation is not good, as many as 75 respondents (76, 5%) good implementation P4K stickers, showed that all respondents, amounting to 98 pregnant women (100%) have a good level of knowledge, a majority of 23 respondents (23.5%), all respondents (98 pregnant) do not experience obstacles in the implementation of the sticker P4K Keywords: Pregnant, Knowledge, P4K Sticker

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the infant mortality rate in Karangasem, Bali. The method used in this research is the Log Linier model. In the Log linear model analyze relationship pattern among group of categorical variables which include an association of two or more variables, either simultaneously or partially. A Patterned relationship between variables can be seen from the interaction between variables. Log linear analysis does not distinguish between explanatory variables and response variables. The population in this study was all babies born in Karangasem in 2015 that is as many as 7,895 babies with live birth status and as many as 7,835 babies and 60 infants died. As a sample, 100 babies were taken, of which 60 were live and 40 died. The results show that infant mortality is affected by infant weight, how old the mother during childbirth, and interaction between birth spacing and infant weight

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is one of the causes of maternal and infant mortality indirectly. Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Grobogan District increased gradually during the period of 2011 – 2012 from 26 cases (114.03/100,000 live births) to 34 cases (151.15/100,000 live births), and decreased sharply to be 22 cases (102.03/100,000 live births) in 2013. Meanwhile, Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) was 194 cases in 2011, rose dramatically in 2012 to be 240 cases, and declined sharply in 2013 to be 166 cases. Low Birthweight Babies (LBWB) was one of the causes of infant mortality because pregnant women suffered from CED during their pregnancies. The aim of this study was to analyse internal and external factors with performance of village midwives in conducting early detection and handling pregnant women with CED. This was an observational-analytic study using cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using structured questionnaires. Population was 243 village midwives at health centres in Grobogan District. As many as 71 village midwives were selected randomly using a technique of stratified random sampling. Data were analysed using analyses of bivariate (chi square test) and multivariate (logistic regression test). The results of this research showed that most of the respondents aged ranging from 20-35 years old (76.1%), had working period less than or equal to 6 years (53.5%), ever handled CED (81.7%). Variables of health facilities (p=0.001), fellow worker support (p=0.016), community support (p=0.001), leader support (p=0.0001) had significant relationship with the performance of village midwives in conducting early detection of pregnant women with CED. Factors jointly influencing the performance were health facilities (p=0.000; Exp(B)=25.395), and leader support (p=0.001; Exp(B)=10.278). As suggestions, health centres and District Health Office need to provide complete health facilities to improve performance of health workers in providing services.

Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is one of the important indicators in public health. Indonesia still has a relatively high IMR compared to the neighboring countries. Based on the Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (IDHS) in 2012, IMR in East Java reached 25.50 deaths per 1000 births. IMR decline occurred during 2012 to 2015. Achievement depends on the factors that influence it. This study aims to create a model of IMR based on maternal and external factors in East Java. The method used was a non-reactive study using 38 districts/cities as sample units in East Java, which came from Central Bureau of Statistics secondary data in 2015. Statistical analysis used multiple linear regression. The results showed the independent variables together affected the IMR (p-value = 0,000 <0.05), but partially influenced by the age of the first married mother (p-value = 0,000 <0.05) and the helper delivery of non-medical personnel (p-value = 0.014 <0.05). The conclusion of this study is the regression equation model for IMR in East Java in 2015, which is IMR = 1,064 + 1,319 * (age of first marriage) + 0.439 * (helper of non-medical births). Suggestions for the Government of East Java Province to implement strategies so that infant mortality cases can be reduced.

The maternal mortality rate is 19,500 to 20,000 people every year or occurs every 26-27 minutes. The caus of maternal death is bleeding 30.5%, infection 22,5%, gestosis 17,5 and anesthesia 2%.  The infant mortality rate is around 10,000 to 280,000 per 18-20 minutes. The cause of infant mortality is due to Low Birth Weight (LBW) of 15/1000%.  The infant mortality rate in Indonesia is still the highest problem in other ASEAN countries. The infant mortality rate in Indonesia from 2008 was around 248 per 100,000 live births. Basic Health Research (RISKESDA) 2013 shows there are still 10,2% of babies with LBW, which is less than 2,500 grams. Neonatal death because LBW is basically affected by the nutritional status of pregnant women. This study aims to determine the relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and the  incidence  of  LBW. This  quantitative  research  uses  a  case  control  approach  using  a  retrospective approach. The population in this study were mothers who had given birth to babies during the last two years (2016-2017). The sampling technique uses total sampling for control cases by using a ratio of 1: 1 for the case group of 40: 40 samples. Analysis using Chi Square with p value 0,000 (OR=3,500, CI 95%=2,313-5,296). There is a relationship between nutritional status of pregnant women and the incidence of LBW. Health Technology Assessment (HTA) which can seek 1000 first day of life can be a breakthrough in assessing and providing interventions of nutrition in families, especially in pregnant women.

Based on official statistics, the author tries to address the question of why the infant mortality rate in Russia is significantly higher than might be expected given the measures taken to protect the health of pregnant women and newborns. In the introduction, the author explains the relevance of studying inequality in the level of infant mortality among the population of modern Russia as a factor holding back the positive downward trend. After presenting the latest history of the evolution of the information and statistical base for population studies on the subjects under review, the author confirms the approach according to which it is advisable to work with data for real generations when analyzing the differentiation of infant mortality and generations born in 2014-2016 are chosen as the object of analysis. To determine the relevance of individual factors contributing to infant mortality, the author cross-tabulated raw data. Data on such initial characteristics (factors) as the birth order of the child, whether a mother is in a contracted civil marriage or not, mother’s level of education, were grouped by age groups of mothers. The use of cross-tabulation allowed to affirm not only the influence of individual factors on the level of infant mortality but also a quantitative differentiation between them. The article concludes the extent to which the overall level of infant mortality is determined by mortality rates from individual causes of death.A significant part of the article is presented in the format of author generalization using statistical methods regarding the educational differences of mothers, which have become differentiation factors in infant mortality rates. The socio-demographic analysis based on official statistics has confirmed not only some hypotheses as to why, despite the relatively rapid decrease in infant mortality in Russia in recent years, its level remains higher than in almost all European countries with reliable demographic statistics, but also to reveal the extent of the inequality of infant mortality in our country. The author argues that the reason why Russia lags behind many countries with the positive downward infant mortality trend is strongly associated with causes of death from conditions arising in the perinatal period as well as congenital disorders. This suggests that the level of medical care for pregnant women and newborns in Russia is still lower than in developed European countries. It also has to be assumed that different educational groups have unequal access to quality health care. А proactive approach to life as well as a progressive achievement of the right to choose a medical institution and a doctor - is one of the important directions for resolving a whole set of national health care issues.

One of the most important tasks that healthcare providers face is to reduce infant mortality. The purpose of our study was to assess the effects of routing of pregnant women with preterm birth on the infant mortality rate. Materials and methods: оperating data of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), operational notifications about death of young children under the age of 1, monthly reports of obstetric hospitals subordinate to Moscow Healthcare Department, annual reports of hospital departments providing neonatal care in medical organizations of Moscow Healthcare Department, and statistical data analysis. Results and discussion. The infant mortality rate in Moscow has been declining in recent decades and has been less than 6‰ annually since 2016. The share of newborns with extremely low birth weight is insignificant in overall rate. At the same time, extremely low birth weight is one of the main causes of infant mortality. As this category of newborns requires specific care, it is better to deliver such babies in perinatal centers that provide high quality medical care. Within 5 years, the share of children with ELBW born in perinatal centers and specialized obstetric hospitals has almost doubled. At the same time, there is an increase in the survival rate of children with extremely low birth weight by the age of one year in obstetric hospitals. Conclusion. Well-planned routing of patient within the large system of obstetric hospitals in Moscow could reduce death rate, increase the survival rate of children with extremely low birth weight and contribute to reducing infant mortality in the region.

Life expectancy is one of the indicators to calculate the Human Development Index (HDI) which determined by infants’ health, toddlers’ health, frequency of liveborn children and death rate in the community. East Java Province has four dominant cultural areas such as Mataraman including the western part of the border of Central Java to Kediri, Madura including Bangkalan to Pamekasan, Arek including north coast of Surabaya to Malang and Tapal Kuda including Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Situbondo, Bondowoso, Lumajang and Jember. Those four cultural areas have different characteristic that can affect public health status especially life expectancy in East Java Province. The analysis aimed to know the correlation between infant mortality rate and life expectancy and to know the differences of life expectancy among four cultural areas in East Java year 2015. This analysis used secondary data obtained from Central Bureau of Statistic of East Java on May, 2017. The data were life expectancy as dependent variable, infant mortality rate as independent variable and cultural areas in East Java as grouping variables. The result showed that there was correlation between infant mortality rate with life expectancy (p=0.000) and there was different in life expectancy among four cultural areas in East Java year 2015 (p=0.000) such as cultural areas Mataraman-Madura, Mataraman-Tapal Kuda and Arek-Tapal Kuda. It suggested the government to continue improving the socio-economic welfare of the community and public health improvement in the Tapal Kuda area which had high infant mortality rate and low life expectancy.

An important role in the normal development of the fetus and the successful outcome of pregnancy is played by the state of health of pregnant women. One of the significant factors of perinatal risk is anemia of pregnant women. In order to assess the level and dynamics of the incidence of anemia in pregnant women, official statistical reports and publications of the Federal State Statistics Service for 2005-2017 and Central Research Institute for Organization and Informatization of Health of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for 2012-2018 were analyzed. Using a trend analysis using a trend method, a prognosis was made for the incidence of anemia in pregnant women up to 2021 in the Russian Federation as a whole and separately in the North-West Federal District. In order to assess the impact of the predictor “anemia of pregnant women” on the infant mortality rate, data from primary medical documentation was copied to 250 children who died before the age of 1 year in the North-West Federal District. It has been established that the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the North-West Federal District significantly exceeds the average level in the Russian Federation. Provided that factors affecting the course of pregnancy remain unchanged, the incidence of anemia in pregnant women by 2021 on average in the Russian Federation will decrease to 32.2% of the number of women who have completed pregnancy, and in the North-West Federal District will increase to 37.5%. During pregnancy, the incidence of anemia in women whose child died before the age of 1 year in the North-West Federal District amounted to 44.16 ± 0.39% of the number of women who completed the pregnancy, which significantly exceeded the average figure in the district, which in 2017 was equal to 35.90 ± 0.35% (p < 0.05). A direct correlation has been established between the predictor “anemia in pregnant women” and the infant mortality rate.
