With this special number by the Colombia Médica journal, we wish to participate in the commemoration of the 65 years since the creation of the School of Nursing at Universidad del Valle. This journal, official organism of scientific diffusion at the University, joins this celebration to manifest recognition and gratitude to the founders, directors of the School and to the faculty staff who with their tenacity, vision, and sense of pertinence have contributed to placing this Academic Unit at the highest levels. There have been many contributions during these six and a half decades, but perhaps, one that gives us the most satisfaction is that of having been able to contribute to the high-level formation of human talent in nursing, not only at the local level but regionally, nationally, and internationally. The graduates from the different undergraduate and graduate programs can attest, through their outstanding professional performance, of this contribution to society. This supplement seeks to gather, besides the history of over half a century of our raison d’être in nursing, some of the paths that have been marking the perspective of the School. For this reason, we are presenting themes like disciplinary development in nursing, which reflects the multiple searches for the construction and projection of the exercise of the profession noting that the future raises complex and unavoidable challenges; likewise, the themes of student leadership and counseling make us encounter the tensions experienced on a daily basis as an institution dedicated to the formation of human talent in nursing, given that we are urged to reflect and join efforts to question ourselves critically on what type of human beings are being formed at the University and what society will be built with them. Finally, another path the School has been developing is the use of innovation and communications technologies. This has been one of the bastions that for over two decades have guided our teaching activities. In this supplement, we present the experience that has facilitated the formation in higher education of students with difficult access to classroom education because they have to comply with different roles in society, along with perspectives seen in this area. Readers will also find in this supplement, texts that address the field of research challenges in nursing and reflections on its social responsibility, as well as call to delve into the work process and its relationship with healthcare to permit analyzing the contributions from the different components in the health of nursing workers. Possibly, Reading this supplement will instigate readers’ thoughts, while contributing to solve some of their doubts, but surely and most importantly is that it will move them toward new challenges to think of and act in favor of nursing.

The paper is a review on the textbook by A. V. Yeremin, «The History of the National Prosecutor’s office» and the anthology «The Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Empire in the Documents of 1722–1917» (authors: V. V. Lavrov, A. V. Eremin, edited by N. M. Ivanov) published at the St. Petersburg Law Institute (branch) of the University of the Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation in 2018. The reviewers emphasize the high relevance and high level of research, their theoretical and practical significance. The textbook and the anthology will help the students increase their legal awareness, expand their horizons.

Introduction:  The issue of student counseling, as all the issues involved in a comprehensive higher education perspective, includes irresolvable tensions which are always enlightening in discovering the answer to the question: what kind of human beings are formed in the university and what kind of society is going to be built with them? The search for the answer to this question has meaning and matters to all instances and participants in the educational community.Student counseling, comprehensive education, and human care: The practice of Student Counseling includes opportunities for personal and professional growth, along with social projection of students and faculty. For the institution and its academic programs, it constitutes a field for the concrete appplication of the principles and goals of what «ought to be» according to the institutional mission at both levels. In caring for the «other», it is essential to know who that other is. Student Counseling in the School of Nursing at Universidad del Valle has been based on this premise. Its practice has demanded and enhanced knowing the students, their original contexts, expectations, concerns, and difficulties plus their human and professional potentials. The reflections presented here include facts and voices, learnings and processes, limits and scopes of this experience, seeking to recall a memory that demands a place and to contribute to the discussion, fortunately ever-present, about the student as the center and sense of every educational process.

This article is devoted to the history of the university, its role among the higher education institutions of the Republic, its role in the development of legal education, as well as the achievements of scientists, government officials, achievements over 30 years. Improving the spiritual and moral education of students also includes helping students to become full members of society, mature professionals in their profession through various forms, methods and means of education. At TSUL, students and teachers to ensure transparency in providing the digitalization of the educational process, including the formation of the training schedule, exams, evaluation, ranking of students in the formulation and implementation of the transition to electronic document exchange "Electonic university" providing information about the platform (e-University) data can be obtained. In addition, this article aims to improve the spiritual and moral education of students, to help students to become full members of society, professionals in their profession, to develop spiritual qualities in the minds and hearts of students, the idea of national independence and the ideology of independence. to help students spend their free time meaningfully, to form in young people a sense of national pride, patriotism and devotion, to study their worldview and interests.

<p>Resumen</p><p>Este artículo aborda el desarrollo y los resultados de un proyecto de innovación docente aplicado en el Grado de Historia del Arte de la Universidad de León, durante el año 2017, dentro del Plan de Innovación Docente de dicha institución.</p><p>Se presentan los antecedentes de esta actividad, así como un breve estado de la cuestión sobre las publicaciones que abordaron el desempeño profesional de los estudiantes tras terminar sus estudios. Finalmente se explica la metodología del proyecto objeto de análisis, las fases de realización, su relación con las competencias propias de estos estudios y los resultados obtenidos.</p><p> Abstract</p><p>This article analyzes the development and results of a project of teaching innovation applied in the degree of History of Art of the University of Le´on, during the year 2017, within the Plan of Teaching Innovation of this institution. The background of this activity is presented, as well as a brief state of the art on publications dealing with the professional performance of students after completing their studies. Finally, the methodology of the project under analysis, the phases of realization, its relationship with the competences of these studies and the results obtained are explained.</p>

AbstractThe history of Physical Education reports us that the physical exercises have emerged and have been perfected in accordance with the social order, evolving in direct relation with it. During this paper we will define the phenomenon of Physical education and sport as a discipline of academic education, starting from the general notions to the particular ones in the general physical training of the student actor. In this paper we try to highlight some similarities between the preparation of the actor and the preparation of the athlete for professional performance. We will present the theoretical framework with well-defined and accepted notions in both sports and theater. We will subsequently present the particular framework in which the theoretical principles in the sports field are taken over by the university theater programme and put into practice for the general preparation of the future actor. The article closes with the selection of some basic conclusions and recommendations appropriate to the topic under discussion

Research conducted 25 years ago in the UK established at that time that businesses required able, enthusiastic and broadly educated people who were willing to master quickly a firm's techniques and procedures and to advance to a position of responsibility and leadership. The BSc Honours degree in Technology and Business Studies (TBS) at the University of Strathclyde was designed to meet that requirement by providing students with an understanding of the language of technology and the language of business, and to link these two to provide a fluency in the communication skills used by managers on a daily basis. In an earlier paper Macrosson described the TBS degree, established in October 1974, as a new approach to the education of students wishing to enter industry, commerce or public service. Now, 23 years on from the first intake, this paper briefly outlines the current structure of the course, reviews its overall performance, and extracts the five principal lessons which the authors believe will be of help to those either establishing or reviewing a similar degree. The factual parts of the paper are based on a recently completed survey of the 190 TBS students currently on the course.

Spatial audio has been at the core of the multimodal experience at the AlloSphere, a unique instrument for data discovery and exploration through interactive immersive display, since its conception. The AlloSphere multichannel spatial audio design has direct roots in the history of electroacoustic spatial audio and is the result of previous activities in spatial audio at the University of California at Santa Barbara. A concise technical description of the AlloSphere, its architectural and acoustic features, its unique 3-D visual projection system, and the current 54.1 Meyer Sound audio infrastructure is presented, with details of the audio software architecture and the immersive sound capabilities it supports. As part of the process of realizing scientific and artistic projects for the AlloSphere, spatial audio research has been conducted, including the use of decorrelation of audio signals to supplement spatialization and tackling the thorny problem of interactive up-mixing through the Sound Element Spatializer and the Zirkonium Chords project. The latter uses the metaphor of geometric spatial chords as a high-level means of spatial up-mixing in performance. Other developments relating to spatial audio are presented, such as Ryan McGee's Spatial Modulation Synthesis, which simultaneously explores the synthesis of space and timbre.

These days environmental issues are among the most commonly reported ones in the world. The dangerous effects of the environmental problems, which are as old as the history of humanity, began to be felt more profoundly after the Industrial Revolution. In former times the environmental problems were felt only at a local level with the destruction of forests in order to facilitate hunting places and clear lands for farming areas. After the Industrial Revolution the extent of the problem rose and reached the catastrophic disaster level with the extensive fossil fuel use. Nowadays, when environment problems come into question, many people prefer using the term environmental disaster in place of the term environmental problems. This term, environmental disaster, may be remarkable enough to discern the severity of the problem.  The role of literature in reaching the public cannot be denied. Ecocriticism tries to make use of this ability of literature in setting forth and expressing environment problems. Since both fictional and non-fictional literature can reach many people, the works which concern with the environmental problems may be beneficial to raise awareness and contribute to inform many people all over the world about the severity of these problems. Creating awareness is an important issue since many people are not aware of the fact that the nature is destroyed by humans, and they neglect that the harm to nature causes the harm to humanity concurrently since there has always been an indissoluble bond between ecosystem and humans. Humans cannot be dissociated from the natural world. In this study, some brief information about human related environment disasters, social organizations which were established to fight for the rights of nonhuman beings in nature, the function of literature in creating awareness among human beings, the efforts of creating ecological reading and the emergence of ecocritical literary criticism will be given. After discussing Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s contribution to nature writing and Romanticism briefly, “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” will be evaluated from an ecocritical perspective.

The development history of students' participation right has experienced a long process. It is also a key point of the internal reform of colleges and universities and a legal right allocation to balance various stakeholders. A history of discrimination against racial and religious minorities at the University of Minnesota, maintained by powerful administrators who were subsequently honored with named buildings, was reflected in acts and patterns of racism in admissions and housing, within the School of Nursing. This article recounts well-documented examples of racial bias, particularly the story of Frances Mchie Rains, the first nurse of color to graduate from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and a pioneer in overcoming racial barriers.
