Hypertension and hypercholesterolemia are the causes of coronary heart disease (CHD) so that the presence of hypercholesterolemia in patients with hypertension will increase the risk of CHD. Central obesity describes the accumulation of fat in the stomach which can lead to abnormalities in the amount of lipids in the blood, when it occurs in patients with hypertension can lead to progression of the occurrence of high blood cholesterol and the risk of causing atherosclerosis and heart disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of waist circumference and other factors with the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in patients with hypertension. This research is a quantitative study through secondary data with Cross Sectional design. According to the results of multivariate tests with multiple logistic regression, there was a relationship between waist circumference, gender and age after being controlled by physical activity variables. Gender as a risk factor most associated with the incidence of hypercholesterolemia with a risk 8.5 times higher in women than men, then carried out waist circumference stratification test by sex in hypertensive patients with cases of central obesity found a significant relationship that women with central obesity have a risk of experiencing hypercholesterolemia as much as 5.5 times compared to central obesity in men with a value of p <0.05. There is a waist circumference relationship with the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in women who are central obesity more at risk of developing hypercholesterolemia than central obesity in men. AbstractThe association between sleep conditions and arterial stiffness remains inconclusive. We aimed to investigate the relationship of sleep duration and quality with brachial-ankle pulse-wave velocity (baPWV) in hypertensive patients. A total of 14,485 hypertensive adults were included in this cross-sectional analysis. Information about sleep duration and quality was obtained via questionnaire. A baPWV level ≥1800 cm/s was defined as indicative of arterial stiffness. Compared with participants with a sleep duration <8 h per day, participants with a sleep duration ≥8 h per day had a significantly higher baPWV level (β = 13.7 cm/s; 95% CI: 3.9, 23.5) and a nonsignificantly higher prevalence of arterial stiffness (39.7% vs. 33.0%; OR, 1.08; 95% CI: 0.99–1.19). Similarly, compared with participants with good or medium sleep quality, participants with poor sleep quality had a significantly higher baPWV level (β = 16.3 cm/s; 95% CI: 0.1, 32.6) and a nonsignificantly greater prevalence of arterial stiffness (36.6% vs. 35.3%; OR, 1.13; 95% CI: 0.97–1.32). When sleep duration and quality were examined jointly, participants with a sleep duration ≥8 h and/or poor sleep quality had a significantly higher baPWV level (β = 14.4 cm/s; 95% CI: 5.3, 23.4) and a greater prevalence of arterial stiffness (38.8% vs. 32.7%; OR, 1.10; 95% CI: 1.01–1.20) than those with a sleep duration <8 h and good/medium sleep quality. In summary, among hypertensive patients, a longer sleep duration (≥8 h per day) and poor sleep quality were associated with higher baPWV levels and a higher prevalence of arterial stiffness.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Hypertension requires lifelong treatment. One influence of the successful treatment of hypertensive patients is adherence to taking drugs through family support roles. Purpose: This study identified the relationship between family support and adherence to taking medication for hypertensive patients at the Airmadidi Health Center in North Minahasa Regency. Method: This study was an observational analytic with cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample of 127 respondents diagnosed with hypertension. Results: Dominant family support (84.3%) was included in the low category, and dominant medication adherence (65.4%) was included in the low category. There is a significant relationship between family support and medication adherence to hypertensive patients (p value 0.016), but the correlation coefficient is weak (r = -0.213) with a negative relationship direction. Discussion: Communities including families of hypertensive patients are expected to take part in improving compliance with taking medication for hypertensive patients, and for hypertensive patients must be more obedient in taking drugs. Keywords: Family Support, Hypertension, Adherence, Taking Medication.
