The study describes the developed cloud web service for multidimensional processing of quantitative data for solving a wide class of scientific geological tasks. The computing node “Multidimensional methods of data analysis” provides processing of tabular data using various methods of modern data analysis and allows to set their parameters and visualize the results. The node includes wide range of methods such as data preprocessing, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis. Computing node “Multidimensional methods of data analysis” is a part of Computational analytical geological environment of State Geological Museum of RAS and is integrated with its services. At the same time, the computing node is an independent cloud web service which implements REST API for interaction with it. This allows a wide range of users to access multidimensional data analysis methods located on a computing node and provides capabilities of its integration into information systems as a thirdparty application for processing tabular data.

This paper considers the effectiveness of a research method based on online questionnaires and employed in a recent study of attitudes to books and school libraries among pupils in an English high school. The questionnaire was constructed in Microsoft SharePoint. ln an e-mail, the youngsters were asked to complete the questionnaire and were taken to it via a hyperlink. The research strategy ensured that, in theory at least, a wide range of pupils was reached. lt exploited their familiarity with electronic surveys and eliminated the problem of illegible handwriting often associated with paper questionnaires. Nevertheless, the response rate was poor and the quality of the data questionable despite several provisions for ensuring trustworthiness. The SharePoint system employed supported quantitative data analysis to a much greater extent than it did qualitative. The paper concludes by identifying other forms of electronic questionnaire that may be employed in schools that lack SharePoint software.

This article gives an overview of Facet Theory, a systematic approach to facilitating theory construction, research design, and data analysis for complex studies, that is particularly appropriate to the behavioral and social sciences. Facet Theory is based on (1) a definitional framework for a universe of observations in the area of study; (2) empirical structures of observations within this framework; (3) a search for correspondence between the definitional system and aspects of the empirical structure for the observations. The development of Facet Theory and Facet Design is reviewed from early scale analysis and the Guttman Scale, leading to the concepts of “mapping sentence,” “universe of content,” “common range,” “content facets,” and nonmetric multidimensional methods of data analysis. In Facet Theory, the definition of the behavioral domain provides a rationale for hypothesizing structural relationships among variables employed in a study. Examples are presented from various areas of research (intelligence, infant development, animal behavior, etc.) to illustrate the methods and results of structural analysis with Smallest Space Analysis (SSA), Multidimensional Scalogram Analysis (MSA), and Partial Order Scalogram Analysis (POSA). The “radex” and “cylindrex” of intelligence tests are shown to be outstanding examples of predicted spatial configurations that have demonstrated the ubiquitous emergence of the same empirical structures in different studies. Further examples are given from studies of spatial abilities, infant development, animal behavior, and others. The use of Facet Theory, with careful construction of theory and design, is shown to provide new insights into existing data; it allows for the diagnosis and discrimination of behavioral traits and makes the generalizability and replication of findings possible, which in turn makes possible the discovery of lawfulness. Achievements, issues, and future challenges of Facet Theory are discussed.

This study concerns on improving students’ achievement in writing procedure texts through word webbing technique. The research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The population was the 2012-2013 nine grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. The number of students was 36, consisting of 21 females and 15 males. The procedure of the research was administrated into two cycles where each cycle consisted of three meetings. Each meeting included four steps namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. There were two kinds of data collected during the study, qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was the writing of procedure texts test while the qualitative data were gathered by using interview, diary notes and observation sheet. Based on the data analysis, the mean of students’ score in Test I was 53,47, for the Test II was 63,05, and for the Test III was 75 The qualitative data showed that the students were interested in the applying of Word webbing Technique. The conclusion is that Word Webbing Technique in writing Procedure Texts improves the students’ achievement in writing procedure texts. <p><strong>ABSTRAK</strong></p><p>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran akuntansi berbantuan <em>game</em> edukatif berbasis <em>android</em>, sehingga dihasilkan media pembelajaran akuntansi berupa <em>game</em> edukatif  yang  valid, praktis dan efektif. Model yang digunakan dalam penelitian  pengembangan ini adalah ADDIE<em>.</em> Teknik Pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket dalam hal ini berupa lembar validasi, angket respons mahasiswa, test dan studi dokumentasi. Adapun teknik analisa data yang digunakan adalah teknik deskriptif persentase. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan media pembelajaran <em>game </em>eduktif yang dikembangkan valid, praktis dan efektif sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian serta mampu meningkatkan kemampuan <em>analysis ability </em>mahasiswa khususnya pada pokok materi rekonsiliasi bank.</p><p><em><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></em></p><p><em>This research aims to develop accounting learning media assisted with android-based educational games, therefore, valid, practical and effective accounting learning media produced. The model used in this research development is ADDIE, while the techniques of data collection used are questionnaires in the form validation sheets, students' response sheets, tests, and documentation study. The technique of data analysis used is a descriptive percentage by changing the quantitative data to become percentage form. The results of this study indicate that the development of educational learning media is valid, practical, and effective, it is in accordance of the study and can improve students' skill in analyzing the ability especially on bank reconciliation subject.</em></p>

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis android untuk memudahkan pemahaman konsep trigonometri. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang didukung data kuantitatif. Model Pengembangan yang digunakan yaitu ADDIE. Karya inovasi ini dibuat dengan macromediaflash 8. Subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 8 siswa pada ujicoba kelompok kecil dan 30 siswa pada ujicoba kelompok besar. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu angket dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data kualitatif dengan menggunakan model Miles Huberman.Hasilpengembangan diperoleh sebuah media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa untuk mempermudah mengingat rumus trigonometri. The purpose of this research is to develop interactive android based learning media to facilitate understanding of trigonometric concepts. This research is a development research with qualitative approach supported by quantitative data. Development model used is ADDIE. The innovation work was made with Macromedia Flash 8. The subjects in this study consisted of 8 students on a small group trial and 30 students on a large group trial. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and interviews. Qualitative data analysis technique using Miles Huberman model. The results of the development obtained a learning media that can help students to simplify remembering the trigonometric formula. Data is one of the most important things in this information and information technology era that evolving now. Currently, the government still has not used the public data maximally for administrative purposes. Utilization of this big population data is the creation of a web service application system with REST API where this data will be open and accessible to those who have access. One of the institutions that use this service is the Manpower and Transmigration Service where this system can make the Dinas staff more efficient to create and register job search cards using available community data. This application is able to provide and facilitate many parties, such as data administrators to monitor data usage, registration employee in input data, and people able to register independently. Integrative data analysis (IDA) is a promising new approach in psychological research and has been well received in the field of alcohol research. This chapter provides a larger unifying research synthesis framework for IDA. Major advantages of IDA of individual participant-level data include better and more flexible ways to examine subgroups, model complex relationships, deal with methodological and clinical heterogeneity, and examine infrequently occurring behaviors. However, between-study heterogeneity in measures, designs, and samples and systematic study-level missing data are significant barriers to IDA and, more broadly, to large-scale research synthesis. Based on the authors’ experience working on the Project INTEGRATE data set, which combined individual participant-level data from 24 independent college brief alcohol intervention studies, it is also recognized that IDA investigations require a wide range of expertise and considerable resources and that some minimum standards for reporting IDA studies may be needed to improve transparency and quality of evidence.

AbstractThe main objectives of this study were to compare the prediction accuracy of different Bayesian methods for traits with a wide range of genetic architecture using simulation and real data and to assess the sensitivity of these methods to the violation of their assumptions. For the simulation study, different scenarios were implemented based on two traits with low or high heritability and different numbers of QTL and the distribution of their effects. For real data analysis, a German Holstein dataset for milk fat percentage, milk yield, and somatic cell score was used. The simulation results showed that, with the exception of the Bayes R, the other methods were sensitive to changes in the number of QTLs and distribution of QTL effects. Having a distribution of QTL effects, similar to what different Bayesian methods assume for estimating marker effects, did not improve their prediction accuracy. The Bayes B method gave higher or equal accuracy rather than the rest. The real data analysis showed that similar to scenarios with a large number of QTLs in the simulation, there was no difference between the accuracies of the different methods for any of the traits.

AbstractThe examination of negotiation processes is seen by many researchers as an insurmountable task largely because the required methods are unfamiliar and labor-intensive. In this article, we shed light on a fundamental step in studying negotiation processes, the quantitative coding of data. Relying on videotapes as the primary source of data, we review the steps required to extract usable quantitative data and the lessons we've learned in doing so in our own research. We review our experience working with one large negotiation dataset, Towers Market II, to illustrate two steps within the larger research process: developing a coding scheme and coding the data. We then go on to discuss some of the issues that need to be resolved before data analysis begins.
